My new T400 & three recent problems I've suffered

My T400 was delivered a week ago. I don't know how to contact technical support.

TYPE: 7417-CTO

(1) when I started it for the first time, it took me directly to the screen: "your computer has been properly shut down; Please choose one of the options. Then I started it normally. It should not start like that. Fix?

Used to Think vantage updates & after that or my finger print reader works nor is my recovery.

I get the following messages:

Cannot find the file S:\Preboot\recovery\nls required by this program

When I try to use the "rescue and Recovery" in the bios, he said "the recovery feature has been removed from this system.

After use, think vantage software upgrades, prints print sensor does not work.

What should do? Wait for a miracle?

I say half an hour, sorry a typo. It should be 3 drives when they arrive, insert your disc one and follow the instructions as it goes, the installation process should be pretty much automated outside of you entering information and selecting some personal settings. If your laptop does not drive one, press F12 to set the first boot device as your cd/dvd drive.

  • Recent problems of following Win7 failed to install software from Comcast

    Don't know where to start.  I can only suspect that all the problems are related to a single event and the more likely event, due to timing, has been a download, but Comcast Office software installation failed (automated in Comcast cable internet installation).  I suspect also that because only one sent to 'freeze' the problems here mentions conflict with the AV software and AV drivers may have been part of the package of Comcast.  Don't know.

    PROBLEMS:

    I can't uninstall the software.  Windows Installer "hangs" on "Preparing to install" and nothing happens.  I have to force close with the Task Manager.  Usually, that corrupts the images of my office, removes all the desktop icons and the Start button, forcing me to reboot.  (Near as I can tell, install the Manager affects Explorer.exe some how.)

    I can't install the software. The same problem. The program hangs indefinitely on "Preparing to unistall."

    After attempt to cancel install or uninstall events (default) after forcing the closure with the Task Manager, and after the Office covers without icons, the button start and the bar application (as if Explorer had closed, but froze on the chart in office), by withdrawing to the Task Manager to correct this, I chose the option "disconnect".  This allows me to disconnect and then reopen it in one.  However, once connected, I hit a black screen and the Task Manager shows a lot of applications is open twice in the list of open applications - and resident drivers.  It seems that the original 'disconnect' did not stop those apps, but the 'log back"repeated their.  It ends with a black screen every time and requires the computer to be turned off (where it crashes and then on the "shutting down" screen.)  See below.

    Restart or stop mode, closing blocks indefinitely. Occasionally, there is some disk activity hard, but in most cases, once it freezes, the hard disk is idle - but the computer does not move out of the blue 'Stop' window

    Microsoft Fix It will start, but will block indefinitely on "problems."  Review of activity in the the Task Manager, the program once hung in the "detection" uses no processor and record any activity. Rarely, the hard drive light flashes and doesn't show any use of research. Cancel will close the program without the need to force close with the Task Manager.

    04:00 - Windows Media Center to "optimize" attempts and crashes in the process.  The next morning, when found, WMC is frozen, will not respond to the mouse or remote control and must be forced closed in the Task Manager.  Once done, Win7 and WMC act normally unless specific other problems above.

    I also note that Microsoft Updates have been found and downloaded but haven't installed auto.  At least three recent updates are sitting waiting for my permission to install.  A Java Update yet, so.  Normally all these install automatically without my permission.  After an indefinite period, the close button appears that updates are waiting for a re-boot. I have allowed to happen once--sitting with a window "Please do not unplug or force close - update install" 9 hours - at work.  The machine was frozen.  No evidence of the update took place and all listed pending updates are pending.

    I run Microsoft Security Essentials and PC Tools Firewall more and feel confident that no virus does not cause this problem. If I were an academic assumption, the machine seems to block a lot of temporary programs who want to read or write to the hard disk.  But not all, as I stream video, record TV broadcast in WMC, use Firefox and Thunderbird - all without any problem.

    As I definitely want to remove the Comcast installs and a remote program of ESPN WMC get Windows Installer working properly is quite critical.  Wanting to use the program Fix It to review and fix registry problems is also strongly desired.  Here, your recommendations will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

    Phew!  What a ride.  But it seems that it's over.  Here are the details.

    Recovery always disc manufacturer's software on the open - so I couldn't do the disks.  All diagnostic HPs also hung on open software.  The HP site so their software were so any relief.

    I ran chkdsk /f and chkdsk/r with no problems found.  I ran the diagnostic memory of Win7 with no problems found.

    Because my last change encouraging (get the MSE to install a virus definition update) happened when I was able to stop WU Setup with "net stop wuauserv" I decided to try again.  It appeared to fail the first two attempts (each after a reboot), but by the fourth attempt and restarting, I managed to close.  The immediate change was amazing.

    However, another caveat.  At the time of the software of Comcast has failed, install the 10/26 and as the failure of the system, Flash and MSE updates began editing, I had also signed a 80 GB USB flash drive to the system. Read about similar problems with Windows 2000, I tried unplugging my LAN to see if it was the cause of the conflict.  (The LAN connection was started 10/26 - connecting the device to the router to Comcast).  There was no change.  I rebooted, I decided to unplug the 80 gig USB drive in case it was cause of conflict.

    OMG.  Either due to the success stops Installer WU of the unplug of USB or both-, I got a clean shutdown - no blocking.  Windows open in record time and as I began checking the integrity previously does not apps, MSE prompted me to fast and ripped analysis through completion in time record (I ran a full scan later without any result of virus.)

    I have considered a 'net start' but decided against it, as the machine was finally functioning normally.  The failure of the single application has been and continues to be: PC Tools Firewall.  Apps, I wanted to uninstall and other pending installation, all worked perfectly. Looking to restart, the listed stop one button update pending (not sure if it was a system) and that too worked without problem. A single update took 20-30 seconds and then stop without hanging up - as she had for more than a week.

    On the other 4 hours last night, the machine appeared to be back to work properly in all areas except PC Tools Firewall.  What had caused this wonderful series of problems disappeared - either because of the "net stop" or the removal of the 80 gig USB drive - or both.

    I have not restarted install WU by using "net start" and I have no immediate plans to do so. (As far as I know, it restarts after a few restart.)  I will check the State of system update soon and restart, if necessary.  But in getting my machine in perfect health, I will be slow to install WU get reactivated by me.

    Regarding the USB, I'll have to check on another machine.  I had used for port of some files on my machine (for portability) and do not need what he fixed permanently to this PC.  It worked without error during file transfer and I am unaware that she had no failures that could affect the PC.  Never the less, as disconnect seems to coincide with getting the health of my back of the machine, I won't be in haste to reconnect it.

    Thanks for your help.  Like I said, it was quite a ride.   But I think I'm out of the cold, dark woods and running with a sound machine once more.

    Since the first day I used it I have two questions:

    (1) the hard drive or something seems to be busy all the time, I hear "thinking" with noise, and it never stops. (the corresponding led (which is the 5th from the right side) keeps flickering all the time.)

    (2) the wireless led flashes all the time when im connected, stable and time to time its ok, but after a while it comes to flicker again.

    What are the reasons? How can I solve this problem? Please...

    My 160 GB Seagate that the laptop came with caused the light flashes all the time as well.  It doesn't seem to affect performance, but this is a guy very hard.  I've since replaced by a Hitachi 7200 RPM 320 GB (which I planned on when I bought it) and the laptop is dead silent and light flashes almost never unless I'm doing something demanding particuarly.

    The wireless flashes whenever there is no activity.  It may never stop blinking depending on your network configuration and usage.  Some applications will constantly check for an internet connection that could cause it to Flash.  This does not mean something else, and then the network interface is in use.

    Turn off your device and turn it on again. If this does not help, sign out of your account and reconnect.

    In addition, you can try to reset your settings.

    I recently bought a new form of Thinkpad T400 Lenovo Outlet store, it's going to happen in a few days. It would be my first time owning a Thinkpad, so I came up with a list of questions, I hope that the community can help me answer all or most of it. Any response would be appreciated.

    The specifications are: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26 Ghz, Windows Vista Business 32-bit, 3 GB of RAM, 160 GB HD, BlueTooth, Webcam, scanner, digital battery 6 cells.

    (1) we said the new awareness of Lenovo, but is there something I should check when the laptop arrives?

    (2) the T400 has any known problem I should look out for?

    (3) I intend to upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit, is it possible with my current card?

    I recently buy a new macbook 12 ". So far the only problem I have is upgrade to the latest OS. I click on update for it in the App store and it shows the time it takes to complete the update. When she is close to completing the update, it stops completely. I repeated the process a few days now. I keep my macbook restarted and update again, but the same thing happens. I tested on my macbook look older. I have a macbook air for two years. AppStore shows that the update as available and as I click on it. No problem at all. Managed to finish the update in 10 minutes or less and it restarts and the installation process occur as it supposed to be. So I don't know if it's the new macbook problem.     If I understand correctly, you are unable to update your new MacBook.  I have a suggestion that should help with this.

    The first thing I would do, it's what is on the backup computer. Nothing that I will propose should result in no data loss, but it's always a good idea to have a backup.  Your computer has software called Time Machine.  It is a fantastic software for backing up your computer.  Information on how to use Time Machine is available here:

    Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac.

    Once you have the backup, the next step would be to start the computer is safe mode and install the update from there.

    OS X El Capitan: start in safe mode

    1. Choose the Apple menu > shut down.
    2. After your Mac stops, wait 10 seconds, then press the power button.
    3. As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key.
      You must press the SHIFT key as soon as possible once you hear the startup tone, but not before.
    4. Release the SHIFT key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator.

    Once in safe mode, you should be able to install the update and then restart normally.

  • Layer duplicated to the new publication?  Weird problem with the duplicate() command.

    So, I'm writing a script that grabs the selected layers and throws them in a new document that corresponds to the original.

    But something strange that happens when I use duplicate several times in a row.  It duplicates my duplicate layers.

    What version of Photoshop are you using? I think the problem is that you have multiple selected layers when you perform step duplicate. With the new version that will be fooled all selected layers. By three not fooled, you are indeed fool all the layers selected three times.

    I think you should do that one step of dupe or change the layer selection to a single layer after layer selected and before step of dupe.

  • A recent problem in the prelude, which I've tried to fix without success, drives me crazy

    Hi all

    I use Adobe stuff for about 15 years.  Mainly photographic and illustration, but also more recently getting into video editing.

    I used prelude to sort various multimedia clips, setting in and out points and then transcoding to another location.  It worked fine, but suddenly and to the extent where I have a conscience nothing has changed on my system:

    ASUS P7X79 Pro mobo, 32 GB Ripjaws 2400 mhz DDR5, Intel i7 3930 K 3.2 Ghz, Intel 250 GB SSD (Boot), 2 x WD Raptor 500 GB drives in RAID (storage media), 2 x 120 GB SSD drives the two zero.  ATI HD 7950 3 GB graphics card (I know that NVIDIA for MPE) but I can't justify buying a card Quadro that this system is just 8 months and was well suited to the job chart and illustration.

    BUT prelude crashed, and since then I can not deal with multiple clips, i.e. set different exit points for many in this directory file and then ingest the, in bulk.  If I've made a point of entry/exit and click on another clip, I lose the changes, all the thumbnails disappear and say treatment and that happens all the time.  No matter where these original media files are, I tried moving them.  I can hear the audio fine.  What I've noticed, is that the prelude a new. CFA and. PEK file each time I click on a clip to preview it in this directory.

    I can deal with the media ok if it exists as a single item in a directory.  Not great, but it is a workaround until I found that sending more about 4 files in the results of the follow-up in the SOUL crashing.  I can deal with these same files in bulk by SOUL when done without prelude but fortunately course, it is nice to be able to get only the bits of the image.  Prelude is exactly what I looked if I could find a solution to this problem.

    And please - let's not blame my mouse this time? This is another new since I gave up the old one and broke the LED.

    Now, since this last update, you bird has been going crazy! One, it opens a new message in a new tab. When I select more than one message in order to move them into a subfolder, I get asked: ' opening (number of) X messages can be slow. " Do you want to continue? "Of course I didn't--I just want to move the messages!

    The "Delete" button provided above the message pane is much too sensitive. I want only to delete a SINGLE message at a time - not two or three unless I actually select more than one. Yet these two or three, often with lines of different disciplines, disappear from the window of the object.

    I don't quite know how to describe the latest issue: when I managed to get a message or group of messages, or change files, too often my playback window flashes of full screen to 'Restore down' and vice versa. It's very confusing!

    Yet once again, the question is NOT in my mouse! I think it is in the Thunderbird last "update". Too many "chiefs" (read "developers")?
