My service provider broadband (Talk Talk UK) hijacked my keyword.url remotely

Today, when I entered an incorrect text string in the address bar, I was redirected to a page set by my broadband (Talk Talk UK) service provider with links sponsored of suggestions.

I should be redirected to a Google search page as my setting keyword.url is http://www.google.com/search?q=.

Keyword.url value showed still like Google, even if I was now redirected to a pub to Talk Talk.

This is apparently the Talk Talk Service error replacement & to 'opt-out', I had to restart my router.

My concern is that I don't think that this service has been installed through my Mozilla I'm quite fussy about scripts and cookies and you have not installed all the software of Talk Talk, AFAIK.

In addition, the value for keyword.url Mozilla always showed as "Google".

Finally, the fact that I had to reboot my router to choose his fish too.

I am extremely suspicious that Talk Talk have changed my settings for browser without my permission/knowledge.

This happens only now that the page has always redirected to Google before and I've been with Talk Talk for centuries.

Wouldn't think of that this company was involved with our Mozilla.

When you enter a single word in the address bar and press ENTER, Firefox can 'try' a standard fix - up such as:

www. yourword + .com

If it does not exist, your ISP can intercept the request and return a search page.

However, I think that Firefox should use the keyword. URL for all multiple word strings, because they are obviously not legal domain names, unless something has changed.

Can you confirm that the feature is enabled?

(1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

(2) in the filter box, type or paste the keywords and make a pause so that the list is filtered

(3) If keyword.enabled is false, double-click it to reset to true.

If this is already the case, hmmm, strange... you have bars of tools or other add-ons that might replace the built-in functionality?

  • Change of service provider to connect to Broadband Mobile for Lenovo SL300?

    Hello

I live in Sweden and I have a SL300 that prepackaged Telenor as a technology services provider integrated mobile broadband. I now want to change the service provider, but I can´t find anywhere to do this? The SL300 has a SIM card? Where?

    Grateful for your suggestions!

    Thank you

    Anders

    Hi again,

Yes, I was finally able to find where the SIM card and change it to another operator. You must open the cover of memory, slot located on the front of the laptop when you delivered the computer. Then it s easy to replace!

    Good luck!

You could shop around for a cheaper company, but you MUST have some ISP.
ISP is synonymous of... of internet service provider. Of course, you can not connect to internet without ISP. For the benefits of others looking for answers, please mark as answer suggestion if it solves your problem.

  • I received a call from a woman said that she was with the ICC with Windows service provider and that they were getting the error messages from my computer

    * Original title: scam or not

I received a call from a woman saying that she was with the ICC with Windows service provider and they received my computer error messages and I wouldn't be able to help me solve it.  I asked for a number of 800-373-4609 because he came unknown on my phone.

I wanted to open my computer.  I told her I would call her back.

    Is it a scam?

    (Moved from P & M)

Yes, it's a scam. When someone calls and says they need to talk to you about 'mistakes' in your computer, simply hang up.  I just had one of these calls myself about 15 minutes ago.

  • Meter service provider Internet uage works continuously with or without downloading or even navigation

I opened internet via dialer of the service provider. The Dialer consists of a software counter to measure my actual consumption, NAVIGATION, DOWNLOADS etc.  But the count starts when I run internet. The counter should be reset until I have start the download. What the intense WATCH ACTUALLY NOW IS fake job counter without me actually download or perform any work involving all the bytes. The service provider is not responded to my mail. I lose about 500 MB. I don't know if someone could steal my space.

    I have broad BAND NETCONNECT + 2 G Modem.

I asked experts to suggest a work around for this problem of mine.

    Mengual

Just in case, because I'm on a package of mobile broadband with 5 GB per month with a speed of modem after I spent those 5 GB.  With a new Internet connection several applications on my box will try to "phone home" consume some bandwidth:

BIT (windows update) looking for new updates, MSE (anti-virus) seeks new AV signatures, SkyDrive checks if there's something to do, Chrome (browser) checks to see if it or one of its modules requires an upate, for example, an AD-blocker gets fresh red lists, a DYN registered customer my dynamic IP, and so on.
If you are curious what exactly happens while you're doing apparently nothing you can use Sysinternals TcpView.
  • Cannot receive emails from Internet service provider. knows how much is new, don't download, since 03/14/14. Why?

CT 24.3.0. Win 7 home premium, 32-bit. automatic updates on. TB has worked perfect since install. After his return from weekend, could not receive emails. TB is connecting to the Internet service provider, it is 1 of n messages; turns-progress bar green, doing nothing. I can use the web mail from the ISP program to receive emails. What has changed.

Tour of e-mail scanning in your anti virus program and try again. If you ever feel the urge to start an email with the word 'suddenly' problem that is almost always anti virus program, unless the service is actually down with the mail provider.

I feel a bit like Miss Marple, saying that the Butler did it when I answer the latter, but no where near as smart.

I have to cancel my account of temporary internet service provider due to lack of funds, I lose my settings/bookmarks of Firefox when I reactivate my internet account?

Settings/bookmarks of Firefox are stored in the profile on your computer folder. They will not be lost when you cancel your account with your internet service provider. They will be available when you reactivate your account, or if you switch to another internet provider.

  • How can I use my iphone without a mobile phone service provider?

I have an iphone 4S that I would like to use with my games and apps on wifi, but don't need a phone number, e-mail or facetime. If I do not need a mobile phone service provider. How do I set it up to just use WiFi?

You must have a SIM card installed. It doesn't have to be linked to an active line of service, but it must be present, and if the phone is locked, it must be the correct carrier.

  • Help please I'm trying to set up my microsoft exchange e-mail account, but it requires a password for my internet service provider. I don't have one. How can I solve this problem?

Where do you find a password for the internet service provider? First of all, I never heard of him, what is it?  When they hung my internet, nothing has been said to need a password. Help, please?

    Hi Sherry,

Contact the technical assistance service from your ISP for help with your account – including the password (which, although I suppose that it is possible (if intentionally the value no password which is incredibly dangerous if they would even which allowed), is incredibly little likely, there isn't - although the installation program can do such that the need to seize every time has been bypassed and this way you apparently).

If this isn't a problem with your ISP or ISP password, then it probably has something to do with the Exchange Server Setup program.  I'm not sure what exactly that you try to configure - an Exchange Server account, or an account customer to remote Exchange, hosting of your email server.  If the question relates to Exchange Server, please see the forum for assistance: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/exchangeserver.

But the first place to start is your ISP because no matter the issues by e-mail, you need to know or may need to know your password.

    Good luck!

  • plugged not elitepad load - need for a service provider

I do not have an answer to my question on why the Elitepad shows "plugged in, does not support" when the battery is low in the range of 12 to 30%.  That is not anywhere close to full.

I am currently in Italy.  When I go to authorized service providers and tell the page I'm in Italy, the page is immediately translated into Italian.   This isn't a matter of HP, a lot of websites do.  Just because I'm in Italy does not mean that I can speak Italian!  (this really irritates me no end, but like I said it is not a problem exclusive to HP)

How can I find someone to fix my tablet in Rome when I can't go past the first page?  I am currently in Sicily and the HP Tablet is rare here.  I took it to a major electronics company to see if they could repair and missed everything that generated all the staff to watch and they really had no idea.

How can I get the service provider page to show me Italian addresses BUT remain in English.  This load problem must be fixed before that I can use the Tablet and its been hanging out for months.

    Thank you

    Hoges

    Thanks for this info.

The battery itself is not the problem, that is the connection.  I bought the device as a device ex-proof from a HP reseller in Sydney, Australia.  I think that he had been charged and unplugged 364 times to connect is not rock solid.

I don't know if I mentioned earlier somewhere but I live on a yacht and sat down in the Mediterranean at this time, a long way from the Australia.  On the suggestion of the expedition:-we have friends come to visit on or around July 8 at Porto Turistico di Roma.  If I can't find the HP repair guy at Roma, I will get my friends to take it back to Oz for repair.  There is a warranty on it but is not the main problem, is access to just one competent (read:-approved) repairman.

We have plenty of processing power with two laptop computers from Toshiba, an iPad2 and a Samsung Galaxy Tab2 as well as a new iPhone6 is not a major negative point.  However, because I live on my boat, I get all my magazines via Zinio and the HP is dedicated to my collection of magazines, more some windows games and the ability to deal with MS Office, when we are out of the boat.

So it is not essential, but it is desirable that I get, it works well again.

Again, thank you for your help.  It makes a difference.

PS when I withdrew my Bank was happy to see me go because I was a firm believer in the quick kick, which is apparently in disgrace in these modern times.

  • HP Photosmart B110: B110 does print wireless more after the passage of internet service provider

    Hello

I have a photosmart b110 and always used printer wireless with no problems.

I use a laptop HP G62, windows 7 Home premium and as I said, never had any problems with my printer before (and goes through all the printing test pages, is anything wrong with that).

A week ago I changed my (internet) providers, and since there are problems:

But on the HP Networkconfigurationpage prints, the printer gives all the correct information (networkname etc.), it does not react to print from the laptop orders more.

Well, it does work once after the problem started and well after that I have installed on the pc (using "add new printer")

However, the next day, after having restarted the laptop, the connection was working no more.

So far, I called the service provider 3 times (in order to get different people) and heard 'Sorry, no idea' twice and "If you don't have internet, it must be the fault of the printer.

Can someone please give me an idea about where to look?

The last provider had a cable connection, this one is by telephone line, could that be a reason? And if so, why? And how can I solve this problem?

So, I hope that someone can offer some suggestion help! :-)

Reset the printer to the network settings.   Then...

Replacement/change your wireless router try here.

    http://www.HP.com/global/au/en/wireless/reconfiguring-system-Help3.html

However, if you have a gateway device, all devices in gateway (modem + router) are terrible for connectivity and wireless performance.   If this does not work, suggest you put this bridge in full bridge mode device and install your own router of high quality that YOU have full control over.
