Equium A200-Vista repair always at boot

Dear all,

This is my first time in the forums and I need help.
I have a computer Equium A200 laptop running Windows Vista 32. Recently, I got a malware problem and my only recourse was to erase everything and use the Toshiba Recovery disk that was provided.

I reinstalled and the computer restarted without any problem... However if I stop completely for a short time, when the machine starts again the Windows Startup Repair keeps operating. I have let it run its course, but it never actually repairs anything. I even wiped all new just ran the recovery disc that put on the basis of windows vista, closed the machine for about a minute and then he did it again, windows startup repair yes returned.

My bios is the latest version and I ran a test on the memory and hard drive... all diagnoses appear correct.

My laptop is still under warranty.

Can anyone help please?

Thank you
Ray

Hi dude

Your question is really strange to be honest I have never seen anything like it.
Of course, the repair function on Vista is known to me and my repaired the system Vista in the past too, but this doesn t always appear at the start of the laptop.

However, I imagine that this issue has something to do with your system and you should first try to clean with the CCleaner. It is a free tool and it repairs the operating system and the registry.

More upgrade Vista to the last State. Install SP1 and all other updates.
Maybe it helps!

Good luck

Want to know if it's OK to upgrade Equium A200 with Vista to Windows 7
I ran the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. It lists several Toshiba applications and/or drivers with the comment "we have no information on this version of the program compatibility. It usefully links to the site of Toshiba Windows 7 Upgrade and finally at this link.

    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/KBA9A02PX0000R01.htm

"For the Toshiba PC models listed below, Toshiba provides support 'Limited pilot' on a new installation of the operating system Microsoft Windows 7.

    No Equium model is listed.
That hell "limited support" means in what concerns the Equium A200 + Windows 7. IOW, is it OK to upgrade to Windows 7?

    TIA,
    Peter

    > That on Earth "limited support" means in what concerns the Equium A200 + Windows 7. IOW, is it OK to upgrade to Windows 7?

This means that not all or no drivers Win 7 for models that are not included in the list would be released.
There are two possibilities to install win 7.

-You can do a clean install.
This means to format the entire HARD drive and reinstalling Windows 7 on a fresh formatted partition or HARD drive.
In this case, you will need to install all the drivers

-You can do an update from Win Vista to Win 7
In this case that would be installed Windows 7 over Vista and that provide a benefit. Vista installed drivers (not all but a lot) can be used by Win 7.
As you know, many Vista drivers are compatible with Win 7 and it is why some Vista drivers can work on Win 7.

  • IPod does not work under Windows Vista on Equium A200

I've had my Ipod for over a year now, I used it fine on my old computer that worked in XP.
I now have my laptop Equium A200 Vista-based series.
When I plugged my ipod to it, he appeared and asked if I would like to connect my ipod to the computer instead of the other pc, so I agreed.
He erased all my songs, if I can put my new music.
Once he did my laptop could not pick up my ipod anywhere.

When I connect my ipod to the laptop makes a noise to show that it is recognized that it is connected but when I go to itunes it is not.
I've been in the Device Manager to check it it has a symble of the ipod with a! mark next to him, so I click on put up-to-date driver, but nothing is ever found.
My Ipod charged fine and works fine, I've been on the Web site of apple that I restored my ipod all they sugested solutions but nothing seems to work. Can anyone please help me that I miss using my ipod.

Sorry if I posted in the wrong place first time user don't know my way around the site still.

HM, maybe you need to reinstall the Ipod software. It would be the only idea I have. Otherwise you should take a look at the BIG Apple forum. ;)

  • Re: Equium A200-1V0: Vista won't load - system restore does not

    Toshiba Equium A200-1V0, purchased January ' 08
    Vista Home Premium

Upgrade office 2007, rebooted fine, saved all the files. I went looking for vista security updates & Office including. Net3.0 - pc crashed during installation. F8 to repair pc & system restore to front office installed. everything seemed well & rebooted ok so I have backed up all critical files.

reinstalled office 2007 & vista hanging on the required reboot.

Try to load in safe mode & vista hangs at crcdisk.sys. It was suggested to remove all pcmcia & 1394 drivers, but the switches/s/p do not work in command prompt so I can't be sure enough to find them all to delete or rename.

F8 for pc repair & while the menu appears, it is very slow to get there.
Startup Repair detects no problem, System Restore won't work, so assuming that restore lost points (there were a few elders before the one I went to). Command prompt will run.

Toshiba has provided a system restore disc, but crashes after language selection. It was suggested that the disk was duff, so I downloaded the ISO to a disk of vista without the extras toshiba restore & that said it is loading & then sits right on the blue/green screen of vista.

I have a basic family official OEM of Vista editing copy for a new machine, I do build, so tried to boot from a full installation of windows (without formatitng) - this also hangs on the blue/green screen of vista. This is my first to face with a laptop without a correct installation disc, so if I format & reinstall the will I lose the recovery partition?

Any other ideas of what to try?

    Hello

I think that it s nothing wrong with the software, but with the hardware
If the reinstallation of Vista is not possible then this could be caused by a hardware problem
I can only suggest on the malfunction of HARD, RAM disk. Everything is possible

If I you would be then I would format the whole HARD drive I would be to delete all partitions and would try to reinstall the operating system from the recovery CD

If it is not possible, then you should ask the ASP in your country for a control from laptop s!

    Good luck

  • Equium A200 - gel/boot/loader problem

    Hello

I have an Equium A200-1V0 with what I see is a common problem on many forums I find via google, but I can't find any solution for it.

    1. the laptop does not (No bios screen) when the charger is connected.
    2. it will normally start with the charger connected. However, the battery, even if the rest in charge, will deplete once vista started well. When I plug the charger then it freezes.

I use an authentic charger. Any ideas? Don't you think it's just the battery? Or y at - it something on the map at the origin of this problem?

    Hello

I think that in the first stage, the charger must be tested.
I read a few threads in various forums and a user had a similar problem and could solve this in replacement AC adapter.

But of course it is no guarantee that it would be a solution, you will need to test this

    My parents got an Equium A200 - 1V0 (model #: PSAF5E)

I ran the Windows 7 Upgrade advisor and have tried to solve the problems identified. Happened very well, with the exception of a single element, "value added Package. He noted that an updated version is available, but the link leads to the generic URL toshiba.com.

I think that the original version was 1.0.x and I installed the latest version that I could find for Vista 32 bit when I went to the product page.

But once the update to 1.1.7 advise points out that there is an update - but I'm not. Or don't State Advisor if the update is required, it just says: they do not have the compatibility information about this version.

When tried other discs, he says that the installation can not see a HARD drive and this forum search, I think I need some kind of driver HDD or Sata driver but I can't find something that works. There is nothing on the page to download the driver for this model.

Does anyone know what I need? I have the laptop on my desk was sitting in the place where you can load third-party drivers 3rd in the Vista installation.

    Hello

I think you need the SATA drivers if the Vista installer for the s can not see the HARD drive.
Go page European driver Toshiba and choose your model of laptop.
Then choose the package of Robson for Vista 64 bit (no matter that you have 32-bit).

You can find the SATA drivers in this package of Robson.
    In the folder: Winall\Driver\

I think the files within this folder should help you

  • Equium A200-1V0 - how to use the Toshiba Recovery CD product?

I used the reinstall xp on desktop before but do not need to do a reinstall on your laptop (toshiba) with vista with their product recovery disc. With vista, I had to find my own drivers etc. after the OS is installed on a clean drive.

I want to clean the disc by using a product of drive wipe as Dariks boot and nuke (used on office/xp computers some time and as a very clean before you reinstall drive) on my laptop Toshiba Equium A200-1V0 before inserting the product recovery cd.

    Questions-
    (1) is it ok to erase drive with DBAN - this usually effect the ability of the recovery CD to do its job?
    (2) how can I use the product recovery cd or it is free it is exposed just charge, boot from the cd and follow the instructions online?
    (3) it will return the laptop to the factory shipping status (i.e. don't have no need to look for the drivers, etc.)?

Thank you very much for your help - just need to be reassured that have not is it a wipe and reinstall on your laptop and vista with a "recovery disc" (always a disc not specify that it is a full copy of the operating system

    James

    Hello James

The recovery procedure everything is very simple and here are the answers to your questions:

    # You should not do. Before installing recovery starts the disk HARD integer will be automatically formatted, created new partitions and OS will be installed on the first
    # Start Notepad and press F12 repeatedly to enter the boot menu. When the menu is displayed a recovery media in the optical disc drive. In the menu choose the CD/DVD drive and press ENTER. Follow the meny on the screen. After that two or three click OK installation will be implemented.
    # Yes

When the installation is complete just start computer laptop again and wait until the operating system will be prepared for the first start. It is not necessary to install any additional software.

  • Equium A200-1V0 using XP - recent conversion issues.

    * Hi, *.

    * I recently inherited my laptop the girls, he had vista installed on it. I'm not a big fan so decided to install xp. I found a great guide on the forum, see below, (the topic is now locked) *.

    The original guide:

+ How to install XP Home on the following Vista laptop. 05/01/08 +.
    + PSAF5E + Toshiba Equium A200-1V0

    + Introduction
+ Here are the measures taken by us to remove our Toshiba laptop Vista and replace it with XP Home. There may be inconsistencies in our methods and we cannot have all the correct drivers installed, but everything seems to work OK for us. +
+ Our laptop now runs much faster, opens and closes more quickly and is more stable. +

+ This isn't a 5 minute operation. It should not be attempted by anyone with only a knowledge of passage of computers because it is very easy to screw things. The shop you bought your PC against them will load a lot to fix things and they will probably insist reinstall Vista! +
+ Be prepared that this would also probably negate your warranty. +

+ Luckily, I have a 2nd PC under XP, which allows me to access the web. This is very useful because it means that when your Vista machine is "broken" you can always find help and download the driver files. I also used my 2nd PC to create the XP installation updated the CD discussed later. +
+ You must have access to the web via a PC or another to get the necessary drivers. +

    + Method +.
+ First, even if you have Vista on your laptop, download and run a program of interrogation as "Belarc advisor" that lists all the drivers and software installed on your laptop. Print it out for future reference. It will be useful later when searching on the web for all drivers that may require updating. +
+ Now, make sure that you noted on all the necessary settings for your Internet connection. +
+ Also, back up the files that you may have placed on the hard drive you will lose the lot, including emails and the address books and web bookmarks etc. +

+ Unfortunately, the Toshiba disk that comes with this laptop does not appear to have all the required drivers with it. Instead, I think it relies on Vista keeping copy on your hard drive. It's not very bright that when the disk fails, you have lost everything! +
+ This means to go on the web and the search of all the required drivers run the XP successfully. +
+ Some we have found, for example the wireless network adapter, however this was not a problem because once we had installed XP and connected to the Internet through an Ethernet cable to our router, we were able to run 'Update Driver' for each missing item. +
+ Go to "Device Manager" via "Control Panel" then "System" and then "hardware". Then look for any yellow question mark for all the problems. Right-click and run 'Update Driver' for the Hardware Update Wizard and allow the PC to search the web "this time only. +
+ The ones we made in this way were: wireless adapter, Audio adapter. +

+ Unfortunately an original CD of XP SP2 does not contain the required drivers for this laptop. Therefore, when you start the CD it will be, after a few minutes of installation of files, say you have a hardware problem, there is no hard drive. +
+ To remedy this, you will need to download the right drivers Intel ICH8M SATA AHCI Controller. I could not find on the website of Intel, but on the contrary searched on Google for him. and he got to: http://www.alphadownloads.com/downloads/download-hp-intel-sata-ahci-controller-driver-ver--d-3064.html+

+ The other necessary drivers that we found on the web were: +.

+ Intel chipset device software installer +.
    Web page +.
    + http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=N&ProductID=816&DwnldID=14528 & strOSs = 45 & OSFullName = Windows * XP Home Edition & lang = eng +.

+ Or if this link does not try this: +.

+ Select 'Download Intel chipset software installation utility' on the left side, and then select your operating system "XP Home +.
+ Select "INF Update Utility - primarily for Intel 3, 900 chipset series ' +.
    + and download it. +

+ Driver Intel graphics: Mobile Intel (r) 965 Express Chipset +.
    Web page +.
    + http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=N&ProductID=2800&DwnldID=1438 8 & strOSs = 45 & OSFullName = Windows * % 20XP % 20Home % 20Edit ion & lang = eng +.

+ Or if this link does not try this: +.

+ Now, select "software & drivers" on the left side and select your operating system "XP Home +.
+ You will be presented with a list of files. +
+ Select provided? ® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows * XP (exe) +.
    + and download it. +

+ Marvell Yukon Ethernet Driver +.
    Web page +.

+ Or if this link does not try this: +.
    + On the right side, select ' W2000 / XP/2003/Vista x 86 & x 64 multilingual Installer (32-bit and 64-bit) for Yukon devices +.

+ Create the XP drivers disk +.
+ Add SATA drivers for a copy of your XP install CD using a program such as NLite. +
+ You have enough spare memory hard drive take a copy of your XP (about 700 MB) installation CD. +
+ Launch the program "sp37005.exe" and it will install on your hard drive. Do not install to a floppy disk. +
    + Download "NLite" of: http://www.nliteos.com/download.html+
+ When you run NLite it will probably say that you need to install ".net Framework", if so, quit NLite and go find the program. It is a Microsoft program that you can find by performing a Google search for the corresponding page on the Microsoft Web site. +
+ Now place your drive to install XP in your CD drive, if it autoruns, leave him. +
+ Run Nlite and follow the instructions on the screen. +
+ The program will ask where is your XP disk then it will ask you where you want to save the copy. +
+ On the screen "Task Selection", select "Drivers" and "Bootable ISO". Press "next". +
+ Select "Insert" and then "Folder pilot several" and now go and find your downloaded files of the SATA driver. Now, select 'All' and ' OK. The program will list the available SATA drivers. Select only the two that mention "ICH8M. Now press "next". The display will show the selected drivers. Press 'Next' and then 'Yes' to the prompt and then on "next" when done.
+ You are presented with the "Bootable ISO" screen. +
+ Put it a new inflammable CD in your CD burner, wait for it to be recognized and out any window that might appear to allow you to install files.
+ Now in Nlite, under "Mode", select "Direct Burn" +.
+ Under the 'Label' enter something like "XP for Toshiba Satellite A200" to identify the drive. +
+ Advanced settings to leave alone and now add the other required drivers by clicking on explore and copy them to the root directory to the temporary directory on your hard drive XP. It might be better to create a "Drivers" folder in the root directory to make them easy to find later. +
+ Now, click on the "Burn" button Now follow the remaining instructions to complete. +
+ You have now created an XP installation disc that contains your SATA drivers. +
+ - As you can tell, it of sound altogether, but avoids having to buy a USB floppy drive and it provides a neat solution. +

    + Hasta La Vista! +
+ Now you are ready to start the cleaning process, if you are brave enough to continue... +.

+ First, re-boot your laptop and the all start-up press F12 to change the boot order so that the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM is first. You can also use F2 and then change the Boot order from there. +

+ Now, insert your new XP installation disc in the DVD/CD drive and re-boot the PC, select boot from CD when you are prompted. +

+ The XP CD will now start copying the files and possibly display an options screen.
+ Select this option to install Windows. +
+ And then remove the hard drive C: partition (with Vista on) +.
+ Delete the partition used by Vista also F. +.
+ You will have to follow a lot of warning messages to delete the partitions. +
+ Now follow the instructions to create an NTFS partition on the C drive. +.
+ Now install XP by following the instructions. +

+ Don't worry that the graphics are a bit large as once Windows has finished installing, you can run the graphics driver you copied on the the XP CD to correct this. +

+ Run three driver files: +.
    + win2k_xp14311.exe Intel graphics driver.
    + INFINST_AUTOL.exe Intel chipset software installation utility ' +.
    + Marvell Yukon Ethernet Driver Setup.exe +.

+ Your graphics card must now improve and you should now be able to connect to the web (after the execution of the web Setup Wizard). But do not do this until you have installed your anti-virus software and firewall. +

+ Now go to "Device Manager" by "Control Panel" then "System" and then "hardware". Then look for any yellow question mark for all the problems. Right-click and run 'Update Driver' for the Hardware Update Wizard and allow the PC to search the web "this time only. +

+ If all goes well, everything should work OK now. +

+ Now go and have a drink to celebrate! +

    * After completing the installation, I found that I had no work wlan driver on my laptop. They are here (RTL8187B_WLAN_Adaptor), but with a big yellow question mark. I tried reinstalling them but it made no difference. I don't know why they don't will be will not installed properly.*

    * All went well and seem to work and all the familiar screens were there. I started using it and wanted to transfer some info from the laptop to my office. I copied the files on a disc using Ashampoo Burning Studio 7 and it seems to work, he went through the whole process without a hitch. When he had finished I checked the drive and it was empty he had no files on it at all. I tried several types/brands but the results (or lack of) is the same. The drive reads the discs will not drive write. Any ideas? *

Thanks for reading this and I would appreciate any help/advice you may have.

    See you soon,.

    Mike

    Hello

This means that everything is working properly without WLAN connection and burning the discs?

Well, are you sure that your laptop is equipped with RTL8187B WLAN card? Therefore, you can check the vendor and device ID in Device Manager.
But for all the portable Toshiba, you can download the driver WLAN here:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

In addition, it would be interesting to know which drive you exactly used for the engraving process. I only use high-quality Verbatim and TDK media. I don t use Ashampoo or Nero, I use CD Burner XP because it the freeware tool and I can do anything I want with this program.

    Check it!

  • What Type of PCMCIA is supported by Equium A200-1ED?

    Hello

They gave me this old Equium A200-1ED which is too slow for window 8.

Putting aside the expensive option of a SSD, I thought to install windows on an SD card but the BIOS do not see it as a boot device and the driver seems not to recognize as exFat and even then it only reads that 27.7 GB on a 64 GB card.

So my next option is to get an adpater for the ExpressCard/PCMCIA location for the 64 Gb SD card that I hope the BIOS will be able to see as boot drive, but I don't know what Type (PIN configuration) of the card supports this machine slot.

The driver seems to think that he supports PCMCIA, but I know that it is not a Type II, because I have a Type II device that does not fit into here.

I don't want to open it, so I wrote to Toshiba, but I didn't get any answer.
So maybe someone here can help.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

PCMCIA is designed for the use of some external devices, but the idea to use the preinstalled with OS boot device is really crazy. I'm pretty sure that this will not work.

A few years ago, I had Satellite A200. It is the same model as your satellite. If you want to have good enough laptop s performance I recommend to install Windows 7 32 bit. This machine was designed for Vista, but it is supported for Win7 32 bit. WIN8 isn't the solution for this old piece of hardware.

With Win7, it works fairly well, stable and faster than original Vista. SSD is very good way to increase the performance of s for laptop, but it costs a little. Anyway, you shouldn't buy the best and most recent SSD. You can get an opportunity for a lot of money.

Anyway, combined with mise a niveau of RAM and Win7 installation is, in my opinion, best option for you.

  • Equium A200 - problems with the CD/DVD-RW and Realtek HD driver

I'm having some trouble with my Equium A200-1VO.

First of all, I can't get the CD/DVD-RW to write any dics. The Player opens also from time to time.

Secondl, I just downloaded and installed the latest driver Realtek HD audio, under the guidance of Toshiba, to see that when I plug my headphones the sound always comes out of my laptop speakers.

    Any help or thoughts?

    Thank you

Now, he can be really problematic. If you use your own installation of the OS, no one can say with certainty what can be the problem. Each laptop manufacturer, including Toshiba, offer recovery image installation and in using the factory settings, everything should work well. These recovery images are tested and they offer all the hardware and software features.

Maybe you should install Vista using recovery media supplied and check if all these problems are happening again. If yes then we can talk about the unusual and serious issues.

  • How to use the resolution to 1280 * 768 on external TV with Equium A200-15i

    I have my laptop Equium A200-15i hooked to my Bravia HDTV which accepts entries to 800 * 600, 1024 * 768 and 1280 * 768.
But my laptop will be released only in 800 * 600, 1024 * 768 and 1280 * 600 and I want to use the full screen on my TV.

I read a few other posts on this subject and I think that the problem lies in the BIOS, and I've not being updated since I got it in September, but I was wondering too since I'm Dual-booting Vista and XP pro, there will be problems with the BIOS I download?

There seems to be two more different for Vista and XP, who apparently get along out of each other.

Finally, update the BIOS problem will be solved my monitor extended?
And updated the BIOS using the BIOS XP Download break my laptop/vista partition?

Should I just not bother with the Dual-boot and go Vista/XP only?

    Thanks in advance

The BIOS is not the problem!

The fact is that your display driver doesn't support the resolution of 1280 * 768, and so you can't choose it.

    Once again;
    > Finally, update the BIOS fix my extended monitor?
No, as I said above, you can't choose your preferred resolution because it s not included in the graphics driver.

    > And updated the BIOS using the BIOS XP Download break my laptop/vista partition?
No, but if Vista is installed on the laptop then I advise you to use the version of vista BIOS.

    > Should I just not bother with the Dual-boot and go Vista/XP only?
Dual-boot is recommended according to me ;)
I have dual boot on my second notebook too. Dual boot has many advantages...
As you know from the beginning of the applications don't run correctly with Vista and if you have installed XP then you can run it without big problem ;)

  • Equium A200-1VO - "a disk read error has occurred."

    Hello

I had my Equium A200-1VO since December 2007 and has never really had any problems with it atall.

However, last night after a Windows Vista update and restart, my laptop won't start upward. I get a black screen announcing:

"A disk read error has occurred.

Please press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to restart»

I've had no BSOD, and no other suggestion that something was wrong, everything worked perfectly. I checked the HARD drive to see if it had come off his link and reinserted it. But I get the same message.

I am presented with the only possibility to use the recovery disk, but this means wiping everything out there and start again. I'd rather try to recover my documents before taking radical measures, if it is possible atall.

If anyone has any suggestions I would be very appreciate.

    Thank you very much

    Mark

    Hello

In my view, the error message says a lot: theoretically, your HARD drive may be defective and must be replaced but before that I would test using fitness to drive or another program. Just use Google to find such programs.

Maybe something was tangled up in your Windows installation. About reinstalling Windows?

You didn't back up your data to a second drive? I m wondering about this, because the backup should always be made.
However, if you use an external HARD drive box you can save it on another computer.

    Good luck! :)
