Original title: my computer icon

My Vista Pro lost the icon for my computer. How do I recreate?

Go to: start\Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Personalization > on the left hand of the window, you will see "change desktop icons". Click it and check the 'computer' box and then click OK.

for XP

Start"menu->"Control Panel"->"appearance and themes"->"display"), go to the 'desktop' tab and press the button 'customize the desktop...', check 'my computer' and click OK"

  • Icons of programs on my new computer disappeared after easy transfer

My new computer windows 7 had a number of programs installed and icons of programs were on my desk. After using Easy Transfer to my old XP machine (via a USB hard drive), all but 2 or 3 program icons have disappeared from my new office. Is it possible to have these restored without reinstall all program applications (or accessing each program folder, find the file of the application and create a shortcut)?

    Hi bspatz,

Windows easy transfer do not delete all the files or change the computer settings.

I suggest you to check if the missing desktop icons are listed in the users folder. Browse to the location: C:\Users\\Desktop

  • Win 7 x 64-OfficeJet 7500 a - Scan of the computer disappeared from the HP utility

I noticed recently that the Scan of the computer, as well as the other options are passed from the HP utility screen.  The screen was black with options of 10 or more.  Now it's gray with only 4 options.  I uninstalled, reinstalled and restarted my computer and it won't.

I have two 7500 s in office and both do the same thing on several machines Win 7 64.  It used to work perfectly.

Anyone know what's happened and how to recover all the features?

    Thank you

  • Hi, the reversible full system recovery or whole computer disappeared forever? Also do a full recovery deletes all viruses and malware.

In addition, I did a restore of the entire system using 4 built on samsungs recovery solutions my laptop twice in recent weeks that I was worried about malware and viruses hidden.

    Hello

A restore to factory normally wipes the hard drive clean of everything except at the start of the recovery process, it asks you if you want to perform a non-destructive recovery.

    And it is irreversible.

Normally, the destructive recovery will wipe a malicious software.

This program can recover data, even after a reinstall:

  • CD/dvd won't work - they have disappeared from "My Computer".

my cd/dvd drive and drivers have to 'My Computer' disappear and will not be reade cd dvd.  should which driver I for Vista?

    Hello

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive

  • Cannot restore my laptop-"Repair my computer" not appearing is not in the start menu

Once or twice in the past had to get my phone and it was an easy process thanks to the construction recovery option (computer repair) in the start menu (when you press F8 on the Toshiba screen), but now when I press F8 during the Toshiba screen and go to the boot options, there is no option to fix my computer. Fix my computer is usually the first option, but the first option is now "Start Windows in safe mode". Fix my computer disappeared! :(

I think that the cause of my problem is that I started my laptop using my friend's windows startup disk when my computer would not start a month back. In fact, he got my laptop going again, but after starting my laptop, he told me that there is a problem with the start and he asked if I would like to repair and restart, I did. In addition, the windows startup disk, I used to start my laptop computer is a 64-bit version and my laptop has a 32-bit operating system. I don't know if that makes a difference.

Could someone please help me by letting me know if there is anything I can do to get "Repair my computer" back. It is handy recover my computer when I want to just go back and get my laptop clocked in so it is better again.

    Short answer:
There is nothing you can do about it except to include adjustments to plant again. I'm sorry. :(

  • CCleaner 4.01 corrupts the bookmarks toolbar in FF 20.0.1

When I use ccleaner 4.01 and select download history for Firefox on the Applications tab, which translates to corrupt the bookmarks toolbar: all bookmarks from a certain one (a reference to a local file on this computer) disappear. They are still visible in the section toolbar bookmarks when I display all bookmarks, but bookmarked, they cannot be either deleted or moved. and this bookmark has no properties.

I see only between runs in my tests (vs not corrupt corrupted post-ccleaner) Exchange very few files, and places.sqlite is one of them. Others seem little likely candidates.

I submitted this as a bug in the forum of ccleaner bug, but I wonder if anyone else has experienced it, and if it may be a bug in Firefox. Anyone?

Yes, other users have reported problems after using Ccleaner.

Firefox works fine until it is 'cleaned' - not a Bug in Firefox.

I wonder if Ccleaner has changed their program recently to account for changes that Mozilla has recently made to the filesystem within Firefox.
And if so, users of Ccleaner using the latest version of this program?

BTW, places.sqlite is where are stored the bookmarks and browsing history and recently, download history storage has been added to the file "places".
