  I've never tested with the installation of the grid. But you can try to use the utility orabase:

  Usage: orabase [-s ]
         -s : This option will change the current value of ORACLE_BASE
              in ORACLE_HOME/inventory/ContentsXML/oraclehomeproperties.xml
              to the new ORACLE_BASE location specified.
  

  Follow the sub process of changing the BASIC ORACLE variable using the utility "orabase.

  1. The below command will show current setting for ORACLE_BASE.
  
  $ $GRID_HOME/bin/orabase
  /u01/app/oracle
  
  2. Now change the ORACLE_BASE variable with the " -s " option.
