My computer is undergoing intermittent blockages - CPU usage spikes in the Task Manager but cannot say what makes spike. My internet connection closes, mouse freezes, the keyboard is blocked.

I closed the unnecessary processes without result. I removed all non-essential programs to start. No virus.

Once when this happened, I went to start > connect to > show all connections and the wireless, then activated and fixed network connection disabled and stopped freezing. When it happened again, I tried the same (x 2) and computer shuts down. When the error report is returned that it took me to a page that says problem with a driver. I reinstalled wireless (x 3). I know very little material. Can someone point me in the right direction?

LaDonna3,
You can take a look at this article which deals to restore the performance of your PC.  Also, you should make sure your system is up-to-date with the Windows updates and then check with the PC manufacturer for drivers that are updated for your system. Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

    Hello

    Capture.JPG

I looked everywhere online for a solution to this problem. It just started happening. I'll work in AE and try to change something small (degrees of rotation of a layer of text for example) and the entire program will suddenly boost CPU utilization and stall for up to a minute, and then be fine for another couple minutes.

I had the system works for 5-6 months without problem, so I suspect something set to date that may be causing the problem. I have installed all the programs that I can tell are the problem happens.

Specifications of the computer are not a problem. Also have Nvidia Quadro K5100M with 8 GB of ram. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled thinking AE, it might be a problem with some settings but that did not make a difference.

I took the script I use (DUIK) out and tried the system without it but that does not make a difference.

The whole of the AE file is like 500 k and has only a single image, text layers and some vector boxes drawn in it so it shouldn't work hard at all.

I have exceeded Adobe suggestions for optimization of the RAM and the multiprocessing and seems to be fine on my end as well.

Has anyone heard of a problem like this or get a glimpse?

    Thank you

Well, apparently, it had to do with some bug. the last update (which appeared yesterday for me) fixed the problem.

  • Intermittent high CPU usage on 64-bit Windows 7 computer

Hi, I have a Gateway sx2800-07 and a few times a week, usually after sitting idle for a while, I noticed that the sound is distorted and the mouse stutters when it moves on the screen.  I did a trace xperf, which can be viewed herewww.willowproperties.com/report.etl it looks like usbport.sys is the problem.  I have updated my bios and you have downloaded all available software updates.  Any advice would be appreciated.

    Hello

you have a high use of the DPC.

    These drivers cause high usage:

    iaStor.sys, USBPORT. SYS, dxgkrnl.sys.

So, update the memory of Intel and the Intel graphics drivers. Try disconnecting the camera from the USB flash drive.

You still have the high utilization of the processor?

  • XP Media Center Edition became totally unstable in the last weeks 3 - to ehrec.exe CPU usage spikes and it stops responding.

I use this Dell original XPS systems is Windows XP MCE 2002 for 5 years now. The machine is fully patched and all drivers are up to date.

A symptom is that it will start a program at 7:00 pm registration and registration of the status bar icon always displays this name of program even if by 21:00, it should have recorded 3 other programs and began a 4 t at 21:00. When it does this the minute 30 original program will be more than 2 hours of broadcast recorded on the original channel tuner would not turn stations by the configuration of the scheduled recording.

ehrec.exe go out randomly to a State where it uses all the CPU resources available without using more memory or to all disk reads or writes. This will normally make ehshell.exe become desensitized and seem to be hung up in taskman. Doing an endtask on ehrec make ehshell to resume working properly. kill ehrec but may end up trashing all current record. I tried the solutions suggested on other forums (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\eHome\EPG purge and empty the E:\Recorded TV\TempRec directory), they have not helped and basically just made me have to reconfigure the program guide. I record only out of local air HD broadcasting stations.

I tried all the suggestions above and nothing seemed to clear up the same problem for me. Then I found this proposal it was v4 framework recently developed as a Windows update that may have broken my Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 on my HP box. http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/p/91307/471286.aspx#471286

I tried to uninstall the v4 of network and my Media Center works perfectly again since. Not sure if this is the only solution for the others, but of course, it worked on mine.

  • Computer hangs on a white screen on startup with the keyboard is plugged.

Original title: I have a problem starting

I have a problem when I start my pc with my internet stick plugged and it hangs on a white screen. I have to get the key out and close my pc and reboot to get to the screen to login manually.

This also happens randomly - some days it just starts with the key and the other days he dislikes the key and goes to blank screen.

Why is this randomly - this is my question? If the settings are the same so why did happen randomly instead of blocking me or just start every time? Why is it random?

    Equipped with Vista

    Hi donga65,

    • To go through the other advice?

Try Method 1 to downstairs, go to the method 2 If this does not resolve the issue.

Method 1: You can update the drivers for the computer to check the issue. Log on to the manufacturer's Web site and install all the device driver updates including the chipset. See if it helps.

Method 2: Make sure that the BIOS (Basic Input\Output System) is not altered. Check the boot sequence and make sure that the hard drive is the first boot device. Check with the manufacturer for more details.

Important: Change (CMOS) BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

    I hope this helps.

  • 100% CPU usage without a lot of programs running windows 7

    Hi all

I have a WIndows 7 Home Premium 32 bit OS on a HP probook 4320 s (processor Intel i3, 3 GB of RAM). I have a problem that even if I have no major program (basic prograps such as winamp, freecell, 2-3 tabs in firefox/chrome, McAfee AV), to the use of the processor many times, reaches 100% and the computing experience suffers dramatically.

I was check in Task manager whenever this problem happen, however I can find no particular trend in usage data.

Here are the things I tried but did not able to identify the problem.
    -Reinstallation of Windows 7
-Uninstalling important programs (including MS Office 2007) and to have naked stuff minimum as hp drivers, Open Office, Adobe reader, etc.
-Change Antivirus of AVG to McAfee and disable real-time scanning. I always had an antivirus in my computer, but this intermittent slowdown of the system never used to happen about 6 months back. I'm sure that no one is facing this problem of slow performance in an i3 processor / 3GB RAM compatible PC because of the AV.
-Stop web browser at this time, but then system processes like SVCHOST take care of system resources
    -Disable Windows Update

Is it possible due to overheating problem? I can verify this using my laptop in a room air-conditioned so that cooling is faster.
My laptop is under warranty, so I can't go as well to HP, but this would be my last resort because their service is just too bad.

I'm totally frustrated now. Seen two bad experiences consecutive (once in the HCL Office and now in this HP laptop), I am eager to try my luck on a Macbook next time: P

Please, help me to solve this problem.

Download an app called Coretemp, should tell you you're current time CPU.
It should also list the thermal Maximum for your CPU Model (think that's the Tj temperature on the main window)
Since you already have form and whatnot and still get the same problem I think it is maybe a hardware problem as a module of bad memory that could be the cause of memory leaks and corruption of some applications. But without looking more closely, I could not say with certainty.
You can also check the problems of memory with windows memory diagnostic (just search for it in the start menu search)
next time you start the machine, it runs the memory test.
You can also try an update of the BIOS for laptop from the HP website.
Also... BTW... MacBooks are known for overheating...
    I hope this helps.
  • Recurring gel due to periodic spikes in CPU usage.

I am running Firefox v9.0.1 under Win7 Home Premium 64 bit, with a dual core T4400 from Intel (Core 2) CPU clocked at 2.2 GHz, 3 GB of RAM.

This is a new (mis) behavior for FireFox.
Problem appears as periodic, temporary freezing of the FireFox UI.
During these times (during the period up to 30 seconds), FireFox does not display a new, will not respond to mouse clicks, will not be rendering typed text. These gels can affect performance systemwide, degrade the performance of other applications, even with minimal Firefox.
Initially, I thought that it was due to the mail MS Outlook Web app... but it isn't. The same problem occurs in Firefox sessions that have ever loaded a page from Outlook webmail.

I made up a few screenshots of the CPU usage and posted the result here. I post a PDF file if I know a site that would allow anonymous posters (more or less) to download a.

This page consists of images taken from the Process Explorer of Russinovich utility to show the use system resources. There is no use of I/O, which corresponds to the use of the CPU.
Firefox is without doubt the offending application.
Every 60 seconds, use Firefox picks of a CPU core, more than 90%. Use Firefox sometimes manages to spread in the second kernel as well (I don't know how he manages to do).

Info from thread by thread of ProcesExplorer (at the bottom of the image) shows that this excessive use of CPU is not the case in a plugin. It is the form come Firefox, correct.

As you can see in the treeview ProcessExplorer, I run the PortableApps of FireFox installation. But I don't think this affects the excessive CPU usage. After all, it is never used to do this. And now, after upgrading to v9.0.1, it does.
In addition, a standard installation of Firefox on the same computer (8.0.1) does NOT have the behavior of excessive CPU usage.

I'd appreciate any help you can offer to get the Firefox CPU usage to calm down again. I have several users who have switched to Chrome because of this bug.

Everyone wants firefox run fast and hang free with a minimum of memory and CPU usage, but the ideals tend to conflict as much as Firefox is often used with many extensions and in all probability of tabs masses, which in turn could contain heary image takes over and maybe animations and video.

Your original truncated screenshot had several containers of plugin, so little firefox was in a State of rest. You ae now mention webmail, and that conceviably would be a contributor to ramp upmemory usage and CPU spices then (CC & GC cycles) memory management.

Regarding the differences between the use of the two profiles, you have these two profiles to compare, and can provide clues.

Unfortunately troubleshooting tends to fall back on

  • Fort Portege M800 - always at 50% CPU usage or more

    Hello

my laptop M800 is still running with the fan at full speed, the CPU usage is running between 50% to 100% even when no programs are running, this normal?, seems the computer seems never to go to a mode of rest or inactivity.

    I hope someone can help

    see you soon

    Hello

Do you use your Portege with factory settings?

What you need to do is to stop all unnecessary processes running in the background. This will reduce the CPU usage.
By the way: change the parameters of cooling method.
You can find it in the plan advanced power settings > Toshiba Power saver > cooling method. Change it to optimized battery.
It will reduce the cooling fan activity and cell phone will last a lot quieter.

Test it please and post comments.

  • Excessively the CPU usage high on my Equium M70

    Hello

Recently in the last month my summer CPU usage hit 100% when I m not running any software tax (only internet explore and windows media player).

It is slowing down the load time and the area near the fan is hot enough.

I have a Satellite M70-337, with a 1.7 centrino processor and now 2 GB of RAM (formerly 512 megabytes). I upgraded the ram in December and had no problems like that, now it just started happening recently, I have installed everything that would, there is no unnecessary programs running and it was after I restored my computer to factory with the startup disk settings (a month later), he seems to have come from nowhere. On the list of the Task Manager it shows my web browser and Media Player by using most of the CPU, but I could have sworn that they use so far before.

I don't know if the RAM would have been a factor, but it was the correct RAM for it and windows recognized to 2 GB.

Why would it suddenly happened any ideas guys?

    Hello

I have the same model of laptop and at the moment I have no such problems. To be honest, I did new installation OS 3 months ago and after installing Microsoft Update, I noticed this laptop does not work as before. Just for example: if I use IE7 extensively with several different tabs in the Task Manager I can see this need for IE more than 300,000 k of memory and crashes somehow. After the closure of the IE and ending THE process sin Task Manager I can work normally again.

I don't really know how your operating system is configured, but in the Task Manager, you should see what running process is responsible for the high CPU usage. Maybe some antivir application? Sorry, but it is really not easy to sayt why this happens. Play around with the current process.

  • My CPU usage is at 100%, but the task manager says that nothing is more than using 01%

Last night, I installed the updates for Windows 7 during the stop, as I normally do. He said there are four updates, and one went by pretty quickly. It seemed to get stuck on the second (even though he probably didn't want to - the blue ORB turned and the dots are moving, so I guess it's to large or slow) for a few minutes, three update took slightly less time and at the time he obtained for the release of four, I was paying attention just because I was so tired.

In any case, I went to start my laptop (Toshiba Satellite) and on black splash screen "starting windows" with the flag/banner, he said that he needed install/configure 360 some odd updates. I had seen this before, although I do not remember how recently, so I thought nothing of it. I still don't know if it meant something significant.

Now the problem is that my CPU usage is constantly at 100%, yet when I finally managed to open the Task Manager, NONE of the listed processes use anything more than 1%, and those who fluctuate. I can easily boot into safe mode, and from there, I have disabled the start of the process, such as taskbar support and itunes things google related, but I still boot normally to 100%.

Any ideas? It would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm going to College next year and I really don't want to worry about finding how to get a new machine.

    Thank you!

    Hi Renae92,

    1. You have security software installed on the computer?
    2. High CPU usage occurs after the boot process?

    Method 1

As the problem does not persist in safe mode, then it is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    (d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

    Method 2

If the previous step fails, then I suggest you run the troubleshooter of performance and check if it helps.

  • problem with high CPU usage audiodg.exe

While playing the game, I get a message saying that I raised the CPU usage 99% of the base. This is caused by "audiodg.exe. I tried a few bugs that I found online. I was told that they would not work with my computer. I have a Dell XPS15 second-generation i5. Has anyone experience this problem?

    Hello

    1. what you did to solve the problem?

audiodg.exe [Windows Audio Device Graph Isolation] file hosts the audio engine for Vista and Window s 7.

All DSP [Digital Signal Processing] and audio processing is done within this file. Suppliers are able to install their own audio effects and DSP in the audio pipeline, which is then processed by audiodg.exe

In order to correct the high CPU usage, disable audio enhancements addressed by the file audiodg.exe. To disable the audio improvements, follow these steps:
    a. right click on the speaker in the lower corner icon right.

    b. Select the playback device from the menu. A list of devices should appear on the screen.

    c. double-click the device that has a green check mark. The properties for the device windows should open.

    d. click the improvements at the top.

    e. in the list of improvements, uncheck all the, or check Disable all improvements.

    f. click on the OK button to save your changes and close the window.

    g. click OK to close the devices window of reading.

I would also say that you use resource monitor to monitor the CPU usage.

Resource monitor is a tool that allows you to analyze the use of the CPU, disk, network, and memory in real time.

You can use the performance tab in the Manager of tasks to see how the CPU of your computer is used by Windows and other programs running on your computer.
