my media player has stoped playing DVD any suggestions

just come back endlessly with no decoder

Hi, Roger.

You have installed Roxio or Nero software?  Look for updates on the manufacturer's website as well as in Windows update.

Open the Device Manager and uninstall the driver

Do you not see error (yellow or question mark exclamation point)

Click + next to DVD

Right-click on dvd and select Properties

You see code errors in the lower pane?

Restart the computer.  Windows will reinstall the driver

Added new software or hardware?

Had recently uninstalled software?

Errors appear in the event viewer when you try to play a DVD?

    Hello Alharris06,

Thank you for using the Microsoft Windows Vista Forums.

What happens when you insert a DVD into your DVD-rom drive?  An application starts play the DVD?   How long have you encountered this problem?  If this has started happening recently you have changed something with your operating system?

I would first check that your CD/DVD-rom is updated with the latest drivers.  Go to start-> Type "Device Manager"-> select-> Select (+) Device Manager for your CD/DVDs, CD-ROM drive-> following right-click and select update.

Please let us know status.  Thank you! Engineer James Microsoft Support answers visit our Microsoft answers feedback Forum and let us know what you think.

  • Windows Media Player suddenly stopped playing my movie Torrent files!

My Windows Media Player has stopped playing my torrent files. He plays music very well, but my movie files (torrent) will no longer play. I was watching a movie on this subject earlier and I clicked on something that I should not have and all the files stopped working! When my computer detects what happened it gave me this message:

    A problem with Windows Vista
Windows Vista has stopped working properly.

This problem has been resolved in Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1).

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
Determine if your type of operating system 32-bit or 64-bit.

How will I know if my system type is 32-bit or 64-bit?

Click the Start button, right-click computer, and then click Properties.

Under system, you can view the system type.

The average of 32-bit and 64-bit?

Both 32-bit and 64-bit refer manner that your computer (CPU) CPU processes information. The 32-bit versions and 64-bit Windows are designed for use in computers with 32-bit processors or 64-bit, respectively.
