    I just tried to upgrade to Firefox 8 and was asked to restart my computer. During its restart and try to run Firefox, I kept getting a message asking me to restart my computer. I've done several times and kept getting the same message.

    I found somewhere on the web that the problem could be due to some windows update that requires restarting the PC. When you press this firefox prompt restart, update of victory is not done, so it remains pending and firefox will keep asking you to restart.
    Just make all the updates to windows, and then start/stop normally, so that windows gets all those sorted. After that, install firefox again and it should be ok. Mine is and I had the same problem. Discovered that I had 10 updates to windows that require a system shutdown. Those, and then installed FF8 and everything is back to normal.

  • Windows Update message "Your PC will restart in 2 days to complete the important update installation"

    Original title: Windows Update.

    What is your PC will restart in 2 days to complete the important update installation?

    That is the message windows 8 gives, after that updates are downloaded and installed.

    If you do not restart your computer soon, windows will force a restart of your computer 2 days after that it has installed new updates - to complete their installation.

    You must restart your computer at a convenient time for you, rather than wait two days and have it suddenly reboot maybe at an inopportune moment...

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

    God help us all...

    If you installed SP3 (it's a good thing) and do not a CD bootable XP installation genuine with XP on it, running sfc/scannow will not help you and he will complain - a lot.   Sometimes, when he starts to complain, it is difficult to stop.  This does not mean that anything is wrong with your system if necessarily.

    It is unlikely for the typical poster in the MS Answers forums with the system store bought to have a XP installation CD everything--much less one with SP3 already on it.  Why MSE suggest things?

    Still no takers?  ---->>

    If you have an XP installation CD bootable real of a plu SP, you can make a new XP installation CD with SP3 on it by a process called "slipstreaming" (sorry - there is no KB article for the Ministry of Education to post on how to do it).

    To your question:

    When you see a message like this:

    Windows file protection
    Files which are required for Windows to run properly have been replaced by unrecognized versions.  To maintain system stability, Windows must restore the original versions of these files.

    I hope that you are curious to know what is the file and when you know that, you can decide what to do about it.

    You must click Cancel, and then click Yes to keep the file, then you will have an event to watch which will tell you what the problem is the file.

    Search where you sign in to see what is the name of file system Viewer, then decide what to do.

    When in the Viewer system event log, click the "Source" column header to sort the events in alphabetical order by the name of the Source.  The events of "Windows File Protection" must be near the bottom of the list (because they begin with 'W').

    The event will look something like in this example:

    Event type: Information
    Event source: Windows File Protection
    Event category: no
    Event ID: 64005
    Date: 10/01/2011
    Time: 14:41:56
    Description:
    The protected system file taskmgr.exe had not been restored in its original, valid version because the Windows File Protection restoration process was cancelled by user interaction, user name is Jose.  The file version of the bad file is unknown.

    When you know what the file is, you can decide what to do about it.  There may have other copies of the files on your system or you can get the files from another source - anyone can download the file (s) you need for their SkyDrive and you can download and replace the files one at a time.  First you must understand what the file is that XP thinks he needs.

    A shortcut to the event viewer is to click on start, run and enter in the box:

    eventvwr.msc

    Click OK to launch the event viewer.

    Check your event observer system log and look for a proposed Windows file protection event.

    When in the Viewer system event log, click the "Source" column header to sort the events in alphabetical order by the name of the Source.  The events of "Windows File Protection" must be near the bottom of the list (because they begin with 'W').

    If you double-click on an event, it will open a window of properties with more information.  On the right are black up and down arrow keys to scroll through the open events. The third button that looks like two overlapping pages is used to copy the details of the event in your Windows Clipboard.

    When you find an interesting event that occurred at the time of your question, click on the third button at the top and arrows to copy the details and then you can paste the details (right click, paste or CTRL-V) the text in detail here for analysis.  Remove all personal information from your information after you paste If you are forced to do so.

  • Firefox opens a new window and moves the active tab to it. How can I stop this?

    Has got several tabs open. Firefox has suddenly closed the tab I'm trying (this seems to happen when I'm scrolling) and puts in a new window, move the focus to a previously inactive tab. What a swell feature! How can I get rid of him?

    Firefox 3.5/6 versions have a feature called tabs.

    You can detach a tab in the current window and open in a new window by dragging a tab in the browser window.

    You can drag the tab to the tab bar in the original window to cancel this detachment.

  • Windows 8 will not download important updates

    I've been using Windows 8.1 for awhile now but then he started getting all doubtful and I couldn't access anything whatsoever since the windows store. So I reset my laptop that took back to Windows 8. I went to download 8.1 of the store, but he told me that I had to download all updates, in this case 98. So I clicked on download and for at least 2 hours now, the green bar has evolved throughout, but the downloads are not to do anything... He always says "Downloading 98 updates (0 total KB, 0% complete)" and it's just not doing anything... can someone tell me how to solve this problem?

    Hello Joseph,.

    Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    I understand that you have problems to download updates for Windows. We will certainly help you the question of fixing.

    You try to install 10 updates at a time and see if it works.

  • Windows keeps asking me password

    I have windows vista. 6 months ago there was a power surge. Computer would not be loaded correctly. 6 months later, it works. My problem is, when I get startup errors, I forgot what I clicked on but it asks me a password and I don't have the password of the user account. So, how can I know what the screen start wonder.  This isn't for the password of accounts, is when you have to fix the computer during the boot and there administration above then you must type a password down.

    system recovery option
    to access the log recovery as a local user option
    to access the as command prompt, log in as administrator... then is request password. I don't have? How can I find one?

    Perhaps the BIOS password? Some motherboards allow you to define "passwords for the supervisor" for those wishing to change the BIOS settings.

    BTW, you should have a password as a system administrator. An intruder in the House can come and change everything they want on your PC in the case, INCLUDING theft of private data.
  • Windows keeps asking to reboot

    Whenever I have shutdown and restart Windows, I get a request (or not) to restart Windows. If I click on YES, the system restarts and I get the same question. I'm in _ restart. How can I get rid of this. and, perhaps more importantly, why is that happening?

    Restore point:

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html
    Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
    NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use:
    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/
    ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
    It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
    It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
  • Windows keeps asking me to reactivate what I did several times this week, how can I stop this from happening
    Apart from contacting the technical support team, is there something I can do to stop this problem of reactivation to reappear every week or two, it starts getting a little tired, I re-enabled now my copy of windows xp on three different occasions in recent weeks, I think that it all started going wrong when I changed the dvd player , for writing/dvd player and it just read, so I changed to the original and responsive drive my copy of XP, everything went well for about a week, then the activation window started.
    I can't really develop more on what is there without it run the risk of confusing you.
    Where exactly are you having problems?
    When you click the copy button that the report is copied to your Clipboard (hidden) - folder you won't see anything happen except maybe the copy button flashes once.
    Then return to your answer here and in the answer box, made a right click, it should bring a list of options - click on paste.
    That's all there is to it.
    The bit of "in your own thread" is to try to ensure that only the original poster responds with a report in this thread (question)
    Information provided to the sticker, this is exactly what we needed - all we need now is a copy of the report, preferably run when the non-genuine notification shows, as otherwise, it is unlikely to show us something useful.
