My bookmarks bar keeps disappearing unexpectedly.

When I open Firefox 5 occasionally (Windows XP SP3), on my bookmarks bar bookmarks do not appear. The Bookmarks button, however, appears. The only way to fix the bug must open a new window and close the old.

  • My Bookmark Bar is gone and I would like to have show.

I'm not really good at this technology, and so I do not understand why my bookmark bar suddenly disappeared. I can't tell if Mozilla has decided to change the layout, or if I pushed the wrong button. I prefer to have it display all the time. These are my 'Favorites' and there is not a lot. I don't want to go to a drop-down menu to see.

  • Spontaneously disappeared from the bookmarks bar bookmarks folder

    Support-

I just chose a folder of bookmarks (to fall to the bottom of the list of contents bookmarks) on the bookmarks bar. While scrolling to the bottom of the list to make a specific selection, my finger slipped the mouse.

Now this very 'critical folder of bookmarks' is not in the toolbar, and I was not able to locate its content anywhere in the expansion of details of bookmark.

There was no warning or bookmark delete messages, the entire bookmarks folder disappeared without a trace.

Why it never moved and more importantly, does Firefox keep backups bookmarks?

How could I recover the folder of bookmarks disappeared? And do not claim by using a backup. The last system backup prior to the latest changes to this missing bookmarks folder.

    Thanks for your help.

Have you tried a search of bookmark in this folder to see if you have moved by accident in another folder?

If you've accidentally deleted bookmarks, then use "organize > Cancel ' in the Bookmark Manager (Bookmarks > show all bookmarks) to recover.

Hold the button is the first of three buttons next to the back and forward buttons on the toolbar in the library (Bookmark Manager).

That only works if you have not closed Firefox.

If it does not work so that you can restore bookmarks from a JSON backup in the folder bookmarkbackups.

    • Bookmarks > show all bookmarks > import and backup > restore

This will replace all current bookmarks and you lose the favorites that have been added since the backup was created.

  • Some favorites have disappeared from my bookmarks bar (after the update?)

Basically, the question says it all.

All of a sudden a lot of my favorites have disappeared from my bookmarks bar. I can't find them anywhere.

I used to have many of them, some in directories/folders, some 'free' - but never more than two branches down.

If you open the dialog box (Ctrl + Shift + b) library and explore there, can you find in a strange place?

If they're really gone, it is possible that the database file that stores the bookmarks and history is corrupted. COR - el has a few suggestions for it here: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/956965#answer-428511

Alternatively, you can immediately make a backup copy of your folder bookmarkbackups. This folder can be placed using:

Help > troubleshooting information > "view file" button.

I suggest you copy (not move, simply copy) the folder bookmarkbackups set to another location, such as your Documents or a USB flash drive. In this way time passes, you will always have older backups to restore if necessary.

  • What is the bookmark button? It keeps disappearing.

The button bookmark watch when the 'customize' but then everything disappears. What is this for?

This bookmark button appears when the menu bar is hidden, and the word bookmarks menu item will not appear. Display of the menu bar is the default value for Windows XP; with Vista and Win7, the menu bar is hidden by default.

This special bookmarks button opens a view slightly truncated of what shows the bookmarks menu item in the menu bar. There is another similar bookmarks button that sits in the Customize Palette that opens the bookmarks bar.

If you want to customize the Bookmarks button which "disappears" when you close, open view > toolbars and click on the Menu bar so the check mark disappears and the menu bar will be hidden, replaced by the orange Firefox button.

  • Since the upgrade today my bookmarks toolbar has disappeared.

I checked that the bookmarks toolbar is selected as turned on, what it is, but it still does not appear. There seems to be some changes in the new version of Firefox, where the top of the page menu disappears unless you go over it, I'd rather it must remain visible too, but the bookmarks toolbar is not found

Hi, you may be in Mode full screen. Point to the top of the screen and then right click > exit full-screen Mode.

To display the bookmarks bar, then right-click in the tab bar - but not on a tab and tick/check Bookmarks Toolbar. If that is not make it appear, click default settings as shown in the controls, buttons, and Toolbars Customize Firefox.

  • My buttons of browser (red/yellow/green) in the upper part of the browser keep disappearing.

The control at the top left of my browser buttons keep disappearing! They leave me no other way I know to close or minimize the page but to exit firefox. This is not the problem, unless I want to just look at other work on my screen but not leave firefox altogether but simply switch vertically when necessary. I am extremely frustrated with this! This isn't in any convenient way for the use of the internet and my other apps that don't require a browser to open.

Possibly related: last month, some Mac users have reported that the 3 buttons would disappear if you full-screened a video and then have left full-screen for video. A workaround solution suggested for this was to display the title bar, which is hidden by default.

You want to try for a few hours and see if it makes a difference? To display the title bar on each window, you must click on a button at the bottom left of the Customize tab. See: Customize Firefox commands, buttons, and toolbars.

  • How can I get my favorites to show up on top of the actual bookmarks bar, even if they still exist in the bookmark toolbar menu drop-down?

So I accidentally deleted the bookmarks bar, but when I enabled it again, my favorites have disappeared. However, they are still in the menu bookmark under "bookmarks bar". How can I get show them upward on the toolbar real? I restarted Firefox, restore the default values in Firefox, tried doing drag their doping on the toolbar, & just hard add sites, but nothing has worked. How can I fix? Thanks in advance!

  • My bookmark 'COMPUTER' suddenly disappeared, HELP!

Only the "COMPUTER folder/bookmark is missing from my bookmarks bar. Every other bookmark from the toolbar is stable, as the toolbar itself. I know how to restore the Favorites, as I backup frequently. However, in the restoration, I won't lose a good number of changes, moves and respective additions of others bookmarks and their marked envelopes of a bookmark.

Therefore, using restore itself and is, of course, a last resort, but there should be and long ago there was a now forgotten, way to go towards a 'library' restore only lack Toolbar/folder, without having to use the backup restore.

Knows the option above to anyone? Finally, can anyone suggest why this exact situation has occurred under my administration a few more times? What could I do to cause this sudden disappearance while I'm working in the missing bookmark (that I forgot to mention earlier). Something may be corrupt? I need some "with it" ammunition for future episodes! These events are really traumatic for me... No. a joke!

Thanks in advance. Windows 7, Firefox browser Google 25.0.1,

    Hello

Firefox automatically creates backups of your bookmarks, which can be useful if your bookmarks are lost or missing. To retrieve them, follow the instructions below.

    1. Use one of the following methods to open the bookmarks library window:

      • Click the Firefox button to open the menu and click on bookmarks.
      • Click on the menu of bookmarks and click show all bookmarks.
    2. At the top of the library window, click on the "Import and backup" menu and select restore.
    3. Click on the date of the backup of bookmarks you want to recover.
    4. In the new window that appears, click OK.
    5. Your bookmarks in the selected date should now be restored.

For more information, see the article restore bookmarks from a backup or move them to another computer . For alternatives, see the article of recover lost or missing bookmarks .

  • Bookmarks into folders disappeared?

Alright. So I've had this problem for a little while now. xD and its starting to get kind of annoying. I have most of my favorites sorted in folders and others for easy access, when I need to look for some.

For one reason or another, two weeks ago. They have all exhausted. OO as... The files are there, but they are empty. But when I open the bookmarks using CTRL-B, they are really there, inside their records. Unchanged.

Now, I don't like using the sidebar bookmarks bar. So, I'm curious... How can I fix?
In addition, right at that time, I downloaded and installed BoostSpeed 6. To help clean up a ton of junk on my computer. But I think that it is somehow related to problems with my favorites in general. @_@

    SOLUTION:

    The problem:

Your bookmarks are damaged somewhere with a bookmark (s) that has no value 'location' (url) and all new bookmarks below than this bad bookmark will not be displayed in the Menu "Bookmarks" standard, but they have in fact always will appear in the window "show all bookmarks".

    Difficulty:

    (0) in "show all bookmarks", use the scroll bar to find all bookmarks when a url value 'rent' is obviously missing. For each folder, find you one, make sure that you move all over this bad bookmark bookmarks, so that this bad bookmark is changed (at the bottom) in this folder. Do this for all files.

    (1) export your bookmarks (keep it) somewhere on your hard drive. "Show all bookmarks"-> "Import and backup"-> "export bookmarks as HTML."

    (2) now delete us bookmarks "places.sqlite" Bank and force Firefox to do a new "places.sqlite" which is not damaged.

    (3) in Firefox click 'Help'-> "Troubleshooting Information"-> "View file" button (under the title "Basic application", next to the label "Profile folder"). This will open a new file Explorer window. Keep it open.

    (4) now close Firefox.

    (5) in the new folder Explorer window menu open, delete "places.sqlite" file and also delete all the files in the folder "bookmarkbackups".

    (6) now open Firefox back up.

    (7) Finally, "import" bookmark that you saved in step (1) to your hard disk. "Show all bookmarks"-> "Import and backup"-> "import bookmarks html."

    (8) wait for about 3 to 5 minutes for Firefox to "recreate" the structure of all the files in bookmarks and (mostly) all bookmark folders you may have created to organize your personal bookmarks (there are a lot of files and folders for Firefox re-create). It may seem like Firefox is no not another thing that set the cursor outside of Firefox and you will probably see the hourglass or image of spinning indicating the work is done. In five minutes, all bookmarks should work.

  • reduced to a bookmarks bar icon

Yesterday, I had a separate bookmark toolbar line. Today I don't have. I clicked on display in the navigation toolbar and made sure the bookmarks bar has been verified. It was, but no toolbar is visible. If I uncheck bookmarks toolbar, it appears as an icon in the navigation toolbar. I can click on it to get to the toolbars, but I like them on a separate line. I use firefox on mac os 12.0.

Thanks for the suggestions... I used method 1 and 2. Method 1 does not work and the method 2 worked until it got to the point when it asked me to insert my installation CD... I don't not. This computer did not come with a CD. Installation info are on a D drive. How do you it?

    Hello EJHX,

You can do this by changing the special folder of the Source registry path. You can use the Update to do, or you can do it manually.

[1] method: The use of tune-up to set up special folders

    • Open the integrator of the tune-up or the State Bar Directory
    • Select the Customize Windows from Start Tune-Up Center
    • Click options preferences and behaviors
    • In the left pane, select system under Administration
    • In the right pane, select special folders tab controller
    • Select "Windows configuration files" in the "Special feature" column in the list, then click on 'change '.
    • Find the folder and click OK when finished
    • Click OK again to save the settings
[2] method: Using Windows Registry Editor to configure the SourcePath value

    • On the start menu, select "Run."... »
    • Insert: regedit.exe
    • In the left pane, navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft Computer\ My
      \Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup
    • In the right pane, double-click the value SourcePath "' which is a string value
    • Insert the desired location, and then click OK to save the settings
NOTICE: You can change the setting back after you are done after the execution of SFC.
    Thank you

  • Google icon keeps disappearing in Favorites

For some strange reason, just my Google icon keeps disappearing under Favorites. I continue to 'add to Favorites', but in a few days, he disappeared. None of my other favorites are endangered. I have ~ 12 saved favorites so I can keep track of them to see if one of the other go away, but it is only google. I even changed to 'google search' and he's gone too after a day or two. I got this system for 3-4 years and the first time that it happened.

    winXP, IE 8

    Any suggestion on what's happening...

    Thank you

    Hi, Lewis S.,.

Shortcuts to sites will initially their own custom icon when you create a shortcut. This icon is called a "favicon.ico" and is stored in the temporary Internet files (TIF) cache, which is where all website files, are stored when you visit them. If the cache is disabled, all custom icons are removed.

You can restore the favorite icons of bookmarking site again. The other method is described below.

Step 1: Locate the favorite on the Temporary Internet Files folder icons.

    a. the default temporary Internet files location is C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files

    b. navigate to the location above.

    c. ensure that the hidden files and folders is disabled so that you can access the location.

    Reference: Show hidden files

    d. type fav*.ico in the search field. This will pull up your favorite icons.

    e. copy and paste icons to another folder, such as the C:\Favorites icon.

Follow the instructions below to point the bookmark to the permanent icon file.

    Step 2: Customize icons

    a. open Internet Explorer.

    b. click the Favorites icon.

    c. right-click on the favorite that you want to change icon.

    d. Select Properties.

    e. under the web document tab, click Change icon.

    f. click Browse to navigate to the location where the folder is stored. IE C:\Favorites icon.
