My video files do not automatically create Thumbnail Images

How can I get my files video back to generate thumbnail images? At the moment only my MKV files are generating of thumbnails, but regarding my AVI, MP4 files, WMV and other files like those, they are just showing the default image of windows media database. And also is it possible to do it without using a third-party codec pack because I think that's the reason why it happened in the first place, I've been using Divx 7 for Windows.

Hi Bryshon89,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

Go to Windows Explorer and the menu bar, click Tools and then click folder options.

Click the view tab and make sure that the option "Always show icons, never thumbnails" is unchecked.

You can also try to create a new user account and check.

To do this, please go to Control Panel -> view by: category -> Add or remove user accounts -> create a new account. Please see if the problem occurs in this user account. If this isn't the case, we may transfer personal files to this account to solve the problem.

If it works in a new user account, then you will need to fix the corrupted user profile. You can visit this link for the steps:

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/fix-a-corrupted-user-profile

To generate thumbnails of your media, you can also download and install a third-party codec pack on your computer. Search using your search engine preferred for more information.

NOTE: Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be resolved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

Kind regards
Amal-Microsoft Support.

  • Error message - browseui.dll file is not a valid Windows image in the Windows XP computer.

Original title: how to fix browseui.dll without original windows disc?

    Hello

    Well, kids, here's the deal.

I myself locked out of my computer and installed PC login now erase my passwords. It has worked flawlessly, and I now have my computer back after months and months.

There was only a single small strangeness: whenever I connected my computer, he asked me to check my drive. Looking forward to get my computer and running and customized how I like it, I bypassed it the first few times. Then, when I had a few minutes, I thought I had better let the disk check, so I left it.

NOW, when I turn on my computer, I get an error message that my browseui.dll file is not a valid windows image and my windows Explorer does not work. So I've been doing on the web looking for a solution via the Task Manager, which is a pain. Someone suggested to use the scannow in the command prompt command line, so I tried, but it requires my disk of windows XP which I think can be in a different State with my mother.  So I simply bypassed it whenever he had the drive and VOILA! all peachy.

Until, that is, I turn on my computer again. We're back in the same place.  Well, this analysis running and without going through the disc each time took me about an hour, and I can't do that whenever I need to use my computer.

I tried the system restore, no change. I tried from the command prompt and choose a date AND choose "last good configuration" in the menu f12 or f8.  Without peanut.

    We are this:

    1. is there a way to correct this file without the disc?

    2. can I get another copy of the disk without having to buy it?

    3. Although I'm not PARTICULALRY, would be the Windows 7 upgrade solves the problem? (But I really like my XP...)

If the c:\windows\system32\browseui.dll file is damaged or missing, Explorer.exe does not start and you may see a message like this:

If the c:\windows\system32\browseui.dll file is corrupted, Explorer.exe does not start and you will see a message like this:

    Explorer.exe - bad Image
The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\BROWSEUI.dll is not a valid Windows image.  Please check this against your installation diskette.

You can click OK and get to an empty office with only your display background image but still be able to maneuver with the Task Manager.

If missing the c:\windows\system32\browseui.dll file, Explorer.exe does not start and you will see a message like this:

Explorer.EXE - unable to locate component: this application has failed to start because BROWSEUI.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

You can click OK and get to an empty office with only your display background image but still be able to maneuver with the Task Manager.

Since we know that XP keeps copies of critical system files in the dllcache folder, you can use the Task Manager to replace the file missing or distressed.

From the Task Manager, click file, new task (run...) and then click Browse and navigate to the c:\windows\system32\dllcache folder.  Make sure the "Files of type" box is set to show all files (or you will not see any), and then click OK to display all files.

Locate the copy of the browseui.dll file backup in the folder c:\windows\system32\dllcache, made right click and copy and go back up a folder c:\windows\system32, right-click in an empty area and paste the file there.  Answered in the affirmative if invited to replace the existing file.

You can then start the Explorer in Task Manager by clicking file, new task (run...) and in the "Open:", enter:

    Explorer.exe

Click OK to launch the Explorer and your office must return.

Or after replacing the file missing or suspicious, just restart the system task manager by clicking on stop and choosing restart and then Explorer will start to him only when the system is restarted.

If your computer to check your drive at every reboot, which means the "dirty bit" on the volume was probably settled and the only way to clear the dirty bit must run a chkdsk/r (which XP trying to do).   The dirty bit can be defined on a volume if there is a power interruption e.g. (plug pulling, using the power button / stop, etc.).

Sometimes, XP can't erase the bit of impurity in this way and it is preferable to run chkdsk/r from the XP Recovery Console so you can actually see what he does and run it again if necessary.

If you do not have any bootable media XP start in the XP Recovery Console, you can create a bootable XP (no XP media required) Recovery Console CD and do all your work from there.

You can even replace the file browseui.dll from SP Recovery Console if it is your desire.

Need instructions to create a CD of bootable XP Recovery Console?  No Microsoft Support Engineer seems to know how to do this, but I do and will instruct you in the next reply.

  • (Answered) Some of my video files do not play

I think that those who do not play is mainly reviews Xvid and DivX, although there may be other formats that do not work, I'm not sure. WMVs seem to work correctly, like MPEG2 mpegs.

When I run one of the videos non-working through the G-SPOT, I get the following error message:

(CBC)-"-(A)--> [AVI Splitter] >-(B)--> [Mpeg4s Decoder DMO] >-(C)--> [Microsoft MPEG - 2 Video encoding] >-(D)--> [Microsoft DTV - DVD Video Decoder] >-(E)--> [VFW:Intel IYUV] codec >-(F)--> [Video Renderer]

Cannot create filter Mpeg4s Decoder DMO DMO instance. Error: 0 x 80004002: [unknown]

When the PC is new, he has played these files correctly. And no, I'm not clear when this fault is developed, so I can not attach to a particular event. I have Norton installed on my computer, that I keep updated and I regularly run full crawls of my computer, so I'm confident that is not the work of a virus.

I tried to keep it as intact as possible. This means that I have not installed any 3rd party codecs or media players. The only exception to this is that I have installed iTunes and Quicktime. But for all the rest, I use Windows Media Player, exactly as it came. I like to keep my PC as free of conflict as possible, so I prefer not to install the 3rd party players and the codec packs. Windows Media Player has worked fine before, and I want to restore it to its original state of work. Can someone help me please?

    Things I've tried:

Microsoft Fix - it tools for:

"Playing video files crashes or hangs Internet Explorer" (Repairer of codec)

"Fix Windows Media Player videos and other media or library questions" (Media Player repair)

    * Disable Media Player & Media Center "Control Panel-> programs and features & -> turn Windows features on or off", restart, then by reactivating the again.

There has been problems with some files in multiple media that are not listed in this KB

  • 14 GB of video files do not fit on a 25 GB Bluray

    Hello

Maybe I'm missing a fundamental understanding of how works yet, but I am confused as to why my two timelines with 14 GB of sequences fulfill a 25 gb Bluray Disc. The film has been exported as a h.264 720 p preset Vimeo first off. I put a chapter marker every 10 minutes throughout one of the deadlines which represents a total of 6 hours. The other scenario is short (11 min) with some chapter markers. My export quality setting are the screenshot in the attached picture and you can see in the attached picture I did everything on the disc (which in the past has produced messed up of disk images). Any help much appreciated!

    Screen Shot 2014-08-20 at 9.13.53 PM.pngScreen Shot 2014-08-20 at 9.14.05 PM.png

The size of your raw image files have absolutely no connection with what will be the size of the file when you create a Blu - ray or DVD. It is important to understand that. Raw footage is available in countless compressed, with different or same not compressed. BD and DVD are compressed using some specific formats and parameters that meet the official specification for BD or DVD.

Then, there is no sense export first which is NOT already compatible DVD or BD, since any media imported yet, this not is not BD or DVD ready will be simply transcoded (re-encoded again) anyway. Then do not use Vimeo. You are then compress twice and lose a lot of quality, without forgetting to do twice the time of rendering.

So, first, export using a good Blu - ray H.264 or MPEG-2 codec that won't require transcoding in Encore. H.264 is better because it is a more advanced codec, offering better quality than MPEG-2 at lower bitrates. This means you can fit more video on the BD while maintaining quality.

Here's the thing, though - you know what BITRATE to use for media will be fit on the disc, otherwise you're back to still need to transcode the footage again to make it go. Understand bitrate, you need a bitrate calculator such as DVD - HQ: Bitrate & GOP calculator

It is important that you understand what each of the parameters in the calculator don't - wrong settings will not provide the size of the files you want and then we're back to square one. Take your time to properly set up the calculator. Expect to get 2-3 hours or more HD on a 25 GB BD. 5-6 hours, likely not.

Oh and what active creation appropriate reminder, you do not need to play with the default settings for transcoding in Encore. Leave them alone and import assets in line and everything is good to go next, assuming that you have calculated your assets to fit correctly (note that could create a DVD or BD export preset in first/SOUL without compression audio .wav - by default, yet will convert the much smaller format Dolby AC3, if initially you think so that the audio and video files of HANDSETS will be too much for the drive remember that audio will be be shrunk) low a lot before burning).

Hope this helps to put things in perspective

    Thank you

  • MP4 video files do not appear in Windows Media Player 12

Hi, I have Windows 7 64 bit and WMP version 12.0.7600.16667

I have several .mp4 video files in the folder my videos that do not appear in the video library (other type .avi files). I want to listen to these files on my Sony Playstation so I did already a lot of googling but could not find a solution. From what I checked on my system, I already have a codec and if I click on a such file in play in WMP.

Can I do to solve this problem? Thank you.

I don't know if it has changed since Vista but Mp4 video was not a video file type recognized, so a registry change has been necessary to make it usable as MS file formats AVI or WMV etc... MS has (yet?) Default identified it as an audio file format. MP4 is in fact also a video container type of file, such as AVI. You need a separator of suitable as well as audio and video CODECs on the system file.

The instructions for the installation of ffdshow and Haali splitter should work:

    http://www.Afterdawn.com/guides/archive/how_to_play_mp4_files.cfm

It is essentially the same thing that I've done and MP4 files appear in my video library WMP.

  • PP CS 2015: Take clips of large video files but NOT import / full compliant video.

    Hello

IM on PC Adobe first Pro CC 2015 and have a question I was not able to find a solution to (or find someone with a similar question, even though I know there must be a common problem).

I have several clips from 3 to 5 hours (10-20 GB each), I need to recover one or two clips of 5 minutes, and then to use in a project PP.

How can I draw or import only the blocks of 5 minutes of video of these great clips, without having to import or to comply with the full clip of 5 hours?

Another way to state this question (with examples of time code):

That is to say, I have a 5hourVideo.avi of 14 GB I need to extract only 3 h 42 m 3 h 38 m and use this clip in my project PP.  Currently, I have to import (or drag in my bin of media / media browser) all 5 hours, 14 GB of video, then slice my clip.  When I do this PP starts in accordance with the full video of 14 GB (as it should), is their a way to import only the 3 h 42 m 3 h 38 m so the entire file is not consistent?  (I do this same function to several clips video .avi to 5 hours).

    Thank you!

    Hi James,

Use Adobe prelude. See the function partial ingest . It is necessary to transcode these files, however. I suggest a mezzanine or 'intermediary' DNxHD or Cineform codec, since you are on a PC.

    Thank you

    Kevin
