Named cells and entries in Excel report

Hello world

I use the report generation tool to fill an Excel template.

The problem is that I have to name and define as input a lot of cells, while MS Office report Express VI allows only 25 named cells and 17 entries.

Is there a way to avoid this problem? Otherwise, no matter what other ways to fill cells in a particular situation of a specific Excel model?

All kinds of advice would be helpful.

Thank you in advance.

Here's a technique I use with the GTA.  Suppose you know the cell you want to put something, and you want to put.  For example, you want to put 'My text' in cell B4 and want to put "Pi =" and (number) 3.14 in cells adjacent C8 and D8.  Here is the code to do this (explanation below):

The 'Get Excel rental' function will be an Excel cell ID, as B4 and translate online and column (offset 0) numbers.  If it is to group together, they become the 'address of the cell' who wants the easy table Excel function.  However, the easy Table needs a 2D picture, and we have that one value - no problem, simply pass through the table to build twice to make a 2D table 1 by 1.  Now, you can use Easy Table to put this unique value ("my text") in cell (B4) you want.

I did a similar thing with "Pi =" and put it in the cell C8.  However, since I want the following value to enter in the next cell (right), I use the output of simple Table, 'next cell-top right', to indicate where the number 3.14 should go.

    Hi BEGINNER_X,

    First of all, you must convert the excel file to the format of files "*.csv or delimited by tabs. (I use commas .csv file).

    You posted in above code JS reading only the names of paragraph style. Then another code is read only comma-delimited text file, but you are not comparing the paragraph style in the list of excel files. You missed here.

    Please try the JS code below his works very well, but not generated the report file. I hope that you will generate the report of your side file.

    var myFile = File.openDialog("Choose a tab delimitted txt file:");
    if (!myFile){
    exit();
    }

    var myArray = []
    myFile.open('r');
    while (myFile.eof==false){
        var line=myFile.readln().split(",");
        myArray.push(line[0]);
        }

    var myDoc = app.activeDocument;
    var myPstyles = app.activeDocument.allParagraphStyles;

    Array.prototype.contains = function(obj) {
        var i = this.length;
        while (i--) {
            if (this[i] === obj) {
                return true;
            }
        }
        return false;
    }

    PDF does not contain columns, lines, formats, styles or other aspects of word processing or spreadsheet file formats.

    This is because the PDF is decidedly not a file format of word processor or a spreadsheet or something 'like' one of these.

    (see ISO 32000 for what PDF "is")

    Which allows to optimize the export of the content of a page PDF is to start with that tag well formed PDF (ISO 14289-1, PDF/UA-1).

    Without that export is what it is and we performs the cleanup of any necessary content using the native application for the export of files (MS Word or Excel).

  • conversion of the error of date / time when using easy excel reports

    I export a 2D array to an excel file using Excel reports easy vi. I have no problem with that. My data has a number of areas with different formats (text and date/time). My problem is the following:

    * some (in other words, not all data is in the same worksheet) the veiled values of date/time to mm/dd/yyyy format whereas they should be in mm/dd/yyyy (is the excel format it is y in!). Essentially, I have 30/09/2008 (September 30, 2008) in a cell. After ticks on Oct. 1, it will display the date as, 01/10/2008. Excel thinks that this date is in the format dd/mm/yyyy.

    This is a known error in earlier versions of Excel (2002), in particular when you convert a .csv, .xls file. The solution, it was not to add "Local: = True ' at the end of the vba command string (see here: MS Knowledge Base). Here, in LabView I'm not sure how to proceed.

    I tried to change the format of the column in question to the 'text' by calling an Excel Macro in LabView, but do you think I can find the vba command to do? No, not so much.

    LabView saves the Excel file in 97-2003 format (I use MSOffice 2007) and I wonder if the version they are using does not consider the time correction, as described in the knowledge base (or if it applies).

    Any suggestions, I'd love to hear from you.

    Kind regards

    David.

    Hi LaRisa,.

    I was able to find the cell Format Excel set vi and successfully change the format of the value of the cell. It wasn't until I had found the vi that I realized that I've been down this road before. Change the format after the table has been created does not change values dd and mm switching that has already occurred. However, if I did before I "created the table" (or vi Excel table) and set the format to be '@' then it displays the string like 'Text' in the Excel file. That's nice. I can control what cell, row, or column to format now. If I want to be in a date format then I must apply the Format of cell vi after the easy Excel table vi.

    It sounds like a stupid race around me...

    Hello

    I have 6 scripts (written by Luke and Robert) who are used to extract information of the box of ESX as shown below. I want to combine the scripts into a single and output in excel. I have a csv file with names of servers esx in it. The combined script should take the entry of the name of the csv esx server and run these scripts and export information to an excel spreadsheet. I need a workbook with each server esx excel as a table in it.

    ESX - report.ps1-> extract info from esx host

    VM - report.ps1-> extract info VM

    Teddy - report.ps1-> extract info ESX physical network adapter

    PortGroup - report.ps1-> extract portgroup info

    Report.ps1-> info report data store retrieves data store

    Firewall - report.ps1-> need to be written (gave joint excel spreadsheet format)

    Time servers - report.ps1-> need to be written (gave joint excel spreadsheet format)

    DNSserver - report.ps1-> need to be written (gave joint excel spreadsheet format)

    I have attached the format of the expected output excel workbook and scripts.

    Thanks in advance!

    There was a bug in the script, the Get-View in the teddy bear (report 3) and the portgroup (report 4) not took into account that the mode of VIServer ran in "multi".

    Which should be fixed in the new version attached.

    The new version also includes the name of ESX for the reports, 7, 8 and 9.

  • How to display the text in the cell for CDA on the report

    Hi all

    I use en-Studio of reporting. Now my requirement is I want to show the text in the cell that I added under CDA - column Variance in the report. So for this I used the text of the cells and within this function function, I gave the line, column and page number. But it does not show the text in the cell that I added for hyperion planning on the report. But if I am referring to another cell text that I added to the variance of Yeartotal I'm able to see on the report.
    Can someone tell me why I'm not able to see the text from the cell that I added to the variance of the CDA?
    Pls tell the way by which I can return.

    My formula looks like this-

    < < TxtCase ("Grid1", 78 H, 1, $CurrentMonth = "October") > > I am very confused about the last parameter. No error or the kind of argument not valid message, but it still all just empty.

    Thank you

    I think you're out of luck on this one.

    Cell notes are stored in the planning of the HSP_CELL_NOTE and HSP_CELL_NOTE_ITEM tables. Done HSP_CELL_NOTE refers to a member for each dimension that is pointing to the intersection where the note should be linked. YearTotal is an intersection, even though it is dynamically calc would be in essbase. Each HSP_CELL_NOTE NOTE_ID points to one or more notes that are stored in HSP_CELL_NOTE_ITEM. This means that although you can save a note in YearTotal, it does not display when you report on the Y-T-D (Oct) which is purely dynamic. It does state that when you reference specifically an intersection that is stored in HSP_CELL_NOTE.

    It would be nice if you could see all the notes stored in Jan: Oct when your report contains a Y-T-D (Oct), but it doesn't.

    You can always write a stored procedure to go against the tables and the report in excel.

  • How to store the user input data and access to my reports?

    Hello

    I'm using: RunState.Root.Locals.StationInfo.StationID = Step.Result.Response expression in my sequence Meassage Popup, to get the ID of the station at run time and save it on my report. So far, it works.

    Problem:

    My goal is to buld an exectible that is deployed to other machines, which will require a time of entry of the Station ID and used on all reports. for example even if I restart the execitable, for the program to get it saved ID and place it in the report.

    Where should I keep the ID? How can I including accessing and inserting new reports?

    By default, the data in the StationInfo container should be contained in the report, so you can just have a statement similar to:

    RunState.Root.Locals.StationInfo.StationID = StationGlobals.CurrentStationID

    You would have this statement at the point of your sequence when you want to determine if a guest must be displayed to enter the ID if it does not exist.

    Hope that helps, let us know if you have other questions about this!

  • excellent report generation does not close Excel

    I use the excel Report Builder to save test reports.  I can create the report using a template and writing if necessary without any problem.  After each test step, I add data and save the report.  I continue to Excel closed using the modification of the parameter of the State of the window.  I don't want the user to see Excel or even know it is there.

    The question is, when I'm done test and use features, report vi, it leaves an open excel instance that you see in the Task Manager.  And the only way to close that instance is to open one of the files that was created and close it and then exit excel.  The memory used by this instance develops a little every time that a new file is created.

    How can I close excel completely after each test?

    You're just sorry.  Attached is an improved version which works, but again not sure if there is a better way.

    This will get the HWND before disposing of it, has it as usual, then given the HWND get PID (it was the bad terminal last time) and then kill based on that.  It seems to work and I tested this time.

  • Get References.vi of ActiveX and references - closing Excel grrr

    I'm new to ActiveX stuff, but eager to learn!

    The 'grrr' in my subject line is a reference to how I feel about LabVIEW documentation from time to time.  I'm a dinosaur coming from textual programming and did a fair amount of coding in C, so sometimes with LabVIEW, I find myself with this terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach, like ' Good grief!  The amount of memory must LabVIEW be hogging space in the background when I use this vi? ' or 'what happens to these variables (son) in this sub - VI, when it ends, but does not close?  What are their articles when I come back in the next time? ' or ' what if I put a lot of elements in this array, the first time and then started from 0 the second time and just put in some?  What happened with the memroy that has been allocated when there was a lot of elements? »

    Today I am steaming on the subject 'Excel get ActiveX References.vi', and what happens to the "ActiveX references" it generates whenever I call the Subvi in which lives «Excel get ActiveX References.vi»  I think at least one of the"ActiveX" it generates when I call it is of type Excel._Application.  It then seems to be an Excel._Workbook and others.  You see, I used "Excel Report.vi easy" to put some data in an Excel spreadsheet, and I want to tell Excel to do a 'save' on the worksheet open.  I think that ActiveX is (a) the right way to do it, so I'm wading into the fray ActiveX...  But this "Excel get ActiveX References.vi" said in its help file, "do not close references ActiveX opened with references to ActiveX Excel Get VI. The references should stay open until the report is closed. If not, will the 3001 error. "Well, these Excel workbooks to be created by my VI could stay open until after my LabVIEW VI ends!

    So (finally), here are some of my questions:

    (1) when I go through my sub - VI once, pointing to a workbook, I'll take a set of references 'created' or 'open' or whatever you call when ActiveX references spring into existence.  Now, when I leave the Subvi, it will automatically try to 'close' these ActiveX references?  I don't think that, since the stay of Subvi in memory until the appellant VI closes.

    (2) now, I'm back in my Subvi a second time.  New workbook is created, if I receive new references.  Okay, all right.  Uh oh!  What happened to these old references?  I suppose that if I did not save somehow off, I probably lost the possibility to recover them (maybe I'm wrong, but I don't need their return), but is LabVIEW go to 'close' the old refers (from times past through the Subvi) because I can't go to them more?  Which will not cause the dreaded error 3001?  LabVIEW is wrong to 'close', what in tarnation is happening (the old C programmer in me creeping back)?  Now, it is some oddball, reference an orphan, floating there, hogging memory, until we do something to crash intermittently and be a nightmare to debug?

    (3) now, here's the real fear.  I think I could dodge the bullet "error 3001" questions) 1 and 2), but now we will tell the user closes my LabVIEW application that Excel is always open.  All of these workbooks are still open.  Without doubt, all these ActiveX references that I shouldn't have to close are still open.  I really hope that LabVIEW is honest enough to close/delete/remove/blow-away (no matter what the right word) all of these ActiveX references that were opened/created by 'Excel get ActiveX References.vi' when my program ends.  But, oh no!  The 3001 error only then will come along?  I guess I can just discharge it in the stop error handling.

    Oh well, thanks for reading my novel.  I don't know what can be done with LabVIEW documentation to make it more satisfying to people like me, but maybe someone can weigh in on my questions ActiveX here.

    Thank you in advance,

    Steve Brady

    Here is the diagram of Excel get ActiveX References.vi:

    No matter how many times you call this VI, returned references are always the same. So call this VI in a loop has no effect on memory, performance, etc.

    The reason that you are not supposed to close these references is they are stored internally to your reference report (as part of the data class) and are used by the other screws in the API report generation. These references must stay open until you're appealing report Gen screws, how you must call Report.vi have as the last VI in your 'chain '. Have Report.vi looks like this (for the Excel application):

    That's where these references are closed. You should always call Report.vi has to ensure that all references ActiveX used by this particular report object are closed. If you do not, then it is the possibility for them to be kept in memory by LabVIEW, although the VI will idle. LabVIEW is capable of auto-éliminer certain types of reference when screws become inactive, but I don't think the ActiveX references are one of these types.

    Let me know if you still have any questions. Generally speaking, the report Gen screws should provide all the features you need to handle your report... the screws Get ActiveX references are only for the case where you need to do something the report Gen screws do not allow you to do.
