Move Windows OEM to another machine

What is the procedure to remove the OEM of Windows Vista (with Windows 7 upgrade) of the original machine version and installing it on another machine? Is it still possible?

I know that it can be installed on a machine, but I would like to (leglly) install on another machine.

Thank you.

OEM versions are tied to the machine on which it was initially installed. You can legally do this, you will need to purhase one commercial version to the other machine.

    Hello

You tell us if you have a sale at retail or OEM System Builders license for Windows 7; only that you have your own license.

It's the General rules on the transfer of Windows licenses

If the computer/laptop comes with the preinstalled Windows operating system (Dell, HP, Acer, etc.) or is licensed to OEM System Builders, that the product key that came with the computer/laptop is preinstalled OEM license and is not transferable.

OEM license/product key (systems of operating pre-installed on Dell, HP, etc.) and the license OEM System Builders are related to the first machine it is installed on and dies when machine who dies.

Only retail Operating System license that you buy and install yourself, are allowed to be transferred to another machine.

And retail licenses also can be installed on a machine at one time.

When you reinstall a retail license, you may need to make a phone Activation.

If it does require phone activation, do not follow Demand of Auto, but brace yourself for a real person explain as to what has been done for purposes of re-setup

  • 1515eo: move Windows OEM to SSD

    Hello

I make one of these SSD on my HP PC. And I want to transfer my operating system to it.

Now my question is, how do I activate windows when I have the OEM windows where I think that the key is activated for my motherboard. How can I transfer my windows on my SSD.

I had Windows 8 early on, now I have upgraded to windows 10.

@Peos98001: activation of the Win10 is, in fact, related to the motherboard - but you say nothing about how to change that.

Information from the hard drive is not part of the activation information stored on the servers of activation of Ms.  Once a machine (Microsoft refers to it as a 'device') is activated, you can change the hard disk (and other components) as often as you want and it will remain activated.

How do I know this? Simple - I did EXACTLY what you plan to do - migrate my installation Win10 of a HDD to SSD.  And when I rebooted with the SSD, the activation remained intact - there wasn't anything I had to do.

    Good luck

  • How can I move windows 7 (not OE), to another machine after upgrade to windows 10?

I have a machine that has Windows 7 Ultimate installed on it, as a clean install from a CD with a code.  I upgraded this Windows 10 machine and I want to spend the nec plus ultra 7 to another machine.  How to "Uninstall" or "Turn off" Windows 7 in the computer being upgraded so that I can activate it on another computer after a clean install?

If you upgrade Windows 7 Ultimate edition free update of Windows 10, you cannot move Windows 7 Ultimate edition to another machine because the free update used Windows 7 Ultimate edition as an eligible basic license.

Only if you have installed a full version of Windows 10 license would you be able to transfer the license of Windows 7 to a new computer.

Otherwise, you will need to purchase a new license of Windows 7.

Moved the database to the new host then updated all the AMT etc. settings for the database at its new location, the AMT settings in the emoms.properties of SGD configuration file and change the line oracle.sysman.eml.mntr.emdRepConnectDescriptor to the location of repoisotory.

  • Can I move my Vista license to another machine and remove the original?

New operating system installed, same key, different Machine

I currently have Vista running on my laptop but I'm the upgrade/transition to a desktop computer. I plan also scratching my laptop / Linux loading it and wait for the computer to finally die. Can I install Vista on my new desktop PC and use the product key, I used for my laptop to Vista installation? If Yes, where can I find the key?

Edit: The laptop came with XP and I've upgraded to Vista

    Hello

The retail license can be transferred to another machine

but you have a problem that you only have a license to upgrade to vista

you need an operating system that is installed to upgrade

If you have received the upgrade to vista from your manufacturer of computers as part of the purchase transaction, it is related to the original computer

  • Move the rack fx presets to another machine

I have a bunch of strings of model fx in AA CS6 which I want to pass on my laptop so that my machines are essentially mirrored.

How to copy all the different model parameters like the one shown below to another machine?

    fx rack.png

    Thanks for the help!

    Hello

The custom effect presets file is stored in the following locations, depending on the OS:

    Mac OS X: ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Audition/5.0/EffectPresets.xml

    Win XP: C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Adobe\Audition\5.0\EffectPresets.xml

    Win 7: C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Audition\5.0\EffectPresets.xml

You should be able to copy the files to a system and replace it on the other to share presets.  Note that 'Library' under OS X and "AppData" on Win7 can be hidden by default and you will need to manually enter these places.

  • Need to move a disk of 1 machine to another

We have a few r.620 dell poweredge machines... they have 2 dedicated spare parts

We want to remove 1 on dedicated to putting in another machine spare parts.

I was able to do this.

    omconfig action storage vdisk controller = assigndedicatedhotspare = 0 = 0 = pdisk vdisk assign 0:1:5 = no

but when I try to do action = delete I get this

omconfig action of pdisk storage = delete controller = pdisk 0 = 0:1:5
Operation not supported. Reading, action = delete
Refer to the documentation for more information.

I guess I can just pull the drive... but why say its not supported, but the action is there for me to use?

I'm not a guy big omconfig, but once you have assigned the disk, there is no further action to be taken - it is completely not associated with a virtual disk and is essentially ready to be configured or removed.  I'm not sure what you hope to action = delete will accomplish.  Action = remove ("prepare to remove") also seems to only be supported on PERC 3/4 controllers and is not applicable to controllers PERC 5/6/7/8.

  • You can use version for VM Windows OEM license

    1. can I use OEM version for virtual machine window.

2 in case I created a new copy and removed the old how it will affect license.
    3. If I want to create a new virtual machine by throwing an old can I use same OEM license
    Thanks in advance

Yes, you can use the OEM System Builder License in a virtual machine.

In what concerns by deleting and recreating a VM, I don't know to be honest, given the virtual machine itself is considered to be a computer and to move the license to a new virtual machine would be considered in the eyes of the LICENSE as another machine.

What I suggest do you after installing Windows 7 OEM in a virtual machine and activate it, you must create a snap shot of your active install. When you are ready to throw a virtual machine just back to the snapshop so it will look like new.

  • activate, already activated on another machine

I had Vista Ultimate installed craftsmanship home machine, then I bought Windows 7 Pro and installed on the same machine, so I have Vista Ultimate on nothing, and then decided to install the ultimate to my laptop at home which had Vista Home. allow me to turn on the laptop, said already active on another machine, BTW this is Vista OEM

If the Ultimate license is OEM, you can not transfer it.

The license of Vista OEM is related to the original computer it is installed on and dies with the computer.
You cannot transfer it to another computer/laptop

If a license of Vista at retail, you can transfer it to another computer/laptop.
But it can only be installed on one computer at a time.

  • Can I use the Windows key from another computer non-working on my computer?

Can I use the Windows key from another computer non-working on my computer? I took the key of this computer and used on my current computer, but I get a message indicating that the key is not authentic, even if it is directly from a previously active computer.

    Original title: Activation

    Hello

No.; If the operating system on the other came computer preinstalled (Dell, HP, Acer, etc.) you can't use it on another PC.

If the laptop/computer came with preinstalled Windows operating system (Dell, HP, Acer, etc.), this product key provided with your computer/laptop to the OEM license preinstalled and is not transferable.

OEM license/product key (systems of operating pre-installed on Dell, HP, etc.) is related to the first machine it is installed on and dies when dies of this machine.

Only retail Operating System license that you buy and install yourself, are allowed to be transferred to another machine.

And retail licenses also can be installed on a machine at one time.

I have a pc 3 for W7 license, but I updated all the machines to W8.  Can I transfer a license to another machine?

3 PC for Windows 7 license usually means that you have the Home Premium 'Family Pack' which is an 'Upgrade' of Windows 7 version.

    (1) If you have used a version of "Downloading" or a boxed version of Windows 8, then you cannot use / transfer the product key of Windows 7 on another computer, as it was the basis for the upgrade to Windows 8.

    (2) If you used a version OEM/System Builders of Windows 8 (which only allows you to perform a "Clean" installation) then Yes you can re - use the product key of Windows 7 on another computer, but he will need to phone activation.

  • Can I use the same windows on my virtual machine?

I had windows pre-installed in my dell laptop (Latitude E6420). I did not have the cd key but I extracted using a program called Magical jelly bean key finder. Now, I have the following information on my windows installation

Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1
    Product no.: XXXXXXXX
    Installed from media "OEM."
    Product ID: XXXXX-OEM-XXXXXXXX
    CD Key: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
    Computer name: XXXXX
    Registered owner: XXXXX
    Registered organization: Microsoft
Now, I want to install linux on my machine and use the current windows in a virtual machine inside the linux host. Is is possible if I completely uninstall this windows of my computer and reinstall the virtual machine with the same key?
I'm not very familiar with this also can someone guide me what are the steps I have to take if this is possible.

    Hi Andre,

Thank you for your answer, but this does not completely answer my question. I also read that OEM installation does not install the same windows on another machine (virtual machine is like different machine even if I do this on the same machine) and installation of the mine is OEM type.

More important still, how install windows in the virtual environment? If I format the computer and install linux, in addition to this install virualbox and install inside windows that use the cd - key and it will work. ? I doubt it because the windows is already activated in this machine.

The extract of the contract (EULA) for Windows 7 and applies to the retail and OEM of Windows 7 versions. So, Yes, you can reinstall it in a Virtual Machine.

Yes, you will need to format the machine under Linux, then reinstall Windows 7 in a computer program virtual suitable as Oracle Virtual Box 4.2, VMWare Player 5.0 or VMWare Workstation. You can then use the product key located on the COA sticker to reactivate the license.
