My BlackBerry Bold 9900 questions blackBerry smartphones! Bluetooth, clock, battery, security

I just bought my BB Bold 9900 last Friday (January 6) and my provider is MTS. I have problems with my phone.

But first, let me say that I am a TIME BlackBerry user FIRST and I could do something wrong or I didn't have the correct settings. But I'd appreciate any help!

First, the battery life is much too short! After the initial charge (charged from one day to the next), the battery did not last me until noon the next day. I pay it full once I got home, and then I noticed that the battery life was longer now. I guess that it would improve after a little cooler. I think that the battery needed a kind of start-ups before it becomes fully functional. In any case, this problem seems to be resolved, for now.

Second, my phone has problems with the security lock code / password. I have install a locking password to prevent someone from simply to check the contents of my phone. It's OK at first, but after a while, the phone seems to be "forget" to ask for my password. I just press the lock/release button and I have access to my home page without entering the password. I kept checking security settings to see if the password is "on", it is. For me, it's a major security problem!

Thirdly, the zone time/clock settings seems to be incorrect. I'm from Winnipeg, MB, Canada and I use Central time, but the time that the phone is displaying is incorrect. Like the weather here in Winnipeg is 10:00, but in the phone, it's 04:00! Even if I fixed my phone and set up the time manually, the time that appears on my emails is always incorrect and inaccurate. And I couldn't find my clock anywhere icon. I looked in the applications folder, and it isn't here!

Finally (I hope this is the last problem with my phone), I have problems of bluetooth. I tried to send a picture from my Mac to my BB via bluetooth, and it worked fine. But when I tried to send a picture that I took the camera from my BB to my Mac, it wouldn't send! I checked the blutooth connection many times (Mac to BB, BB to Mac, they are fine) I have and found that the settings are correct and devices are discoverable and connected, so I don't really know what to do. This phone is really frustrating.

I have an urgent plan to unlock my phone for use on a different network, but I can't do it now because of these problems. I really want to have a Blackberry (before I bought and did not yet know the problems) I want a RELIABLE PHONE, rather than choosing an iPhone which for me is a TOY. But I am really disappointed with this phone. I begin to fear that this would be as reliable as I expected it would be, and he'd let me down just when I needed it most!

I'd appreciate it really all the help I could get and tips for the first time BB users. Thank you!

My phone works OK now. I guess I could remedy all by myself! What a relief.

  • BlackBerry smartphone blackBerry bold 9900 QUESTION :(

I am the biggest fan of blackberry phones.  I got the curve 9800 for 2 years and I decided to buy a new blackberry phone. I fell in love with the bold 9900 and a week after buying the phone it turns off suddenly and maintains several reboots on its own and finally gives me an error message. It never turned on after that I went to T-mobile and they said that the phone was dead, so they were replaced by a new and AGAIN the other does exactly the same thing. I went to replace the second and believe it or not my THIRD blackberry 9900 does exactly the same thing. PLEASE SOLVE THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE I CAN'T IMAGINE HAVING ANOTHER MODEL AFTER LOVE THIS ONE

    Yes, it's certainly not good.

    1. you do not have the 9800 for two years, it was only August 2010 launched last.

    2. what applications you have installed on this new 9900 (and subsequent replacement)? You can list them here?

    3. what OS version is on the device? I highly recommend loading OS 7.0.0.353 on this subject.

    4. If the device turns on, REMOVE the battery for a minute, replace it and allow it to restart. It will be "fix" maybe 95% of the questions on these OS devices based on java. Battery pull is essentially an operating system on work values.

  • BlackBerry smartphone Bold 9900 questions - address book, BBM, and App World

I have problems with my Bold 9900.  My phone is less than a year and now I can't open my address book.  The phone freezes and I have to take out the battery to restart.  At the same time, my BBM and App World leave works as well.  I can't access an application.

I tried to restore the operating system with no luck.

Exactly as you wrote, there is no such capacity... you can "restore" data, but you can only "recharge" your operating system... so, I would recommend that you attempt to reload your OS and perhaps update. Here are a few tips.

At the top of each forum device, there should be some 'sticky' threads dealing with the level of the OS available for many models. If they understand your model, please use those as a reference as you go along. Otherwise, you will have to dig through the download portal official for packages of OS for your model:

From a PC, you can install any compatible OS package (for example, for your BB model exact number) of a BB via this procedure:

Note Although written to "recharge" and the storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade or recharge any BB device model - depends on the operating system package you download and install on your PC. If this OS package comes from one carrier other carrier for which your BB was built, then remove, on your PC, all copies of the SELLER. XML... There will be at least one and maybe 2, and they will be located in the same way or to (it changes based on your version of Windows) these files:

    • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    • C:\Users\(your Windows username) \AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

Don't forget that you remove, since your PC, any other BB OS devices as packages with more than one installed on the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.

You can also study the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe what he is capable.

You can also try this procedure might limit the specific causal element:

    1. Load your OS "bare bones"... If everything is optional, do not install it.
    2. If the behavior is immediately, then try another OS with step 1
    3. If the behavior does not immediately, then run for as long as necessary to make you to be sure that the behavior will not occur.
    4. Add one more thing - no matter how tempting, one.
    5. If the behavior does not immediately present, and then runs for long enough to be sure he won't have the same problem
    6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are responsible or the behavior presents

When the behavior shows up, you know the culprit... the last thing you have loaded.

If the behavior doesn't re-present, then you know that step 1 or 2 cured it.

If the behavior has anything, then you have probably a problem of material level for which no amount of OS or software can heal.

If you are on a MAC, you are limited to only your sanctioned carriers OS packages... but can still use any level they currently have to sanction. See this procedure:

    Hello world

I have a Bold 9900, I've had just for a few weeks. Last night, out of nowhere, I noticed that a new BBM message was not sent. After trying to figure out what it was, I also noticed that nothing related to data Mobile was working at all. No email, instant messaging, the functions of the browser. I turned my data on and outside, connected and disconnected from Wi - Fi and used the host to register with the network Routing Table. None of this has worked.

I then used the diagnostic test to find out what the network functions did not exist, and that's what I got:

    Activation of radio data: Yes

Hello and welcome to the community!

With a strong carrier network (for example, not only WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2, each should result in a message from your BB... Please wait just before moving on to the next step):

    1) register HRT

    • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with wireless network
    • Please wait a 'registration' message reach your Messages application

    2) books of forwarding Service

    • KB02830 Send the directories for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    • Please wait "the Activation' Messages, one per already configured e-mail account, arrive in your Messages. If you have not already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

    3) restart

    • With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes.
    • See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

I hope that will move things again for you! If this isn't the case, then you should contact your mobile provider for formal support.

    Good luck!

Hello and welcome to the community!

Technically, BT file transfer is officially supported between two BBs. But see this KB:

    • KB05409 Transfer a file using Bluetooth technology between two BlackBerry smartphones

Replace the instructions appropriate for your other device instead of the transmitter unit KB section in the KB. Unless you're on BB OS 6, do not jump 'BT help to receive' step on the BB receiver... nothing will transfer if you do.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Bluetooth and Caller ID

    Hi all!

New to the forum and there seems to be a lot of information to absorb around here.  I searched for a while, without success, an answer to the following question:

Any BlackBerry smartphones (Bold, Tour, Cure, etc.) send two contact person AND number via bluetooth caller ID info or just the phone number?

I'm playing with a Gigaset One / XLink Bluetooth gateway for home phones and that the number is going on the wireless phone, even if the name is known and displayed on my phone.  The manufacturer said that not all phones will send the name even if it is stored.

So, I'm trying to understand if the BlackBerry 9000 "BOLD" does not send name, gateway does not pass along or cordless phone is not read it.

Any help or information relating to the identification of the appellant via bluetooth would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

Well, it seems that only the BlackBerry phones send only the number and not the name when it comes to Bluetooth caller ID information.  Even if you have contacts stored in your phone, and it comes up with a name and a number, only the number will be sent to the Bluetooth device.

I received an email from XLink, indicating as they do know that the MotoRokr and iPhone (no specified people) actually don't send name and number calling info ID via Bluetooth, but BlackBerry does not.  I would check this info before I bet on it if.

So, if you plan to use a Bluetooth compatible device to read or make the ID information calling pass of your BlackBerry terminal (telephone wireless, hands-free system, etc.) certainly has enough space to hold all of your contacts that you will get only the Caller ID names for numbers stored in the terminal.

In addition, you do not want to look for one who can read contacts via Bluetooth from your mobile/smartphone specific rather than spending hours entering all contacts by hand.

My headache started when I bought a Gigaset One / Xlink Cellular Gateway and has not obtained the names of the caller ID on the AT & T wireless phone.  Many cordless phones have only a directory number 50 which is not sufficient.  This phone has replaced by TL92270 of AT & T that indicates it can match and 1500 charge contacts of 4 cell phones (Yes, 6000 in total).  That should be enough... :-)

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Bluetooth do not find new devices on 9700

I have the Blackberry Bold 9700 and problem with Bluetooth. The phone is not able to find a new Bluetooth device but is capable of associating other device when asked. I bought the hands-free kit and cannot pair with phone because it is not able to find the car handsfree. I tried to pair it with the Samsung Galaxy and it wasn't any problem.

Can anyone help? Are there any special settings I need to do? Thank you.

Where did you got the devices?

Maybe they have policies on them:

    Hello Malikius,

Sorry to hear about your problem. By chance are you connected to BlackBerry® Enterprise Server? If you are connected to BlackBerry® Enterprise Server, then you can have a COMPUTER turning off this feature policy. You can take a look at this blog post to see how to check for an it policy. http://bbry.lv/t64vUj If you have a COMPUTER policy on your device and it is obsolete, then you can follow the steps described in this blog post to delete. http://bbry.lv/AbeCiQ

If you do not have a COMPUTER policy on your device, then this might be a software problem. In this case, we can try to reload the software on the BlackBerry® smartphone to make sure she is running the most recent version and there is no problems with the operating system.

Here's how to make a backup of your BlackBerry smartphone http://bbry.lv/oPVWXc

Once you have saved your BlackBerry smart phone, please follow the link below to complete a clean reload of the BlackBerry smartphone software.

    Hello!

I recommend that you try to start safe mode:

    • KB17877 How to start a smartphone BlackBerry in Mode safe

It will take several attempts to get the combination of keys ESC (press/release/hold) OK, so be patient. When properly in Safe Mode, try to activate the BT... If so, then think... what happened just before this behavior started? A new application? An update? A theme? Something else? Think carefully that the slightest change can be causal... and try to undo all that was.

If BT does not work, then you can have some serious corruption of OS level, for which a clean reload of the OS could be the cure.
