  I have a computer Dell XPS 8300. When I bought the computer I bought a reinstall of Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64 bit DVD with key code. I upgraded the computer to Windows 10, but repeated difficulties experienced with the installation of the updates. The last update, I have installed produces a blank screen on the computer. I decided to replace the two hard drives in this computer with the 1 TB SSD.   I replaced the drive and reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate. Everything except the Windows Update works fine. I'm unable to update this computer.  When I click on update Windows I get update with scrolling green picture screen in the toolbar icons, but nothing happens.  I'm not worried reinstalling Windows 10, given the problems that I had.  Dell says that this computer has not been tested for compatibility with Windows 10.

  I was surprised that Windows 7 has made request not to be activated after installation.  I right click the Start button in Windows and selected properties, but there was no indication that I need activate this version of Windows 7.  I have the key code and I did not change the motherboard. I don't understand why the Windows Update program does not work, or what I can do to solve the problem.
