My Samsung G2 portable HARD drive is unreadable after the scan and fix. Help!

I am using a Samsung G2 640 GB drive external HARD USB for the archiving of digital photos and music.

My desktop computer is running that win7 Pro 32-bit. Pentium E6500, 2 GB of RAM DDR3, 640 GB SATA HARD drive.

No problem, until that the message "Analyze and difficulty" arose one day.

What do I know? Just a simple user, not a WinGuru, so I allowed him to go forward.

Now, my files, folders & the Samsung access are no longer works.

When the USB is connected, I get a prompt that indicates WHAT FORMAT is required.

Well, I'm not so distraught as to format a drive where I want to save my data, so

No FORMAT has been done on the drive.

I tried to run chkdsk from the cmd line, also without success.

When I right click on properties (the disc appears on CP) it shows

available 0 bytes and 0 used bytes.

Why, oh why Windows chooses to give me such pain.

Your drive has failed, you can try the recovery of third party software, or you can send the drive to a data recovery specialist.

Msg scan & fix meant that a problem was detected and the software was trying to fix, and obviously he couldn't

My computer crashed two weeks ago and all software had reinstalled in another HD. The first hard drive still has all the files and are readable. Where can I find the old catalog fall back all my work?

My lightroom was great before the crash to work and I have a lot of work still pending.

You will need the catalog file and all your images. If you have also stored your images on which crashed HDD you will need to copy them as well.

The default location of the LR catalog file is in your user name folder in the folder on the ROOT of the drive users

  • I want to copy all my jpg files to another directory (a portable hard drive) with some of the same names of JPGs, but not necessarily all. What will happen? The word 'COPY', will be some of the deleted files be added or nothing at all.

I have a LOT of pictures in my computer (over a thousand) and I want to put them on a portable hard drive, I bought (1 terabyte) but I won't write any of the names of existing files with different images. IS THIS POSSIBLE? Do I need software or special hardware? I tried the copy/paste standard as well as move files to the new directory, but it seems that I can lose files. I'm not sure if the files that are missing (or lack, in my opinion) are not copied. When I finished emptying the directory, it shows that it is empty but the new directory does not seem to have any additional files that should be there based on the counting of the files before and after.

1: right-click and then drag the pix on the external drive. Release the right mouse button and choose copy here. They are there?  Now remove it from the computer.

2: you can see pix of the same name overwrite each other, or be done with (1), (2), etc.. But even in this case, they will be interspersed with the former. If keep you them in separate folders with different names, that should not happen. Personally, I rename all the pix before storing them. You can select the set instead of the code of the camera and a group, rename the first holiday 2009 yo and the rest will be renamed holiday 2009 and each havf will one (1), (2), (3), after them.

It is also a nice freeware tool which, among other things, can rename a group of photos easily.

  • I installed an external USB connected hard drive Seagate, it slowed the computer and check the new disc repeatedly

    Hello

I installed an external USB connected hard drive Seagate to copy some movies and pictures of my HP laptop with Vista, but it became a big problem. It slowed the computer and check the new disc repeatedly. Then it wouldn't start without the external drive at all but it was working fine once he was conducting with the external hard drive. So thinking I can outsmart the computer, I uninstalled the drive from Control Panel. Now it primer not at all. The computer lights up briefly and then goes out of itself almost immediately, is there a solution to this? Thank you

    Original title: startup problem

    Hi SomBhattacharya,

Please try the possible fix following first thanks to Carey Frisch:

    1. open the BIOS of the motherboard.
    2. find where it says Priority Boot Device, then select CD/DVD-ROM 1, 2nd Hard Drive and disable all the rest.
3 find somewhere in the BIOS where it says BOOT USB, Wake on USB, etc. and disable all unnecessary options.

And second if it does not help, you can try the following with Blue Michael:

Local Geek Squad had me intentionally set the BIOS to the correct order, then re-order and SAVE.
It worked, even if the list of the BIOS was always in the right order.

    I hope this helps!

  • Image portable HARD drive for transfer to the new computer portable HARD drive on the same laptop

    Location:

    Laptop was to receive the new HARD drive more big;

Configuration is complex and has a lot of data and SW engineering.

Own re - install would take too long.

In operating systems earlier I just created an image, installed the new HARD disk and restored the image.

In Vista, it does not. New HARD drive with image does not start. (Partition is correctly selected as active)

Tried other methods, including Robocopy but without success.

Sysprep is the right solution? If so, how will this affect users profiles and installed applications?

    Thank you

    Paraxis

    Hi Paraxis,

Whenever we use the system image and restore from it, the hardware must be same, as has already been made to backup. The hard disk partition should also be in the same size.

You can use Sysprep on your computer and check if that helps you solve the problem.

Preparation system (Sysprep) tool is a technology that you can use with other deployment tools to install Windows on new hardware, operating systems. The Sysprep tool prepares a computer for imaging of disc or delivery to a customer of the configuration of the computer to create a new computer security identifier (SID) when the computer is restarted. In addition, the Sysprep tool cleans up user-specific and settings specific to the computer and the data that should not be copied to a destination computer.

Access the links below for more information on Sysprep.

  • Possible problem HARD drive - by clicking on the sound and the system hangs on Qosmio G30 - 116

    Hello

I just got my G30-116 return of service (replacement of the screen) and after 2 days another problem. He just continues to hang out.

I do not change a thing since I got it and now it just stop working on things sometimes like browsing the internet. It has not happened before. And my biggest concern is the trigger that made my hard drive.

What can be wrong? It not crash until I have it sent to the service, I think that my hard drive is defective... Thank you

What to say? If you can not find out why freeze the problem occurs, try to preinstall the operating system with recovery DVDs delivered.

In any case, from your description, I'm afraid there is a serious problem with HARD drive and it can be simply worse then now. Please be sure that your data is backed up.

Please contact service again and explain the situation. If the HARD drive is faulty, you will get a new, and if they have the HARD drive on stock, it can be replaced very quickly. G30 is lovely and I hope that you will be satisfied. A few days ago my friend visited me and we have tested his G30 with HD-DVD player on my LCD TV. I can tell you one thing: I am really impressed with the HD picture quality.

    Good luck!

  • How to copy data from one hard drive to another after the upgrade?

I have a HP e9220y, and I recently bought a new hard drive for it. There is nothing wrong with the former, but this one has a 64 MB cache and 7200 RPM so I hope it will be a little faster. I installed it and it works fine, but I want to copy all data from the old disk to the new so I can start everything off the faster hard drive and I seem to have a bit of doing wrong. I can't just copy and paste because of the Windows system files that are used. And last night when I set up Windows backup, and went to bed, when I thought it that Windows has recovered from a stop unexpected, rebooted, and only 2 GB of data saved obtained.

What is the best way to move all the data from the old drive to the new drive, make it the default C: drive and move partitions system and factory_image as well? Thank you!

    (1) If your old drive and the new drive is Seagate or Western Digital, then free House with their cloning software.

    (2) before starting the clone process, I found best to perform a disk cleanup and defragmentation.

Cloning software to copy the two partitions. Example:

    Old drive 250 GB formatted to 232 C: created 220 and 12 GB D:

New 1000GO drive formatted to 931 GB created 919 GB C: and D: to 12 GB

The "Seagate disc Wizard" cloning software will let create you a clone automatic or manual partition resizing.

The two modes to offer an overview of the actions before commit you. The manual on this page of Seagate (PDF) is 68 pages.

After the cloning process he complete, all you have to do is swap on the disks. Besure to connect your new disc on the original motherboard SATA port.

  • BIOS does not detect not hard drive for laptop after the setting of the default BIOS settings.

I had my 14.04 installed Ubuntu in my laptop in a reader named «Notebook hard drive» a pre-installed Windows 8. Today I put the default BIOS settings in my phone and when I rebooted it and tried to use Ubuntu by pressing 'F9' key and choosing from the menu of the BIOS I found my 'Notbook HDD"option missing. My disk of Ubuntu is still there, but I have no way to access it. Is there a way I can get it to work?

Try turning off secure in the BIOS and then start by restarting the laptop.

  • If you have two hard drives, can you wipe the second and just use it as a storage device?

If you have two HARD drives in a PC Windows 7, can you remove everything (including the System 32, Windows users, literally everything) in the second and still use his computer? All my programs on the first HDD would remain on my PC, but all the files of the second being scratched? I'm running out of space on my first HARD drive and need to know if I can keep the second as storage just pure.

    Thank you.

    Hey Elliot,

Thanks for posting your query in the Microsoft Community Forums.

According to the description, it seems that you want to delete all the data on the secondary hard drive without affecting the first hard drive operating system files.

I'll be happy to help you with this.

If the operating system (Windows 7) is installed on the first hard drive, it has nothing to do with the second hard disk. You can go ahead and delete all data without hesitation.

Note: Make sure that you remove the data from the hard drive where Windows 7 is installed.

If you want to reduce the number of unnecessary files on your hard disk to free up disk space and help your computer run faster, use disk cleanup.

For more information, see the link.

Windows has recently completed an automatic update on a Tecra S3 equipped with a 60 GB HARD drive SATA.
After the reboot required for updaates windows generates a BSOD.

I've traced the error and found that the system can not find the hard drive.
Even when I use the XP cd and restore/repair console without a hard drive is located.

When I check the BIOS hard drive is there.
I removed the hard drive and used an external case and determined that the hard drive works fine.

    Hello

    Tecra S3 supports RAID.
In order to install Win XP RAID driver is needed!

The RAID driver can be found on the European driver Toshiba page.
    It s a v 1.01.0005 for Win XP.

You can include the RAID driver using nLite. This free tool allows you to include the RAID driver in the Win XP disc.
Google for nLite for more details.

  • USB 3.0 hard drive "Unknown device" After sleeping

I have a USB 3.0 external hard drive (1.5 to) that presents itself as 'Unknown device' recovery from my computer.  If I reboot, the drive works fine.  It occurs only after my computer goes to sleep.  I might just disable the sleep turn off hard disks, but I want to sleep/off hard drives can add some life to them and save me some powers.  I use Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit).  Also, I have my power settings so that my hard drives turn off after 45 minutes and my computer sleeps after 1 hour.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

I think that editing the registry in the AdditionalCriticalWorkerThreads string may have worked.  I didn't have any problems today, but I'll keep testing to make sure.

    Thanks for the help.
  • Portable hard drive does not

I have Transcend 1 TB portable hard drive for 2 years and for the last few days it does not work in any computer. whenever I plug computer detects the drive but it says: "you must format the disk in drive F until you can use it" and "F: is not accessible. Data error (cycle redundancy check). and when I try to remove it safely it says "Problem eject the storage device" but it works quite well when I plug my SAMSUNG TV .

We can do the following to see if you can again access your external hard drive:

    • First of all, you can connect your external hard drive to your computer and launch an anti-virus on it. This could help you and check if the problem of the error you are getting is due to a virus or malware on the external hard drive.
    • If the antivirus scan does not work, you can check your hard drive for errors:
    1. You can type run in the Start menu, and select it.
    2. -Type CMD , and then press ENTER.
    3. -Type chkdsk o:/f check the letter of the hard disk external hard drive is connected, in the command prompt window, you can change the letter to the correct. Then click on the button enter.
    4. -Press Enter key and it should begin to repair damaged files that might have caused the error, you should see some of your names in files before finally, it asks if you want to save the channels lost in another location. Click Yes.

If you can normally process, you can try to read your external hard drive, once you restarted your computer. Please note that the process can take a long and patience will be required on this.

Let us know how it goes.
