Monitoring of the process of Linux/Unix

Hello

What is the best way to monitor the unix/linux process using Foglight?  Suggestions welcome!

Thank you

Davie

If you want tosee process albums that consume resources. you get that monitoring of the operating system.

If you are interested in a specific process or a set of procedures for monitoring appmonitor is the right agent.

You can see an example of use of appmonitor here

  • Portege Z930: The update of the BIOS with LINUX/UNIX OS

    Hello.

I manage a COMPUTER company, and some of our facilities are portege z930.

We use Linux as main OS, and in order to use all the disk space, we erased the Windows partition.

How can I update the BIOS of a Linux operating system? I asked a support company official technichal, and they told me that they use a special live linux CD managed by Toshiba.

I don't know if I can get this cd somehow live. If this isn't the case, I would like to know how to upgrade our Bios without having to reinstall the Windows operating system.

    Thanks in advance!

As far as I know on the download page of the BIOS that Toshiba offers the Windows version only. Of way General Linux is not supported.
Try to contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. Maybe they can get this special CD.

By the way: why you didn t prepared machine (BIOS update) before starting to install Linux?

  • Try to follow the process of operating system Linux / error: object is not available

I'm running vROPs 6.2 and installed the agent on a RHEL 6.4 Server epops. This box is running vCD. I want to use vROPS to monitor the processes for the vCD. I created the following object:

    Name: vCD Watchdog

    Adapter type: Ops EP adapter

    Object type: MultiProcess

    Process.Query: State.Name.eq = VMware-vcd-watchdog

    Collection interval: 5 minutes

After the first interval of the collection, I get the message "the object is not available" I can't find any other information on the error. I thought it would be something to do with the process.query so I checked the documents vROPs and only found this:

    Manually create OS objects

They speak of how the request and set an example. Google search, I can't find a list of classes or attributes that are acceptable to both that I know: State.Name.eq and Pid.PidFile.eq.

I'm looking for some advice on that. Can anyone help?

Not sure if I understand your question now, but for me it looks promising now:

    4 pargs 2195

    PID = 2195

    exe = / bin/bash

    DLG = /.

    0 => / bin/bash<>

    1 => / opt/VMware/vcloud-Director/bin/VMware-vcd-watchdog<>

It is your process, then try something like:

    State.Name.eq=bash,Args.1.eq=/ OPT/VMware/vcloud-Director/bin/VMware-vcd-watchdog

(please post if find you a proper syntax...)

  • The process of Microsoft Windows with Hyperic HQ monitoring

    Hi all

First of all, I'll give you a quick overview of myselve. My name is Martijn you moulder and I am an employee at the MPS. As a case study, I run a trial with HypericHQ. I already know many HypericHQ functions because I did a case study of this tool before (personal use).

However, I have a question: is it possible to watch processes on Windows (as in the window when you press ctrl + alt + delete, processes tab) with HypericHQ.  If Yes, how can I do this and if not: it is possible to control batch files?

You would help me a lot in answering these questions.

    Kind regards

    Martijn you design and construction

If you're looking to monitor a process which will be always available you would install a "Process Monitor" Service by:

1.) platform that exist on the process, create a new Service platform.
2.) give this process a Service name and choose "Process" from the menu dropdown, then select OK.
3.) click the properties link on the next page setting is displayed.
4.) from this page, enter the information you want about the process, you want to monitor.  For example, on my Windows Server I can enter "State.Name.eq = hq-agent" under the text box process.query to monitor the actual hyperic agent process.  Just be sure that you enter the name of the process as it is appears in the windows task manager and "DO NOT" include the .exe file. bat. etc...

This will allow you to follow a process with the assumption that it should always be running.  To more precisely control a .bat file, you can configure a file of file server service that will let you run and collect specific information for this file.  Just do a search on the establishment of a Fileserverfile service.  Hope this helps :)

  • Starting and stopping the process GG

GG admin guide I understand we can start/stop the GG (excerpt, pump, Replicat) procedures through shell scripts, and it is mentioned that it can be invoked from a script to start/stop/go. Are there restrictions on these operations?

We intend to implement the process of stop/start GG in our application scenario where you need to update the source DB (and thus the target DB also) through a batch process at regular intervals (once a week, can also be less frequent). The plan is the first above mentioned stop GG process, update source DB with the latest data, transfer data to target the DB using exp/imp, restart GG treats using the SNA option after. All these steps are automated.

From the tests above of initial works but don't know if GG power operation is strong enough to manage the scenarios on a regular basis and will work. Are there known issues with these operations such as disorders while implementation power which makes it unfit for use through scripts like the one mentioned above.

Enjoy all the entries in the present.

    Thank you

The process can be run from the command line and are just as reliable as any other executable UNIX regarding commissioning correctly if all the prerequisites are met.

To launch the Manager from the command line
To run the management of the control of the operating system interface, use the following syntax.
    Bishop paramfile [ reportfile]

On the source and target systems, publishes one of the following sets of commands
in the process, you are a beginner. Run the Oracle programs
    Directory of GoldenGate.
extract paramfile .prm reportfile .rpt [Pei ]
    or...
    replicat paramfile .prm reportfile .rpt

You can automate the monitoring, and it's an exercise as any monitoring process (for example, the tail of the alerts log and grep for errors ORA, logs of web server of grep, etc..). You can see extract and replicat upstairs / ongoing run, so you can also use Director (Management Pack).

  • Isolate the process Workflow Mailer

No one knows what the workflow mailer process shows that with regard to a unix process. I am trying to isolate the process in order to control if it breaks down. I have the process monitoring software that can tell me if the process stops.

You can also any way to alert me to the failure of mailer?

I have toyed with the idea of a grep / pattern match (for example, error, no etc.) against the mailer log file (even if the file name of course is not a fixed name when it comes to the sender, but at least the prefix is!)

  • The process APPNOS and APPTS are devouring my RAM and make my computer very slow.

Hello, I have an iMac (late 2012) 2.7 Ghz intel core i5 with 8 GB of RAM. Lately, my computer has been extremely slow and almost unusable for the last 4 days. After repeatedly to close the market and stop, I finally could open the activity monitor after about 25 minutes of loading. I was shocked to see that the process APPNOS and APPTS consumed 13 GB of RAM each, with a total of 27 GB of RAM used even if my computer has only 8 GB of RAM. I left the two processes of strength and my computer still worked once, normal, but these processes continue to pour every time my computer sleeps. I hope that someone knows what these processes are and how they arise or eat more RAM that I stop.

For what it's worth, update macOS Sierra from El Capitan did nothing.

  • How to apply to market when the fact that the process?

Yesterday my firefox worked fine, but now when I click on one of my shortcuts, nothing happens. When I opened my task manager, I see the firefox.exe process is turned on but not the actual application. I tried to make it work for two hours. I rebooted the computer 3 times but in vain. I also ran AVG PC Tune Up, which eliminated the recording errors, Defrag, junk files and broken shortcuts with no improvement. I also ran a cache and the cookie cleaner and still nothing.

What happens when you click Ctrl + N, a new window opens when the process is running?

If she runs, and it does not show a new window, kill the process in the taskbar and double click on the new icon to see if it opens. If this isn't the case, please try a clean reinstall.

Some Firefox problems can be solved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you remove Firefox program files, and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

Note: You can print these steps or consult them in another browser.

    1. Download the latest version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org office and save the installer to your computer.
    2. Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (click on quit in the file menu or Firefox).
    3. Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
      • Windows:

        • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
        • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
      • Mac: Delete Firefox in the Applications folder.
      • Linux: If you have installed Firefox with the distribution-based package manager, you must use the same way to uninstall: see Install Firefox on Linux. If you have downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
    4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
      1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
      2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.

I think I've fixed the problem, I formatted FAT16 USB drive and not in FAT32 and also when you use the geteltorito command, it is preferable to use the-o option rather than a redirection ">"syntax. " An article said that it is best to drop in a DOS command line using the USB boot, then run dosflash.exe from there, however, I could not edit the .bat file, but it is an option however.

I hope this helps someone stuck in a similar situation.

  • Help to "problem"-WRT54G, Linux, Unix and Windows ".

I have a Linksys WRT54G rev 6, firmware version v8.00.7 011, July 27, 2009.  My ADSL modem is a modem DSL from Westell G90-610014-20 revD.  My home network is 'predominantly' Windows wireless clients and a wireless printer, who don't have no problems or issues between them.  These 2 PC can see each other, share files, print, see internet, etc.  My PDA Smart Phone connect wireless... the grand-kids PSP jumps in full and they are all happy.

Then, a few steps in my box... Multi-boot with Win7 Pro 64-bit, Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit, Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Desktop Edition 64-bit, OpenSolaris 2010.03 snv_134 and some other OS' are.  It is connected to the #2 router's ethernet port.  This PC connects to the internet very well with all OS' are.  When I start to the top of any OS "Windows" on the subject, I can see the entire network, connect, fileshare, printing, etc. Life is beautiful...

When this PC is displayed under Ubuntu, OpenSolaris or Solaris - I have internet and I can print.  I can see 'only' the router, modem and printer (and not the other PC) I can ping the router, printer and modem (not the other PC through services called) or intellectual property.  I can not connect, fileshare, etc..  In these OS' are I Samba, CIFS, Wins, etc. installed.  My windows clients cannot see my PC either, BUT I can ping and mount the fileshares to this PC via the IP (not via the designated services. If I boot one of this Windows Linux clients, this PC can see my PC with the IP address and name services.  Linux to linux, he'll see, connect, share.  I had 'other recheck my config on Samba, CIFS and wins... and nobody can find any problems there.

I see 'all' clients in the Client DHCP of the router table.  The router is dynamically assign addresses without any conflicts.  The router I ping the Linux/Unix/Windows (my) box.  It cannot ping my windows wireless clients.  All "client" devices have DHCP enabled with autoconfig.

At first I thought I had a double NAT courses so I filled the modem and the reconfig'ed my router to the router to the modem of the equation.  (Now just a stupid modem.)  Time of Internet connection are now vantastic... improved my time to download updates and upgrades and network load is down... BUT, the same problems/no change.

I turned "logging" the router, but as of yet, I have not found where those who connect so I can revisit!  I wonder if I have something to do between the wire &... but that "should" be transparent shouldn't it?  I don't know if "everything that he must have spent, or if something is filtering or stop"it "(?)"  I'm really running out of ideas on what to check, test, change... on what "might" happen.

    Help!

Thank you... 'All' went through on my desktop and my network and I was doing the wrong assumptions.  The last PC for installation on this network was my office, so I assumed that it connect to my laptop, it was a problem with the desktop computer.

What I've discovered, is that it "is" the problem of the laptop (on the contrary), somewhere in the services of the Windows Vista Home Premium network or settings, device drivers, etc..  "Is not" (or at least now) a router or hardware problem.

He kept bothers me, I couldn't ping my laptop from my PC, or my router.  I had no access to customers 'other' Windows until late last night, when I found that 'they' have connection problems and ping the laptop too!  I guess...

I started this laptop on a Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop Edition LiveCD - and then could ping to it to both my desktop PC and my router, configuration this laptop in wireless (same device) and connect to the same wireless network.  Sort, which confirms that this is not a hardware problem on the laptop.  It confirms that it is not a router or network problem.  It narrows down my path to how 'Vista' networking services, device drivers, settings, etc. from Vista. The hunt continues, but this thread is "finished".  The problem lies elsewhere...

  • Comments the process survey alert

Is there a way for vFoglight to alert when a service is started using the commenting process engine? Looking through the rules, it seems that it would be possible using the physical OS cartridge, but I think that the use of the physical cartridge would result in a lot of redundant data for my virtual machines...

    The options are:
Install the fglam on the virtual machine
Deploy the cartridge of the BONE
NOT to create agents of Windows system (to avoid redundant data), but rather
Create an AppMonitor agent to monitor the process that starts a particular service
    OR
Create Windows system agents, but the collections of the CPU and memory set to 0.

    Hello!
Wie use vFoglight to monitor our virtual environment and we habe too active processes.
My question is this: we want to have a report about how the top on the hosts monitored (with the name of the process and CPU/memory usage). I have not found a model or a metric for this. Is this possible?
    Thanks in advance!

This is not a canned report that comes with the system. Usually you can create a report of any dashboard vFoglight by using the action panel on the right side of the interface, if this is not possible, then you should contact your sales or account holder in Vizioncore in order to request a customization.

    1. open the Cisco Office administrator.

2 expand location then your 'server name' LCC.

    3. Select "Configuration of the office.
