Recently, I installed the trial versions of cloud creative, cc of lightroom and photoshop cc and noticed that my computer would be closed in an orderly fashion.  It either freezes once I chose the option stop or displays the message Windows is going down, but then freezes.  Here are the latest articles that I installed before this problem and I have not made further changes to my computer.

I think I have a type of malware or something because my computer started running slower and I continue to be redirected to Web sites randomly when I use Google or Bing.  Records on the right side of my Start menu as 'Computer' and 'My Documents' disappeared.  I also get this an update for Windows live which stops at 57%.

    Problem:

There is no restore point on my computer if I want to perform a system recovery back to the image of the manufactuer.  I downloaded the USB recovery Flash Disk Utility for my model.  Now I want to recover my computer via USB, but when I run the advanced recovery mode he's trying to restart my computer.  Given that my computer will not shut down properly, I end up having to press the power button until it stops my computer and the recovery does not continue when I start my computer again.

I tried to use F11, but then I just end up on a screen that says either press on enter to choose to continue with Windows 7, press tab to move to the bottom of the list or press ESC for more options.  I tried all three and they eventually freeze the screen and keys are starting to make a Summit high-pitched beep when I try to press one, so I end up having to force my laptop to stop.

I also tried to make recovery by pressing F8 and then choosing the "repair your computer option.  Which causes my computer screen go black, and I end up having to force it to close again.

Is it possible to restore my computer to factory settings?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi, Jes:

Yes, it would be the battery.  The relatively heavy bar that is normally removed retainers of slide.

From what you described, I am afraid that your PC needs a lot of work (probably a bad motherboard), and you'd be much better to buy a new laptop or refurbished, than to pay a lot of money to fix yours.

I guess you would have to pay more than $200 for repair.

I'm sorry this is probably not what you wanted to hear.

    Hi,

Only way is to hold the power button.

    Things I've tried so far:

-First aid volumes. Came out OK.

-Clear the game and the third party soft. OK

-Restarted several times held close button. Problem unsolved.

-Time to a game of prior time Machine install. Problem unsolved

-Downloaded Capitan updated but could not be installed because it requires to restart which is impossible.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Your office is frozen?   If not, stop or reboot can wait for something to finish - you close all open applications?   Allow you your system to connect to the internet (these pesky background downloads or you are not always aware of synchronization)

As for hard shutdown - with button / stop

Have you held in the power button for about 15 seconds to stop hard - otherwise he's asleep.

After unplugging - press and hold the power button in for 15 seconds to evacuate the power of mac - that can help.

  • Windows 7 will not shut down or restart my computer. I tried all of the suggestions I've seen previously displayed.

My computer shuts down fine with Vista (64-bit), but not with Windows 7 (Home Ultimate, 64-bit).  It disconnects me and shows the "Stop" screen, access the drive hard as if he does something, but never closes my computer (or monitor) off the coast.  It's the same thing when I'm saying Windows restart my computer.  I always hold the power button to turn off.  Occasionally, the next time I start up, I get a message saying that the computer has been shut down unexpectly, but usually not.  Although I don't think that this issue is damaging physically my computer, it is still an annoying problem.

    So far I have tried:

-Modification of the settings in my BIOS ACPI.  I don't have the ability to toggle ACPI, only to change between 1 & 3.  I tried them both.

-Method of "Clean boot" Troubleshooting Microsoft.  Even with all non-essential services and startup items disabled, I always have this problem.

-Disable Windows Fax.  Only one had this problem, and so I thought I would give it a shot.  Not good.

-Another forum suggested turning off the M-Audio card.  Tasted it.

-Yet another forum suggested changing "power settings" in the device to the IEEE Bus controller Manager 1394, allowing the computer stop the computer, or something in this sense.  I see no option anywhere to change the power settings.

Suggestions of new, I can add to the list?

After reading a lot on the forums and tried almost everything, patches, disabeling energy efficient features on IEEE 1394 and usb. He hit me, everything indicates that the acpi on the motherboard and the table mps. Changing from 1.4 to 1.1 in the bios MPS table solves the problem and win 7 shutsdown correctly

  • Windows 7 will not shut down or restart

Hi guys, basically for the 3 days since my computer won't shut down or restart. I normally turn off every night and I've never had this problem before. I used the tool to update window update, but it says that it cannot complete the installation until I restart, but obviously I can't do that either.

I tried to change the power does-that is to say buttons when the laptop closed = stop down. But even that won't work.

Anyone has any ideas that could help me solve this problem?

    Thank you.

Not sure, but what about the command 'shutdown '? (perhaps with the /r (reboot) option)

  • New laptop will not shut down or restart completely

I have very recently (last week) got a new laptop Acer Aspire E 15 Touch, but I can't seem to stop or restart it.
The first time I stopped it it close normally, but since I closed it down to do updates (110) there will be no more.

I'm going to stop it and it just sits on the "shutting down" screen for hours - the same with restart.

I just had to hold the power key to close it (when it is not closed) or just put on sleep.

    Thank you.

If you are not able to stop or restart the computer normally due to problems with the Windows updates, you can run the Windows Update Troubleshooter from the following link and check if this is useful:

The following link may also be useful:

If the problem persists, we recommend to take it back to the seller for help or contact the nearest respective Acer service center using the following link:

  • Satellite L555-10N screen will not shut down after 10 minutes of non-use

    Hello

I recently acquired a laptop Satellite L555-10N, which so far has proved to be a good choice.
I have a little problem, however:

In the preferences of my energy, I put the time during which the screen should turn off, 10 minutes, if the laptop is not in use.
Although this worked well for the last few days and weeks, the display now will be not closed at all.
I did not change the BIOS or driver or whatever.

I remember to change some preferences in the configuration ecoUtility to enable.
At that time, I received a message that preferences should be modified to enable the functionality and I agreed.

I could not notice any changes have been made, but from there, the screen off more.
    I would appreciate your help!

    Thank you!

    Hello

What operating system you are using?
For Vista and Windows 7, I founded a good article on Windows power management settings:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD84026Q0000R01.htm

In addition, you can change the settings for each profile. This means that you should choose turn it off the display function for this power profile that you use or all profiles, if I used all of them.

  • Updates not configured correctly restore changes (stays on and will not shut down)

When I turn on my computer laptop windows vista, the screen «updates not configured...» "stays on and won't. Seriously, I was sitting there for five hours, trying to make it disappear. I tried to reboot in safe mode, last known good configuration etc. I don't have a Windows Vista disc, but I really need all the files on the computer for school work. I'm sure you'll enjoy it, it's almost time review and I would be devastated to lose all my tickets!

    Any help would be great!

    Hey Joe Smith,

What happened when you try to start in safe mode?

    Method 1
I suggest to disconnect all external devices except the mouse and keyboard and check if you are able to boot to the desktop.

    Method 2
You need Windows vista disk inorder to continue further troubleshooting. If you use a computer Original equipment manufacturer (OEM), I suggest you to contact the manufacturer of your computer for Windows Vista disc. Once you get the Windows Vista installation disc, you can try the steps from the following link.

    Hey neurodent

Check your system files and possibly do a repair installation if the serious errors of the system cannot be fixed

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally madeprograms,Accessories, right-click guest, and then clickrun as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or clickallow.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.
