  • color for web and print profiles

    Hello

I'm editing photos from my digital SLR. They were shot as jpg in Adobe RGB. I'm editing photos for both web and print right now and I was wondering if there is a way to do so that I would be able to change for both at the same time in the process of Photoshop.

Here are the details for what I usually do:

For printing, I would work in AdobeRGB photos while the check option has the working CMYK value (usually SWOP, depending on which printer I use). Then I would flatten the work, resize and sharpen and change the color to CMYK mode, save as TIFF.

For the web, I used to edit while RGB color settings are defined in sRGB IEC61966 - 2.1 and verification is set to RGB monitor. I flattened, resize and sharpen and save for Web.

Is it possible that I can edit a single photo (shot in Adobe RGB) so that they can be used for BOTH print and web? I know CMYK or RGB would mean they would end in search of different end, but is be possible that I can have a single Photoshop file for the photo and go through the steps needed to make it ready for printing and for the web... or because of the color profiles and linguistic verification options , there is nothing I can do but to edit each photo twice?

Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help.

First of all I suggest you just started shooting RAW not Jpeg.

then personally I work in AdobeRGB. I place my PSD AdobeRGB in ID and the CMYK conversion is done when I do my PDF. for web work I convert to sRGB when I use save for Web. Do not use your monitor profile color proof for the web like that you have the correct monitor profile.

  • MS refuses to load software for printer Plug & Play, [Kodak ESP7] and Viewsonic monitor. MS = not signed?

Recently, MS windos XP sp3 fails to recognize the common plug & play devices.  Says error message "software not signed" then demand load anyway?... I say yes, but the charger just an infinite loop, preventing the drivers to load.

MS refuses to load software for printer Plug & Play, [Kodak ESP7] and Viewsonic monitor. MS = unsigned.  Was the load ok previously.

This is how I have to upgrade?  I have five computers and two are 98 and 95 for some software.  That line.  TonyR

The signed data are perhaps crushed or damaged on the HARD drive.

How to troubleshoot unknown devices listed in Device Manager in Windows XP

When you install a device driver and Windows detects that it is not digitally signed, you receive a warning message and the option to cancel or continue the installation this message only appears if your computer is configured to display a warning message whenever an installation program attempts to install a device without a digital signature driver.

  • Profile of Photoshop Black and white for printing

I'm a black and white photographer, this issue is so important for me to solve. I've been looking online and I still have to find the answer, so I hope someone can help.

I need to know how to set up the profiles of black and white in Photoshop for printing. The printer I have is a canon Pixma Pro 9000 mark II

I need real black and white. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestion. If you need me to provide more information let me know.

I often print black & white work on an Epson, using advanced black & white in the print driver.

A quick Internet search found that there is something similar for Canon - Canon: PIXMA Manual: Guide to Digital Photo printing: printing black and white

I print files scanned in grayscale and have the profile to grayscale in PS 2.2 Gamma value.

If you print digital photos, they will be RGB, but which will probably make no difference. But you have to read the documentation for the Canon if it will be. IOW - if the image must be in grayscale or RGB levels.

Something very important when printing as this is to set the printer to manage colors (not PS) in the dialog box print of PS.

  • Workflow suggested to assign printing profiles.

I am eager to assign color profiles before editing it. I prefer to import my files on my card in a folder as CR2, the LRCC as identical COPY and use LR as my catalog. I also prefer use LR vs CR as my editor. However, when I export from LR (TIFF) to PSCC it bypasses CR and course load in PS I can assign ICC in PS but CR right holders that automatically and as PS I have to assign to each file?

Since Windows does not have a codec yet for my Canon 7 d MKii I can't visually see the files to import in CR. I use Canon DPP to view, but it exports to TIFF which would then go directly into PS, not CR.

I need a new workflow to incorporate a printing profile. Suggestions?

You, Sir, have opened my treatment technique to a new level! I was not satisfied with the output of printing houses. By comparing an impression to a monitor of course isn't apples to apples so if she looked good, I was happy. Yesterday I sent a file after you assign a printing profile. As soon as I applied the luminescence of the image profile dropped dramatically. When I got the impression, it has become WYSIWYG. This started my investigation of the whole process that makes for a clunky workflow. I now have an understanding of the color space pro photo and how I can continue to use LR throughout the process I used, return of the PS or the plugins I use. You have been a VALUABLE help and thank you very much!

  • Conversion and editing Photos in Photoshop in preparation for printing no bed

    A few questions:

-Can I change in the custom view > bed and then convert to CMYK when I'm happy, or do I need to convert to CMYK first and edit in custom > view uncoated?

    -How to make good blacks?

-How can I get a realistic saturation?

-Someone at - it detailed a process they can show me from beginning to end?

You have the CMYK profile for the press that wil be used? It is very important that you have this profile and use it for your CMYK working space.

If this is not the case, contact your printer and get it. It is possible that you already have a profile, but it is also possible that it is a custom printer profile will provide for you.

What follows assumes you have your CMYK working space (Edit > color settings) set up correctly, and you have a calibrated monitor.

    • Do the general editing including sharpening in RGB. Start with a 16-bit file. Color space of the file should match your RGB, Adobe RGB preference workspace.
    • Convinced, go to view > test format, then choose CMYK working
    • Press Ctrl + Y (Cmd + Y on a Mac). This will give you a glimpse of what will look like the file as printed. You'll probably notice that the colors are less saturated - that is the nature of the CMYK - color range is smaller than RGB.
    • You can now change the colors (up to a point) to get them as well as possible. Press Ctrl + Y to alternate between CMYK and RGB to see the difference.
    • In general, you set the black point with levels or curves, on an adjustment layer.
    • Finally, (a copy of the file (you probably want to keep the RGB file) convert to 8 - bit and convert to CMYK.)
  • Please guide me through correct settings for printing from lightroom 4?

Im working from Mac OS X Yosemite and my new printer is Canon MG7520.  I can't take a picture to look good for the life of me please help with a step by step instructions?  Thank you very much!!!

Amateur photographer.   color management need help on how to turn off lightroom or printer to handle the color.  I read a ton of web content, but still having problems.

On this printer, I don't think there's any icc profile, let the printer manage color.

Don't forget when you view your photos on the screen to your monitor up to 25% of brightness for editing photos esp for printing

In addition, it is easier to match the printer brand and the brand of printer paper

  • Calibration of monitor and printer

My monitor and my printers need calibration. There are differences between such images that displayed on the display of the camera and the monitor and the monitor and printers. I seeks to determine the Colormunki and Spyder Studio solutions, but cannot find any current advice on the merits of each of these solutions. Does anyone have current experience? My system includes a Nikon D7000, an Acer monitor and printers Canon Pro9000 Mark II, MG6200, and MX920.

    Thanks for any thoughts.

Reduce the number of variables. First of all the scorn the LCD of the camera, which is not yet remotely reliable as a guide to anything. And it could be that the display is where you should really spend your money first. What model? At the very least, there should be a panel IPS-type; If it's a slab TN, he has narrow angles and poor color accuracy in general. A good photographic use monitor will be around $500 and up, depending on the size.

Anyway: calibrate the screen and set the objectives to give a Visual match to the printed output. Set the temperature and the luminance of the white point so white monitor is a match Visual white paper under your specific display requirements. Then set point range black/contrast, if software has this option. Glossy paper is normally in the order of 250: 1.

Accurate color reproduction is actually not as important but to rethink the General brightness and contrast. Neutral color balance will be the same as the white point chromaticity and the display profile allows you to compensate for the specific screen response and irregularities. These things will be put in place by themselves. The critical point is to get the targeting for your work environment.

Canon pro9000 resembles a great printer, use it as a guide - but make sure you have the correct printer profiles loaded, for the paper tray you are using. I don't bother with calibration of printer, get the first right screen calibration.

That said, between the ColorMunki Photo and the studio of Spyder, I'd go for the first, simply because x-rite make sensors more reliable and consistent.

  • Converting Images to CMYK for Print Publication

When in my workflow should I be converting images to CMYK for print publication?

Currently, I shoot FIRST pictures with my SLR in Adobe RGB, import images into Photoshop for manipulating and then convert the final image, the size to CMYK before placing it in my Indesign document. Before you go to print, I convert my PDF files using the [PDF / X - 1a: 2001] preset. I use a system that is balanced with a profile for my monitor.

As many of my photos have shades of green, I am often disappointed by the conversion to CMYK because lose I the saturation and brightness. I'm doing something wrong? Is there a better way to preserve the quality of the color in my images when you go to a printer?

    Never. Leave it as RGB.

All modern printers should happily accept RGB images. PDF/X-4 is the modern

standard. X-1a can be described as archaic.

  • Color management - OK to set monitor color sRGB profile?

Is there any problem if I set my monitor color profile for sRGB and Photoshop recognizes this and I use ProPhoto RGB as my workspace in Photoshop?

    Background:

I got a general problem with color management where my pictures looked darkest in Photoshop then my Windows Photo Viewer by default or in Adobe Bridge.

I did some research and finally fseemed to solve the problem, but I'm not sure on any of my settings.

I use Windows XP, and the first great help came through a panel of color that you can download from Microsoft.

    Here is the link: http://www.microsoft.com/prophoto/downloads/colorcontrol.aspx

This utillity adds a panel color settings that you can access through the control panel. It's main characteristics are that it allows you to assign color profiles to devices, such as your monitor or printer.

I'm using Photoshop CS4.  If you open the color settings dialogue box and look under the section workspaces, you can choose your workspace for RGB in the drop-down list. From my research, and since I'm editing photos, I concluded that choose Adobe RGB or ProPhoto RGB is a good choice.

Also on this drop-down list, there is a choice called Monitor RGB. From my research, the opinion is that you should not set that as your RGB working space. However, a tip I've met is that if you look at the Monitor RGB choice it will tell what Photoshop is grateful as color of your monitor profile. For example, it will say 'Monitor RGB - Dell 217'

Now, after the installation of the utility of color of Windows I am now able to define the color for my monitor profile. What I put is then recognized by Photoshop if I see it on this list.

Specifically, in my utility of color I set my monitor to use the sRGB color space. Now when I go into Photoshop and color Setings and go dialog where you set the RGB workspace, I click the menu drop down and the list will be "Monitor RGB - sRGB IEC61966 - 2.1.»

Note: I did not choose this as my RGB color space, I will just here to check what Photoshop is to see with regard to my color space of the monitor. I put it to my RGB color space to ProPhoto RGB.

My monitor is a monitor de LCD Samsung 172 T.  Regarding the calibration of the monitor, I don't have access to a colorimeter device. From my research, I have found that by using the calibrator of software called Adobe Gamma is not designed to calibrate or profile LCD monitors.

What I did: I use a graphics card based on nVidia with a control panel. The Control Panel has a display optimization tool. I used.

    Once again, my question-

In the utility of windows color, I put my monitor color profile to sRGB. Was it the right choice?

I have set to another profile that I have available called "Samsung 172 T."  But I do not know from which it came. Not sure if it was generated using Adobe Gamma a few years back, or the manufacturer.

When I went to that profile my screen gets darker. Note: when I turn on in the Windows color configuration utility, then go in Photoshop, I can see in the color settings dialog box it now says "Monitor RGB - Samsung 172 T.

I know that if I had a calibrator type colorimeter I would be able to generate an accurate profile for my monitor. In this case, you would set your monitor to this profile, rather than sRGB?

    Tom,

Unless you have a crap monitor which is incapable of contoured with precision, never set your monitor profile to an independent color space of the device as sRGB.

Calibrate your monitor with precision, regularly and often and use the monitor resulting as your dependent monitor of the device profile.

  • Want 5530: Install 5530 want twice on same PC with different printer profiles

Running Windows 7 Pro.  I want to install my 5530 printer like the first time with the name of the printer that includes 1 side printed and it default profile 1 side printed.   I would then like to install this same printer a second time, but with a name that indicates 2-sided with his descriptive default on 2 sides.  The first install the Panel very well.  However, the software will let me install a second time.  It stops in the process where I tell it to connect via USB.

I can install it using the Win7 "Add a printer", but nothing will be printed on it.  It seems to use a port USB, for example USB006, where the printer software creates a "printer virtual port xxxx".

    1. How can I install the 5530 desire a second time on the same PC with this own printer profile?

    2. in the "Devices and printers" Win7, it sort of just "copy" the first instance/profile of the printer to a second instance if I can just change the profile?

    Hello

Devices and printers, click Add printer and select a local printer.

Select the LPT1 port, and then click Next.

Select HP or Hewlett-Packard in the manufacturer list, then the HP Envy 5530 in the printer list, and then complete the wizard.

Once you have finished, right-click the existing copy of the 5530 (the one created by the HP software) and select printer properties.

The tab of Ports to take note of the selected channel and close the window.

Right-click the newly added copy and select printer properties, select the same port as configured for the original printer and press OK.

You can set each printer as required and name it accordingly.

  • printing profiles new assignment CC PS - they do not appear in the print menu

I posted my problem in German, but it seems to have disappeared. I'll try again in English...

I bought a new printer and a new PC. I use Windows 10 and InDesign CC (currently still than the test version) and CC Photoshop and Lightroom CC.

I got new for my paper tray printer profiles and my new printer (Canon Pro 10s).

Profiles have been saved under color - pilots - spool - system 32 - c: Windows, same as I have always done in the past. I believe that it is correct for Windows 10 and CC, as the new show of profiles upward in the print menu in the selection of profile drop in my InDesign (trial version CC and CS5) and LR CC - but not in the print for Photoshop menu. I tried with a right click on the profile itself and then 'install', nothing happens, but I guess that this must be the case that it show up under ID CC and LR. I tried reinstalling PS, does not help.

Under 'Edit' in PS and "assign profile" new profiles show, but not in the print menu.

Someone at - it any idea why this should be, and how can I solve the problem?

Be good to reduce the profile or Photoshop by us two using exactly the same profile. As posted above - happy to send you a copy of the generic version that loads OK here.
