HP Support Assistant Defragent disk running 16 hours and counting...

I bought this HP Pavilion P6755 (Windows 7 64-bit) about two months and it is a great machine to use.  However later I had on two occasions has experienced a blue screen, I thought I could used the pre-installed HP Support Assistant to try to improve the performance of the machine.  Then I started the update and he passed smoothly up to the part of Microsft Windows Disk defragment, where trotted as always...

I tried twice, the first run, I let it go for about 14 hours with no luck. the second time I let the process of development for more than 24 hours and when I came back to check it was still marching tune-up?

I closed this update to half way and started the window of defragmentation tool, and it took less than half an hour to complete the process without any problem at all.

So what is happening with this update under Hp Support Assistant?

I have ensured that the Windows 7 operating system has the latest updates, HP Support Assistant in its latest version.

Another thing so: HP ProBook I use at wwork completes the process of development without problem at all.

Anyone here has the same problem?

My PC has i5 and 1 TB hard drive; I used the HP Support Assistant to perform a check of the HARD drive and that you did not no problem either.

Thanks for any input or possible solution.

Hello
Welcome to the HP Forum!

I recommend that you update the HP Support Assistant. Go on the web portal of support for your office and in the software & Drivers section find the update, download and install it. I would have linked directly to the update for you, but you left the last alphanumeric (s) for your office product name identifier.

Kind regards
ERICO

  • HP Support Assistant - defragmenting a SSD?

HP Support Assistant just asked me to launch a regular maintenance, which is fine.

Then I noticed that he was trying to defragment a SSD drive, so I cancelled it.

Is the routine support assistant smart enough to know not not to defragment a SSD?

Obviously not, you must go in the HPSA settings and disable Defrag.

If installation still remains non-compliant, turn the system off, wait 10 minutes. Start it again and choose the option on the Boot Manager to restore the installation for Windows Vista, try the following steps below:

1 disable any security software before you attempt to upgrade or do a clean install.
    2. make sure that your computer is updated (devices and applications)
    3. disconnect all external devices before installing.
    4. check your hard disk for errors:
    Click Start
Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
    Click on "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type: chkdsk /f /r
When you restart your system, your computer will be scanned for errors and will try to correct them.

In addition, run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, it will scan your system and provide a report telling you if your PC can run Windows 7, and if there is no compatibility problems with your hardware or programs.

  • Re: Win 10 update stay at 55% for 5 hours and counting

    Success!

Disconnect the external monitor see, necessary ed: I stopped, disconnected the monitor, put on the market and launched the update to win 10. The first phase where you get the % of the messages of progress went to completion, then the machine has restarted and then a second phase has begun - with % complete rework. This second phase has taken much longer, but finally managed.

It is in the first phase where I got to 55% before dropping out. Now, everything looks good.

I have a similar problem (Win 10 update won 55%) on my Pavilion 17 e135nr and will post my results here.

  • Cannot use, uninstall or reinstall HP Support Assistant

I had a crash of hard disk and reinstalled from a backup, but the restoration was not complete. Things work pretty well, but not 100%. The key is that my HP Support Assistant PC health does not work and I can't uninstall or reinstall. They are not in the list of installed programs. I get the message that there is already a version of the wizard for help on my drive, whether the download don't reinstall or update.

I have a HP Pavilion (all-in-One) MS-225 with Win7 Home Premium, 64-bit. It's a year and a half, is no longer under warranty. Is there a way out of this dilemma? Thank you!

UPDATE: I just got the update to run, but it gave me this error message:

"HP Support Assistant Application Update / your system does not satisfy the minimum requirements for this patch." / However was cancelled. (1602).

    Arniceous,

Thank you for your response and suggestions.

After a lot of trial and error, I finally got it works as follows: first of all, I downloaded and installed the latest update for HP Update. Then I renamed the folder HP Support Assistant (didn't do any deletion again) by adding ".old" to it and retries, download and install the latest update for the wizard. This time, he worked and installed!

So at this stage my PC is OK again and back to where it was before the crash of hard/restore disk. All HP now works as it should.

I hope this can help you and others in the effort to repair that do not have HP help or a fix for.

  • HP support assistant

I am running HP Support Assistant on my new laptop Zbook and found that when driver and other updates are recommended and I go through the process of downloading them they do not install.  When I get back the updates, it says I need to download and install the same updates again.  It is chewing through my download limit and I'm frustrated about how to remedy the problem.  Why they do not install when they have been downloaded.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can not install HP Support Assistant on PC. I downloaded the HP website sp68201 and it ran... the installation process went well but I see still no support help icon in the taskbar even after quick access HP Support Assistant ticking. Can anyone suggest how to get Wizard HP work?

I tried after Forum troubleshooting steps and still get nowhere

    Thanks for the reply.

I managed to get HP Support Assistant job by running Microsoft Fix It program. I had to restart and run repaired several times. Then, I ran a deep analysis of all files HPSA previously using an uninstall program and deleted remainders. Then I reinstalled sp6801 file and everything is ok. I think that when doing a full reinstall something gets corrupted somewhere in the registry.

    Hello

    Try the following

Firstly, uninstall your current version of HP Support Assistant using Microsoft 'Fixit' at the following link: this is particularly useful for correcting problems that may prevent resettlement on the machines running a 64 bit OS.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall

When this has completed, restart the laptop.

Then download and install the latest version of HP Support Assistant of the page on the link below - the download links are to the bottom of the page.

After installation, restart the computer again.
