My icons have disappeared from the SysTray
All icons except time disappeared from my system tray. A KB (sorry, missed the number) indicated that may result by calling the Hibernate power function. I didn't exactly, however, under Options of Panel\Power control, the presentations tab, I put "Turn off monitor" and "standby" to "after 1 hour" for a few days. " All icons except time disappeared.
After I restore all settings power forever, however, the icons are not returned.
There are many posts & FAQ on restoring the volume, usually with regard to C:\WIndows\system32\sndvol.32.exe, I think they can refer in case there is no sound at all. I have the sound and the sndvol32.exe file seems to be good and in the right place (2).
So I think that my problem is not just the Volume icon, but there is a problem with all the icons, not just volume.
I also saw the FAQ related to a repair of the problem on "My Network Places" icon, but they have not worked for me.
There was also a suggestion to install the original Windows XP disc and restore the original files. In my case, that would mean coming back to SP2. I have SP3 disk, but I mention it only to point to how 'old', some of these files systen will do. So, I have to ask:
- And how about the odd updates 300 listed in my CP/Add and Remove programs?
- Does not remove the customization settings, that I may have made in the last 4-5 years? A horrible thought!
Would appreciate any suggestions

Hi Dave,.
· Did you do changes on the computer before the show?
· Are you able to see the icons in safe mode?
Follow these methods.
Method 1: Performs a search using the Microsoft safety scanner.
http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.
Method 2: Perform a System Restore and check if the problem persists.
Method 3: Scan the file system (CFS) auditor to repair corrupted files.

Icons have disappeared from the screen. How to recover?
All my icons disappeared a week ago and I can't get back them. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you.
Hello Moira.
You had recently done anything or made any changes to your computer just before this started? Were in line just before that happens? In both cases two different things to try. First, go to control panel, backup and restore, and click Restore. You find a restore point that is at least a week ago, and preferably at least a day or two before your icons have disappeared. Making the point of restoration solves the problem for you?
If not, or for later use, you must download, install, and then run these two anti-malware applications:
Malwarebytes' anti-malware: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html .
SuperAntiSpyware: http://download.cnet.com/SuperAntiSpyware-Free-Edition/3000-8022_4-10523889.html.
Then run your antivirus application do not have? I use and recommend Avast: http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10019223.html.
Let me know how you fare.
Kind regards

Some user icons have disappeared from the Office
I use a Sony Vaio laptop running Vista business with Service Pack 2.
Earlier today, most of the icons on my desktop disappeared. Who else is shortcuts in the folder C:\USERS\PUBLIC\DESKTOP. Those who have disappeared are those of C:\USERS\MYNAME\DESKTOP. When I look in this file by using Solution Explorer, all the files are still present. It's just you display the icon on the desktop that is missing.
I am connected to my usual account that has administrator privileges. Office properties are set to "Show desktop icons" and "snap to grid".
Earlier today, I installed an update of AVG Internet Security and performed a full scan, but can't say for sure if the disappearance of the icons has coincided with this.
It seems that the system is linking the visible office with the files in the Public folder, but not those in my personal file.
I tried to restore the system to the earlier dates, but this did not restore desktop layout.
Can anyone tell how to recover? Help will be very appreciated.
Hi Jessen
Thanks for your reply.
In fact, it became obvious that the registry has been damaged. I restored the registry to a previous state by using a backup, and that solved the problem.
Thank you for your suggestions.

Add to the CC library
Missing icons:
-New color swatch

-Remove the shade
Is this a bug? What is a display setting that died in the update? Would be great to anyone can help, as now I have to do a right click to have as many options on the color chart.

BlackBerry Smartphones calendar icon has disappeared from the screen
Torch 9800.
Calendar icon has disappeared from the menu display. I have synced with desktop calendar so transfer the log events are going to the device and reminders for events are appearing. without an icon I am unbale to make journal entries in my phone. How to restore the icon of the menu display calendar? Thank you. Robyn
Thanks for sharing everything you already tried... any information help so avoid redundant orientation.
Please, dig deeply and carefully on all the home screen panels, subfolders, etc... It is easy to accidentally move an icon to a different location. Also, you dig, please make sure that "Show all" is active, just in case you've hidden inadvertently to the icon.
Good luck and let us know!

All my posts have disappeared from the Inbox.
I realized there is a similar problem posted, but proposed solutions don't work here and the details here are different.
All messages have disappeared from the Inbox. The sent box is fine, but deleted from the Inbox messages do not appear in the Recycle Bin.
A search of the Inbox for messages of size > 0 allows me to see the messages and respond to them.
If I move a message to another folder the moved message is invisible but believes it is search.Deleted messages are in the trash folder, but is not visible. A search in the trash finds them.
Messages in the search boxes reuse (response, delete), but try to delete a selected message in the search box list has no effect.
I found a solution. I can't take credit, but I tell you that I was almost embarrassed the simplicity of the solution and the problem.
AT & T ConnectTech technician admitted that when I could left click and select the message in a tab, it was probable that nothing was clicked in the "select to display columns" in the top right of the CT. He clicks on a selection of articles and automatically that my messages appeared. -
