MPEG2 Codec missing - CC 2014.2
I have a small laboratory of about 20 iMacs all running the latest updated Adobe CC 2014 and Mavericks.
When we have updated to CC2014 all missing MPEG2 Media Encoder, and first options. I spent a few days scouring the internet help on this, but all patches proposed deal with older versions of the software, that what we are running.
We do not regularly use of MPEG2, but it is important to have this ability.
We are completely up to date with updates. Some people suggest that you do a complete new installation, but we have 20 computers, even if this solves the problem it is a ridiculous solution. (Also, I don't have the account info Adobe do installs it... all that needs to be done must be done by a computer programmer in our Organization.) Is it possible that we can just install the codecs that we need? They use to be on these machines... they just disappeared now.
Any advice or information welcome.
Try restarting the machine. Then connect to CC before opening Media Encoder. Worked for us.

I need to import a mov. file in Premiere Pro CS6, but it gives the following error 'Preview in the source monitor failure' - error message: "Codec missing or unavailable.
I looked up the prefrences codec of video via VLC. Here are the codecs:
Type: video
Codec: DNxHD (AVdn)Decoded format: Planar 4: 2:2 YUV
Type: Audio
Codec: PCM S16 (sowt)Type: video
Codec: DNxHD (AVdn)
Decoded format: Planar 4: 2:2 YUV 10 bit THEHow and where can I download them so I can import the video?
Thanks in advance!
You can download it from the Web Avid site.
NB: If PrPro will not see the Avid codecs after successful installation, the Avid QuirkTime codec package, go to C:\Program Files (x 86) \QuickTime\QTComponents folder, copy all the *.qtx files and paste it in C:\Program Files (x 86) \QuickTime\QTSystem folder.

Codec missing in pre 9, but not 2 or 10?
I browsed the forum lack of codecs and opinion, but I'm still confused. I have an old Canon S3IS that records video as. AVI. I have no problem using these files in pre version 2 & 10, but when I try to open them in pre 9, I get the message "codec missing or not supported" and that they do not matter. Question: Why the work of the version 2 & 10, but not 9? ... And what is the most easy to fix - download a codec pack or a video converter (I hope a free)?
(Note: PrE 2 on WinXP, 9 on Win7x32 Home Premium pre and pre 10 on Win7x64 Ultimate running).
Argh, guess what it was? I never reinstalled QuickTime installed cleansing! It must come with MJPG codec. My mistake - sorry to waste your time. Thanks for the info - I learned something about the codecs.

PPCS4:
I have files that comes from a new camera Panasonic 3 ccd of friends.
I get a "Codec missing or unavailable" error when I try to load files into PP CS4. Is there a special .mov Codec I need to download or something?
Thank you
Marv.
Function of log capture and transfer of the PCF uses the Apple Intermediate Codec, which is not available on Windows at all. It must export from FCP using a codec such as Photo-JPEG or PNG lossless and then send you these files.

JVC GY-HM100U +. MOV + first Pro CS3 = "Codec missing or unavailable?
Is it possible to film in quicktime on the JVC GY-HM100U mode and change the files in Premiere CS3 for PC? If so, how?
I get the message "Codec missing or unavailable.
Thank you very much for your help!
I think that the camera records for XDCAM EX (which is MPEG-2). Usually, XDCAM EX is contained in a file MP4 and CS3 (version 3.2.0) and up have support for this. However, the MOV wrapper is not supported with this codec, probably even if the codec and format is. Check out this post and the next for additional information and a solution.

The title explains little. I installed Master Collection CS5.5 as a full version, but After Effects and Adobe Media Encoder are still missing to the protected content. I rebooted and updated and restarted again. I installed as a trial and then entered the serial number later, and I also tried to use the serial number during installation. It seems that no matter what combination I try, I can't get MPEG2 if poster in the list to export.
I just spoke with one of the software engineers, and he said that this could be the problem:
If an exporter plugin ever to load, then After Effects try to load it again. It is possible that MPEG-2 exporters could not load a moment and then marked in this way.
I recommend quiting After Effects, remove this entire directory and then restart After Effects:
/Users/ /Library/Preferences/Adobe/After effects/10.5 (No, this directory is not deleted during the uninstallation, unless explicitly say you to remove preferences, so it may have been left in your previous attempts to uninstall and reinstall.)

old videos will no longer play / audio codec missing
Some old videos that I no longer will play. It says I'm missing an Audio Sharp G.726 audio codec (45). I tried to download the components, but I do not know if it is applied to Windows Media Player.
Yes, I had already tried and that has done nothing, so I went to http://www.free-codecs.com/sharp_g726_audio_codec_download.htm , a site that had the missing codec and installed it. It took three tries and I had to uninstall and reistall of other codec packages I tried, then restarted after making my slow super computer and reinstall just the single missing codec and finally it worked.

I create a video screen with Windows Media encoder. It is saved as a session (wme file) I try to convert or play and I get the missing codec message.
Is a way to fix it?
Apparently you don't have to save the video file.
See the following article for information on Session settings:Getting Started with Screen Capture using Windows Media Encoder

Hello
I use Windows Media Player 11, Windows XP Pro, and IE6, all updated to current versions/SP etc. I use comcast.net email. I get frequently joined with .wmv files. If I double click, Windows Media Player opens and I get the error that a codec is missing. However, if I right-click and save the file to disk, then I can display by using Windows Media Player. Why won't just play to in IE6 without having to save first? It's used to work. If she needs a codec for a .wmv file, why didn't he tell me who/where the codec to get it? If I am to day in all software, why have I not the codec I need for one. File WMV to play in IE6? Tips to download a specific codec pack for a similar problem, I saw, but then I saw other tips that the codec of the 3 parties packs Download creates problems. Don't know what to do. Oh, and I prefer not to make a newer version of IE at this moment, unless there is another compelling reason to do so. Thank you. JBHello

It may be interesting to try to reset the .wmv file association.Try the following...
Right-click a .wmv file that is saved on your hard drive and
in the menu... Choose... Properties / General tab / change button...
In the list... Select... Windows Media Player / OK / apply / OK...Good luck...
