N500 BIOS update of brightness adjustment stuck

I have a n500 4233-hg running windows xp and updated the bios from 6get17ww to 6get18ww in order to activate my hdmi port (Yes it has a port hdmi on the left side near vga output). After update hdmi works very well but lcd brightness hotkeys got stuck: by pressing fn + f10 or fn + f11 sails through 14 levels but brightness change only from low to high and again the lowest in the order (level 1 low 2 high level, low lvl3 lvl4 high, low level5 etc.) all Middle States lost... I downgraded to the previous version via the winphlash and tried other versions also backup file but the problem persists; any ideas?

PS I had the ability to adjust levels of brightness as fair that the machine is switched on (of post); Info: bios version 6get18ww (1.09) bios keyboard this: 6gec19ww (1.08)

Thank you

Hey yigit, I found the solution it is a bit strange, but it worked: offline screen and inverter flex-cables from the motherboard, turned on, connected only cables inverter you press the brightness and voila! (switch off cable screen connect put all things together... )

I knew I shouldn't update BIOS unless I have problems. A message came Toshiba Bulletin Board and I was stupid enough to trust him and I have updated my BIOS. The update has been successful, my computer seems to work very well.

Except, now when I try to watch a movie, I downloaded every 10 seconds or if it gets stuck for a second and then plays normally and it happens when I play music on itunes. Hey!

I am pleased that you are in your laptop.

What is the screen below as you talk?

All HP and Compaq computers that were manufactured with 10 Windows can use Secure Boot. Secure startup is enabled by default on these computers.

If the image above is actually what you are talking about, please take a look at the documentation for Secure Boot . You will see a section called disabling Secure Boot... This should help you with the start menu.

    I hope this helps!

  • BIOS update help stuck!

Hi, I have a Pavilion dv6-3040us and when I turned on my laptop, he asked me if I wanted to do a bios update then I did and press ENTER.  Now its impasse on 'New BIOS Image Verification' block 34/512 for almost an hour now.  What can I do? Thank you

Update - seems that my laptop failed finally battery and extinction.  During the reboot, the update of the bios went quickly without any problems. Don't know what was wrong before, but maybe I just needed taken power.

You are very lucky that it does not corrupt your computer. Having plugged adapter is one of the terms when you Flash the BIOS and most likely, that's what he expected.

The BIOS is a specific set of instructions that are stored on the motherboard and not on the hard disk, the BIOS is not a program or a driver. When these instructions are altering the processor, video card, etc. can properly interact with the hardware on the computer.

Most of the time it comes to send back to HP to fix this problem. There are a few things to do, but they are not very successful.

Next time don't let HP update BIOS, if everything works fine, do not update anything, especially the BIOS.

Pls help me someone I can do...

    Hello

    > Original driver here on the TOSHIBA page... is too old... and mae AMD driver problem...

I put t know how help you buddy the point is that the graphics card driver that is available on the page of the Toshiba driver is modified for mobile use and its recommended by Toshiba.
Usually, you use this driver to make sure that the correct feature for laptop.

Of course, you can try to use the other graphics card drivers, but in some cases, different version could lead to small different questions: in this case > problem with brightness control.

However, you can try to install the graphics driver AMD/ATI driver Toshiba UE page but check the driver released for other series of laptop. You might get a more recent version of the driver.

Brightness last but not the least similar problems could be value added Package update (for Win 7), but also the BIOS update (if available)

  • Qosmio x 300 - 13w - BIOS update question

I have a Qosmio x 300 - 13w and noticed that there is a BIOS recent update 1.8 for this laptop. I want to this flash as it can help with a problem with the Fn keys and adjusting screen brightness according to the release notes.

However the download available on the European site of Toshibas only allows to Flash the BIOS of Windows and recommend this method.
The strange thing is that the same BIOS update of the Toshibas USA site is very different insofar as it allows flash diskettte, CDs or windows and in its statement accompanying notes said flashing within windows present a higher risk to break the laptop.

What I don't understand, is why European download offers only a flash within the method windows and States on the download page that is that Toshibas method recommended update and still on the American site, it says that it is more risky and give more choice - what gives people?

Why Toshiba Europe puts its customers in a potential situation of bricking their phone?

Whatever do Toshiba will always be strange or understandable for someone.
Maybe you are an expert in computer science and maybe you have the floppy drive, but you must understand that 99% of people do not have floppy drive and don't understand what means BIOS.

Thus, Toshiba has to offer something that will be easy, but at the same time efficient for these clients of 99%.
Way easier for the update of the BIOS is double click on the exe and everything will be done automatically.

Toshiba Europe is not the same thing as Toshiba U.S.. Two continents, two different systems and another right.
Maybe company policy is also not the same. We can only speculate on this.

In any case, the BIOS update is here so it is your decision to do or not. If you want the update of the traditional BIOS you can contact Toshiba nearest service if they can get it for you.

  • Dell Inspiron 1520 screen brightness adjustment does not

I downloaded Dell Quickset and BIOS update today, but this does not solve the problem. Any constructive suggestion appreciated.

I just tried this and IT WORKED! I don't know how much luck you'll have, but try the Fn key and pressing the up and down arrows while your computer starts. It worked for me. For my Inspiron 1420, I adjusted the brightness, while he was when the screen went black and the words "Microsoft Corporation" above and the Green loading bar going across the screen. That's what I did and I hope it works for you! :)

  • Satellite A660 - 18 BIOS update & fails (re-visited) HARD drive recovery

Referring to an old thread from my friends...

I tried earlier to update the BIOS of v1.80 for v1.90 (whether by the automatic update tool Service Station and the direct download of the update of the BIOS).

Whenever the update of the BIOS ran, he abandoned arguing that the battery was low (it was not), alternating current was not on (it is) and the existing BIOS version was superior to the new version (it wasn't).

The real problem seems to be that the version of the BIOS (as shown in "Toshiba HWSetup") is:

    + The BIOS version = V234567890. 00/00/00000000000 +.
    + Version EC = 1.80 +.

However, in the Diagnostic PC Toshiba tool the BIOS version on the page of basic information is correctly reported as 1.80

At the point where I couldn't be worth blat my disc with the original image and try again. I was hoping that Toshiba would set the BIOS update to fix the problem. Didn't happen.

They released v2.00 BIOS in June 2011 and would not always up to date. So I backed up my data and tried to blat of the machine to factory State. What a nightmare...

The recovery image doesn't work well at all!

The first bit works (the original partition creation and image copy), but after the startup of Windows and the script factory Toshiba intervenes, all sorts of problems begin.

First of all, the thing stuck several times in a process of "assessment of system performance. This happens in several phases of reboots because the drivers are installed. Then there's a bunch of bug script error messages and DMI analyze the errors you will need to click on ' close and do not report the crash "type dialog. What makes it more difficult is that the Toshiba factory configuration script sets up a blank page trying to see you on what the bureau is to be avoided. Even if you try to pass in the Manager of tasks to complete the process deadlocked, it gives you a few seconds grace before forcing the Office to lock and hide behind the white screen again. If you're quick and good time, you can stop the evaluation of performance at a standstill (I think it's just the thing to the Windows Experience score). Same thing to reject the other boxes of error...

Finally, I arrived at the end of the script and the machine was built with all of the original software.

The program HWSetup still reports the version of BIOS of nonsense and the PC Diagnostic tool always reports it correctly.

The Service Station program now does not even start. It crashes with a message + "request the Toshiba Service Station could not initialize. Try to restart or reinstall the application. » +. I downloaded the last being on the website and installed... To be hosted later with the same message.

Program update direct BIOS for v2.00 made his usual thing you ask that the current BIOS version is greater than 200 and abandonment.

I even read in a FAQ that some recovery routines do not work correctly with more than 4 GB of RAM (I have 8 GB). So I did all of this once again with only 4 GB installed and the script was just as broken for 4 GB 8 GB.

I ran PC complete diagnosis for machine test suite and it turned up nothing.

A little confused now... Maybe time to log a failure while I have a few more months of warranty left. But the machine actually works, just can't update the BIOS. Would be my luck if a problem arose just after the warranty has expired, and they said 'just update the BIOS...

In front of me, I 3 laptop years. Over the past three years, Toshiba has offered 3 BIOS updates. I don t care about it and still use the original version that I got with my laptop. I want to say, why change anything and start this risky If update everything works fine and it does.

Several times I have read here that people write about the problems of updating the BIOS and damaged BIOS. This risk does not apply to me just having the latest version.

Anyway, if you want to have all past orders on your laptop, it is without a doubt your legitimate right. In General, the BIOS updates are tested before Toshiba offers for download so I really put t understand why you have this kind of problems. The problem with the installation of recovery is also strange.

A few months ago, a friend of mine bought A660 and I helped him create recovery DVDs, and we also tested the recovery procedure everything including the three options:
    Back to out-of-box state
Recover without changing the hard drive partitions
    Get a custom size partition

Everything worked perfectly so I m really confused about everything you write.

Unfortunately, I can't help you with this. When I could have your laptop in front of me to see exactly what is happening, it will be much easier to understand all of this.
I updated the BIOS on different laptops, and I got lucky because every time that everything was fine.

Your laptop is guaranteed valid so I recommend you contact Toshiba service provider in your country and ask for assistance.
What do you think about this?
