  I would recommend that you follow these steps.

  Step 1:

  Test the issue in safe mode with network and check if that helps.

  Step 2:

  Configure the connection to obtain an IP address automatically.
   
  a. click "Start", enter "NCPA. CPL"(without quotes) in the search bar and press"Enter. "
  b. right-click on the network connection, and then click "Properties".
  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  c. click Select 'Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) Internet' and then click 'properties '.
  d. check "obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically".
  e. click 'OK '.
  f. click Select 'Protocol Internet Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)' and then click 'properties '.
  g. check "obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically".
  h. click on 'OK '.

  Step 3:

  Follow the steps in this article and check if that helps.

According to me, the laptop connects with the wireless router, as it connects but says 'Local only' - it won't let me access the router IP/control panel.   Looks like some system files on your computer is damaged. Try using the tool (SFC.exe) System File Checker to check and repair corrupt system files.  To do this, follow these steps:

  How to run scan SFC

  1. click on the Start button

  2. on the Start Menu, click all programs followed by accessories

  3. in the menu accessories, right-click on command line option

  4. in the drop-down menu that appears, click the "Run as Administrator" option

  5 If you have the enabled User Account Control (UAC) you will be asked to consent to the opening of the command line. You simply press the button continue if you are the administrator or insert password etc.

  6. in the command prompt window, type: sfc/scannow then press enter

  7. a message is displayed to indicate that "the analysis of the system will start.

  8. be patient because the analysis may take some time

  9. If all of the necessary files any replacement SFC will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Vista DVD for this process to continue

  10. If all goes although you should, after the analysis, see the following message "Windows resource protection not found any breach of integrity.

  I forgot my password to the original network so I restarted my WiFi router, now my computer reconizes my home wireless network and connects (accepted the new password and all), but when I open my browser, it cannot connect to the internet.   Guys, I installed an older Linksys CM100 cable modem and when I did I lost the connection to the internet using the WRT54G Router. I can connect fine net when I go to right fromt the modem cable to the pc. I can use my home network very well. I did a firmware upgrade, does not. I'm losing my mind. It worked fine before the new cable modem. Does make sense to anyone? BTW, I can't connect to the internet via wired or wireless connections and ping www.google.com gives 100% packet loss.   Thus, because no one here was able to offer all the help, I called tech support and was very surprised. I was able to get a tech immediately and without going through the 1 million on the phone buttons. The service is in India, but I could communicate well enough with him, even though I usually have people of understanding of handful who speak English as a second language. The issue that I had was that the default IP of the modem cable (192.168.1.100) and ip address of the router (192.168.1.1) were too similar. Apparently, the fact that the 3rd number 1 for both series was the cause of the problem. We changed the IP address of the router to 192.168.5.1, power cycling it and unfortunately it worked.

  My printer configuration report show that the printer is connected to my home network. My Control Center shows that my HP printe (my only printer) is listed as the default printer. When I open it, it shows a document in the queue, and offline. When I click on 'offline' the document in queue is considered and when I click on "Printer" in this window, the drop-down list displays the default printer, but 'use printer offline' isn't not verified. Bottom line, it's that I can't print. Help much appreciated woutd.

  Welcome to the Forums of HP, I would be happy to help you! I understand that you have the printer set up on your network, but the software says that the device is not accessible. Sometimes the IPv6 may interfere with the connection, and I suggest we disable that before anything else. On the fornt of the printer Panel, scroll down to and then select Wireless. In the wireless Menu, select Advanced settings, then IPv6 and.

  Now we are going to let the router and unplug the power cable (NOTE: do not reset the router), then do the same with the printer and shut down the computer. After a minute, plug in the router, wait to fully turn on, then plug the printer back in and wait for the wireless light become solid. Once the router and the printer are on, go ahead and re - turn on the computer. This will refresh the network connection.
