  I installed and activated a server win 2012 standard within a VMware virtual machine. I need to reinstall it.

  My question is if I reinstall in the same VM, Microsoft it will consider a new "machine" and require a new license?

  Even more, if I install win server 2012 directly on my physical server, IE. No VMware, virtual machines etc., Microsoft will consider a new "machine" and require a new license OR is it true that the license is tied to the physical server CPU and so there is no problem with the activation of the server (with the same license).

• Problem with update server 2012 license window

  We installed the evaluation version of Windows server Standard Edition 2012 around a few months back.

  Now, we have activated the Action Pack so was trying to update the license details.

  But we receive the error that the license key is not valid, and at the same time, our server stops after every one hour.

  Quick response will be really appreciated.

  Have you tried activate with the generic key? You activated action pack, it should work with volume licensing.

• Multipoint Server Trial - no Cal?

  I'm looking for a definitive answer to the question: the Windows Multipoint Server 2012 come with a grace period for the CALs required for thin clients or do you have to buy some sort of cal to judge as well?

  We have two E03s Dell/Wyse we try for in/out time stations. This task could be done by microbox machines instead.

• stacking free hyper-v windows server std r2 2012 license

  bought 3 microsoft 2012 R2 server standard license

  3 servers

  installed hyper v on the new backup DC and Exchange Server (vm 2 running)

  1 Server DC

  1 other server

  the server last 2 are lower and I would do not turn on their hyper v

  BitDefender for the gravityzone within the hosting company requires 1 vm

  knowing that I get 2 free license hyper v of every purchase... I can tell bad uses 6 vm on 1 server and be legal... just need 3 and for the purpose of the question

  This Windows server 2012 have formerly key license and smooth, but when I try to activate KMS or Volume Activation and install an update I forgot already, then all of a sudden, it starts to show the error build 9600. So I decided to run slmgr /upk to unistall to license, but when I tried to re - activate the license, this error appeared. I tried to activate it by Slui and in CMD, but still no luck. Someone please help me with this.

  One of my clients purchased Dell server with preloaded Windows Server 2012 OS (Standard Edition) us (from my company) to replace the

  Now, the thing is customer want to transfer/migrate their client access licenses Server and Terminal Server CALs for Server 2003 to 2012 server.

  to use their existing CAL?

  And is it as additional permit is required to use Server 2003
