My CD and DVD readers do not read the disc and my computer connects to the internet.

In fact, I was downloading a game whose download was about 5 hours. So, I start in the morning and destiny to let it download until I got home. Now, in general, I did it all the time without ANY problems, but when I got home yesterday, 12/08/09 about 19:10:00 PST, the screen was black and read something along the lines of insert a bootable media device or restart your computer. Then, knowing that my score was beautiful and just as good HARD drive, I restarted. He reloaded the check disk tool and started a scan of my C: drive. He then started a long list of repairs, the removal and relocation of some files and things. Fine. Regardless of return to work. However, once it started normally, I couldn't access the internet. I tried to use the installation disc supplied with my DSL 2WIRE Modem, but it did not read and doesn't not appear on my computer. Then, I checked the Device Manager, I found to my surprise that the drivers to my readers of CD-ROM and DVD have disappeared, as well as my internet modem. So now, after this long description, my question is how/where on earth can download the proper drivers and then transport them to my computer? I use computer a member of the family at this time and would like to return mine. The name of my internet modem is Realtek RTL8139. Thanks for the help.

Hello CC831,

Thank you for your message.  Go to your computer manufacturer's website and download the drivers you need.  You can then transfer these drivers on your computer that do not correctly work with a USB key or external hard drive.  Please let us know if it did or did not help to solve your problem.
See you soon

    Hello!!

    I have the problem as the topic - my DVD drive is not read/write DVD-RAM discs (recorder: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N). Unfortunately, there is no any drivers (more recent than I've got) for this recorder on the Toshiba, not even site on LG or Microsoft. What should I do?

    Hello

    To be honest, it's quite strange. If the laptop is preinstalled with recovery image, it should work. I tested it on my laptop 5 minutes ago and it works. The DVD-RAM disc is readable and different documents can be saved on the disk too.

    Do you use your own installation of OS, or you still have some factory settings?

  • CD/DVD-Rom will not read the CD

    I just upgraded from vista to windows 7 Home premium database on my laptop and now my CD-DVD-Rom will not read any CD I put in the drive. He reads that DVD very well so I'm up for a loop now. My drivers are all far better that I can find. I know it's a CD-DVD-Rom, because before I updated I had no problem reading CDs and DVDs. This is a problem because all my anti-virus and other programs are all on CD. I don't know how to fix this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    -Thank you

    Thanks for the post with suggestions. I have tried it all and still had the same problem. I called Dell and got the laptop computer and an hour with a tech restarted my computer and try to fix it, they decided that something in the upgrade process damaged my CDRom and they sent me a new to replace my current one. I'll get it Tuesday and weather post or not, that is the question. Just in case where there are other people out there who might have the same problem.

    -Thank you again for your help

  • DVD drive can not read some discs

    So I have scowered the Internet trying to find an answer to my problem, but everyone always seems to have the same problem except theirs is slightly different so their solutions don't work for me.

    My problem is that my DVD drive (f) works perfectly fine except when I put the CD - RW that I used to save files to my old Toshiba laptop, my laptop (also a Toshiba) seems to ignore my CD drive (d), but which has never really bothered before.

    So my DVD player works perfectly fine for other CD or DVD that I put in, it's only the CD that I used on my old laptop. When I put one in, I can hear it trying to read the CD, then it's just a few stops, when I double click to open the drive, it just comes up with a message saying "Please insert a disc into drive F:."

    The CD works perfectly well on my dads, which is also a Vista laptop so I do not understand why mine doesn't seem to like their reading.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated I need the contents of the CD to my university work.

    Thank you.

  • Re: Satellite 5200-501 (old) Cd/Dvd-rom is not reading the CD rom/DVD

    Hello

    I have an old laptop of my father (purchased in 2003). I clean the laptop to use it for surfing the Internet.
    Unfortunately, I noticed that the CD DVD rom (with signature of driver of Aplix Corpation) doesnot read the Cd or DVd.

    2 questions.

    1 can someone help me with troubleshooting?
    -J' already checked the Device Manager and the device SCSI DVD Rom SCSI Cd rom works / is enabled;
    -Tried it lot the driver (version 5.1.2535.0 Microsoft), but it does not;
    -He begins to read a Cd/Dvd (blinks) but I still don't see a drive mapping;
    -In the management of the computer the CD-ROM (Dvd - rom) doesnot appear;

    2. has tried to remove the DVD CD Rom of the computer laptop but cannot get 'live', who still holds the DVD CD rom on its place.

    Please let me know what I could do.

    Hello

    I assume that you have installed Win XP on this oldi.
    Win XP and other systems such as Win Vista or Win 7 use the Microsoft CD/DVD driver and a STRANGE special drivers is therefore not necessary.
    The ODD (optical disc) must be recognized by Win XP automatically without installation of any other drivers driver update is not necessary.

    I recommend the removal of the CD/DVD drive in Device Manager, and then remove the upper and lower registry filters.

    Here is a document of useful knowledge Ms.

  • Satellite P200-140-CD/DVD drive does not read the CD

    Hi all

    I have a Satellite P200-140. The DVD/CD Player plays all DVDs without problem. However, it does not read CD. A message 'no disc' appears.
    I've updated the drivers, cleaned the lens, completed all the normal tasks.

    Any advise / solutions out there?

    Hello

    Maybe you should try to remove the capital letters and lowerfilters in the registry, because you can often read here in the forum:

    (1) run regedit (Start-Run-Regedit online online)
    2) navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    (3) in the right pane, delete the "UpperFilters" key and delete the key "LowerFilters".
    (4) restart.

    I hope this works for you too! :)

    I have a 4 month old Satellite 100-447 (PSAAN), came preloaded with Vista Home Premium and a carpet * CD/DVD super-multi UJ-850 s player.

    Hello

    You can do the follwowing:

    Go to this website http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp,

    Download the latest update of the firmware for this drive, install it, and then try again.

    Sometimes, the manufacturer must update their readers for the newer recordable media and so I think that it is possible that your drive is simply not up to date.
