I think that trying to DEFRAGMENT a hard disk 'default' is the wrong thing to do.

Compare to the conduct of a dirt road with Bald tires - while the Bald tires may be OK on a dry, paved, road between them work "hard" will result in a failure of the tire.

Similarly, many files on the hard drive when it is expected to be soon to fail, is also a bad idea.

Any small computer boss store can sell you a hard drive brand new and may try to "clone" of 100% of the hard drive of the 'old' drive on 'new' disk

Price?  It depends on the capacity (250 GB? 500 GB? 1000GO? 2000 GB?).

About US $100, you will have a new disk drive with a capacity greater than your current drive.

Add $50 to $100 US for the technician:

    Open the computer case,

    * Check the physical size and the capacity of the old-disk drive, to recommend a "compatible" replacement

    * Fix temporarily the new discs,

    * run the software "-disk cloning."

    * delete the old records (and he will give it to you, so that you can literally hammer it, so that no one will ever be able to read one of your folders – think 'security'),

    * connect permanently the new disks.

    * close the computer case,

    * test it.

It also depends on the "age" of your computer.

If it is still running Windows XP or Windows Vista, it will be over ten years - REPLACE a computer of this type.

rather than spend more than US $150 to keep until something else died of "old age".

Hello Atelier42, this usually indicates that you have a hard disk failure.

I would like to back up my data as soon as possible, just in case the hard drive breaks down actually.

You must also make sure that you have the HP Recovery restore set for your system recovery disc in case you do not want to replace the hard drive.

With this restore HP Recovery disk set, you could replace a defective hard drive and use this disk set to your HP system back as it was when shipped. Then, you could put your data saved on your system.

    Hello

The Smart error code would indicate that the hard disk is running out and must be replaced.  If you want a guide on this, let me know - include the ability of your current HARD drive.

    Hello

    1. how you try to install Service Pack 2?
    2. are you able to boot to the desktop?

    Method:
Step 1: If you are able to start the computer in normal mode, then try a clean boot.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

The above is an excerpt from the article below:

I strongly suggest you to immediately perform a backup of all your personal files, data, and anything else that is important for you to external media (an external IMO is better but you can also use CD/DVD or a USB flash drive) until the hard drive breaks down.

  • "The scan of the computer is enabled is no longer" false error

    Hello

I bought and installed a HP DeskJet 3521. It is configured for wifi connectivity to two computers on our home network. A laptop computer is 8 64-bit Windows. The other is Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

The printer seems to work perfectly. However, the driver regularly (as in all the several minutes or so) pops up a message saying "the Scan of the computer is enabled is no longer" or something like that. It is apparent from the system tray. It fades after a few seconds. Otherwise the printer seems to work very well. This happens on two laptops.

Laptops are in the same room as the printer and the router. The signal strength is high.

Why did this message occurring and is there a solution for this?

    Thank you

It is very probably the same problem I had with the HP printers for years.  It happens when the printer goes into a power saving sleep state and falls of connectivity.  To resolve the issue, you have to walk on the printer and the power of the cycle.  It has NOTHING to do with your router or static/dynamic IP allocation.  It's the fault of crappy entiely firmware and HP software.  HP 'experts' are playing the same game of blame-the-other-manufacturer or blame the old user that HP has always played.

My current HP printer is the third HP sub-standard product I've owned... on three (Yes, I know, shame on me twice).  I've owned a high-end, expensive laptop which overheated during playback of a video to youtube and two printers which disengages automatically when they entered in the mode 'sleep'.  It will be the last HP product I already own...

  • Firefox is responsible for the liaison between eBay and Paypal failure?

It's the third time recently that the link between eBay and Paypal failed. On each point, I tried to buy it, the "Pay now" button is, I click on it... and I'm 'time Out' ed. Over and over again. No matter if I click on the page of the article, MY EBay or "purchase history". The previous two points got finally adjusted and eBay implied that sellers had forgotten to complete a sequence to an end, I don't think. I have no trouble paying with Paypal on other sites and there is money in the account that you use to pay for. On the pages of 'Time Out' going up, it is suggested that Firefox may be responsible for somehow, so in desperation to this third moment of the break, I thought I'd ask, if I can hardly believe that it has nothing to do with you. If you can help, please do?

Hi, just a guess here, but try to disable McAfee WebAdvisor in your extensions (Ctrl + Shift + A).

If it is not, remove any reference to eBay and Paypal, as described under the heading "How to remove a single website to my story?" in this article - delete navigation, search and download history on Firefox, then try again (not related to an old favorite). Note: It may take a few minutes to complete the removal.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you!
