My iMac graphics card fail?

OK last week my iMac 27-inch quad core end 2009 graph card fail is all and with artifacts square pixelated took itnto the Apple Store close to my house in Spain and they said only an iMac which is aged over 5 years with graphics problem they can't touch to fix so looking on the net I found this map that looks a lot like my ati Radeon card 4850 only it has 512 MB of ram instead of what the 5750, who has a gig of video ram. I can put this card into my iMac late 2009

http://www.eBay.es/ITM/genuine-Apple-iMac-27-A1312-ATI-Radeon-video-card-HD5750-MC511LL-A-109-B97157-0-/272070941812?has...

I am piecemeal on eBay due to many bad experiences of people, but because I live in Spain and the graphic is in the USA, I won't be on a back row fourth fight with the seller, I would like to know if it is possible to put this map on an iMac 2009 end will he made and since apple is not so good to advise me on this matter and rude if I buy it for apple's not ready to put in my machine

I started having the same problem. You can connect in safe mode - hold SHIFT key upon restart.

It is not a hardware problem, others is having the same problem. The problem of lookslikeN with the drivers of the OSC.

    Hello

I've updated my PS - CC to 14.1.2 and now my graphics card is not recognized.  The problem was supposed to have resolved this update.  I have an iMac 27 inch end 2012 with 32 GB memory and 1 TB of hard drive.  My graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 512 MB of 660M.   When you start PS - CC after the update, I received a message that my graphics card was not recognized and I need to update the driver.  As you have known, only Apple has updates to the graphics driver.  There is NO update driver on Apple.  Checking my preferences I don't have the ability to Open GL now.  My driver works well with 14.1.1.  I'll try to retreat towards the 14.1.1 if possible.  Any help would be appreciated!

Here's an update of the above.  Just by chance, I found an interesting solution.  I restarted my computer and then open PS - CC 14.1.2.  I received the same message... PS does not recognize that your graphics card for people with disabilities advanced display options.  Otherword, NO Open GL graphics.  So, I closed PC - CC and rebooted just to see what would happen and... I don't have the error message.  Check the Preferrrence, found my recognized graphics card and I have Open GL.  If for some reason, the first time you open PC - CC 14.1.2 with iMac, your graphics card will not recognize.  Just close and open again and you'll get him back.  Weird!  Adobe, please fix this for us users of iMac!

  • Satellite A350 dead - motherboard, graphics card fail AGAIN

Hello, this is my second problem with my Toshiba Satellite A350, and, honestly, I don't think I'll buy one of toshibas in the future. Allows from my first problem. I've posted it here: [http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=170074#170074 | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=170074#170074] warranty repair gots a month. Yesterday, I turned off my toshiba and today he's dead, I mean that nothing happens after clicking on the button / STOP. Same POWER leads is not brilliant, are not from radiators, nothing happens at all. When I put the provider in notebook power cable, power supply unit led is shining and full-charged battery led shines too - so it is not the power supply problem. I'm pretty sure that it is motherboard crash once again, can someone just confirm that? :)

I have to send it for repair under warranty once again, but it's clear to me that to happen again and again after any repair until the warranty end - before the first repair, he had a lot of problems with the graphics card - laptop has been hung up for awhile and after that he was communicating Windows 'video driver did not. ", but he got the device again. After repair, it was happening again, not as often as before, but it was, so I think that it is not only motherboard problem.

I heard that after 3 repairs, I should get a new notebook from Toshiba. Is this true? I think I am done with this :(

    Hello

I'm so sorry to hear you have these problems with this laptop nice Mr. I have same Satellite A300 and I am happy that my works well.
Anyone here on this virtual path can confirm anything, but according to all the information that you have posted I believe the motherboard is dead. Please contact new service and explain the situation. Sorry, but this is only on the right path for handling in this situation.

Talk with the service people, ask why this happens and I hope they will have a reasonable explanation. To be honest I ve ever heard talk about this with 3 repairs, but you can talk with service.

    Good luck.

  • CCC and AMD graphics card failed after the driver update

    I have a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop 6 c-32eg.

I recently tried to update my GPU driver, as was necessary to run a particular program (oclHashcat, if you're interested). I downloaded the installer from hereand he ran. It looks good, but after the required reboot, the screen resolution has been set at 800 x 600, instead of the usual 1366 x 768. Then, I got an error message saying something in the sense of "your AMD driver could not be installed because you do not have the required equipment. In Device Manager the GPU was something like "usinig windows has stopped this device because it has reported an error."

If I try to open the CCC, the program runs for several minutes, with a relatively high CPU usage in the Task Manager, then the message "' Catalyst Control Center: the host Application has stopped working". "

I have now tried different ways to solve this problem, which none have worked. Try to download a driver on the AMD website did not work, because the site said that the pilot was not appropriate for a computer with switchable graphics.

My laptop doesn't seem to be using the AMD GPU as you try to run games as a test done drip slowly and with a minimum resolution.

My laptop has doubled (switchable CCC) graphics:

-AMD Radeon HD 7690 M XT card, with a 8.882.2.3000 driver version and date 30/09/2011.

-And Intel HD Graphics Family, with, apparently, the same driver version and date as shown above. I can't know exactly what kind of GPU Intel it is.

I also tried to update the graphic driver Intel, to see if that would fix the problem at all, but it made it worse: the screen become very red and low resolution. I fixed that by returning to a point just before performed system restore. Unfortunately, I don't think to do this before initially updated drivers.

So, my question is: how to I find the full use of two graphics cards?

Here is a copy - paste of my information system:

    Hello

There may be a 3rd option left that you can try for one more set to gpu driver updates, but I would first get your system to a State where the switchable graphics work correctly.

    Try restoring the system first.

If this does not work, the driver package AMD (containing two gpu drivers) you need can be downloaded from HP on the following link.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp55001-55500/sp55092.exe

In this case being able to find a game more set to driver updates, many people with your type of switchable graphics succeeded with the offers on the 3rd party site - I strongly recommend to read the Manual to get an understanding of how it works and why driver signature enforcement must be disabled in order to load these drivers.

  • faulty graphics card may adversely affect startup iMac?

    Hello

My iMac 24 "2008 beginning, which I've recently equipped with an SSD (running El Cap) to replace the original HD, is does not start. The boot process gets stuck on the white Apple screen, about a 1/3 to the top of the progress bar. The screen goes black, and then it restarts again a couple of times and finally get the prohibitory sign.

I've tried and failed: recovery mode and safe mode and reinstall the OS from a USB key.

Also tried to open mode target on another computer - but the other computer is even older and running what OS 10.6.8 and which is perhaps the reason why he could not mount the SSD drive.

Finally, I decided to take it to a laboratory. It is a decision that I tried to avoid because that where I live, there are not many Mac users and I never know technicians have enough experience to know what they are doing and I doubt they have the Apple official diagnostic tools.

The technician said that the SSD is very good and the problem is caused by the graphics card. The repair would be costly be useful.

My question is if this diagnosis is logical, since the screen displays the appropriate color and graphics for the various things I've tried (until he got stuck).

    Thank you!

The computer has never started since you installed the SSD? You might want to examine your procedures or try to boot from an external drive to test. You can solve the problem yourself by checking the LED diagnostic on the logic board https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iMac+Intel+24-Inch+EMC+2134+and+2211+Diagnostic+LED %27s/7443 if LED 3 lights not it is likely that you need a replacement for the GPU.

  • iMac 27 2010 graphics card / ram problem

Hello - read through the form and try to isolate the problem.  A week ago my end 2010 iMac 27 I7, 12 GB of Crucial Ram, OSX Yosemite went screwy - icons went fuzzy, and the system has just stopped responding. I tried not just pull the plug, but the computer was out of order, so I had to pull the plug. Please keep in mind it was a day hot here in New York and I've come for a quick moment to remove some files and did not close the windows a turn on the AC, so they probably overheated system or so I guess

Anyway, after a few hours and I came back home and turned back on the iMac. Immediately, I noticed some pale red bans on the screen. The system has been restarted slowly and then it stop at halfway however and just go to the gray screen. I did a reboot, re-installed the operating system made the system check, but the failure of operating system to kick when I do a normal restart, and I am only able to operate the computer in Mode safe.

Is there a way I can understand if the RAM is the question, the graphics card, or if it's the OS? A faulty graphics card will prevent the system from starting normally? I have the same question when I open it on safe mode?

I'm trying to see if there is a way to save the iMac and get more use out of it, but at the same time a few years if it's gong to fix an expensive that I can't do on my own, so maybe its not worth what's now 5-6yrld of fixing iMac little matter how the computer cost me back in 2010.

Thanks for your help and sorry if this question has been answered countless times before.

    JB

    Most likely graphics card problem...

    Note:

One way to test is to boot from the HD, (now shift key at startup), run utility disk in Applications > utilities, then highlight your reader, click on repair permissions, test for problem in Mode safe...

PS. secure boot can remain on the gray radian for a long time, let go, he's trying to repair the hard drive & trash/rebuild the cache files

    Reboot, try again.

If it does so only in ordinary chest, there could be a problem material such as Video card, (the Quartz is disabled in Safe Mode), or airport, some USB or Firewire devices, or the module in part 3, Check System Preferences > accounts (users and groups in later versions of OS x) > login items window to see if she or something relevant is listed. Or a stray process eating RAM.

  • Help on graphics card memory and upgrade for iMac

    Hello!

I need advice on a good new graphics card for iMac 27 inch end 2012. My work is mainly in animation, Visual effects and game development soon, so I need an additional card to increase my speed.

Currently, I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB card. Do you think I should stick to a similar card? Is there something new that will offer me better performance at an affordable cost?

I don't have much money to spend, but I can certainly use additional graphics now.

I have also 2 remaining memory locations that accepts DDR3 1600 MHz memory module, but it seems that this module is no longer available. If I had to choose between a graphics card and RAM, which should I go with?

Finally, can I install these myself? I don't have any Apple Store around me and I do not trust the computer guys in my area.

First of all, the iMacs are notoriously difficult to make something with except add RAM. Here is a good site where you can get some info on the dismantling, etc.:

    https://www.iFixit.com/

Usually, graphics cards should be replaced with the same model/type of work (if any) - see above site for this kind of info. I'm quite sure that you cannot add just one - iMac is not designed for it.

Regarding the RAM, just check out OWC for necessary RAM:

    https://eShop.MacSales.com/shop/memory/iMac/2012_27/DDR3L

Check that your model is listed. I don't know where you would have been told that the RAM is no longer available (FWIW, Apple does not sell RAM and uses of third party RAM in the new Macs).

I'd go with the RAM - how many do you have now? Adding RAM is easy.

  • I use an iMac with a wrong as a monitor graphics card?

The graphics card on my iMac went wrong.  The logic board is OK and works otherwise OK.  Can I use the iMac with the graphics card bad as a second monitor in target disk Mode or use it as a monitor for a mac mini? The bad iMac is a model 2011 (of course!) with HDMI ports and Thunderbolt.

I think you mean that the Display Mode target and any connection to the screen will have to pass by the graphics card. Whereas if you replace the bad graphics card, don't.

  • Can I use an iMac 27 "mid-2011 in target Display Mode broken graphics card?

I inherited the iMac, and rather than buying a new graphics card, want to use it as a second monitor on my MacBook Pro, with thunderbolt. I tried to connect the iMac and MBP with a thunderbolt cable, but F2 command is not turn on/off the iMac in display mode. I'm doing something wrong?

I think that you need the graphics card to be able to use the TDM. You must also use a good video cable Thunderbolt such as those used with your other view.

  • Can I update the graphics card in my iMac end 2012?

I am able to update the graphics card in my iMac end 2012? I know that this is not a gaming computer, but I want to be able to play low end games. Is this possible?

    # You don't have a 'card' in this model. Starting with 2012 models graphics hardware was inseparable and soldered to the logic board. Looks like this:
