Mode in Photoshop & backup to a BMP 1bpp

So a few questions here:

  1. For some reason any all of a sudden Photoshop isn't letting me change the mode. It is grayed out. I tried to open several files and still nothing. Any idea?
  2. And how to save on to a BMP 1bpp? I see 4 & 8, but it wont let me save in the 1. See attachment.

Thanks in advance!

I don't know why your Mode is greyed out! This will happen if you "transform" or in some of the modules such as Select and mask, but as happens with many images, I'm inclined to think its doing with Hostel of the corruption of your preferences. Usually the fastest way to resolve this sort of thing is to reset the preferences. In CC2015 just click preferences to reset the button exit and restart Photoshop

In what concerns you about question 1 bit image depth

1) convert to grayscale

2) convert to bitmap

(3) set the parameters of the bitmap

(4) now when you save, it will be as a 1-bit black and white image

If it is a new image from scratch you can simply click on new, and in the dialog box choose 1 bit

You can save a psd instead of a bmp file. Of course, none of this will work until you can access the settings of 'mode '.

  • Administrator mode break Photoshop CC 2015 Windows 10

I've installed a plugin that required me to have the administrator rights for the folder of fonts, one thing is certain, ran photoshop as administrator.

    The problem?

I could not open any files at all, or drag anything in Photoshop CC 2015, the only thing I can do is to create a new document.
I thought that this could be a problem with the plugin, so I uninstalled the plugin.
But running the program as administrator, even with the plugin uninstalled, gives me that circle with a bar indicating I can't drop files here, and I can't open any document at all.

My windows 10 is freshly installed, legal copy of windows and Photoshop.

It is a huge problem, any help is appreciated. Someone else has the same problem?

    Best regards
    Fredrik W

    Hello

I am one of the developers of Fontea. (The PS plugin that you use)

Fontea requires administrative privileges on the Windows PC to install fonts. To be clear. The dialog box that requests permissions has nothing to do with Photoshop. Permissions are changed for Fontea internal node server. (Essentially plugin to process that runs on the separate thread)

As such, it is highly unlikely that install or use the plugin would have an effect on Photoshop itself or its ability to run in administrator mode.

Even I can't help you with an administrator mode. Is there something you can do Fontea work without raising the plugin.

You can change permissions of C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts folder to give Users Group a TOTAL CONTROL on this folder. If there is no Fonts file then just create one and give it permissions.

Basically, it's what we do with elevated permissions. After you do this and then run Photoshop new Fontea will check if the file is writable, and if it is the administrator command prompt will be ignored and the plugin works normally.

  • CMYK mode in photoshop 6.0?

I think buying the old photoshop 6.0.    Is there a CMYK mode in the old photoshop 6.0? And it's up to 16 bits?

I remember that 16-bit is quite restricted in Photoshop 7.0, which is where I started. There was a lot of things that you couldn't do in 16 bits, even the basic stuff.

I'm pretty certain 32-bit came later, maybe CS or CS2.

You expect it probably - but why would anyone buy software 15 years and more? It make much sense except as an object of collection. You can't really use it for anything, and you'll be happy so he can run at all on a new system.

  • Type the width or height values in the strangely slow transformation mode in Photoshop 2015

    This is the version 2015.0.1.

For any document, any type of layer, call processing (usually at the command-T) mode and try to type in the fields width or height of the toolbar options will make the application is not responding for several seconds. It may be that this applies only for the first time using processing during a session, not course.

    Steps to reproduce:

    -Open a document

    -Select a layer

-Enter the transform mode with command-T (on Mac)

Context-click on the field width or height value in percentage to the pixel value to (maybe that is the real question)

-Try to type in the field

    Expected result:

    -Reasonably responsive typing.

    Actual result:

-App is suspended for a period of time.

  • How to disable the 3D mode in photoshop cc?

Hey guys, I'm new to photoshop, I turned on the 3d mode to check and he opened a few 3d bar toll and stuff I want to turn off how I can do

OK, guys, workspaces are just saved views of your user interface. All panels can be hidden or made visible in the menu windows manually. It's where they all live. Change the workspace, rearranges your signs of position and visibility. Photoshop comes with pre-defined default parameters. These are those listed in the drop-down list workspace. You can enable, disable any Panel and move them where you want. Then save it as a new workspace.

When a workspace is active and change you the visibility or the position of a group, you are in a State space of unsaved work. It is an opportunity to save or restore the default value.

In the drop-down list workspace, the reset menu item will specify the workspace that you are using. This lets you know that you are not reset the wrong workspace. Switching workspaces and in return you will find your game upward from the way you left it, even if you have not registered the workspace. Think about the default value as a starting point.

Do not forget to reset the workspace that's why and there is no way to return to the workspace modified, unless you saved it all first.

  • XP system backup and restore for XP Mode in Windows 7 Pro

We have many customers finally replace their XP computers with new systems, but some require old software XP can easily be upgraded or replaced.

We can always clone their slow HDD to a new SSD in a new system and repair the hard disk controller, but then they still run XP.

Does anyone know of a Windows XP backup procedure (NTbackup, System Migration tool, Acronis image of the system, etc.) and then on a computer installed Windows 7 Pro with XP Mode, restore the backup to the computer in XP Mode?  In this way, they have Windows 7 for new software and can easily "initialize" their virtual XP machine?

Would seek essentially to restore a mirror image of XP so that programs are intact.

We could do something other than XP mode too - VirtualBox or VMWare would be nice too.

Thanks in advance for your ideas.

  • How to ensure the backup of Windows 7 starts and runs until the end on a laptop which is mode standby, or could be put in mode 'sleep' when the lid is closed.

    Hello

Many of us with laptops with Windows 7 would like to ensure that, when a Windows backup is scheduled, it starts successfully and goes to full completion, regardless of whether the phone is first 'sleep', or if the user of the laptop close the lid of the laptop, which would normally the laptop mode 'sleep'.  In other words, how to backup Windows or Windows 7 be configured to wake from mode "sleep" and prevent it from sleep mode, when a backup is scheduled and actively running?

I saw a way to schedule a task that will wake the computer, but I'm looking for something more intelligent than that.  I'm looking to see if Microsoft has already thought this through and allow you to pre-configure operating system such as we have no additional installation software.

    Thank you

  • Repair damaged adobe photoshop .psd files?

One of my project files has been removed in a terrible accident. I won't go into it, but I got one of the .psd files using a commercial conservation program (Fast File Undelete data DTI). It did not work (go figure) and whenever I try to open the file .psd photoshop (7.0) shows a message box that says: "there was a problem to read the data in the layer. Read the composite data instead? "When I click on the play button of Composite data another box shows that reads,"cannot open '[file name]' because the file is not compatible with this version of photoshop. »

It seems as it is very close to work, because there isn't even a vignette. I also got a handful of .jpg and .tga, who are also broke. Does anyone know of a utility that could attempt to repair a .psd, .tga or a .jpg?

Repair Kit PSD that repairs the Photoshop files and you give image repaired to the original format as well as repaired layers and the corresponding safe bitmap file.

-Repair of PSD files developed using any color mode of Photoshop

-Repairs corrupt the PSB ("large document format") files

-Fix images with the DDP file extension

-Provides the bitmap of the repaired Photoshop file

    -Takes to load Adobe Photoshop CS5, CS4, CS3, CS2 CS1

    DOWNLOAD SETUP FROM HOMEPAGE: http://www.psd.repair/

    SECOND FREE SOLUTION:

Photoshop is adding sometimes a few bytes at the beginning of the file when the file is saved, then the same Photoshop gives an error and complained that the files... All you have to do is delete the Group of bytes that unnecessarily.

Assuming that you know already what is a HEX editor and how to use it I'll write here a few steps, you can do before opening a "corrupt": PSD file

    1. make a backup (copy) of the file before making any changes.

2 - Open the file "corrupted" in a HEX editor used (text editor NOT!) and look for such groups of fairness at the beginning: 8 bits/s and after a few bytes 8BIM another group of bytes, then 8BIM.

3 - this succession must be respected strictly: 8BPS... 8BIM... 8BIM. these groups should be very close to each other and it is easy to find.

4 - remove all the bytes before 8 group BPS (shift + delete) and save the file... =)

5 - open in Photoshop and have fun.

  • As a Time Machine backup, it keeps adding to the size of the backup?

TM starts the backup and starts suddenly to add to the size of the backup, it will do. This means that no player will never be large enough to accommodate the backup because it keeps growing in size (as each block of data is added, the size of the backup continues expansion of the same amount). I have attached 2 screenshots showing what has happened in the minute to restart the backup. TM is backup on an external WD hard drive via the USB-3 port on my MacBook Pro (retina, 15 inches, end of 2013). 1.9 TB of data backup - there should not be a problem because the external hard drive has 3 TB of space and has been freshly formatted before being used for the first backup on this drive. As you can see from the screenshots, the backup is much larger than it should be.

    1 minute later screenshot:

Before this behavior, I have had problems with Time Machine while using another backup drive (a drive LaCie Quadra) with for example, ignored backups, backups landed at calculation time, backups, partially blocked by a backup for more than 36 hours etc., error messages from read-only TM etc... I tried several solutions on this forum and none seem to have corrected these strange behaviors. It felt like I've solved a problem, shortly after another was about to begin.

I stopped finally try the solutions suggested here in the forums, as well as some external sites such as Pondini and chose to use another drive (HD freshly cleared using disk utility - the WD drive that is currently attached to the MBP). The WD external drive worked well on the Mac Pro in the office, and I have no reason to suspect that this is the problem (I ran some tests after erasing it and there is no error reported).

Well, the first symptom that something still was wrong was when backing up to disk WD has slowed to a crawl yesterday afternoon, but I left it on overnight. At noon today the backup was still running, but about ⅔ complete (very, very slowly - running data blocks are moving into very small pieces), but I have to bring the MBP to a meeting and everything stop. Then my back and everything by plugging, TM started upward and all seemed well, until I noticed that the backup data was almost 2.5 to. I restarted the MBP. It's once again, I noticed that Time Machine did not work as I expected. The size of the backup continues to expand... I was expecting TM that she had about 250 GB left to save, but as see you from the screenshots it much much smaller than that. I have let it run like that for about 2 hours, hoping that it was just a small mistake, but the HD continues to fill, only 185 GB of space left. Strangely, I can enter TM and see my data.

    Suggestions please? Very much appreciated.

    Stu

Nobody answered, so I thought I'd share the temporary solution I came up with.

I started in safe mode, deleted the backup external TM drive I was using and launched a full backup with TM (always in safe mode). I leave TM turn all night and a full backup has been completed. I rebooted, entered TM and restore some files to confirm that I was actually able to restore the backup pieces. Since that time, I did have problems with TM make scheduled backups, with one reading errors etc.

I will continue to spend some time to know what triggered these questions... since I was able to make a backup in safe mode, this means that I have other avenues to explore.

I will report back if I find anything.

  • Best color in Photoshop settings to print on Photosmart B8500

What are the best color settings to use in Photoshop in order to allow the release of color more specific?

    (1) should be in RGB or CMYK mode in Photoshop?

    (2) the following standard settings that work best with this printer:

    North American universal 2

    America prepress 2

    Workflow of ColorSync

The color is a question that has no 1 correct answer.  It is a matter of personal preference.  These preferences are often influenced by the choice of papers, ambient light, the perception of color in the eyes of viewers, view settings and the intentions of rendering, to name a few...

I use sRGB, most of the time, at least that I print to a printer that uses custom color profiles and use any other color profile, I created for a particular media I use.

My suggestion to you is to print by using different settings and that the label of each print with your selections.  Go back and see each print and decide which fits your style the best.

    Hello

The ASR (automated system recovery) tool must have a disk for restoration purposes. The best option, if you really want to use ASR, is a floppy of USB external as suggested by chrisamiller.

You can also follow this procedure to create the ASR files without the floppy drive and then copy them to another location to create a floppy disk or, if you're lucky, your PC can boot from a USB key (I never tried to start ASR on a key, do not know if it will work or not, but it might be worth it) :

"You can"trick"the ASR in the race without a floppy drive." When it gets to the point where he writes on the diskette to cancel it. He writes two files, which are used for recovery, in the Windows\Repair directory. After completing your ASR copy these two files (files asr.sif and asrpnp.sif) to a network location and then make the diskette also. Make sure you update your disk whenever you make a new ASR or your backup will be watered.

Or, you can use a USB floppy drive. It is sometimes the only option, especially if you need to install SCSI or SATA drivers during the recovery. »

a: when you start the backup, it may be in Wizard mode. Follow the link to the Advanced Mode.
    b. Backup tab.
    c. click on the box next to the drive you want to back up so that it has a blue box.
    d. backup media or file name: Browse.
    e. Select a new file name on your CD.
    f. start the backup.

  • Layer masks and blending modes

I read on the layer blending modes in Photoshop CS6: The Missing Manual, p.121.  They talk about setting exposure using the blending modes, and they show how to darken an image by using the following procedure.  (1) activate a layer, (2) create a mask of levels, (3) the blending mode of the layer to multiply the value.

My impression is that blending modes change how the pixels on one level interact with the pixels on the next lower level; that is, it implies there are at least two layers of the image.  So I'm not surprised that if I have a single layer without a mask and I change the blending mode from normal to multiply, it is without effect, probably because there is no immediately lower level to allow interaction.  However, if I have a single layer and create a layer mask, then changing the blending mode from normal to multiply darken the image.  That must involve the pixels of the layer are interacting with transparent pixels on the mask.  What?

Can someone explain what is happening in reality not here?

Use layer blending modes, you need to the two layers less.

    As you mentioned above:

'(1) activate a layer, (2) create a mask of levels, (3) the blending mode of the layer to multiply the value'

step 2 means create a levels adjustment layer that comes with a default mask if you want to make local adjustments.

in this case, if you have a layer and add an adjustment layer, it works as if you duplicate the layer.
