My laptop connects to the network but has no access to the internet.

Another 169.254.x.x problem...

I watched a lot of discussions about this problem and I tried methods in them, but still no go.

Laptop Toshiba Satellite P300-061 / SP 2 / Vista Home x 64

I've been connected wireless with my laptop and my desktop (with an adapter) with no problems at this cottage for about 3 to 4 days.
Last night, I turned off the ability to laptops to detect the networks with the small button on the side, as I sometimes do.

I turn it back on today and the laptop detects the network, but it doesn't connect to the internet. If I have limited connectivity.
I restarted approximately 3 - 4 times and the laptop doesn't always connect. I am currently connected wirelessly on this network with my office and it works fine so that indicates that it is related to the laptop and not the router.  At first, I thought it might be a hardware problem, the laptop detects the network in the list, but it also detects the surrounding networks, which means that the wireless card works.

---

Things I've tried so far.

1 netsh winsock reset / netsh int ipv4 reset
2 ipconfig / renew & enough & / flushdns & / registerdns
3 Rename the connection
4 restart / complete closure
5. deletion of the network in the list and return the password
6 disabling ipv6
7 try to put the news in ipv4 manually, even though I'm not sure I did it correctly
8 turn off the firewall
9 uninstalling the wireless card and reboot
10. system restore

I'm really in the ideas and I would appreciate help, maybe I'm not the steps in the correct order, or something.
I tried my best to search the net for a solution but they do not seem to work, and I'm really in ideas.

Thank you for taking the time to read my thread and to help me.
-John

Edit: I would also add that it gives me the IP 169.254.x.x over any wireless network, I connect to.

Hi modsiw and VioletStar,.

You guys might already made with Gloria but give it another go on your system

Clear ARP table

Use the NetShell (netsh) command to erase, delete, or refresh the cache of the ARP (Address Resolution) protocol using the following steps.

  1. Click the Start button.
  2. Click the command run and type Cmd in the box text run, and then press ENTER. For Windows Vista, type Cmd in start search and press Ctrl-Shift-Enter keyboard shortcut
to force the administrator privileges. Enter the Administrator user ID and password and allow any request for authorization when you are prompted.
  3. In the command prompt window, type the following command, and then press ENTER.
    netsh interface ip delete arpcache

The command works in Windows Vista, Windows XP and Windows 2003.

  • Restarted my WRT160N, now my laptop connects to my network but will not connect to internet

I forgot my password to the original network so I restarted my WiFi router, now my computer reconizes my home wireless network and connects (accepted the new password and all), but when I open my browser, it cannot connect to the internet. My internet connection still works when I plug my laptop directly into my cable modem, and my laptop says that I'm connected to my wireless network, so I don't know what the problem is here.

I was pulling out my hair for the last few hours trying to find a way to solve this problem, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

  • Using a Vista laptop, connects to the internet, but will not load page. DNS problem.

    Hello.

I use a Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit.

I just have a modem and use a router. I have a network cable (cat 5) connected to my laptop and the modem. I have log-on internet and it connects. But when I open Google Chrome, IE9 or Firefox I can not load a web page. Google mentions something about the DNS cannot be found and DNS_Probe_Finished_No Internet.Frefox says server not found.

I click on the Menu start - Connect To - I am logged in. I already typed my password in the command prompt and appropriate the pppoe connection/address (I use ADSL).

I talked to my ISP and we tried to do certain things. But nothing works. On their end, it shows that I am connected. But I can't browse the internet. We tried to have the DNS and IP address for ipv4 set to obtain automatically and I put 2 numbers of DNS in manually once the settings have been changed to the favorite servers and DNS auxiliary, or worked.

Using command prompt, the DNS has been emptied. It did not help. The modem has been reset the ISP location. I also recreated and set up a new network connection.

My office is using the same pppoe information. I can freely browse the internet and I use Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I was also shown to be connected simultaneously with both machines, but that the Office can go.

I do not have Windows Update the laptop since on April 2016. It has not been used and the battery was empty. I tried to turn off the laptop several times, but nothing works.

Y at - it suggestions to solve this problem? At that time perhaps a re - install will work.

System Restore worked. I will run the updates and see what happens.

I think it was a program that I uninstalled in programs and features.

  • My laptop Vista with Atheros AR5007 802. 11 b / g adapter does not connect to the internet using the local area or wireless network connections

I just bought a new router d-link wireless n for my house.  Connect my Win 7 Desktop, laptop xp to Acer and multitude of other devices, but my laptop Vista with Atheros AR5007 adapter does not connect to internet.  I tried to disable IPv6, defining the name of the network, flushing dns cache, etc..  Nothing will work.  (It would not connect to an another 802.11n router in January either.)

I get local only on both connections Wi-wired and wireless, no matter what I do.
I'll send this to my office that I can not connect my laptop to the internet and he does not see the other machines on the network.
Any suggestions from anyone?  I spent hours trying to solve the problems, now completely stumped.

    OK, here was my fix:

I tried a lot of things, but they do not work.  I downloaded a 'new' driver of HP - it turns out it was the original with the problem.  I found another one that was about a more recent months, still does not work.  I finally managed to get the atheros.cz driver for my card files.  But they do not have an installation file.  I had to search for each old file in its directory, copy it to another place (to be sure, just in case) and then copy and replace the old file with the new file in the original folder.  Fortunately, there were only 6 files, but it took about an hour and a half.  This isn't a lot of time compared to the 18 or if I was just trying to figure out the problem.  Now, my laptop connects to the internet without problem.
I had this problem with a router "n" beginning of the year in a hostel.  The guy in the Inn told me that he had seen before once.  It's obviously a common problem with these cards (as seen on the "solutions" online) and Vista.  I'm always hating on Vista after this problem.
  • I can't get my Satellite L70C - 13 c, connected to the internet.

I can not connect to Internet on my Toshiba brand new. There are three likely causes:
    (1) on my BT Home hub (modem-router) settings are wrong.
    (2) on my Toshiba drivers must be updated, in particular the VPN software supported.
    (3) it is a matter of Microsoft.

Experts from the BT forum give me advice here:
    httpsXXX://community.bt.com/t5/Connected-Devices-Other/I-can-t-get-my-new-laptop-connected-to-the-internet/m-p/1549571/highlight/false#M115708
and I am trying to establish if the address IP etc I need relate to BT

Experts of the forum Microsoft give me advice here:
    httpXXX://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-networking/no-access-to-the-internet-on-a-new-win10-laptop/621c11b9-75df-4e3d-bd55-27fff2421c17

Their methods 1 and 2 did not work. I'm not willing to change the registry - I am not convinced.

So the problem I have unsupported software VPN? In this case, or if there are other updates of driver I need, how can I get them if I can't access the internet?

Another problem is that I tried to load it on my new PC (the objects referred to in the forums) from a memory stick, after using my old PC to save them. My new PC has a Home365 month free trial but it is based on a cloud then is of no use. I bought subscription a year from Office365 but need internet to install it. I can't find my new Toshiba's desktop already installed any software on it.
Where can I get out of here, please? My Toshiba drivers and software are up to date?

PS I had problems this announcement - in which case it's because of my links, I inserted the XXXs

My son-in-law came yesterday. I'm sorry if I'm about to use the technological terms wrong, but the new laptop does not connect to the IPhone (or vice versa), but connects to my modem/router. Also, my Toshiba connects to the internet via an ethernet cable.

He concludes that there is a software problem with the Toshiba wireless adapter.

I've decided that I want more stress and wasted hours over this so I'm about to go back to retailers (again) and require that they sort or replace my laptop.

I will update this when it is finally settled in case it helps others with a similar problem.

  • Slowdowns sound whenever Pavillion dv7 connects to the internet

Hello, I have a Pabilion HP dv7 Notebook running Win 7 64 bit and I have been meeting his probelems since reciving my laptop.

Noise runs great, but as soon as the laptop connects to the internet or I try to surf the web, sounds will encounter catastrophic slowdowns. Slowdowns do not stop until what is loading has completed. Even if a background program tries to download a update with no direct action on my part, it will cause a slowdown.

This happens without sounds, music or voice chat.

My computer uses Beats Audio. I tried shurtting overall in WMP which would cause it to connect to the internet, but in the end, it does not.

Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a way to stop this? Im not sure if the problem is the driver, or audio Beats or WMP.

    Hello

Try to use Recovery Manager to reinstall the IDT HD Audio driver (this will also reinstall the Beats Audio interface) - how to use the Recovery Manager to reinstall the drivers and software is detailed in the document at the link below.

    Recovery Manager - Windows 7

After reinstalling, restart the computer and see if it has improved the problem.

  • I just installed a new router and now my desktop running Windows XP computer does not connect to the internet.

    Hello

I just installed a new router and now my desktop running xp computer does not connect to the internet. I know that it is not the router because I plugged the cable into my laptop running 7 and it works fine. When I try to dhcp I get 169..., when I put manually the IP just get no access to the internet and can not ping to the router address. I tried to run the net work Assistant, emptied my dns, disabled all firewals, still nothing.
    Any suggestions?
    original title: connectivity Limeted

The zero configuration utility works very well. But it is a desktop computer and on cable. All other wired and wireless PC in the office is working well, then it's definitely this PC. He came out of nowhere, I install a network printer on the PC but that's all.

Your messages are a bit terse, but if I understand correctly

    • You have a router connected to the Internet and multiple computers connected to the router, some Ethernet cable and others by wireless.
    • All but one of these computers can reach successfully from the Internet via the router.
    • A computer that can't browse the Internet is connected to the router via an Ethernet cable.
    • You disconnected the cable between the router and the desktop problem and connected it to a Windows 7 laptop and the laptop connected to the Internet via the router.
    • You haven't seen any error message (except, perhaps, a message on "Limited or no connectivity").
    • You have installed Windows XP Service Pack 3 (or at least Service Pack 2)

Assuming that all the foregoing is an accurate summary of the situation, I suggest that you do the following:

Open a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK)
Type the following lines and press ENTER after each line

    Netsh reset winsock catalog
    netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

Close the command prompt window and restart the computer.

On the Start Menu, click programs principally made, click Accessories, right-click on command prompt and select "Run as Administrator".  In the prompt, type the following commands, pressing on enter after each command.  Include spaces in the commands, as indicated.

    ipconfig/flushdns

    nbtstat-r

    nbtstat - RR

    netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

    netsh winsock reset

Type exit and press ENTER.  Restart the PC and see if you can log in now.

    • Click the "Wireless Networks" tab.
    • In the list of "Preferred networks", select the entry that corresponds to your router, click 'properties '.
