My windows installation folder is missing from C:\Windows

I can't install or uninstall programs, and my folder Windows install is missing from my drive C in the Windows folder. Suggestions on the fix? I tried to download Windows install redistributive 4.5 here: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?DisplayLang=en&id=8483, but when I try to download, it says "access denied" even if I'm on the only account on my PC which is put in place that the admin AND I have checked all my permissions in the appropriate folders. I'm literally out of options and ready to throw my laptop out of my window.

Please, give me some help here.

Hello

1. what happens when you try to install or uninstall applications?

2. that you get an error? If Yes, what is the exact error message?

3 are you aware of any changes made to the computer, before the show?

Method 1:

Check out the following link.

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2438651

Method 2:

An analysis of System File Checker and check for the issue.

Difficulty the installer of windows vista sp2
    code641/MSI
Failed installation error msg error 80070641 Windows update

After a month of butting heads with the refusal of Microsoft to actually help except to sell us all a new copy of Vista or Win7 at the normal price I solved the problem myself.

    1. I made a list of all my software purchased, including required registration keys, etc. and site URL for those who I don't have a disk for.
    2. Deleted registry back up on my external hard disk, reloading apparently one makes the backed up registry problems breed more.
    3. Inserted my drive from Dell to factory since 2007 and restarted. Press a key to boot from the CD. Chose "reformat hard drive' first, then when prompted hit"Reinstall"(slightly different wording on your computer).
    4. After you have reinstalled the factory disc 32-bit Vista, I spent hours 7 next installation of SP1, SP2 and hundreds of updates. Note that several times Windows Update said some updates to date has failed, but finally everything installed correctly by repeating the sequence of installation/reboot to update. There have been a few files that reported to turn off computer completely, I've shown... clicked with indicator shutdown (stop), let it do its thing until it turned off the computer and then the computer restarted manually later. After a total of 8 hours and 14 minutes as my Vista has been fully loaded, updated the installer is still intact, everything works very well and did not cost a penny.

It has been 2 days since the reformatting/reinstall. I reinstalled all my additional software without problem. System Mechanic is back in service without any prejudice to my installation Service. Seems that something is involved with .NET Framework 4 triggered a defense mechanism that caused the installer should be deleted, solved the problem of the .NET Framework from Microsoft, but it can be installed by the installer being removed to protect our computers. The question was not just with Dell computers, it is Dell support is just as incompetent that Microsoft support batch so more Dell owners were here to complain.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FYI: my mobile Samsung with Win7, the correction was easier because my installation Service has not been removed:

    1. Uninstalled all the software using .net Framework 4 (only 2)
    2. Uninstalled all .net Framework 4 bodies found on my list of programs (Client Profile and Essentials)
    3. A ran my System Mechanic to remove debris aka too much clutter and correct registry problems
    4. Laptop rebooted then ran Windows Update. All the updates installed with 3 requiring the judgment to install. .NET framework reinstalled with updates.
    5. Reinstalled my 2 pieces of software that use .NET Framework.

It has been 4 days without any problem at all. So, in my case, it's .NET Framework 4 that created and continued the problem, even if the specific audit FixIt kept saying all .NET Frameworks have been installed correctly.

  • Accessories folder is missing from the Start Menu

Hello - I just bought a new CPU with Windows 7 Home Premium installed.  When I started to use the system, I know that the traditional Accessories folder which usually includes tools system and other files/folders was in my Start Menu.  After using the test for some time and the installation of many new programs, I noticed that the folder is missing.  Is there a way to get this back in the start without a system restore, because who will cause losing me my programs newly installed what I read on other threads.  Thanks for your comments.

You are right that the system restore can cause you to have to reinstall your newly added programs.  Here is a possible alternative:

Restore previous Versions of a file or folder
1 - click on the Start button, then click on the "All programs" link at the bottom.  Choose "open all users".

    2. in the window that opens, right-click on the folder programs and then choose "restore the previous Versions. The Properties window may take a while to load in all copies of old available in this folder.  Is cool: these versions are in the same place as the restoration of the system of backups, but they allow you to restore individual files rather than your entire system :)

3 - Click on an older version of the file from a date when you know the Accessories folder was still there, then click on 'Open' and look around.  From there, you can with the right accessories backup button and paste it into your programs folder real (that you opened in step 1).

    I hope this helps.

  • Windows could not create an installation folder. Error code: 0x80070005

I bought Windows 7 Ultimate and tried to install it.  I hit "custom" install because I wanted to start over completely and got this error message.

    Try these suggestions:

Error 0 x 80070005 occurs if the upgrade doesn't have permission to the folder writecertain. Try the following steps:

    Reset permissions

    ============

1 if please download the subinacl.msi from the following link and save the patch to installation on the desktop:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=e8ba3e56-d8fe-4A91-93Cf-ed6985e3927b&displaylang=en#AffinityDownloads

    2. go to your desktop and double-click on the downloaded file.

    3. Please select the C:\Windows\System32 folder as the Destination folder during installation. Later, we will use this tool to reset the permissions on the current computer settings.

    4. click on the button 'Start' in the 'Search' bar type: "Notepad" (without the quotes) and press ENTER.

    5. copy the following commands, and then paste them into the opened Notepad window:

    off @echo

    Subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Grant = administrators = f

    Subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Grant = administrators = f

    Subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Grant = administrators = f

    Subinacl % lecteur_systeme % /subdirectories / Grant = administrators = f

    Subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Grant = system = f

    Subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Grant = system = f

    Subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Grant = system = f

    Subinacl % lecteur_systeme % /subdirectories / Grant = system = f

    @Echo =========================

    Completed @Echo.

    @Echo =========================

    @pause

    6. After you paste the above commands, please close the Notepad window. Choose "Save" when you are prompted to save the file. Type "reset.bat" as the file name and choose "Desktop" in the Panel on the left as the save location.

    7. refer to the desktop and right click the reset.bat file, then choose "Run as Administrator".

    8. you will see a window of type BACK treatment.

NOTE: It may take several minutes, please be patient. When it is finished, you will be prompted with the message: "finished, press any key to continue."

If the same thing happens, move to the next step.

Run the upgrade by using the built-in Administrator

    ================================

    1. click the button start-> all programs-> Accessories.

    2. right click on command prompt and select "run as Administrator".

    3. click on continue when user account control window appears.

4 copy the following command and press ENTER:

NET user administrator / Active: Yes

5 restart the computer and then log on the computer of this administrator account.

    6. run the upgrade to windows 7.

Error code 0 x 80070005 usually indicates that you don't have enough privileges or the operation is blocked. I know, some programs (Boot Camp on a Mac PC, etc.) is not compatible with Windows 7, if you have installed these programs on the computer, you may not be able to perform the upgrade. You should uninstall these programs before upgrading. In addition, such a question may be related to UAC, I recommend you turn off UAC in Windows Vista, if you have installed security software, try uninstalling the security application as well.

No, I don't think. Just about anything in the Windows directory cannot be moved. You will need to find another way to clear disk space. Try to compress your drive hard (if you don't know how, ask).

  • Windows XP installation folder has 63 GB of information

I can remove this information without affecting the operation of XP?

Safely remove the contents of this folder is depends on the software or games that is installed on your computer.
If you remove just the entire interior of the C:\Windows\Installer folder then some programs such as MS Office or some CAD software may be unable to start, and also all the software installed with Microsoft Installer will lose the ability to uninstall or repair itself.
To reduce the size of this folder safely, you can use "start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs" and uninstall all the software that you no longer use.
This will remove the selected software itself and should remove the Microsoft Installer files cached within the C:\Windows\Installer folder as well.

  • Loading error when you try to load the Halo 2 "files are missing or damaged in the installation directory. A few important files required to run this game are missing from the installation directory.

Original title: load error when you try to load Halo 2

People at Microsoft, I have a problem trying to load Halo 2 on my dv7 Paviliaon with Vista and the 2.8 GB Intel Centrino 2 processor. When I try and load the game, I get and error stating: "the files are missing or damaged in the installation directory. A few important files required to run this game are missing from the installation directory. "It bothered me for several reasons. One: the disc that I use is an original disc out of the box so hsould have no problem. Two: the game has been loaded previously on the same computer without apparent problem at the time. It has been deleted (don't remember why) and when I tried to reinstall, the error came. Three: I did as recommended and updated all programs and drivers, nothing works. So my question is, how do I reinstall Halo 2 and what this problem will arise if I decide to buy and load Halo 3?

Thank you for your time in advance.

    I wouldn't need BIS right >?

~ ~ ~ my phone is a piece of shit and I had it replaced, I had to use an old backup of the Desktop Manager, and now I have 3 different e-mail accounts, send a habit, one old emails from March ' 09, and the other he's there looking stupid... so what I would do is remove my email (yahoo), then add it back, but in general the icon I want is missing

Please help, looks like phone support for RIM's day

Soory so seem to be a noob, but I've looked everywhere

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

BIS and the icon you're looking for are the same thing - BIS is the service offered by your operator, which allows driving between your email accounts (Yahoo, GMail, etc.) and your BB. The icon you're looking for is the interface to the level of the device to BIS. There are other interfaces as well, for example from a web browser for PC:

    http://www.BlackBerryFAQ.com/index.php/Where_can_I_log_into_my_BIS_account%3F

See this demo for device-specific information on access to the configuration application and configuring e-mail BIS:

    http://NA.BlackBerry.com/eng/support/blackberry101/Setup.jsp#tab_tab_email

Now, what you may also face lies in the fact that you have changed the devices... each BB has a unique PIN, that is bound BIS account to your carrier. If they don't move your old BB to the new, then this might explain things... you can contact your operator for assistance with your BIS account - they (no RIM) control this account and the service.

Hope that helps... give a little of this a try and let us know now.

Thank you I enjoyed your attention and your support.

I called and Microsoft went through basically the same things that you suggested.

We did a system restore (at an earlier date) and fortunately he fixed itrself. I'm good to go.

    Who knows why it happened.
