My saved passwords keep disappearing.

My saved passwords keep disappearing. It happened yesterday - I thought that I had deleted accidentally. I have restored my trousseau of a week ago and re-enter them. Then this morning it happened again - all my passwords that are gone. Don't know if this is related to the implementation of iCloud a week ago or something else.

Do you use iCloud keychain?

Do you hear the names and passwords in the password manager or do you mean that you are connected is no longer on to (remember to) Web sites after the closing and restarting Firefox?

There is a difference between remembering the name and the password in the password manager and a check box "remember me" on a web page.

The latter usually involves the creation of a special "remember me" cookie that is stored on your computer and which is sent to the server.

If that "remember me" cookie is deleted or is corrupted or is not send to the server, then the server remember that you and you must connect once again.

    • reset the signon.importedFromSqlite pref on the topic: config page by default via the context menu

When you restart Firefox, then you should have the pref signon.importedFromSqlite with the value set to true and you should have the passwords into password manager, unless he could have errors.

  • Saved password may be in alphabetical order

    Hello

I am a member of the Tagged site and play pets and have about 75 profiles. Is there anyway that Firefox can alphabetize the?

When watching one of your saved passwords put the domain name in the search field at top to see passwords only for this area. Then click on the username field header, so it is highlighted, to make an alphanumeric sort of name user. works even with the password field. By clicking on the header field again highlighted and it will alternate between sorting and 'high' kind 'down'.

Unfortunately, this is only a kind of temporary. It will disappear when the cover is closed. You could look for an add-on with a feature like this, but I have never seen one. The window of passwords saved by default to display in the field with an esoteric sort of alphanumeric order separated by a colon and the slashes; sort order is numerical followed by alpha and you consider it difficult to see the model of how he made the "sort".

  • New version lost all my saved passwords and not save everything - I tried help

Earlier versions of registered FF going on very well, but for the two latest updates that the function has stopped working. I tried the steps in the FAQ "passwords not saved", even changed my story custom to always save settings. I don't care. Don't make passwords or even asking me. All passwords that had been in my profile for the last two years are no longer visible in the window of the options "show saved". Should I uninstall Firefox and start over?

    Jay

The extension 'Remember password' has been reported to cause problems with passwords disappears, so if you have this extension and then remove (uninstall) it.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe

Make sure that you are not Firefox running in permanent private browsing mode (don't remember history).

    • Tools > Options > privacy > Firefox will be: "use the custom settings for history".
    • : Uncheck the [] "always use the private browsing mode.

It is possible that there is a problem with signons3.txt (encryption key) and logins.json (encrypted names and passwords) in Firefox.
You can open the logins.json file in Notepad (Firefox/tools > Web Developer) to check its content.
Click on the button to "Pretty Print" to fit the file for readability.
If there are names and passwords encrypted in logins.json there is probably a problem with the signons3.txt file that stores the encryption key.
You can rename the file signons3.txt (key3.db.old) and the logins.json (logins.json.old) file or move these files to another folder to make it possible to cancel the action.

Rename or delete a file of possible signons.sqlite (signons.sqlite.old) used by older versions of Firefox as well.
You must define a new master password after renaming or removing the signons3.txt and all the currently saved passwords are lost.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

  • Saved passwords do not work after the automatic update

Firefox Auto-setting to update itself on a windows 8.1 machine 35.0. But none of the saved passwords work, I see all the passwords in options-> Security-> saved passwords, but when I go on a website he fills the username, but does not have the password. If I manually enter the password that it does not offer to 'save' (so of course that he knows it's a password for this site)

    Very annoying.

Should I just back up and reinstall 35.0 from scratch?

I keep backups separated from all my files so I was able to restore passwords support. Apparently during the auto-update feature that something has been corrupted into logins.json or keys3.db cause no amount of re - install firefox on the existing files worked.

  • How to erase all my saved passwords or password work?

I've been using saved passwords and am now trying to get the password to warn me before she logs in any site. It does not work so I want to just erase all my saved passwords if this is my only option.

It could happen to be a long story, but...

Most of the sites will keep you connected using a cookie. These cookies can be persistent and be valid for months, they expire at the end of your session or they can be for some specific time. Each site will be a little different, based on their balance of comfort and security.

Logging in manually on a site either clears the cookie, or invalidate the session on the server so that the cookie is no longer bound to a live session upwards, or both.

When you have a cookie that the server still accepts, the site usually does not display the login page, your stored password is never used.

If you want cookies only to be valid for the current session of Firefox, you can change your settings in the Options/preferences dialog box.

button '3-bar' menu > Options / Preferences > Privacy panel

If the selector says "conservation rules: don't forget history" change to "use the custom settings for history". Then, under 'Accept cookies' change the "keep until" affecting "closing of Firefox".

That will not affect the cookies set at present, but in the future, when a site sets a cookie, unless you create an exception specific to the site, it is empty when you exit Firefox.

There is an exception to the general rule: Firefox stores crash data recovery for your windows open and the legs, and keep the session cookies in this file in case restore you your previous session. (For secure sites (HTTPS), cookies are used only in a failback, not a manual restore in the menu background.)

In any case, it is preferable to log out of sensitive sites manually to be sure that nobody can return to these sites.

  • Since the upgrade to 5.0, my saved passwords do not work anymore - when I re - start, the check box for the saved passwords is unchecked.

If I check the box 'Save password', when I stop and restart, the check mark disappears and the saved passwords no longer work. I have to check the box again after every start. Passwords are not lost: they simply do not work.

Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions of the origin of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > appearance/themes).

  • Do I lose my saved passwords if I update to 4.0?

I want to switch to Firefox 4.0, but I don't want to lose the passwords that saved my current version (3.0.13). It will be a problem if I upgraded, or 4.0 will keep my previously saved passwords?

You shouldn't lose your passwords when upgrading to Firefox 4.0, but you 're "ignoring" 3.5 and 3.6, so you must back up your Firefox Profile just-in-case set. Version for the next updates of version present any number of problems, but jump on two main versions can sometimes cause data loss.
