My Acer laptop stops randomly

I have an Acer Aspire 4730Z, Windows Vista, MO 2007. A few weeks ago he began to stopping randomly.  This happens at different stages during the start up or sometimes after that, I was on the laptop for hours.  It is completely random.  Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help.
Diana

Hi Diana,

1 are there any changes or updates made on the computer?

2. do you get an error message? If Yes, what is the full and exact error message?

3. do you get a blue error screen?

Step 1:

I suggest you to disable the auto restart to avoid unwanted restarts on the failure of the system and note the error message.

a. when your computer starts up keep press F8 on your keyboard until you get the Advanced Boot Options screen.
b. now, use the arrow keys, select disable automatic system error reboot and press ENTER.

Step 2:

I suggest you to see link and check if it helps.

    Hello

Just a question: are you an authorized service provider?
I ask this question because it looks like you are an ASP because you have so many laptops and you have tested different things.

It's really hard to say what the reason is for this but I think that in this case, you should contact Toshiba directly. Maybe it s a known issue and it can be fixed in a few minutes.
So ask for it and wait for a response.

    Hello tianana8,

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft answers Forum.

I have a few questions to better assist us in troubleshooting your random close problem on your laptop.

Which version of Windows Vista you have? You're on SP1?
Your laptop is overheating? It takes a while before it comes back to the top?
    You have error messages?
What is your management plan for power laptop?
You have Hibernate enabled on your laptop?

Click Start, Control Panel, click reports on the problems and Solutions. When it appears, click the left pane for

  • My laptop stops randomly by itself

I had my Dell laptop for almost two years now. It has always worked well until a few months ago, when he started to do this. I had not installed any new programs or anything, so I thought kind of it was just overheated.  It becomes extremely annoying however and since it always worked fine until a few months ago, maybe it's something other than overheating. Thank you

Regarding the BIOS go updated... Go to the Dell support site and plug in your service tag.  Check the downloads section and see what items are available in the BIOS section.  Or, you could indicate what model of laptop you have, and someone else could do the same thing.  Then, run msinfo32.exe from the beginning-> box run and check the value of "BIOS Version / Date" on the right.  Compare the latest version with what is listed in msinfo32.  It could be an update of the BIOS could make adjustments that would affect behavior.

After two years, a laptop can collect dust in a bunch of places.  Dust prevents the dissipation of heat and air flow, which can contribute to the type of problems you are having.  Depending on the laptop model, it may be relatively easy to blow off the dust with compressed air, or otherwise clean up things a bit.   Fans should be kept up well - only no right turn when being ripped off.  My Dell laptop has a removable fan (two small screws need to be removed) that can easily be blown.  This also allows access to the fins of the heatsink.
Some laptops also have a removable filter that traps the dust and must be regularly inspected and cleaned.
  • Stop random Satellite P105-S6004

I've had my laptop for over a year now and its been send me questions since I got it. I had the hard drive replaced by toshiba, while it was under warranty too. But from this stop randomly, it's 'new' its not covered.

In any case, I ran dianostics etc and nothing seems to be wrong, but the laptop stops randomly without any warning. Now, he USED to blue screen, but perhaps his tired to do this more?

I have a laptop cooling pad, and I cleaned inside the computer, etc. Nothing seems to be a problem with the RAM or the fan. So I'm not sure what I need to do, then take it somewhere. Any help would be appreciated!

    -Lindsay

    Hello

are you sure there is no third party pre-installed software on your laptop that can be responsible for the blue screen or stop the down?

It is not easy to say why this happen because the blue screen can be the result of software and hardware problems.

  • Acer Aspire 5349 began to stop randomly, now can not stay on more than 2 seconds

    Hello world!

I use my 5349 aspires for more than 4 years now running Windows 7. A few months ago, he began stopping at random - sometimes after an hour of work, other times - after 10-15 minutes.

It is used mainly for light office work, but given his age, I decided it was due to the accumulation of dust or otherwise overheating due to thermal decomposition paste to the processor and the thermal pads - for the video chip. It is out of warranty, so I disasembled he replaced even if the thermal paste compound and the thermal pad seemed OK. There was no dust important problem as well, in any case seized the opportunity to thoroughly clean.

After assembling and switching on, it ran stable for 3-4 hours which even helped me put upgraded to Windows 10 (32 bit). He rested for a few days due to the holidays here and then when turned on - again closed in about 10 minutes. After that no matter what I do - perform disassembly, check for loose contacts, CMOS battery, laptop battery, etc.-, he could not run for more than a few minutes from the Windows recovery and then stops again. In the last days it even can't stay for more than a few seconds before stopping again, so I can not even get into the BIOS.

Laptop battery is good, because it has always been used as a desktop replacement, in all cases tried with battery and battery off nothing works. The power brick is one that came with it originally, even though it says LITEON instead of ACER. Tried another one with the same voltages and amps for an another ACER laptop - the situation didn't improve or change at all.

Logically, I started reading here and discovered on exactly the same problems with other similar models, so I tried all the suggestions - replaced RAM, HDD, DVD, tried to boot from USB or DVD, tried to remove the build-up of electrostatic charges. I'm very suspicious of the latter, or any electrical problem / might like, because when I completelly demolish the mobile nut, i.e. by removing everything that can be removed and then back - it works for 10-15 minutes before closing.

So, finally, the question is - is there suggestions that I could follow?

The easy solution is to replace the MB in case it would help, or the completely portable, but I hate when I don't understand or diagnose a hardware problem and will make every effort to identify and resolve.

    See you soon!

Google the keywords "5349" "mainboard" or "motherboard". Replacements to run $100 inc shipping, some on ebay U.S. and other China.

BCCode: 0x0000007f with the parameter 00000008 7f usually means a hardware problem.

Have you added a hardware or drivers updated recently? Check Control Panel - Windows
Updates to see if all drivers have been updated it just before what is going on has begun.

For 7f - this could be a problem of material such as uncomfortable cards or memory, although it
are other causes. Power electric low could also lead to this. Use the above troubleshooting utilities
and below and when you get to the drivers and segments of memory see below then
    go back troubleshooting if necessary.

If a PC remove ALL power. Opening the case, remove and reinstall all memory cards and ALL
cable (try not just to close) on both ends if they are accessible and on the device ends if
No (remove the cables and the relocation of their aid to eliminate minor corrosion). On a laptop
on everything that can be done is to reinstall the memory.

Notice the 08 (double fault) as 1st parameter means there are likely two causes. Do not forget
to update your drivers manually by using Windows updates only detects certified pilots and
Microsoft and the manufacturers are far behind in this process. Update the BIOS of the card NETWORK, WiFi, and
    Display/video and other important factors.

If a laptop or a PC, you will need to take a shop (not BestBuy or other BigBox stores) or

UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP bug control has a value of 0x0000007F. This bug check indicates that the Intel CPU generated a trap and the kernel could not catch this trap.

This trap might be a bound trap (a trap the kernel is not allowed to capture) or a double foul (an error occurred during the processing of an earlier fault, which always results in a failure of the system).

Important info if you received a STOP Code

If you received a blue error screen, or a stop code, the computer stopped abruptly to protect against data loss. A hardware device, its driver or software might have caused this error. If your copy of Windows is shipped with your computer, contact your computer manufacturer. If you purchased Windows separately from your computer, Microsoft provides support. To find contact information for Microsoft or the manufacturer of your computer, Contact Support.

If you have experience with computers and try to recover from this error, follow the steps in the Microsoft article solution STOP (blue screen) errors in Windows.

These actions could prevent a mistake like this does not happen:

    1. Download and install updates for your computer from Windows Update device drivers.
    2. Scan your computer for computer viruses.
    3. Check your hard drive for errors.

    UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP parameters

The first parameter that is displayed on the blue screen indicates the number of trap.

The most common trap codes are the following:

    • 0x00000000 or division by zero error, indicates that a DIV instruction is executed and the divisor is zero. Memory corruption, other hardware problems or software failures can cause this error.

    • 0 x 00000004, or overflow, occurs when the processor executes a call to an interrupt handler when the overflow (OF) is flag set.

  • 0x00000005, or limits check fault, indicates that the processor, then executing a BOUND instruction, determines that the operand exceeds the specified limits. A BOUND instruction ensures that a signed array index is within a certain range.

  • 0 x 00000006 or Opcode not valid, indicates that the processor attempts to execute an invalid instruction. This error occurs generally when the instruction pointer is corrupted and point to the wrong address. The most common cause of this error is hardware memory corruption.

  • 0x00000008 or Double fault, indicates that an exception occurs during a call to the previous exception handler. In general, two exceptions are handled in series. However, there are several exceptions that cannot be handled serially, and in this case, the processor signals a double fault. There are two common causes of a double fault:
    • A kernel stack overflow. This overrun occurs when a cover page is hit, and the kernel tries to push a frame. Because there is no battery left, a stack overflow results, causing the double fault. If you think that this presentation has taken place, use ! thread to determine the limits of the stack, and then use KB (display Stack Backtrace) with an important parameter (for example, 100 KB) to display the full stack.
    • A hardware problem.
  • Less common trap codes are:

    • 0x00000001 - a system call - debugger

    • 0 x 00000003 - a breakpoint in the debugger

    • 0 x 00000007 - a statement of material with no present coprocessor coprocessor

    • 0x0000000A - has corrupted Task State Segment

    • 0x0000000B - access to a memory segment that was not present

    • 0x0000000C - access to memory beyond the limits of a stack

    • 0x0000000D - an exception not covered by another exception; a protection fault concerning violations of access to applications

For other numbers of trap, see an Intel architecture manual.

    Cause

0x7F bug check occurs after the installation of a faulty or incompatible hardware (including memory) or if installed hardware fails.

A double fault can occur when the kernel stack overflows. This overflow occurs if multiple drivers are attached to the same battery. For example, if two file system filter drivers are associated to the same stack and then again the recursively of file system, the capacity of the battery.

    Resolution

Debugging: Always start by the ! analyze extension.

If this extension is not sufficient, use the debugger kv (display Stack Trace) command.

After using one of these commands, reuse kv to display the new battery.

Troubleshooting: If you have recently added the material to the computer, remove to see if the error recurs. If the hardware failure existing, remove or replace the faulty component. Run the diagnostics of material that does not have the system manufacturer supplies to determine which hardware component.

The scanner memory is particularly important. Faulty or incompatible memory can cause this bug check. For more information on these procedures, see the manual of your computer. Check that all the cards in the computer are well calibrated. Use an ink eraser or electrical contact treatment, available in electronic supply stores, to ensure the adapter card contacts are clean.

If the error appears on a newly installed system, check the availability of updates for BIOS, SCSI, or card network controller. These updates are generally available on the Web site or the hardware manufacturer BBS.

Check that all hard disks, controllers, hard drive and the SCSI adapters are compatible with the installed version of Windows. For example, you can get information about compatibility with Windows 7 in the Windows 7 Compatibility Center.

If the error occurred after the installation of a new or updated device driver, you should remove or replace the driver. If, in this circumstance, the error occurs during the startup sequence and the system partition is formatted with NTFS, you may be able to use Safe Mode to rename or to delete the faulty driver. If the driver is used as part of the start-up procedure of the system Safe Mode, you must start the computer by using the Recovery Console in order to access the file.

Also to restart your computer and press F8 to character-based menu that displays the choice of operating system. In the menu of Advanced Options , select the last known good Configuration option. This option is most effective when you add a single driver or service at a time.

Overclocking (setting of the CPU to run at a speed higher than the nominal specification) can cause this error. If you have overclocked to the computer that is experiencing the error, return the CPU to default clock speed setting.

Check the system log in Event Viewer for additional error messages that might help identify the device or driver that generated the error. You can also disable caching memory BIOS to try to resolve the problem.

If you have encountered this error during the upgrade to a new version of the Windows operating system, the error can be caused by a device driver, system service, an anti-virus or a backup tool that is not compatible with the new version. If possible, remove all third-party device drivers and system services and disable all antivirus before upgrade you. Contact the software manufacturer for updates of these tools. Also, make sure that you have installed the latest Windows Service Pack.

Finally, if all of the steps above do not resolve the error, take the system motherboard to a repair for the diagnostic facility. A crack, a scratched trace, or a defective component on the motherboard can also cause this error.

  • Stop randomly Qosmio X 770 - 138

Hi guys, just bought my new Qosmio X 770-138 a week ago and everything seemed fine until he began to stop randomly. It is not proper closures, just boom--off.

Now, I can tell you that it it does NOT heat related, it happens that when I'm idling the CPU temperature is around 40-45 degrees Celsius, so I ruled that out of the "education".

It never happened when I run games high performance that makes the temperature spikes CPU to max 60 degrees celsius.

Now, I tried to use Reeltime "turn back time" to a precedent that date, it has not stopped, that it worked fine for a day, then he began to close again.

Now I've just updated the BIOS and the nVIDIA and INTEL video drivers and it has not closed for about an hour, but I don't think I'm in the clear yet.

No one knows what causes these kinds of closures? I have F-SECURE protection from virus/spyware and firewall which is true, so I should be relatively well protected against the bad guys.

Thanks in advance for any help! :)

    > Now I've just updated the BIOS and the nVIDIA and INTEL video drivers and it has not closed for about an hour, but I don't think I'm in the clear yet.

And now? The laptop works stable? Has he stopped after you apply updates?
It is possible that some driver compatibility problem caused these cases
However, use Notepad for a longer period of time and the report that the results would be interesting to know how it works.

  • Satellite A665-11z starts to load then stops randomly

    Hi all

I bought this second hand Toshiba A665-11z to see that when I'm connected to the PSU, the dough starts to load and then stops randomly load... after a few seconds he could come back, and sometimes it just stops loading completely.

When this is the case of the power button turns off, as well as on top of the touch pad.

The lights on the front of the laptop navigate whites for POWER supply, off for walking and pink flashes for the battery. The backlit keyboard turns off too and will not continue until the load is back.

Once I started typing this post he disconnected fresh form, I reconnected it and now it is not happened again.

The original operating system was Windows Home Edition premium 32-bit, but this lappy is bundled with 4 GB of RAM so the previous owner installed a licensed version of WIn 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

I've updated all the drivers and BIOS is 2.20

    Help please

    Hello

    > I've updated all the drivers and BIOS is 2.20

There is a new BIOS 2.40, which must be updated
I read in some forum discussions that it is the key to resolve this annoying problem load!

    Your comments would be appreciated!

  • Satellite A200 - stop randomly

    Hello

My laptop Toshiba Satellite A200 will stop randomly. First I thought, that the CPU is overheating, but its temperature is 50 degrees (Celsius), and it is good (I also change the fan). But my ATI radeon HD2600 graphics card has 50 degrees too and that's a too high temperature for nothing to do.

Where could be the problem? What is the temperature of my gpu of closing?

    Thank you

Sometimes when I turn on my computer, the temperature of the GPU is only 30 degrees
I have a dualboot XP and Windows 7. When I turn on XP, the computer shuts down when booting, when I turn on Windows 7, it's not stop immediately

    Hey,.

    > First I thought, that the CPU is overheating, but his temperature is 50 degrees (Celsius)
    How to measure the temperature?
As much as I know there is no formal program of Toshiba to check the temperature, and the 3rd party tools can show wrong temperatures.

    > But my ATI radeon HD2600 graphics card has 50 degrees too and that's a too high temperature for nothing to do.
Who said that 50 ° C is too high for the GPU? In my opinion it s normal and ok, it won't be a problem.

In your case, I would follow the instructsions here:
[How to clean a Toshiba laptop cooling system? | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=40]

Theoretically it could also be possible that the thermal grease is too old and should be replaced. This can be done from an authorized service provider.

  • Satellite A200 (PSAE3E) - stops randomly

    Hi all!

I got an A200 PSAE3E in my possession which stops randomly. He really died the hard way. I have excluded a software problem, because even this wenn waiting for PXE, so no start-up of the drive HARD or another device...

The only idea I have left is to Flash the BIOS to get it to work again properly as I thought it might have something to do with faulty breaks? Or anything that leaves the BIOS to be originally...
When he is not the BIOS, then the motherboard itself must be faulty which leaves me only one option: throw this piece :-D

    * Up to now, the real question: how Flash BIOS without using an operating system like Windows? Is it a kind of combination of button I can press start so he can a BIOS file from a USB flash? *

    Help would be very appreciated.

    Hi medis,.

Without an operating system it s not possible to update the BIOS. All updates of BIOS provided on the official website of Toshiba are windows, depending on whether you need an operating system running up-to-date BIOS.

To be honest I have don t think that the BIOS is the reason for this

The laptop is overheating or hardware malfunction s motherboard or the CPU

If it s just an overheating issue you can solve the problem yourself by cleaning radiator with a jet of compressed air to blow the dust from the cooling fans.
If it doesn t help you need professional help of an authorized service provider. Guys have professional tools to make an accurate diagnosis of your laptop, so they can tell you what to do in this case.

  • Satellite A200-1QK stops randomly

    Hello.

Well, lately, my computer randomly stops after a while. For some reason, I can't activate it for 1 or 2 minutes when what is happening. I wonder, is this a battery problem? Or y at - it something worse than that?

    Thanks in advance.

I put t think its a battery problem!
For me, it looks like an overheating problem.

If the temperature rises to the critical level the laptop stops automatically to avoid overheating of the material!
You will have to wait until the temperature goes down and after about 5-10 minutes you could restart the laptop.

I think the laptop overheats because cooling cool don t properly hardware modules. Because of the dust and debris inside the laptop don't twist not fans with maximum performance and this leads to a higher temperature.

In my opinion, you should try to clean the fans using a jet of compressed air!
Most computer dealers offer these professional tools.
