I am running Vista Home Premium on a laptop Compaq Presario F700. It is listed in the list of computers of readers, it is listed in Device Manager. The lites drive that the computer boots so I know it is detected. When you run itunes or media player the player does not open. When I push the drive button it will not open. It opens with a paperclip in the exit hole. It cannot read a CD or a DVD. None of the media players even recognize there is a disc in the drive. I tried to run fixit, but it would not drive either. I tried restoring from a previous backup, without change.
Check / settings (BIOS/CMOS) often F2 so watch the screen as it starts - place CD/DVD
1st in the boot order (remember to put it at the time where the fact).
Then put in a DVD to boot Windows and see if the driver works.
If it doesn't then it's a hardware problem.
If the drive has worked in the test above, that these can help:
Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.
Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.
Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD

do it right.

my laptop has no sound, it says no audio installed and the speaker symbol has a red cross on it. I tired all help but nothings worked, and the thing to fix auto could not fix. The Device Manager there is not even a sound, video, game controller section. Sometimes when I put into hibernation and back on I have sound and everything works fine (except when I run itunes and it stops again), but I say that I have no audio device again to restart the laptop. I have the vista updates this. All ideas
I had the same problem with my Compaq F700 series laptop. His was a work day and does not not the other. I couldn't use most of the patches because they need to have the tab of sound, video, game available and also lacked this tab.I tried to do system restore and rolling it back, but the problem has not been resolved. What finally worked was restoring the system to a MUCH earlier date, as one month before the problem. When finished restoring the sound was still not fixed. HOWEVER, the computer OS (WINDOWS 7) necessary to re - install a bunch of updates and after the updates have been installed, everything worked. I suspect that the original problem was a bad update (I.e. has not installed correctly) and one to ride the system goes back to a time before the bad update and then re-installing the update was the fix. That said, if the restore option does not or cannot be I would try searching through the Add/Remove programs in the control panel to uninstall the updates of the system, and then restart the computer and let updated them, re - install.Good luck
Hello, I have a desktop PC and a laptop (DELL Inspiron N-4050).
I have problem with my internet connection cable which is working fine on my PC, but does not not on my laptop giving an error "no access to the network.
When I troubleshoot it says "your computer seems to be correctly configured but the device or resource (DNS SERVER) is not responding."
I said to many technicians of microsoft online response, but they could not solve my problem and said this is my DNS problem and advised me to contact my Internet service provider. Guess it's because of my internet so why it works on my PC not on laptop?
Yesterday, my ethernet cable pulled out my cell phone and I couldn't connect to the internet more. But on my desktop PC, it works perfectly fine. (I do not use wifi, if this information is also required) I have studied several threads with similar situations, and I have tried different methods to solve the problem to no avail. I did a system restore, but I'm having no luck. Also, I did not of the latest changes with my anti virus software and my LAN card drivers look to date.
When I remove my cable from the laptop and again connect my cable then it works but only after the PC sat for awhile.
1.I did flush DNS by typing "ipconfig/flushdns" in the command prompt.
2. my IP address, DNS, subnet mask etc are set to automatic.
3.I also added physical address taken from command line giving "ipconfig/all". for the properties of the network driver settings.
4.I ' installed the drivers to date of 2014 on my laptop.
5.I did a lot of searching the web, but they do not solve my problem.
Please help me to solve it.
I appreciate your help.
Please keep us updated on the status of the issue.
I suggest you to follow the steps in this Microsoft article troubleshooting and check if it helps:

I recently installed a USB3.0 PCI-E card in my computer (Renesas uPD720200 USB3). The problem I have is that the host controller keeps endangered since the Device Manager, and then I can't use the USB ports. I use Windows 7 64-bit. It disappears usually when I stopped for an evening and then start up the next day and he disappeared. If I just have it reboot normally disappears, but sometimes remains. If I leave the computer and let it go to sleep, when I wake up, the host controller has disappeared. I tried some troubleshooting steps are based on research on google and the answers to this question: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/renesas-usb-30-driver-continuous-uninstalls-from/ac6b1137-1778-e011-8dfc-68b599b31bf5?auth=1&page=2If I uninstall all controllers USB host and reboot, the host controller reappears, but only temporarily. The next time I start up it went again and I have to repeat the process (uninstall all host controllers and restart).Once or twice I could make it reappear after running the utility of hardware troubleshooting (Panel-> Troubleshooting-> Hardware and Sound-> configure a device), but it is not reliable and I'm usually better off just uninstall all host controllers and reboot. Regardless of if it works, the store always gives me the message "hardware changes may not have been detected", and when I look at the details it says "configured to never install drivers from Windows Update. " There is no question."I've updated the driver. I downloaded the Version 188.8.131.52 of the Intel Download Center (http://downloadcenter.intel.com/confirm.aspx?httpDown=http://downloadmirror.intel.com/19880/eng/USB3.0_allOS_184.108.40.206_PV.exe&lang=eng&Dwnldid=19880). It seemed to install fine, but Device Manager shows the driver version is 220.127.116.11. Repeat the installation produces the same result.I updated the Firmware (http://www.station-drivers.com/page/renesas.htm) and that seems to work very well, but didn't had no bearing on my problem.I would be really grateful for any help or suggestion.
Adding to the valuable suggestion of Josh-H, I also suggest you to run the FIXIT and check.
Hardware devices do not work or are not detected in Windows
DVD drive icon disappeared from the Device Manager and my computer. I m using window 7. How can I get it back.
Thanks for posting on Microsoft Community.
There are various reasons why a CD or DVD drive may not be detected. I would like to ask all of the steps in the Microsoft Article describes a troubleshooting and check if they help to resolve the issue.
Before editing a registry key or subkey, we recommend that you export, or make a backup copy of the key or the subkey. You can save the backup copy to a location that you specify, for example, a folder on your hard drive or a removable storage device. If you make changes that you want to cancel, you can import the backup copy. For more information about backing up the registry, please see the link below.
Hope that advice is useful. Let us know the State of the question, so that we can guide you further.
I have a very serious problem about Bluetooth. And it's really frustrating. I don't know exactly what the problem with it, but my problem is as follows
When I connect my mobile phone via Bluetooth for laptop (win 7 ultimate), my system shows the connection. Also, I see my mobile phone listed in the device window. Earlier, when I brought the computer laptop, everything seemed good, at this time, when I use it to open the device (IE to control ); a window would show the option for playing music (there was a lot of option as a 1 ' headset and speaker") and other services supported by the device. but now, suddenly somehow window appears but with in a 2 sec to disappear again. Whenever I try to open the device I get this error. I must say that it is very very frustrating as you try to move your cursor to click on audio playback on this portable display option, the window disappears. Help, please. Now, let me tell you what I tried to solve this problem.
I have laptop Lenovo, which has something like that for bluetooth
Broadcom Bluetooth 4.0 USB
Microsoft Bluetooth enumerator. I have 32 bits of the system, processor i3, win 7 ultimate, one port wifi
In the center of troubleshooting, I tried for the material of scanning that show this Bluetooth device driver not installed (I could see a yellow mark on this device in the Device Manager and a code 28 error).
But windows cannot fix it. I have tried multiple devices but nothing turned up. also I tried the same devices on different laptops and all of them worked very well. I checked online trouble - shooting.but not very useful. Please don't tell me about recovery. I don't know when it happened.
Please help me. Please give me link if there is no download needed

I'm new to this forum and I wonder if anyone can help? I have a Satellite installed 30-106 M which has the above CD. At present, it does not work when I go to Device Manager, the error massage that I have is that follow 'Windows cannot initialize the device of this hardware driver. (Code 37) ».
Can someone offer me some advice please.
I studied in the Microsoft Knowledge base, and it seems that this error is displayed because the driver returned error in her routine to the driver entry.
I think that you need to uninstall the driver, and then click find the hardware changes to reinstall or upgrade the driver.
You can do it in Device Manager. Otherwise, you can remove the drive in the Device Manager list and after restart of the new mobile operating system should recognize the drive again.
After this procedure, you should test the device if it will work.
I have a toshiba satellite L40-139 and I just instaled windows 7 64 bit on it. Since that time my atheros wireless device will not work. I tried updating the driver and windows but nothing.
In the device manager says code 10 DEVICE can NOT START.
If you read here:
The Code 10 error code is generated when the Device Manager has not enough information or error that spread upwards by device drivers is not recognized by Device Manager.
Then, go to the page of the driver and update the driver. If you do not have to win 7, try the vista driver.
Under Xp (sp3), Device Manager gives me an error for a Walkman NWZ-S545. XP sees it as a MTP device, but it does not start. The Device Manager will give me 2 error messages: device will not start (code 10) not and no driver not found for this device. The walkman works very well with my other machines on the LAN XP but naturally one that I run my media (a all my MP3 etc.) is the one that has the error. All of my PC are almost identical (with the exception of the server, duh). I changed USB ports, uninstalled/reinstalled drivers, called SONY to dozens of times, nothing works. Is a service not started that must be, a driver damaged, what? Thanks for your help in advance.
I suggest you run the fix that is present in the link below then connect the Walkman on the system and see if the problem is resolved.
Description of errors related to the 10 Code that generates the Device Manager in Windows on computers
I suggest to uninstall the drivers and firmware for the walkman of the system then download it from the Sony site and install it on the system and check if the problem is resolved.
Thanks and regards.

My computer is no longer automatically recognizes all the devices inserted into readers, like a CD or SD card photo. Recently I bought a micro sd card for my phone, but when I insert in the USB port, it recognizes that no more. How to do that everything works again. I have XP Service Pack 2Hi Danny Bralski,-Did you change on your computer before this problem?Follow the steps listed in the order.
Method 1: Check if the USB port is defective.
If you connect a USB device to a defective port, the device will not work. Try connecting the device to a different port. If all USB ports are in use, disconnect one of the other devices and plug the problematic device into that port.
Method 2: Check if there is a problem with the device.
If you have another computer that is working properly, plug this computer to see if you encounter the same problem. If you have the same problem, there could be a problem with the unit.
If you believe that your device is defective, contact the manufacturer.
Method 3: Run the troubleshooter from the link given below:
my computer does not recognize the Device Manager cd/dvd/rom drive says corrupted or missing code 39
Try following the steps under "Windows 7 or Windows Vista" in the MS KB article:
These measures, to remove the UpperFilters and LowerFilters, values if they exist, in the registry key named can help.
Create a System Restore Point beforehand and restart the computer later.
