monitor goes to black screen on startup.

My monitor has started to go to the black screen at the "start". However if I it turn on and off several times, it starts to work and then that's fine. I tried to unplug all the power cables and turn on again but the problem persists.

Hi Syed, already tried reinstalling the video card. Came to the conclusion that it was a faulty monitor. Probably a dodgy relay or a dry joint? Bought a new monitor! Problem solved!
Thank you very much for your advice, you helped me to identify the problem.  Rob.

    It seems that the display output is set to external monitor
    You see the Toshiba start screen if the laptop is connected to the external monitor?

    I can tell you how to make bootable disks, but you already have a disk.

    He has changed since good means of XP repair install from disk by booting from it.

    I would add that info to disk Bootable repair, just in case your DVD is a factory of one computer.

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-Vista.html

    It's Vista only repair installation option these days.
    It must be switched on!
    Not much use, is it!

    Good luck with it.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Download the ISO on the provided link and do a repair of the disc.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    Above information shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
    NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.
    ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
    It's a very good Vista Startup Repair disk.
    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
    It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
    I bought this laptop in early March and had to return to store due to a problem at startup when half of the screen would be black on the Windows login screen. They ordered me a new I got about 3 weeks ago and I used it for about a week before I had the same problem of a half black screen on startup.
    Now he has been running really slow and there is a time, I've had it freeze on me and my screen turn into a bunch of colored lines.
    I had to reboot in safe mode and run a virus scan just to make sure it wasn't my problem.
    I do not download anything on this computer other than basic messengers and photo editing programs.
    I have a HP MP7170N desktop computer which I use to download everything that seems to work faster than the laptop and I use photo, download torrents programs and store most of my pictures and music on this one and it has only 1 GB of memory compared to this the 4 GB.
    Before contacting a professional Toshiba authorized service provider would be, it would be interesting to know if you have seen improvements after recovery procedure and BIOS updated.
    I think you n t get a recovery disk because you can create it using the verification of software preinstalled Toshiba manual how to create the recovery disk
    If, after installing new check usability of portable and so similar issues still persists.
    If nothing will change it s is strongly recommended to communicate with an ASP.
  • Black screen on startup Satellite A80
    I get a black screen at startup what is the problem and what is the solution for it? It might have something to do with the cold?
    Hi poly
    Please put more details on the problem, because it s not easy to say what has happened without any detailed information. You hear the operation of the HARD disk or fans?
    Switch you to other devices to display, before this problem occurs?
    Unfortunately it FN + F5 key combination doesn't work if the operating system has started so it could be a malfunction of the equipment. I don t think you can solve this problem by yourself. In this case, the only way is to contact the service.
  • B540 TDR and black screen on startup
    Hi all, I bought a B540 in April a power works fine until end of July when it began to show the error "display driver has stopped working and has recovered." a few days later I let him (I have need as a wifi station to connect devices remove) and after a few hours of work, when I came back, the screen was off and there wa no way to turn it on. I press the power button for a few seconds to turn off the pc and he died. When I turned on, the computer started but the screen is off (not the 'lenovo' logo was shown on the eve) but everything else seemed to work (play plug/unpluging usb external hard drive the sound of the carachteristic). I turned off again and wait ten minutes before the market again, this time above the 'lenovo' logo was shown, but it seems that the pc failed to boot win 8. I unlplugged everything, removed the power cord, wait an hour and after that all started ok but the error message "display driver stop" was still there. After this date the computer randomly starts ok or with the screen. Given that I do not use it intensively Isuspected some windows update to cause this strange behavior and I'm trying to use a point of restoration, until July 17, but the problem was still there. Then I removed all recent windows update of June on, and I realized that in one case, it was not possible (i.e. the "remove/uninstall" button not showed that KB). I googled around and found the subject KB has been reported to broken system and the only way to react was to use a DOS command to reatore a new installation of the system. I did and actually everything works ok for 2 days (one day, I actually use the PC all day to upload stuff to iternet it to work). Unfortunately, after that day, everything seems to repeat: new 'pilot not resposinding to display' and a black screen at startup.
    Please consider that the system is quite new and clean (only 3/4 months of life) and everything works fine until end of July. What do you suggest me?
  • configuration updates stage 3 of 3 0% gge full then goes to black screen
    my computer is stuck on step 3 of the configuration update, then goes to black screen says diskette drive 0 seek failure F1 to continue F2 to set up
    Hello
    I suggest to manually restart the computer and try to start in safe mode and perform a System Restore. To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
    2. in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.
    3. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.
    4. click on finish.
    Once the computer is restored to the earlier date, try to install the updates manually.
    You won't lose your data saved in the hard disk by performing a system restore.
  • S7: black screen on startup
    S7, barely a month.  Order last night, left pending, lid and power cord plugged in.
    Today he won't move beyond a black screen at startup.  Starts with the start screen "Acer Explorer beyond the limits" and then just black.  However, I can see the pointer of couse to the screen and it can move with touchpad and mouse.
    I rebooted several times, power cord unplugged, etc..  No luck.
    Looking, seems I'm not the only one with this problem.
    Come on Acer, I dropped a lot of money on this machine!  Help, please!
    Here's how I fixed my problem as described in my original post (for now, anyway):
    Unplug the power apparatus.  Open the cover; computer will power on but go to black screen.
    Power off button on the side, but leave the lid open.
    Then, with (2) lid open (1) the computer turned off and unplugged from power cord (3), press and hold the power button / stop for 30 seconds.  Computer will be quickly implemented on and then turns off quickly (you'll see the Acer logo startup screen, but he died before entering the black screen).  Keep holding the power button / stop through all this for 30 seconds.
    At the end of 30 seconds, the computer will be (should be) off the coast.   Remove your finger from the power button / stop.  Leave lid open during all this.
    With lid open, connect the power cable.  Press the power button / stop as you normally would (you are not holding it this time) to turn on.
    Computer should start normally.
    Worked for me; It may be useful if you encounter the same problem.  I said that it has something to do with static buildup.
  • Pavillion dv6 6b15ed: Driverupdate to fix the black screen at startup windows 10!
    Hello
    Question:
    Is there a new driver is released for my AMD Radeon HD card 6755 2? (double grafics)
    Because the latest driver causes a black screen at startup. Sequence: wenn turn on u see hp and that start-up logo win 10 after that it crashes on a black screen for about 2 minutes, then start 10. (about 2, 5 minutes later)
    I have now installed a windows 8 (issues) driver and windows starts in 6 seconds (with normal hard drive).
    I can't play the games but the bootspeed is good.
    So is there a fix or is there is 1 entry?
    TNX
    While the video card is not supported with the latest drivers.
    You can update as much if you want to, but isn't is not helping.
    Even in charge AMD said that this card is not supported with drivers.
    But today, I tried 1 times more, I used the old driver AMD_Display_13.352.
    With the first reboot, it was still black and some errors of the pilot, but after that the second quick start installation restarts!
    Appearance of the logo Windows 10 only 3 or 4 seconds and start immediately, without black screen and I got sound, video and video tube work as well.
    If other people having the same problem download Drivethelife and download the old pilot 13.352 and see for yourself.
    Make sure u delete all drivers previously installed with DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) of guru3d site.
    Almost forgot: I also disabled windowsupdate to prevend install other drivers (new).
  • Black screen at startup, unable to boot from the CD
    I did something wrong on my Thinkpad T43 2668, now I have Black Boot screen cannot Access IBM, can not press a function key, cannot start from the CD.  Here's what I did:
    1 got unwanted winxp sp3 updates automatic, then restored to the permeable point via Windows XP system restore, then, cannot start system; cannot boot from the Windows XP CD
    2 2 demarrer start from Linux Live CD, format hard drive and install ubuntu, hidden Partition of domain is not deleted, always there;
    3. can start Linux OS, but black screen on startup. There is no way to see what's happening at startup; Pressing a key of function or IBM bottons returns no result, always boot in Linux;
    4. cannot boot from any CD bootable legal except Ubuntu Live CD;
    5. no means of access Bios to set the boot sequence, therefore, cannot boot from USB floppy either.
    Advice is appreciated!
    PS. I tried Linux live CD some time ago before this trouble, click on "help me to boot from CD", got something installed. I guess it's something installed out of the box and that is why now I can boot from a Linux Live CD.
  • My Satellite L505D goes to a black screen after startup
    It seems to boot up properly and everything. It starts Windows 7 and goes to the user selection screen, but since there is only 1 user, it only says: Welcome to the loading circle. But when he tries to load the page office or home or whatever you call, all that happens is the mouse.
    I can move the mouse normally, my anti anti-virus pop ups see the place if necessary. On my last attempt to try to solve the problem, I got my user to open the file, but has happened automatically. I tried taking the battery twice thing. If any ideas on why the screen just looks like a black screen and the mouse visible.
    PS: I use the keys ctrl + alt + del function to get these options appears.
    On this virtual path, it is not easy to understand why all this is happening, but what you can try is to start the operating system in safe mode and roll back the OS to an earlier time to see if it works.
    Can you please try this and post comments.
    Do as a first step. Later, we see what can be done.
  • Black screen during startup
    I have a HP m9520f I bought a month ago. From time to time, it gives me a black screen when booting. The computer is on, but nothing happens. When I unplug the power cord and plug usually once again, it starts fine the next time. I tried solutions suggested by pressing F8 during startup. But nothing is going on (it started normally without any problem).
    The clues and suggestions are appreciated.
    Could be an intermittent hardware failure, try to open the housing, cleaning (using canned air) all, remove and reinstall the RAM and check the connections are secure. However, first, check the screen. Is the cable correctly connected at both ends, and the power cable is safe? You could test if it's not for lack of a monitor, if you have a keyboard with a sleep button, to set market and that, if the screen goes black, wait at least 10 minutes until it would have normally received at the logon screen. Then, press the sleep button and see if she falls asleep. Also watch the disk activity; If there is a lot that the operating system is probably start normally.
