My laptop won't boot. All I get is a white, black screen with the cursor flashes in the corner.
I tried boot cd of the Hiren s and changed the boot order to cd drive. That did not work.
My laptop is a compaq, about 8 years old and winxp.
Press ctrl-alt-delete. If it works, go to file / new task, type explorer.exe. This brings to the top of the desktop computer? I wouldn't use Hirens CD. Go into the BIOS and change to the hard drive. If windows is installed

HP G72-227 WM won't boot to Windows 7. Goes to a black screen with a cursor.
My laptop is a little older than a year. Operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium. When you try to start, F11 to get to Recovery Manager does not work. It's just a black screen with a cursor. The version of the BIOS F.17. Conducted tests of diagnostics and everything going on. Lost my boot drive. Borrowed from a friend but it is not going to fix the problem. When you run the Startup Repair tool, it is said that if you have recently attached a device to this computer, such as a camera or portable music player, remove it and restart your computer. There is no device connected but it keeps coming back. System Restore has tried the borrowed boot disk and it does not restore the message gives that an unspecified error occurred during system restore. (0x8000ffff).
Hello
If you still have the startup disk that you have borrowed, boot from it again, select repair your computer and choose the command prompt. When this charge, enter the following commands and press on enter after everyone – including spaces as shown.
Bootrec.exe
bcdedit/export C:\BCD_Backup
c:
Boot CD
BCD attrib s h - r
Ren c:\boot\bcd BCD.old
Bootrec /RebuildBcd
Bootrec /fixmbr
Bootrec /fixboot
Remove the startup disk and try to restart the laptop.

Sometimes when I start my PC I have a black screen with the Windows boot manager at the top. Although there are several options available, that nothing happens no matter what keys I hit and the only option is to shut down the computer and restart completely. Sometimes the Boot Manager page turns and my office sometimes opens fine. I've updated with everything Microsoft has Windows Vista and I still get this screen. Anyone has any ideas.
Do a startup repair and see if that fixes it:
Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
Read all the info on the website on how to create and use:
http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/
ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
See you soon.

HP G60-635DX won't start or switch to a black screen with blinking cursor
Hello, whenever I turn on my HP G60-635DX laptop, I get a black screen with the blinking cursor right. I am running Windows 7 64 bit and I tried to do a system recovery using Recovery CD that I bought online, but the computer will not get past the blank screen. I tried to click on the F11 key but nothing happens. How can I find the computer to the factory settings using the recovery CD if I'm unable to go beyond the white screen with the blinking cursor? Here are the specifications of product for my mobile http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02033074

When you feed on my PC I get a black screen with the "Boot disk error msg; "Medallion system disk & press enter" what does that mean? I don't have the original CD or a recovery disk, what can we do?
Hello
This means that your hard disk contains an error, or the start-up phase damaged operating system. If you have any bootable media, you must visit certain computer services near you.
Maybe just an idea - you have a floppy drive? Maybe you have inserted the floppy in the floppy drive. If the answer is Yes - Remove the floppy disk and restart your computer.

Satellite A660 boots up to the black screen with blinking cursor not upper left
My new Satellite A660-10W sometimes (not always), when turned on, boots up to a black screen with a flashing cursor in the top left. If I stop by pressing the power button, it stops immediately. I then wait a few seconds and press the power button again and then it usually starts very well.
Could it be updated during this process and I'll be more patient (usually wait a few minutes) before shutting down when this happens?
Usually something like that shouldn't happen. Satellite A660 is no different from all the other models and OS must be loaded shortly after Toshiba welcome screen appears.
Do you use your laptop with factory settings or you have changed something? -
8/7, the following updates have been installed correctly:
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and the .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x 86
Update definition for Windows Defender - KB915597 (definition 1.63.1021.0)
Following this installation, the display resolution has been reset to be very low. When you try to reset the resolution, I was alerted to a driver problem, so tried installing this in vain (below error code)
Intel Corporation - display - Intel (r) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family
Error details: Code 800703E3
After that, he went to sleep the computer, but was unable to select 'sleep' (it is grayed out) but the stop keys option indicates that the updates were ready to install so I stop thinking which may help. It was last night. This morning, the computer was on, seen the screen DELL, then a black screen with flashing white cursor in the upper left corner. I tried ctrl-alt-del, got the dell screen appears again, then black screen. I tried ctrl-alt-del, thinking I could try one of the options key F at this time, but he won't even go to this point, the dell blank screen just screen.
Any ideas would be very appreciated! It is the second major problem that I had recently after updates vista install (the last time I temporarily lost access to all my files, because they were placed under a temporary user account that had been created!)
Thank you!
Hello

Black screen problems are extremely difficult to repair and all hotfix is usually a hit or miss
base. That there is no information on a black screen as there is just a blue screen
adds to the difficulty. Often using a restore point or Startup Repair will have no effect.

Defective boot to a black screen with white cursor and DDDP errors.
I have a Pavilion h8-1020, which began to show a black screen with a cursor flashing after the initial splash screen.
I ran all the options except a complete reset utility mode. I downloaded the Dell Diagnostics Deployment Package and booted from it.
I ran the tests and got these errors
4 c 00:0522 - system Interrupt controller or device has failed
These all failed
4600:021E - SMBIOS unidentified LM78A
4600:021E - Fan1 SMBIOS
4600:021E - SMBIOS chip fan 2
I put an old HD and it starts to boot to the operating system while it recharges. It is further than he gets with the original drive.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks, BC.

The Dell diagnostics probably will work correctly with the HP hardware so that the results are meaningless.
