My computer has been repaired after an infection by the virus. My calculation was a 32-bit system, it is now a 64-bit system. How can I get upgrades for my 64 bit system?

I got a virus in an e-mail message that destroyed my computer. The computer operating system was a Vista 32 bit. After the repair, the Vista system is now a 64-bit system. When I had the 32-bit system I got automatically updates. How can I get upgrades, like I did before automatically to my new 64 bit system?
