Monitoring by AppMonitor agents

Hello

I have tried for hours to make a fundamental Foglight task and may not have to work.  As usual, thank you in advance for your help.

I have two simple tasks to do.  First of all, I simply monitor a 3 on a client process called "replicat.exe" and e-mail alert when the any of the 3 process goes.  I did the following so far:

Created an appmonitor agent

Editing the properties of the Agent and defined process in the tab list of process in the Application/process list.  I have used 3 in the field number of Instances.

Newspapers began and verified on the agent and everything is ok

To get an alert when the process dies, I copied the Process_Availability rule in my own custom rule and simply set the variable where to send the alert.

We stopped in the process, but nothing is happening: I do not receive an alert.  I read through some of the posts on the community and tried to edit and create custom rules, but I still can't get an alert to come out.  Is it more complicated than I think?  I used to use all the time in V4 and it was very simple.  I can't believe that it's changed.  Need me one more time!

The second thing, that I am responsible monitors a file for changes in growth.  I need to create a rule that alerts when there is a change in the size of the files, upwards or downwards.  I think I can use the AppMonitor once again, but I was not sure where to find the settings or framing to put in place only.  Any suggestions on how to implement that?  Are there examples anywhere on how to do?

Thanks again guys,

I always enjoy your posts!

Paul

Hi Paul,.

It seems that you did things right. Your description, I would expect that you get an alert when you have stopped the process monitored. Please, do the same thing again and go to the dashboard AppMonitor analysis group of operating systems to inspect the measures collected by the agent. If the problem persists, please post a screenshot of this dashboard captured five minutes after the stop of the monitoring process.

Kind regards

    Hello

We have an obligation of monitoring of a set of processes that we need of alerts. We have a custom dashboard that displays all the processes running on the monitored hosts but when we tried to create alerts for "alert for process if he stopped", we do not get an alert.

We tried "HostProcess' topology and selected"localState"for the business process. But this force give no warning.

Please could someone suggest me how can I trigger an alert for this "State of process."

    Shiva,

What is meant by cartridge are you using toe monitor all processes running on a host?

To monitor the availability of specific process, we generally use the appmonitor agent

    Hi Rowan-

If you place a Foglight Agent Manager on the host computer, where they are running you can use the AppMonitor agent to monitor the

use of resources and the availability of these executables. Otherwise if they are .NET applications, you can use the agent of .NET. I hope this helps.

  • AppMonitor

    Hello

    on Foglight 5.6.4.

We have deployed AppMonitor agent on servers. Server1 Server2, Server 3, Server 4.

    When I navigate to

Availibility Operating System/App with selector Agent

    or

Overview of the operating system/App with selector Agent

    I don't see information on Server3.

How to select the display for the other 3?

What does it mean to hear: "with selector Agent?

    Thank you and best regards.

That's right, that the agent switch is located on the right panel.

Also check out the Dashboard under operating system > AppMonitor analysis > Application Monitor is a nice dashboard (it must always select an agent from the agent Chooser).

  • Question/AppMonitor performance impact

    Hello

I installed the AppMonitor for a list of the 20 process. Is a comercial product and process control the State of the recovery and begin the process.

I know he uses between 5 and 10 seconds to start again.

    My question is:

I could put the quick check at 2 seconds with minimal use of resources or of this change will have an impact in the monitored host or in the FMS?

    Best regards

    David Fernandez

The best practice is to configure the Foglight agents to collect less frequently than the maximum expected collection time.

If the agent takes 5-10 seconds to collect the parameters, the frequency of collection must be set no more frequently than every 15 seconds. In general, I wouldn't recommend the AppMonitor agent configuration to collect more frequently than every 30 seconds.

More frequent collections impact use of resources on the monitored host and, to a lesser extent, the FMS.

As the agent of AppMonitor will be off sustained next year, it would be a good idea to validate the Infrastructure Officer for process data collection. If ICR agent doesn't have all the features you need, the earlier, these requirements are reported, the better.

  • What monitors process cartridge

    Hello

Foglight 5.6.4 I monitor if psappsrv.exe is running on a remote server in windows 2008. Should what cartridg I install?

So should what package I deploy?

Should what type of agent I create?

    Thank you.

    Guy-

You want to deploy the agent from operating system package using AppMonitor agent, who can tell you whether or not a process is running.

    I hope this helps.

  • URL and monitoring of log files by using Foglight

    Hi all

We are using Foglight 5.6.4 and running foglight agent manager 5.6.7 inside.

We try to follow a URL and log files that are hosted on a machine Windows 2012...

Know will support implement our requirements (IE 2012 Windows monitoring)?

Could you share your ideas on this pls...

    Thank you best regards &,.

    Guenoun

This will be an interesting question.

Article don't not specify how, but there is an interesting question of the platform.

Includes support for windows 2012 Fglam for Foglight 5.6.7

    http://eDOCS.quest.com/Foglight/567/doc/core/SystemRequirements/platforms.2.php

But agents being inherited are not a bunch of 2012.

That's what I would have tried (and it is not guaranteed, due to the fact that we don't have a lot of 2012 windows):

I would try the package inherited from windows 2003 because windows 2008 is was not the agent of webmointor by mistake) and see if it works. That follows you suggest to use the package of windows 2003, but again, we have the unknown of the platform is windows 2012

    https://support.quest.com/SolutionDetail.aspx?ID=SOL69379&category=solutions&SKB=1

If it is a test environment and you can upgrade to Foglight 5.6.10 you can have a bit of an easier time because we have a NEW monitor of web agent which is not a part of the legacy package (it's also prettier)

    http://eDOCS.quest.com/Foglight/5610/files/CartridgeForWebMonitor_5610_ReleaseNotes.html

And then I will complete with the package inherited from Windows 2008 to monitor newspapers, it is not tested yet and don't know if officially supported but I suspect it should work (just remember to do the 'Show packages for all platforms' "when you deploy the package).

    Hope this helps.

  • Monitoring parameters Solaris CPU and memory using ATS serverstats

    Hello
I need to set up some monitors for a server Solaris 10 (server hosting Web for the Application under test) with the help of OLT. Can someone please advise as to what set up I need to access the data of Solaris CPU/memory/vmstat during performance testing?

Do I need to install something on the side Server? What a privilege user will be I have need to access this monitor on the server and what are the ports do I open?

    Concerning

    Hello
Nothing to install. He's completely remotely with ssh or telnet. (ports so standard to consider).
You need to set up what we call a "virtual agent".
Create a "monitor" using "Virtual Agent" as a source of data.
Then, you must configure your system remotely and in particular to set up the guest returned when you connect with a given user (try manually with plink first).
Then you can try the predefined settings that are not so good in my opinion. So better to create your own parameters. (find the good unix command line to retrieve the necessary information and use regular expressions to get the value of the output.

Pls first of all, you need to update plink.exe in the c:\oracleats directory (don't remember where) by downloading a newer version on the internet.

I'm sure this isn't clear at all, but with documentation, google & some effort, you should find the solution.
    See you soon

  • Define the expected in agent FTR ASP.

    Hi all

Does this really matter to 'Wait time' in his FTR Asp agent? When we have a lot of scripts monitored under an agent such as say 14,15 + ftr scripts?

    Let me know

    Thank you

It is normal to set the time expected in the FTR Agent FSA to zero.

This causes the agent uses the expected time calculated when the FTR script was published.

The best practice is to use these measured should time rather than configuring a substitution in the agent RDFS properties.

  • Comments the process survey alert

Is there a way for vFoglight to alert when a service is started using the commenting process engine? Looking through the rules, it seems that it would be possible using the physical OS cartridge, but I think that the use of the physical cartridge would result in a lot of redundant data for my virtual machines...

    The options are:
Install the fglam on the virtual machine
Deploy the cartridge of the BONE
NOT to create agents of Windows system (to avoid redundant data), but rather
Create an AppMonitor agent to monitor the process that starts a particular service
    OR
Create Windows system agents, but the collections of the CPU and memory set to 0.
    Concerning

  • process 1 or higher

We monitor the enforcement procedures with AppMonitor agent, which leaves us now if the number of processes that we define is not available. Is it possible to monitor for 1 or several processes using this agent? Example: If 1 process starts, then a second process please send an alarm.

    Yes.

AppMonitor agent collects the ProcessTotals table that has the InstancesFound metric.

For your example, you might scope rule to

    AppMonitor_ProcessTotals where process = "someprocessname."

    and set like alarm condition:

    #InstancesFound # > 1

  • IMRemoteURLConnectionAgent taking up the CPU

I need help knowing what to do with a process that has taken over from the CPU. The computer is a brand new iMac (retina 4K, 21.5 inches, end of 2015). 3.3 GHz Intel Core I7. Actually right now, I have 3 computers with this same problem.

There is a process in activity monitor called IMRemoteURLConnection Agent who gets in anywhere from 70 to 95% CPU. I already have a call with Apple and first off they had never even heard of this process. After a while they thought it was related to Messages. They said that it is constantly ping the cloud for contacts in Messages. They thought it could have been a bad image of golden and had me create a new drive bootable with the latest version and install it on computers. This helps not at all. He is still taking up all the CPU. There is same person logged into Messages. I tried to Landau and boots security dealing with issues for a few hours. Then he returned. If someone has had this problem and how you can solve this problem?

You reproduce the problem when running in safe mode?

  • Problem with the host view

    Hi all.

I have a problem with the display of my physical host information. I installed FglAM on the server, deploy the cartridge of the OS, create agent. But when I access the dashboard of the hosts, I see that my host currently does not monitor.

Agent log is good (logfile to join). I see same alarm of this host, but no performance and other information.

    Thank you

Nikolai, I recommend that you should open a case of pension for later analysis.

  • Problems with vSphere replication

    Hello

Ive been with vSphere for about a week now and I'm faced with the logic of the replication tool V.

I've been creeping (don't not trolling) forums and web trying to find a good source that can explain this plugin which is visible in my Web client installation method. I also license MORE.

This is probably the only one I can find so far: -.

    http://vknowledge.NET/2012/09/12/vSphere-5-1-getting-started-with-vSphere-replication-5-1/

What I want to achieve is to reproduce all the virtual machines on one of my servers to another identical server of the G8.

Two questions if you could help please?

    1. someone any good tutorials on it.

    2. I went and made a schoolboy error, I think, I gave the vSphere replicaiton appliance the same IP address as my ESXi host. (This is how I am wrong) and now I can not access the host because of this machine. Can someone tell me how I can reconnect to this machine without a comprehensive resettlement and reconstruction of 50 guests or more.

Thanks in advance if you can help.

It is difficult to explain the internel operation of the SRM, vsphere replication etc... in this little time...

the basics are simple... How it works... ?

There are 2 types of replication replication 1-vsphere 2-array based replication

vpshere replication is a basic agent - it's a VR agent will be there inside the esxi hosts this monitor of the agent running the virtual machine inside this host and replicates data binding if WAN remote site.

the main PR\648606FR here is - once the replication of the entire virtual machine that's happened, after that only the blocks changed the VMFS will be launched on the... which is the only the modified virtual machine data will be replicated. It's called CBT, VR agent follows the blocks inside the VMFS, if any block of virtual machine data is changed it will get replicated.

dosent it replication vsphere require no support from the underlying storage Bay...

the second is the table of a function... where the entire replication is managed by the matrix of storage... and it works with the MRS.

See the post for more details... http://communities.VMware.com/message/2175005#2175005

    now to your questions.

    1. someone any good tutorials on it. -the best method is to read the official docs...

If the esx host is clustered, using the ILO and esxi shell put the host in maintenance... mode and reset the esxi

To switch to maintenance mode, run the following command

    VMware-vim-cmd/hostsvc/maintenance_mode_enter

    and

To exit the maintenance mode, run the following command

    VMware-vim-cmd/hostsvc/maintenance_mode_exit

then restart the esxi host and give IP, or power off of the VR device and give IP
