  Have you checked on the vmware site if your version of vmware is compatible with the update, whether you did or not?

• Are there risks in downloading / using VMware?

  I want to check if I'll be able to run a workshop manual of car on my Macbook pro (mid-2009, El Capitan). The website offering it says it will take me to download and install VMware fusion, then VMware player. Does anyone know if there is a risk for my machine by doing this?

  There is no risk of running Vmware Fusion, Parallels or VirtualBox which are all of the virtual machines that allow you to run Microsoft Windows on your computer. I guess that you will be running Windows in the VM. Go to the website of fusion for instructions about installing merge then merge Windows.   I plan to put VMware Fusion 8.0 on my new Mac Mini, so I can run an older version of Quicken for Mac 2006 R7.   My old Mac Mini still works, but given that the OSX can not be upgraded beyond v. 10.6.8 some programs and Firefox work just not so well, and I was starting to think I have some security issue too.

  I could get another monitor to the old Mini and not allow access to the internet, but it would still need to save every day at least to one of the external drives. Or, I could attach it to my current monitor along the coast the new Mini, using the D - SUB cable. I've never used the D - SUB connection, so not sure how good the view will be if two Minis share the same monitor. If I could afford to buy another monitor, I'd do it, but now, money is tight after the purchase of my new Mini and a new MBP for my daughter who is in College (his old MB was a 2008 model, no place to upgrade more, so it's very, very slow).

  Where you might have problems to run older versions of Quicken rather that perhaps in Quicken for Windows in your virtual machine running Windows or just the new version of Quicken for Mac without running a virtual machine. But I don't know much about Quicken.

  I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite U500-115.
  After you install all the programs I need, I noticed that the eco and the start/stop button lights buttons didn t work anymore.

  I uninstalled programs Toshiba - nothing works. So I installed win 7 pro x 64 again.
  Buttons worked!!

  I discovered that vmware workstation 6 and 7 are at the origin of this problem.
  As soon as I install the vmworkstation software the keys won´t work.
  Uninstall--> buttons work.
  I don't want to use both: buttons and vmware 6 or 7.
  It seems to work with vmware 5.x, but this version of vmware is officially not recommended to work with win7. It takes about 10 minutes push button vmware initially until the vm ware starts booting.

  Perhaps someone could confirm this problem.

  Maybe it sounds pessimistic now, but I don't think you'll have a quick solution to this.
  The feature tools and utilities Toshiba is tested with the own operating system preinstalled and not with some third-party additional party software.
  Can you imagine how these applications you will find there? Who should test the functionality with hundreds of other application? It is certainly not possible.

  I use VmWare, but I imagine that there is a problem where two applications met the other.

  Sorry, but I don't think that there is nothing you can do about it.

  Seems all these 3rd party applications and programs have a bad influence on the configuration of the laptop and the utility of Toshiba controls internal.

  I do not know how to solve this problem but it certainly not a problem of Toshiba.

  I have a problem following needs your help.

  I have a Portege R-400 with 3 G build-in modem. It is installed Windows 7. All is well until I install the VMWare Player 3.0.

  Without modem 3G connection, each application still works fine. (I use WiFi most of the time.)

  When I'm not in measure use WiFi and connect with 3G, without starting VMWare Player, the system freezes within 5 to 20 minutes.

  The symptom is without any response to the keyboard and mouse, but can see HD light flashing.

  Then, I'll try Virtual PC from microsoft. He may have the same problem, too.

  It will be very appreciated if there is no solution for this problem.

  Dear Mike is a rather complicated question. I mean Toshiba muss well deliver books and work with the factory settings, everything should work fine.
  If you use some third-party software of the part and if something goes wrong, it can be really complicated.

• ThinPro with VMware View USB Redirection

  Hi all:

  I'm trying to configure my workstation (t620 ThinPro 5.1 running) to start required services necessary for USB with VMware View forwarding at startup.  I tried to add the command to /etc/rc.local and created my own init.d script, but none of these options automatically launch services.  Run manually /etc/rc.local and the custom init.d script launches the services successfully.

  Has someone managed to get the necessary USB redirection services running at the start?  Any guidance is appreciated.

  Solved my problem... changed under USB Manager Remote Protocol of VMware View.  Updated this setting caused VMware services to run at startup.
