my browser.newtab.url keeps returning to the time where I change it

I want to open my new tabs as my homepage to google, but when I change the browser.newtab.url on www.google.com , it comes back to what it was before every time I close firefox.
Can someone help me?

When you exit Firefox, update preferences should be saved, but there are a few possible reasons to do this fail or be ignored. Our 'How to fix preferences that will not save' technical support article explains how to investigate most of them.

If the wrong page of the new tab is associated with an add-on or another software that you have deleted, it is possible that some of the unwanted software has been left. Let us know, in this case, we can provide additional suggestions for cleaning.

An other problem users have reported is with utility programs such as Advanced SystemCare with protection features against changes to browser settings unwanted. Basically, they roll back any changes, necessary or not. If you use this tool or other software with a protection of homepage or navigation protection setting, you may need to disable until after you have Firefox to work the way you want.

  • WMP changes its name at the time where I change the names in the playlists

    Hi people, to support

I have XP and WMP 11. I love working with WMP very much but I have a big problem with the creation of playlists.

First, he must know that. If I make a playlist of different artists like this and sync it to my MP3 player, the player will put all the artists and the album separately names in its lists of an artist folder and album that creates a huge long folder to browse to the 'normal' CD That's why I change at least the various names of artists in 1980, for example has a slow. A brilliant solution, was it not for the fact that WMP is very difficult to accept these changes in the mine. He continues to change the names of 'my' name of origin found in their records. After changing several times later he accepts it, most of the time. But... the problem is worse when I want a particular song appear in more than one playlist, as Slow 1980 and slower. He even sometimes change the names I put in the original name in the original records. I hope you understand what I'm trying to explain, and it drives me nuts keep changing the names. (You probably also I know I have change the names in WMP or in the files folder.)

How can I solve this? Thanks a lot for help.

    Hello

To resolve this problem, delete the Windows Media Player database. To do this, follow these steps:

    Exit Windows Media Player.

    For Windows XP:

    (a) click Start,

    (b) click Run,

    (c) type %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player,

    (d) and then click OK.

Note You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

    (e) restart Windows Media Player.

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

    Step 2:

If this does not resolve the problem, disable the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:

  • In FF 18, how can I make a open NewTab * completely * blank page? (disable the grid of newtab) FF18 does not keep the browser.newtab.url

In previous versions, affecting about browser.newtab.url: disabled blank grid newtab.

Now that I've updated to 18 years in Firefox, Firefox does not remember the setting.

When I restart Firefox, it changes the browser.newtab.url I had put in context: Virgin to the subject: newtab.

I found an option in the utility tab that took care of the problem.

    Thanks for your reply.

  • When I click on the + to open a new window I don't like the images that arise. I tried to change that in all: config; Browser.newtab.URL, but it will not

When I click on the + to open a new window I don't like the images that arise. I tried several times to change that through words: config; Browser.newtab.URL. I put in the site I want and it won't change. I tried to put in: blank and it don't work. I'm obviously something wrong - can you help please?

    Thank you

If Firefox is ignorant preference browser.newtab.url, the usual culprit is an extension.

You can open the page in Firefox Add-ons using either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons
    • in the Windows "Run" dialog box, type or paste
      firefox.exe "about:addons"

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, in case of doubt, disable (or delete, if possible) not recognized and unwanted extensions. Do not forget that all extensions are optional, none come with Firefox, and you can learn more about them by checking their reviews on the site of the Add - ons.

Often, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.

    Any improvement?

  • Using about: config, I can not change the browser.newtab.url string.

    It reads, http://search.conduit.com/?ctid=CT3301020 & octid = EB_ORIGINAL_CTID & SearchSource = 69 & CUI = & SSPV = EB_SSPV & Lay = 1 & UM = 2 & UP = SPCB20E22C-9AB3-4DEE-8734-2C360269F571.

I tried to change it to google.com , but it will not change. The string above gives me a blank page powered by google.

I did a scan special with Norton Internet Security, which has identified a number of things that he had to get 'fixed '. After getting things fixed, I was able to change the string of browser.newtab.url without any problem. So, no matter what the problem was before, it is now gone.

  • When changing the "browser.newtab.url" is there a way to prevent the update address bar?

When I change "browser.newtab.url" to about: home and open a new tab, focus is set on the address bar, not the search box on the home page of firefox. The same thing happens if I change the url to google.com or another search engine. Is it possible to avoid this.

This has been fixed in version 14 and more.

  • Change browser.newtab.url does not work

    Hello

Installed some crapware today and have trovi.com as the page by default when I open a new tab. It makes me incredibly angry. What is even worse, he has changed the browser.newtab.url and when I removed the config it STILL load the same page.

I tried to enter a new configuration, it does not work.

I tried to install this addon: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/new-tab-homepage/developers - does not work.

Please help me. Do I have to reinstall the browser? Why can't I change the value?

    I'm on firefox version 42.

Hi, please try to work through Remove Trovi of Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer by Malware advice.

Note that not all programs removal allows to detect all malware, you may need to run multiple or all of them.

After the withdrawal, you need to reset your home page and search, what you can do by running the add-on SearchReset.

More info for reference on the page tab: for reasons of security, 41 of Firefox, you must use an add-on like tab override (browser.newtab.url replacement), to make changes to the page tab.

Once installed, open the Add-ons (Ctrl + Shift + A) Manager > Extensions, and then look for the new tab override and click Options to set your preference.

Note, if you want only the new tab to be the same as your home page, you can use the Add on new tab homepage instead.

You will then need to restart Firefox for all changes to take effect.

  • changes to browser.newtab.url about: config no longer work

I tried the user - set the page to a new tab in everything: changing browser.newtab.url config

I followed the suggestion of extensions to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1081409, but I have no extensions enabled. None of the other suggestions were relevant.

41 of Firefox is no longer uses the browser.newtab.url setting in about: config because he was constantly attacked by malware. From 41 of Firefox, you need an add-on to change the new tab page.

Here are a few options (I'm learning more all the time):

    • If you are already using the "Restorer of classic theme" or "Tab Mix Plus" extension: There is an option somewhere (!) in his dialogues of the parameters to select another page in the new tab.

Use only one of these methods at the same time, otherwise there may be conflicts and dysfunctions.

Setting up substitute new tab and new tab custom

After installing one of these extensions, you must use the Options page to set the new desired tab page (instead of use subject: config).

Open the page modules using either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a (Mac: Cmd + shift + a)
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the side right, find the new tab replace or custom new tab and click on the Options button. (See first screenshot attached).

    New tab Override

Depending on the size of your screen, you may need to scroll down to enter the address in the form. (See second screenshot attached). For example:

    • (Default) page thumbnails = > subject: newtab
    • Blank tab = > subject: empty
    • Built-in Firefox homepage = > topic: welcome
    • Any other page = > full URL of the page

Then tab or click this form field and you can test using Ctrl + t.

    Custom new tab

It is easy to enter your favourite homepage address. If you check either of the boxes, the expansion will set the focus in the page as well, for example, the cursor will be in the Google search box. (See third screenshot attached). I had to leave Firefox and start it up again before new custom tab started working, but this may have been due to tests so many extensions back to back.

    Success?

  • New "Firefox tiles" disables my custom browser.newtab.url, how to do this?

I usually have a html/css, ready to open every time I open a new tab
    then I get this update.-.

Hi, 41 of Firefox, you must use the add-on tab override (browser.newtab.url replacement), to make changes to the page tab.

Once installed, open the Add-ons (Ctrl + Shift + A) Manager > Extensions, and then look for the new tab override and click Options to set your preference.

Notice, if you want only the new tab to be the same as your home page, you can use the Add on new tab homepage instead.

You will then need to restart Firefox for all changes to take effect.

Browser.newtab.URL has been set to my homepage and worked for centuries. Now, suddenly, it opens on a white page. setting of browser.newtab.URL is not chanhed - it is always set to the home page, but does not open it.

  • Browser.newtab.URL has changed, but still does not

I went in: config and was able to change the browser.newtab.url.
I changed the url http://www.google.com and click on 'Ok '. When I click on a new tab, I always get the page that has recommended sites about. When I go back in: config, the url is still there. Any suggestions?

Check first the addon by addon, disable one by one to find out what is the cause of the problem:

When you clear one and that the problem does not remove this addon or try to get a similar one:

  • When I open a new tab, a search page is coming instead of a blank page. Browser.newtab.URL is correct. What now?

My browser.newtab.url = about: blank was successfully set. I always get a search page of Bing referring to "express files. I uninstalled the urging of files specifically, but the page always reappears on a new page. I also checked the Add-ons in firefox, but nothing is there

You can use one of them to start Firefox in safe mode:

    • On Windows, hold down the SHIFT key while starting Firefox with a double click on the shortcut to the desktop Firefox
    • On Mac, hold the Options key when starting Firefox
    • Help > restart with disabled modules

If it works in Firefox Safe mode and then disable all extensions (Tools > Modules > Extensions) and then try to find out who is causing by allowing an extension at a time until the problem reappears.

Close and restart Firefox after each change through "file > exit ' (Mac: ' Firefox > leave";) Linux: "file > exit ')

    Original title: freezing of funds

    Hello Manu,

Thanks for the guidelines to help me solve my problem. Just to tell you that no, I have no error messages when I tried to access the office programs and Yes, I made a few changes in the pc... in the registry with Glary Utilities. That was my main concern.

However, I tried the AUDITOR of FILE SYSTEM (CFS) and it fixed some problems.

I also watched method 2 and did a performance using MICROSOFT FIX patch and ran that the Microsoft SECURITY SCANNER both have not reported any problems.

Also tried method 1, no problem in safe MODE. I didn't think it was a third party program... so I decided to do a restore to an earlier date... then the problem seems to have disappeared.

Start the pc also seems to be much faster.

Thanks for the suggestions... I'll keep them as reference just in case...
