Mystery - hidden files Blog

Asked me to update Web site from a new customer, which includes his blog. I connected via ftp and downloaded the entire site. I find that once I get in the blog folder, there are hidden files that are not accessible, nor on my side or side server. This happens with Dreamweaver and GoLive. I then downloaded passed to see if it would work. Initially, he worked to where I could see the files. Then after I have paid for and recorded the show, these files have become too well hidden and preferences seem to be missing the show hidden files option.

I have studied hidden files and checked all my settings, but so far no progress.

No one knows about it, and if so, is there something I can do to access? Preference using Dreamweaver CS3, CS4 DW or same GoLive CS2.

Thank you!

Linda

Mac OS 10.4.11

Oh, hidden but available. As in too many files to display in a list of files

(Panel of DW files), but still accessible by the browser/OS? This is done

his vaguely familiar. I think that the solution I've heard of for as many

files was to create several folders for them. Based on the alphabet, that day, or

other means.

I heard that on a certain system, too many files in a folder can slow down

things a substantial improvement. I could not tell you what is "too much", however.

Mysterious to me in any case. While trying to free up space on my 240 GB SSD 'C' drive that keeps filling with crap somehow, I found these PP files:

    AAMd0e.jpg

These files are hidden under AppData and take much space all finished projects from now, so it's a good time, I clean up. I would remove them here or is there a better way to go about this?

It's the media cache, resulting from the importation of media. You can erase it in Edit/Preferences/Media and click on clean up

  • Show hidden files and folders option does not

I'm trying to access a hidden folder, C:\programdata\... I can't see it in Explorer. When I go into control panel > folder options > discovers... the option box to display hidden files and folders is already selected.

I tried to change this option to not display hidden files and folders by selecting the radio button, and then clicking on apply. Then I exit the menu display. However, when I return to the menu display the radio button beside display hidden files. That is to say it is not "saved" change.

I changed other elements in the advanced example view menu Hide extensions of known file types, and it works very well.

I was not able to find this problem in the forum. Of course, I have restarted my pc. I don't know when this problem was that I don't often get this hidden folder.

  • can't see the hidden files option change

I have my old laptop computer hard drive connected to my new. I want to import my favorites but can not find the file because it is hidden. When I try to access the file options and click on 'See the hidden files', apply, then OK, the folder appdata still does not show. When I return to the folder options, the button "View hidden files" is unchecked. I tried to make hidden files visible on the new laptop & the old drive hard but can't seem to understand.

Also, when I enter E:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles (change user & the drive letter), result is found.

I really need these bookmarks, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Re: Qosmio G - hidden files and folders is not displayed

Hi people, I have a few hidden files and folders, which I was able to access the front and I used to click on the "organize tab" display, advanced settings, display the files and folders to hide or show hidden files.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a problem, I just can't access my hidden files and folders, even when I go through this method.
someone help me please as soon as possible...

    Thank you

    Hi aaz911,

First of all, it would be nice of you if you post information on your laptop model and the operating system. This must be done always to get a detailed response.

In any case, I never heard of this problem, but make sure that all files will be displayed:
Start Windows Explorer > tools > Folder Options > view and enable the following options:
-Files and folders hidden: display the hidden files and folders
-Hide protected operating system files (this should be disabled > unbranded).

In addition you will find these missing files by using Windows search?

If this isn't the case, I suppose the files are deleted from someone or due to a virus. :(

  • Time Capsule hidden files

    How are you?

I have a big problem, I made a copy of my macbook to time capsule 3 gen and delete of macbook.

Now I need to use my files and I can't, they are transparent and do not open but to inspect the show that using 30 GB.

How can I solve this problem?

    These files are extremely important.

There are permission issues interesting past especially with El Capo.

This could have been caused by you not deliberately creating a directory until you moved your files.

On your screen to get information, there is nothing wrong with permissions, but nothing!

You have enabled see hidden files in Finder? I don't think it will help, but you should try.

You must also use the same computer and the same username... but if wipe you the computer and clean installed which can also be a problem even if you use the same user name.

I wish I could just give you a bunch of Terminal commands to copy the files to your computer. My brain is too old to remember all the commands and I'm too frustrated to get them... but if you want to learn to make google copy of the files of the terminal. (rsync commands can be more mature to use). By giving access to the root, you can copy the files.

    The alternatives are

Plug in a USB key in the TC... it must be big enough for all files on the TC and Mac format. Usually just say a drive of the same size... IE if your TC is standard Gen3 with 1 TB disk and then use a 1 TB USB drive or more.

In airport utility to archive the TC.

Certainly not erase it... I put a red box around erasing...

Once you have finished of archive (it's pretty slow, but once started, you don't have the computer running)... Plug the USB key directly on the computer.

Then you can repair permissions... utility disk used to do but El CAPO disk utility is a useless piece of lard.

    http://osxdaily.com/2015/11/04/verify-repair-permissions-Mac-OS-x/

Huge progress in El Capo is to remove the permissions in disk utility and bring it back to the command-line... you can clearly see the progress made in simple GUI OSX...! (Sorry I still use.. Mountain Lion works very well!)

Another way to work around the problem...

The old gen3, you can easily remove the CT disk... get a USB to Sata (HDD holder or external cable and power) adapter. And plug the USB into the computer... It's really the same thing as above but you don't have to buy another USB key if you do not.

Yet another way to work around the problem...

There is another way... a secret path... (think Gollum and the col de Minas Morgul, Cirith Ungol) I'm Arachne... who has lived for centuries in the Hollows of secret... Talking to me directly... my email is opened in the profile. You must give me remote access and I can help you. Maybe it's the last access of type resort to Mordor. (You can guess my last reading list).

  • Folder options - view the hidden files and folders

    Hello

On this same laptop, there seems to be a problem with * Folder Options - Show hidden files and Folders.*

Every time I have to 'see' this option to display - then I go back to check/confirm the changes - but the box is new 'unchecked '. Despite clicking on apply then Ok to save the changes. The changes are never saved...

I have used other laptops of this same option and it worked fine.

Please indicate if I need to apply or change other settings for this to work?

    Kind regards.

A reasonable explanation from Microsoft for this?
To be honest I have never heard talk about something like that. ?:|

Since when you noticed this behavior?
Have you tried to roll back the BONES to the bygone era? Maybe some update is responsible for this.

I really hope that someone here will explain why this happen.

  • is there a way to make a smart folder to hidden files in Picasa (or folders)?

I know how to "unmask" the files on a Mac, but I was wondering if there was a way to make a smart folder of these hidden files. Specifically, I was looking to make a smart list of the original Picasa files that are usually hidden.

You can add a criterion of visibility of the file. Is not a user of Picasa, I can't offer more specific advice.

When you start a new smart folder, click on the button in the criteria section.

Click on the button to select a category of criteria and choose another...

Scroll the list (or using the search) to find the Invisible file. If you select and click Ok, it will serve as a criterion. If you want that this element added to the list of criteria, so you don't have to hunt for it with others, click the box "in the Menu.

Combine this with some other criteria will be useful to isolate the original Picasa.

  • I have the options checked "Show hidden files", I still don't see any records

Even though I have checked options "Show hidden files", I still see no records, I KNOW that I put in place.  If I have "research" them I can see, but if I prepare a document and want to then save it in a folder known... the file will not be displayed in the list for me in the choice of where to put my new document.  Why?

    Hello jkgk,

Please see the thread below for some possible solutions:

  • Can't see hidden files to delete in the folder C:\Documents and Settings\William\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

C:\Documents and Settings\William\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files folder there are more than 135,000 files; nearly 2,000 cases and close to 3 GB of data. These files do not display and I can't remove them by deleting temporary Internet files. When I try to see the files to help to locate hidden files, only three very small files appear. How can I delete these files? Can I delete the folder and create a new one?

    William

You can also enter your options Internet Explorer (via Control Panel), on the general tab, in the browsing history, there should be a settings button, once there, you should be able to select Show files in the temporary Internet files section.  Who will open the file for you and you can do CTRL + A (select all), and then delete.

Some of the files in the folder may be used, and if they are in use, you will not be able to remove them.  You will need to know what is their use, cannot be used, then delete them.

  • Hidden files remain hidden

My wife has hidden some files on his desktop computer from Dell 755usff running Windows XP Professional SP3 and don't remember doing. When she opens a couple of his records, my photos / My Documents, she gets the following message.

This folder contains the hidden files. If you want to select these files as well, enable the display of hidden files in Folder Options Panel.

So we go to the control panel and activate the hidden file display option and... Get the same message when we open the folder again.

Any suggestions as to what she may have done and how solve us this problem would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

Sorry for the delay in responding. Registry was all fine and I got the files she had hidden using a recovery disk. She had hidden a couple of folders with pictures in there... :-)

    Thanks for the answer anyway...

It is always sensible in this situation to achieve a malware check

Start the computer in safe mode with network and download and install Malwarebytes (free version for individuals only), updated definitions and run in safe mode. Disable other security software while you do the analyses.
