My hard drive is bad?

Recently, I want in my BIOS and moved to the high 'boot from USB' first priority. But when I turn on my computer, it does not read my USB key, it just says: i/o error replace the disk, and then press any key. When I remove the USB, my computer says "not found operating system". No matter how hard I try I can NOT ACCESS BIOS! No amount of F2, F8 or F12 pushing doesn't work. CTRL + Alt + Delete does not work. I also noticed that the screen says "media test failure, check cable".

What does that mean? Literally is a cable that could be loose? Shouldn't be able to access BIOS, even if I have no USB inserted? Or is it true that Windows 8 boots too quickly?

UPDATE: I decided to consult a person before I ordered the DVD. They discovered that, because of my deactivation of legacy in the BIOS as the C drive (hard drive) had been renamed as X drive! They have used a bootable disk in the USB drive, but still not available in the BIOS. So after a lot of research, trial and error, they have found a solution: 1) with computer (unplugged), who held the power down from 3 minutes button. (2) expected 3 minutes without touching the computer at all. (3) held the power button down for more than 3 minutes. These steps reset my computer! I don't know if that were taking him to the first BIOS (where the inheritance was to be activated) or is it restarted from the C drive, but now it starts normally. I am so happy that my hard drive is not bad! I share this solution in the hope that it can help someone else. Thanks to all who responded to my messages and helped me!

I replaced the drive hard drive with another drive that has been loaded with xp but it stil is.

You can not take a hard drive that was in another computer when the Windows installation, place it in another computer and boot from it. You will get a boot loop. It will start to load Windows then suddenly, re - start. This will be repeated again and again. You must install Windows on the disk hard while it is in the computer that you intend to use it with.

  • My hard drive went bad so I bought a new. I installed Windows Vista and everything works until I try to install SP1...

As I said in the title, my hard drive went bad on my Dell XPS 420.  I was running 32 bit windows vista service Pack 2 since the last time my hard drive gone bad.  The first time I replaced my hard drive I used the cd of Windows Vista install with cd drivers and using automatic updates of windows.  In a few hours, I had my pc up and running.  But with this record, it's a completely different story.

I did the same thing with her.  Installed Windows and drivers as before and I go ahead and do the automatic updates.  Everything is okay until I get to point when I download and install windows Service Pack 1.  I download, install and it seems to work very well.  Then it restarts to complete the installation and configuration.  After about 30 minutes of this, he finally said service pack error.  Restoration of the changes.  He then takes 30 minutes more to do.  After that, I get a screen saying that Windows does not start.  A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.  Follow-up by telling him to use the windows cd repair section.
I did this 3 or 4 times to do different techniques.  I did it with the automatic windows update.  Manually as an administrator.  After using the analysis tool in Windows Vista and in another way when restore you some files.  I am about to throw my pc because I've probably spent nearly 10 hours of messing around with it and honestly it's not my time unless there is ANOTHER way that deserves to be tried before I "Offices" of the thing.
Honestly, I think I read every article on this subject online.  If I type in service pack 1 and vista online I went to all the links on the first 10-12 pages...
If anyone has AN idea please let me know.  Yes, I would like at the office space that it but it would also be good to have another pc with a new hard drive...
    Thank you.

If you go to Start, all programs, Windows Update and view update history, you will see the entry failed for SP1.

If you right-click and choose details, it should give you the details of the error.

  • Dimension E310 with RAID controller bad hard drive or bad

I have an E310 with DataSafe (two disks Seagate 160 GB in RAID 1).  The other day, the RAID software reported a failed drive.  Left as is one night or more.  The next morning, the machine has rebooted with no hard drive found.  The stop for the rest of the day.  That night that he started Windows, software RAID said two discs have been very well and tried to rebuild the mirror.  Suspended kept Windows and blue screening. From one of the drives and rebooted.  Now running a week on a single disc without any problems.  So, I lucky and pull the bad drive which can't seem to see the software RAID is bad?  Or the software RAID controller might be malfunctioning and having only a drive he will not RAID so no problems?  Don't want to waste money on replacement disks if the controller is the problem.  Would appreciate suggestions on how best to diagnose.

  • HP 15-f009wm Notebook PC: laptop does not start in windows. UEFI diags say hard drive is bad.

I intend to replace the hard drive for this machine. What can I use?   I am using this one.

However I don't have a recovery disc and machine is a windows coa on it.  I do not know what image to use 64 bit? House?    Do I need to download a special HP image?

    Thank you

    Ben

This hard drive works perfectly. The good news for you is that if you have 10 Windows on the old hard drive and it has been activated, you can use the tool for creating Windows 10 media on any computer to do an installation of the full version Windows 10 disc and reinstall Windows 10 and it will activate automatically. It sounds a bit like 'Big Brother', but Microsoft has a profile of each computer enabled with 10 windows and he "knows" your computer by hardware ID or black magic, that we can guess only vaguely. You just need to know if you had 10 Windows Home or Pro (probably home and almost certainly 64bits)

Post back with more questions. You have other HDD and SSD options, as well.

  • HARD drive gone bad. How to replace the HARD drive and reinstall operating system without a recovery disk?

I have a HP with Windows 7 Home Premium TouchSmart tm2.  The HARD drive is clicking and will not start.  Error: Device not found Boot.  I guess I have to replace the HARD drive, but how can I restore/reinstall operating system without a recovery disk?  Windows was preinstalled, and I have the product key.  Thank you.

    Hello:

You can order a recovery disc defined by following the instructions on the link below.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00810334

    or...

You can download the 32-bit or 64-bit version of windows 7 Home Premium ISO on the link below and use your product key to activate the installation.

    http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-Windows-7-SP1-ISO-from-Digital-River/

You need a program that will be able to burn ISO files so that the DVD is bootable DVD burning. Burn at the slowest possible speed for best results.

Then install all the drivers you need for your PC support and driver page.

  • Seagate hard drive is bad. warranty of 5 years, but seagate says I have to go through oem?

I have a Pavilion P6277C ({personal information deleted}) which was carried in the shop (aka my home: job from a friend/family). The user States chkdsk runs every time you start and takes 40 minutes to connect to windows if it opens a session.

Shooting in car, watch TEST INTELLIGENT, fails, a lot of time:

Car has a warranty of 5 years on this subject, but RMA on Seagate website said I need to contact OEM for repair. Given that this device is only one unit of one year warranty, how can I contact HP to get a replacement under warranty on this faulty drive? Or we enter the scenario "Yes, he has a 5-year warranty, but your computer is covered only for 1 year and you're out of luck", where the end result is that I buy a detail with a real guarantee WD drive?

Here are the specifications of the HP Pavilion p6277c desktop computer. This system is old more than 2 1/2 years and usually with a warranty of one year. As the drive is an OEM unit it does the HP standard warranty of one year and no longer justified. I met the problem and the player has not been justified by the manufacturer or HP. best bet is to replace the bad disk with a new disk of detail that carries a full warranty.

  • HPE-390 t: bad hard drive

I have a desktop computer that the hard drive is bad.  The bad is 1.5 GB.  I do not have the recovery discs and I was wondering what I need to order another 1.5 gig disc if I indeed get the DVD recovery or can I go with a 1 GB?

I have a windows 7 DVD House and can load windows with using the product on the case id numbers if I had to.  It would be probably better if I didn't have the recovery discs because the drivers to load.  I intend never upgrade to windows 10 I like 7 much better.

I have upgraded to windows 10 a few months ago, but now it went with the player headed south.   I found a 1 GB for $50 with free shipping and it's one I'd like to buy, but not sure the recovery DVD would work if I use a hard drive that is smaller than the original. Thanks for any help on this. Tom

This is a company that several members have used to buy the recovery media.  Try them to see what is happening.  They were for much older than the one you are working on computers.

    Hello!

Have you tried the Drive Fitness Test as suggested Akuma? You can check the HARD drive for bad sectors.

CHKDSK isn't identical to the DFT and it can t detect errors on the HARD drive. Please run DFT to determine if the problem is the HDD, or not associated with.

  • Satellite A30 - 30F does not recognize my hard drive

    Hello
I have a laptop Satellite A30 and when I start it up I get this message:

I think my laptop is trying to boot from LAN because that does not recognize the hard drive, but the drive is ok, I tried on another computer with problem. Sometimes, not always, and I don't know why, I can start from the CD. If I boot from the Windows XP installation disk, I can access the hard drive. I've run fixboot and fixmbr hard disk, but that does not change. The bios recognizes the hard drive. BIOS vertsion is 1.20. I tried to upgrade the BIOS, but I need to Windows, so...

Thank you very much and sorry for my English :)

    Hello!

To message PXE, you can consult this document:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB8A02G90000R01.htm

I think that your HARD drive or disc HARD controller of the motherboard is faulty, but I don't know m.
Have you checked the HARD drive with a special tool for this? The Drive Fitness Test can check the HARD drive for bad sectors or something else:

Take the test and post your result!

  • Satellite L300-17I - hard drive replacement

Hi, I have a few questions.

My laptop is Toshiba Satellite L300 - 17l as I have already written. My internal HARD drive is broken. He has some bad sectors, and I do not know how to isolate them so that I could use the rest of the hard disk! Can you help me and why I can't install Windows 7 on drive D, it only allows me to install on the C partition?

And another question: my HARD drive is MK2552GSX but I can not find it on the market, so I ask is it ok if I buy a MK2565GSX? He would be able to me contruction the present MK2552GSX with MK2565GSX or it is impossible? I mean, is this compatible with my main card drive or not? and if not you know witch drives comatible?

    Thank you! :)

    Hi Dimitar,

To be honest, if your hard drive has bad sectors it s time to replace because it s not advisable to save all data on it.

With regard to the new HARD drive: you can install all models I think. Is important that you buy a model of 2.5 HARD drive SATA interface but each HARD disk will work so it s not making not specific.
So, you can buy the Toshiba MK2565GSX you found :)

  • P7-1490 Pavilion saying that the hard drive needs to be repaired or replaced

Could Netflix streaming on the computer and look at the poster on the monitor have shortened the life expectancy of the hard drive at all?  Otherwise, I do not use the computer that much, and I'm surprised that the drive lasted only 1 1/3 years.  What part of a computer using streaming more?  The processor, hard drive, both?

No, I sincerely doubt that the photos could cause such a problem.

If the drive is empty, do a full format (not quick format) to make it clean.

Just to be sure, it will be useful if you could do a bad sector scan.

Here is a link to help you with bad sectors.

  • After the new HARD drive does not start installation Qosmio G15

I just got this G15 last week and one of the hard drives was bad. Put it in a new Bay 2 and it does not start. I took it back and it starts fine. I even changed the main hard drive Bay 2 HD and it starts up fine with a hard drive. It's something to do with the scores, I think. Any help appreciated.

    Hello
I think that the boot order has been the bad HARD drive in the BIOS.
At the new disk you do not installed any OS, and in my opinion, this is a reason for starting problems.
Simply access the BIOS and change the boot order
