Windows Vista Compatibility Center

First thing to do is to check its Vista compatibility at the link above, and if not to see what patches/solutions are available from its manufacturer...

http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/using-Windows-Vista-compatibility-mode/

If this is not Vista compatible, read the info on the link above.
It works for some programs, but not all.

This applies to software programs, NOT hardware drivers.

If it's Vista compatible > uninstall it > Re-download/save to your desktop > right click on setup.exe O run as admin.

See you soon.

  • Cannot turn off Program Compatibility Assistant

I hope someone can provide me with a way to disable the program compatibility Wizard. I had this same problem in the Beta, but of course during the beta test I used Windows 7 Ultimate. First off I would like to start by pointing out that I do run with Windows 7 Home Premium.

That said, I know that this means that the most common solution, using Local Group Policy Editor to disable the program compatibility Wizard won't work, as the Home Premium does not gpedit.msc.

Now, this is the part confusing, at least to me. I found an alternative solution specifically designed to fill this gap. I was directed to the access to Servicesand localization Program Compatibility Assistant Service, stop the service and then turn it off (via the properties for this service). I did exactly that. He is arrested and the Startup Type is "off". I even rebooted.

Now here's the part that confuses me... it always comes back. How can he do that when I have the service stopped? This is another aspect of the security of Windows 7 I am not aware of this must be disabled?

As a note, when I tried to install the software in question, I chose "Run as Administrator", just in case, and who didn't yet have any advantage. If anyone knows what I have to do, including instructions on changing my recording, let me know. Thank you.

    Hi Mobius187,

I'm afraid to say that in Windows 7 Home Edition Premium, it is not possible to disable this feature.
The only way to turn it off is by using the Group Policy Editor.

    Hope that answers your question.

  • "Program compatibility assistant" halts open Soundbooth

When you open the Soundbooth splash screen appear normally for a few seconds of Soundbooth. Then a "Program Compatibility Wizard" covers the Soundbooth splash screen and warns against the "missing codec" and if I select the download which brings me to the www.totalcodec.com site that wants Larry me to install what is called the missing codecs. Notice that I am on XP and there is no "Program Compatibility Wizard" (only for Vista, Windows 7). Note wrong spelled "compatibility."

I ran a full scan with malwarebytes and McAfee and the two report I own of any virus or malware. I see no problem with other products of CS4 web premium.

I did a complete clean installation of Soundbooth CS4 which did not help.  Here you can see "Assistant to the program compatibility" covering start of Soundbooth and warning "missing codecs.  You can also see in the background malwarebytesthat I used to check for malware.

    Any suggestions gratefully appreciated!

  • How can I turn off Compatibility Mode in the program compatibility Assistant? (Recommended to install Kodak EasyShare software)

EasyShare Digital Camera (model C813) bought in 2008; Earlier software installation on laptop.  At some point of the plant to a standstill and recommended to disable Compatibility Mode because (I think because the software was older...?).  I couldn't find where to turn it off.  I'm not very tech - know.

    Thank you.

I think the message compatibility mode refers to means of IE, not Windows.  Later versions of Internet Explorer have a compat mode that allows IE to run like an earlier version.  The goal is to access websites that have not been updated for more recent versions of Internet Explorer.  Click the link Internet explore in the banner at the top of this forum page and use the forum for your current version of Internet Explorer.

  • Program Compatibility Assistant popping up on each connection after installing windows 8

install windows 8 on my laptop (HP Pavilion Notebook PC g6) but keep getting a popup saying I need to install the ATI Catalyst Control Center, I do a search and it says to contact ATI, but solutions at home? any suggestions?

    Hello

Contacting ATI (AMD) would not help because you need a stamp certified HP to be able to run on your computer. My suggestion: check out the complete model (G6 is not a model) of your machine and go to the (x) HP to check. Many drivers have been downloaded in support of the sites for these days.

    I hope this helps.

  • "The administrator system has set policies to prevent this installation" error install Steam .msi program

Hi, I am trying to install the Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/about/) software, and I can't seem to. The steam program is an .msi file, and unlike the programs .exe, when I click right there is no option to 'run as administrator '.

According to the instructions I connected as the 'administrator' on my computer (it's one PC at home to the unique user ID is the ID of the admin), but every time I try to install it it stops with this message: "the system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation. I am running Vista.

I tried Googling this issue, there seems to be a common problem for some, however, it doesn't seem to be a single solution (which does not require a degree in rocket science). I'm quite honestly only a basic computer user (I say this so you don't expect me to know how to get into the registry or anything exotic like that), so if you could help with instructions on how to fix this it would be much appreciated.

By suggestion of Steam, I have updated my Microsoft Installer (4.5). This did not help.

    Thank you very much.

Ah, I did it - did not work. The error message is actually a bit of a herring - turns out he can appear for a variety of reasons.

Turns out that my gut wasn't about it being a registry problem... the MS Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable entries had broken somehow, preventing the installation of all instances of the same Windows install. Of course, most installers begin with MSVC Redist installation, that's why they were all fail. Fortunately, I didn't have to change the registry manually.

I found a program on the Microsoft Download Center for help. Don't remember that actually was called but it is mainly to fix broken installations of MS Office (when they go to halfway, so there are entries in the registry, but the installation has not actually finished... so that windows will not let you install or uninstall). There just uninstall things correctly and released their registry keys. I zapped the entrance MSVC 2005 that has been there all my installers started working again!

    Fantastic.

So yes, by sorry, that's probably all really confusing... was actually broken registry ultimately. Fixed by Googling for a few days. :)

  • Reference Dell 375 Bluetooth no longer works after update Windows 8, R296919, blocked by the Compatibility Assistant programs - how to fix

Hardware: Dell laptop with adapter Bluetooth 375 Dell running Windows 8

Problem: after Microsoft Windows 8 update, all Bluetooth devices stopped working.  Moreover, they could is more to be discovered to pair them up.  Device Manager showed all works very well.

    Failure of attempts to repair:
-Uninstall all components of Bluetooth in the Device Manager and analysis of the material changes.
-Uninstall Dell 375 in programs & features (WIDCOMM Bluetooth Software) in order to reinstall (R296919).  The installation was quickly blocked by the program compatibility Wizard.
-With the Dell software uninstalled, I thought that perhaps that it was no longer necessary, and so Microsoft software would work.  Yet once, I uninstalled all Bluetooth components in the Device Manager and analysis of the material changes.  Still could not pair.
-Check in Bluetooth services and services were running.

    What worked:
-Run GPEdit and go to the compatibility of the components/Application Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates/Windows /.
    -Enable the following:
    Remove Program Compatibility Property Page
    Turn off Application compatibility engine
    Disable the program compatibility Wizard
-Run services.msc and stop the process of Bluetooth
-Extract the R296919 in a directory
    - on R296919.exe and select run as administrator
-For me, the installation failed the first time.  Then I repeated it, and it was installed fine, but required reset, which I did.
-At this point, I was able to pair Bluetooth devices again.
-Open Device Manager and go to the Bluetooth Module Bluetooth/Dell Wireless 375.  and select Properties.  Click the power management tab, and uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power" and press OK.  If you do not perform this step, you will have all kinds of problems with Bluetooth devices, including keyboards and mice.
-Reverse changes in GPEdit to not configured.
    -Reboot

    How to avoid the problem:
Microsoft has an updated driver that States it is for the adapter Bluetooth of Dell 375.  on the update and select Hide update.  Microsoft has had quite a few black Tuesday lately, and this update is just another example.

  • HP Support Assistant program compatibility recognizes my phone despite several relocations

HP Support assistant suddenly stopped running my laptop HP dv6t-3100.  I reinstalled several times, and sometimes it works for a few days, then fails to identify my camera, so no loading and so useless.  MS program compatibility tool identifies it as "incompatible".  I don't understand.  My OS is Windows 7, 64-bit, home premium.  It worked well for a few years, but has now become weird.  Does anyone know what it is?  Any help would be appreciated, especially given that this laptop does not work as effectively it was.  Thank you very much.
