• Disappeared mysteriously character encoding

  Hi once again, guys.

  OK, so that's the thing like that. I have Windows Vista SP2 and Internet Explorer 8. Recently, I have noticed that Japanese websites that use encodings of Japanese characters, such as Japanese (EUC), Japanese (JIS) and Japanese (Shift_JIS), display the text garbled instead of Japanese characters. I assumed that that was caused by the Unicode value encodings, so I went to the encoding menu to change to all the character encodings mentioned previously and he found none of the Japanese character encodings were present, because they have disappeared.

  After my first surprise, I noticed that other encodings of characters Asian Oriental were still present (Korean, Chinese, Taiwanese, etc) and as perplexed as I was, decided to uninstall Internet Explorer 8 to see if the problem was independent of the browser. Found the same result after an uninstall successful (using Internet Explorer 7) and even after clean reinstall Internet Explorer 8.

  Knowing that Windows Vista has supported language of Eastern Europe and Asia already integrated, that I found no way to repair or reinstall to see if the problem could be solved in this way. My father has a laptop with Windows Vista SP2 and Internet Explorer 8, and he has no problem at all. My mother has a laptop with Windows XP SP3 and Internet Explorer 7, once again without a problem. I have a laptop with Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 8, always without problems. This means that what has caused the problem came from my own desktop computer.

  Oh, almost forgot, list of the things that is present on this computer:

  • Windows Vista with Service Pack 2
  • Internet Explorer 8 (also tried with Internet Explorer 7)
  • Panda Antivirus Pro 2010 (it was the culprit of all that many times, so why not add it?)

  I need these Japanese encodings, because I used to navigate the Japanese sites to keep my Japanese reading skills still work. Any help would be appreciated.

• HR HTML 9.02 and Source Control 3.1 will not save files in design mode, only the HTML view.

  We use RoboHelp 9.02 (just 9 and charged the next day so up-to-date, we 9,02) and Robo Source Control 3.1 and when we check a file and change the file, we can not save the file in Design view.  If we click on the HTML mode, we can save the file.  We have reproduced this on multiple files at the same time our computers accessing the server.  Now using RoboHelp HTML on a local project is functioning normally, only when we have access to the files on the server we select the HTML mode in order to save the topic.

  While this is an acceptable work around short term, we need this bug to get fixed unless someone knows of a checkbox somewhere that we must check in design mode to record and studied.

  I will be happy to provide you with any input and or test the additional fixes to help to fix this bug.  It is completely reproducible and constant on all tested subjects.  Source code control works insofar as this case the subject is verified by one the other cannot access the topic.  Once the topic is saved in HTML, then the subject can be archived and changes are visible by the other author.

  After the installation of Robo 9, Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 has been removed from the computer and MS Word 2000 did not work.  I've upgraded to Office/Word 2003 and I can now use Word 2003.  I have not attempted to reload Acrobat yet but that is next on my list.  Acrobat Professional was removed from these two computers during the installation.  Word 2000 exists only on the laptop.  I was in the queue to get updated later in the year, so they gave me a key and Word 03 seems to operate normally.  Did not check the Excel or PowerPoint 2000.

  Other news, you may be interested to know:

  • Both computers use Windows XP.
  • Both have office 2003.  -C' is because Word 2000 stopped working when Robo 9 has been installed.
  • Both have with max memory 32-bit operating systems.
  • Both have multiple monitors.
  • One is a laptop, the other is a desktop computer.
  • Both computers had 8.02 Robo? but RH8 was uninstalled before installing RH9.
  • 3.1 source code control has not been reinstalled on the server since version was the same that came with RH9
  • Source control has been reinstalled as a step of troubleshooting on the laptop without change.
  • RSO3 middle-tier service is running on all 3 computers and RSO3 server runs on the server pc.
  • Two users have administrator rights so all of the checkboxes are checked for access and control.

  Having identified some problems in our global variable file in another project, I had a look at this project and found a few variables were empty, have a mystery character input or information applied to the variable fonts.  Rather than change back the variable only one digit or a character with no set form and text input in variables of the virgins, I deleted the unused variables of the project that just happened to 99% of the variables because we divided this part of the project in a booth along the project.  Remove the variables solved the problem where we had to switch from Design view to HTML view in order to save a topic.  I find this rather strange since none of the topics referenced stray variables.  Now we have only the variable of the version that refers to all subjects in the foot.  Everything seems to work fine now.  If you encounter this problem, have a good look at your file of global variables, line by line, to see if there is something other than text or numbers and delete everything except for the text.

• Mystery of character Invisible

  

  There is a mysterious invisible between 'Right' and 'Absorption' - there is a space followed by a colon character.

  If I copy and paste it into the "search text" I get ^ I, etdansl 'find grep' I get ~ I (those are uppercase i BTW). But it does not actually find the character.

  You can paste as much of as you want and they take no space.

  I have a document from a client who is full of them, and I don't know what they are - any suggestions as to where they came from and how to get rid of them? I thought they might be software such as InCatalog or EasyCatalog but apparently it has not used one of these.

  But your GREP code indicates that it is an Index mark. Take a look in the Index panel. It is filled with many things?

  Thanks for the screenshot. Are you sure that the returned carractère is "ESC" with code 1 b? Maybe look at the hex code of the returned string and vevifiez that the first character has the code 1 b

• In Lr 3.6 How can I search for filenames ending with a character #?

  Text search seems to treat the character # somehow mysterious way not to select files that have it in their name. I can't find any explanation for this in the documentation. Is there some other characters that I have to put next to the # do register as a normal character?

  My problem is that I need to find a bunch of files in my catalog whose names ending with a character #. I want to rename these files in a way that removes the end #, but no other characters # separating the key elements of the file names. If I can't do it then I want to select this group of files and to produce for them .xmp files (I don't use normally .xmp files) so that I can rename files outside of the Lr and import them to new complete with all settings and metadata.

  I dare say that I wouldn't choose to name the files in this way if I started again but I have too much change now.

  There is also too much for me to want to rename them, individually, in the metadata Panel, if I can avoid it.

  Your files names really end by ' # ' (e.g. img123.jpg #) or is it the part without the extension that ends by "#" (e.g. img123 # .jpg).  If the latter, then that this Smart Collection criteria will identify the:

  File name contains #.

  If the first, then as you have noticed, smart Collections will not work.  But you can use the plugin to any filter, this criterion:

  Name of the file ends by #.

• Change order number/special character artists

  I would like to know if there is a way to change the order of all the artists that begin with a number or a special character order. Currently, they are all sitting at the bottom of the list of the artist on the ipod (and iTunes) but I would like to have all displays at the top of this list.

  This is the sort order...  I think you would need to change the names of the artists so that they start with something that gets sorted at the top of the list in alphanumeric order.  For example, replace 10,000 Maniacs a_10, 000 Maniacs.

  This past weekend, I noticed that my Messages app acted strangely on my iPhone 6. Accordingly, I turned and turn it on again and noticed that all of my posts have disappeared. I then did a hard reset and turned on - still no messages.

  I have my settings to keep my messages forever, what really saddened me to see all of my messages disappeared. In any case, I'm about to restore my backup iPhone on a new phone (6 s). Luckily, I backed up my phone the week last before my messages disappearing.

  I understand that when I restore a backup, everything that happened on my phone since will not appear. However, I have also the Messages on my MacBook Air app, when kept all my messages before and after the mysterious disappearance on my phone. Once I have perform this restore, I was wondering if it is possible to synchronize in any post-restore on my laptop to my phone messages.

  Congratulations on your new iPhone 6 s! I understand that you want to synchronize the restoration of post messages on your Mac Messages app to your iPhone 6 s. If these are the iMessages, your new device needs to load the entire conversation once you send or receive an iMessage from the recipient.   I think that there is a text replacement for default <-. You can create an if it is not on your Mac.

  If this is not suitable, you will have to use some third-party hot key programs or create a Service of Automator, which types the character (using a run AppleScript action). I can probably show you how the automator service, if necessary.

• Impossible to delete legacy files, character there is NO guilty?

  I was browsing some legacy files in my archive DVD containing old projects of the time 7 OS and now I am unable to remove my trash of 2 of them. There are two pesky files that contains a "NULL" character at the beginning of their file name. I can't move or rename, so the folder hierarchy that contains rest too.

  

  I can't rename the files. When I move or empty the trash, this error message is displayed:

  

  I have tried everything I can think, renamed, all UNIX commands in the terminal I could google to the top. Moving them in a temporary account and then delete the account does not work. After you remove the user remainder file, containing only rogue files and folders.

  Help, please! What can I do to get rid of these pesky files?

  (a) start the machine problem in OS X 10.10 or an earlier version and delete the file from there. or

  (b) connect the machine problem started in disc Mode target of another machine booted to OS X 10.10 or an earlier version and delete the file from there. or

  (c) to initialize the volume where the file problem.

  This seems to be a serious regression within XNU. I wonder if it is fixed in OS X 10,12 or not.

  So I was going through the settings in iCloud pages and there is not a SINGLE button to highlight (in popular word - fill character). I also tried to do the same thing on my iPhone and I can't find a toggle for it? Do I have to buy a MacBook just to have the opportunity to highlight a text? Seriously?

  There is no 'true' highlighted in the Pages for iCloud, and it doesn't surprise me that he isn't in the version of iOS. This isn't a mistake made by Microsoft in terms of their Office Online solution.

  Yes, if you want to use Pages and need to access the true document highlighting, then you will need pages for Mac. A more complete and coherent solution in writing are in Word for iOS, Online Word and Office 2016 (whether on Mac or Windows).

• Chinese character for nǚ

  When you type with the keyboard of mandarin simplified, when I type the letters 'naked', the first coming option is 奴. But I want only the radical for nǚ (the first left radical). This character does not present as an option. Is there a way to type only the first radical - or I'm stuck writing 'woman' like '奴人 '?   The standard method to represent u in pinyin keyboards is 'v '.  If you type nv for 女

  When you write emails I find that I cannot use the character/insert symbol function once. If I want to use again in the same or another e-mail, I can only do so after re-start Thunderbird (not the computer) I use Windows XP Home Edition

  I have no problem, I suggest that you try to restart with the modules disabled in the Help menu and see if, maybe, the problem is caused by an add-on or theme.
