Monitoring of processes in foglight 5.6.7

Hello

We have an obligation of monitoring of a set of processes that we need of alerts. We have a custom dashboard that displays all the processes running on the monitored hosts but when we tried to create alerts for "alert for process if he stopped", we do not get an alert.

We tried "HostProcess' topology and selected"localState"for the business process. But this force give no warning.

Please could someone suggest me how can I trigger an alert for this "State of process."

Kind regards

Shiva G

Shiva,

What is meant by cartridge are you using toe monitor all processes running on a host?

To monitor the availability of specific process, we generally use the appmonitor agent

I recommend to open a business of pension as soon as possible because it may be the best way to solve this problem.

You see warnings when you remerk the integration of Fogliight lines or are they just visible when foglight is present?

Can echo you the java command which starts weblogic, so we can see what actually works?

  • How to monitor the process and Windows activities

    Hello world

I'm a player who plays full-screen. Some process or app steals focus once every few hours, unpredictable. This me tabs effectively out of my game on the desktop. It is only an annoyance, but yet, it's a real nuisance to do without good reason.

Anything that flies focus leaves no trace of what it was, as far as I can tell. I'm just at the level of the office. (Exactly how I see what Win7 thinks has focus, if nothing seems?)

I guess it's a thread that checks the updates, or some other thing, what has been written amateur and does well with games. Some games are also poorly written in terms of, what happens if something else could mess with the office or ask for focus. My guess is that it is a collision of stuff poorly written, but who knows.

To make a long story short, is there anything I can do to see just how * had * focus (focus on the past), even if it's over now?

I highly doubt that it is one of the major applications that I am running. I usually only Word and Excel 2013, Chrome and Windows Explorer to the top. I really doubt that this is one of them, but maybe. Who knows.

It would be very difficult to test for that is happening, because it is very unpredictable. Also real inconvenient to keep my other applications closed for hours. This is why I ask if there is another way to catch the culprit himself, not all turn in everything.

    Thanks if you can help!

    HI Yann,

Thanks to you, I was able to use the event viewer on Win7 / Windows Logs / request to see that I was being thrown out of my game on the desktop when the so-called SelfServicePlugin.exe "on the road". I checked in the Task Manager / process and saw that it is a Citrix Receiver background utility.

Citrix Receiver (v. 4.1.0.56461, (c) 2013) is the remote software we use to open a session in our local network of work at home, however, the plugin is something all the time, not just at the point where it is actually using Citrix. I guess that it speeds up the loading time of Citrix, or whatever. (It seems that every piece of software must have a connection online if used or not, these days.) And no, I wasn't playing games when remoting to work, laughing. As I said, the receiver is there all the time; I was spilled on the desk in the evenings, etc.

If I unload the plugin, I stop unexpectedly, the abandonment of game (and Citrix always starts very well).

So, apparently, it is just this sloppily written plugin. I guess it is not surprising that something related to work don't care effect on the games, even after hours, laughing.

Now that I know what it is - and it's not malware - it's so much easier to deal with.

Thanks for hanging in there and answering the question directly to me! It helped a ton.

  • Foglight monitoring process

    Hi all

I got a new requirement, in which there are two servers in which we monitor the process as a whole. Is it possible using foglight to monitor any kind of process?

Need your help in this regard.

    -Shiva

We can do so with an agent named "appmonitor", it is a part of the supervision of legacy OS.

You can see and example and information about it here

  • Monitoring of the process of Linux/Unix

    Hello

What is the best way to monitor the unix/linux process using Foglight?  Suggestions welcome!

    Thank you

If you want tosee process albums that consume resources. you get that monitoring of the operating system.

If you are interested in a specific process or a set of procedures for monitoring appmonitor is the right agent.

  • Foglight cartridge for the monitoring of newspapers

    Hello

I was looking for cartridge for the monitoring of newspapers for the FMS Version: 5.6.10 and I have not found, can anyone let me know if there is any cartridge in Foglight to monitor logs. My requirment is to check the exceptions/strings in log so that I can generate alerts on it.

    Thank you

    Shashank Soni.

As mentioned Vlad, there's an agent called LogFilter, which can monitor log files

    http://eDOCS.quest.com/Foglight/5610/doc/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/HTML/frameset.htm?context=cartridgeInf&file=OSCartridge/LogFilter.1.php&single=true

It is a part of the BONES of the legacy that the cartridge is downloadable under the name

"Cartridge Foglight for operating systems 5.5.4.

    https://support.software.Dell.com/download-install-detail/4973219?prodjid=1-7GCB8-91

An example of use of the cartridge can be found in this article

    http://en.community.Dell.com/TechCenter/performance-monitoring/Foglight-administrators/w/Admins-wiki/5646.monitoring-application-availability-using-Foglight-utility-agents

The cartridge requires a Foglight Manager Agent to be deployed on the computer where the log files.

    I hope this helps.

  • Foglight monitoring log file

    Hi all

We use the IC 5.6.7 cartridge for our monitoring infra goal. We have a requirement for the windows log file monitoring so that we can trigger alerts based on the words and we have not inherited cartridge more.

Can we control logs using IC cartridge or any separate available for monitoring log files?

If it's just normal newspaper followed, you can use the logfilter officer but which does not require a fglam on the computer running target

  • Foglight and Dell Open Manager Application to monitor temperatures

I would like to know how I would be able to use Foglight to monitor Dell servers.

For example I'd like to monitor the temperature. These servers have Dell Open Manager installed on then. Can use/get Foglight all alerts to Dell Open manager?

You can use the SNMP integration to monitor traps HW via Foglight.  Check out this post for a primer http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/performance-monitoring/foglight-administrators/f/4788/t/19552981.aspx

  • Connect to monitor files using Foglight 5.6.4

    Hello

We try to use the filter of the journal agent to control the log files in our guarded environment. With the help of documents and help forums, we have known that he collect newspapers reviews and put them in the log of events and we alert.

We are in doubt, if the agent works the same for PHP applications as well? If Yes, what is the required access to the configuration of the agent on the servers PHP... and these are all components required for the deployment of the agent on the application server (as PHP applications supported versions)...

Please share us the info on this because it is very urgent and important...

    Thank you best regards &,.

    Guenoun.

Logfilter agent should work for application logs (application servers, the client connects, it doesn't care if it's PHP, Weblogic, different version or simply you have Developer logs), it's a very simple agent, once it's pointing to text log file it leans on the lines that are added to the file and send notifications when he sees the pre-defined keywords that indicate a problem...

You can see an example of the use of logfilter here

    http://en.community.Dell.com/TechCenter/performance-monitoring/Foglight-administrators/w/Admins-wiki/5646.monitoring-application-availability-using-Foglight-utility-agents

You must install Foglight Agent manager on the target computer, you must deploy agent logfilter, to point to the log files and to indicate what keywords are a symptom of a problem and the attention of what say that they indicate.

If you have a restricted environment, you can install fglam as the same user who is creating/writing these log files.

    Hope this helps

  • JRockit - process monitor JRockit java

Hello everyone, we have installed in our environment (Windows Server 2008R2) that uses the Java JRockit of Weblogic Platform. I came across the question where I cannot follow the process (connect to JVM) java through the JRMC (JRockit Mission Control) as the java process runs user SYSTEM account. This is why it does not appear as a local JVM. If I run it via my account I can monitor fine. Can anyone suggest how to monitor the process of java which was run on the SYSTEM account. I can't log in as the SYSTEM the server tho. Thank you, Viktor Ozerov

In my view, your only option is to add some flags of the jvm to WLS to enable the agent remote jmx.

    Something like

    -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote

    -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port = 7091

    -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl = false

    -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate = false

  • The process of Microsoft Windows with Hyperic HQ monitoring

    Hi all

First of all, I'll give you a quick overview of myselve. My name is Martijn you moulder and I am an employee at the MPS. As a case study, I run a trial with HypericHQ. I already know many HypericHQ functions because I did a case study of this tool before (personal use).

However, I have a question: is it possible to watch processes on Windows (as in the window when you press ctrl + alt + delete, processes tab) with HypericHQ.  If Yes, how can I do this and if not: it is possible to control batch files?

You would help me a lot in answering these questions.

    Kind regards

    Martijn you design and construction

If you're looking to monitor a process which will be always available you would install a "Process Monitor" Service by:

1.) platform that exist on the process, create a new Service platform.
2.) give this process a Service name and choose "Process" from the menu dropdown, then select OK.
3.) click the properties link on the next page setting is displayed.
4.) from this page, enter the information you want about the process, you want to monitor.  For example, on my Windows Server I can enter "State.Name.eq = hq-agent" under the text box process.query to monitor the actual hyperic agent process.  Just be sure that you enter the name of the process as it is appears in the windows task manager and "DO NOT" include the .exe file. bat. etc...

This will allow you to follow a process with the assumption that it should always be running.  To more precisely control a .bat file, you can configure a file of file server service that will let you run and collect specific information for this file.  Just do a search on the establishment of a Fileserverfile service.  Hope this helps :)

  • Including a new report of process monitor

    Hi all

I was wondering is adding a new type of report on the Workbench under process monitor reports (default reports are: Process Monitor, Process Monitor with locks, all categories of process, process status period monitor range, process monitor sorted by location hierarchy) I might modify the information showed by this 'new report '.

For example if I generate the process with locks monitor, it will display all only place that I have in my application, but I need this 'new report' to see the only some of these places filtered by an attribute, I supposs the correct way to do currently to locate and modify the script being called by the adapter to publish this report. The problem is that I can't find what is called script.

I'm wrong and this publication process is done through a already compile library, a .dll file? If this is the case is anyway to replace this call?

I hope I made my problem clear enough

    Thank you

    Hello
Log on to FDQM (FDM) work bench customer, and then click Reports tab.

Copy the report you want to edit and paste (I prefer to do it this way, we will create all the problems in the existing reports)
change the description of the report.

Right-click on the report now. Definition of report clcik properties, tab click SQL on the top.

Now add vpartcatpercartesian.partname like '% E '. so, you will get only the localities beginning with E in your report.
