NDK BlackBerry 10.2 on Ubuntu/Linux question

I already posted this in the announcement thread, but I'm doing a new topic just to keep things organized.

FINALLY, the 'Mode' button which allows you to preview the qml files is clickable in the NDK 10.2 on Linux. But it never works. Is it possible to fix this? I get a pretty useless error:

«Problem loading the qml file: unable to render the QML preview»

I really hope it's fixable, because it's the biggest feature and it has completely disappeared from the Linux builds since the first little Beta SDK.
Anyone having problems with this?

BTW, the QML preview depends on libosmesa so don't forget to install the package of the company with

# apt - get install libosmesa6:i386

Dig a little deeper, I found that glGetString is provided by libGL.so but libbbcascades - IDE.so is not bound to it, which causes the undefined symbol error. A little, I solved the problem by preloading version i386 libdl, in this way:

LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/i386-Linux-GNU/Mesa/libGL.so.1.2.0/opt/bbndk/qde

And now, I saw QML working on Ubuntu 13.04 x 86-64!

I hope this helps you.

  • Ubuntu linux driver installation for Nvidia 950 M on Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720

    Hello

I bought a Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720 Ubuntu version because I like Ubuntu linux more than Windows.

I can't find the linux drivers that will allow my Nvidia GT 950 M graphics so, basically, the card useless and no power management.
There is absolutely nothing for Ubuntu Linux on your drivers page.

I have updated to the latest BIOS A03.

The laptop's Ubuntu Logo sticker on it next to the Intel i7 so I thought it is totally compatible.

    Please advise,

    Thank you

Optimus system and at the present time, it is not properly supported under Linux, there is work in progress for him, but for a workaround, see Bumblebee project: wiki.ubuntu.com/Bumblebee

Description a little longer: you have two graphics - integrated (Intel) and discreet (Nvidia). Optimus systems are designed with the intention to use the GPU integrated tasks that requires no graphic heavy treatment (most of the day-to-day activities) and the use of the discrete GPU for applications requiring more powerful GPU. Integrated card is less eager for power and voltage GPU discreet when not in service allows cooler use.

Normally you use integrated card and there is no way to use the card nvidia directly if the BIOS does not switch to it. Help Optimus allows to use the Nvidia card for rendering and power down to save power when not in use. It has not been official for Optimus of Nvidia Linux support. Bumblebee is a community created project attempting to address the issue, but it is really only a workaround until the solution has been created. FIRST is such a solution, but at present it is still experimental and is not in any version of Ubuntu, more it is officially supported only in the open drivers source (new), Nvidia has not yet validated supporting in their binary driver.

I agree that Dell support for bids Linux pages are sorely lacking, in fact I was not able to locate a page describing their Linux pre-installs. Ubuntu certification pages are not really informative on Dell changes and upgrade policy.

  • Installation on Ubuntu Linux 9.04 VMWare tools

I've just updated Ubuntu Linux 9.04, and when I start the VM in VM Ware Fusion on my MacBook Pro I get a message saying that VMware Tools are not installed. • How do I restart Ubuntu (Linux), if it is mounted

I use VMWare Fusion version 1.1 to run windows on my Macbook Pro to Apple, with OSX Leopard (10.5.6).  It works well, however I tried to install the OS to Ubuntu (Linux) version 6.10 recently.

At the end of the installation process a dialog box titled "Installation" arises with two radio buttons ("Continue using the live CD" and "Restart now").  I tried to click on the button "Restart now" and got no response.  The virtual machine is now suspended and the "Send Ctrl - Alt - Del" command has no effect.

Stop the virtual machine has also no effect because at startup, it restores the last State of the saved machine.

Any assistance in this regard would be appreciated.

VMware Fusion (menu bar) > help > VMware Fusion help > running VMware Fusion and Virtual Machines > orders of switching power supply from the default Options

Note: It's like pulling the plug of the wall on a physical computer. Whatever this is not saved will be lost and there is always the possibility of corrupting the file system where preforming a hard stop! (Even if you have no choice but to do.)

VMware Fusion menu bar > VM > press the option key and select Power Off

By pressing the keys alt/option "Shutdown called" changes to "Power Off".

Note: It also changes orders of "Suspend comments" and "Restart Guest' too.

Or if this does not work then...

On the library Virtual Machine ctrl - click on the target of the Virtual Machine and select Show in Finder and delete the .vmss file, the ctrl + click the target package of Virtual Machine, and then after the merger closed. Note: All that was not justified for the suspended state will be lost by deleting the .vmss file. Note: But you will have no other choice is the Virtual Machine will not suspend/resume/stop/start correctly.

    Hi all

I have oracle xe on ubuntu linux without any apparent problem until I try to connect like this
sqlplus / as sysdba how I get ORA-01031: insufficient privileges message.

I tried as root, as oracle (oracle su) and a user with membership in the dba group.

I even put all the privileges on the directory (chmod-r 777/usr/lib/oracle) oracle, but without success.

    SQL > conn / as sysdba--> will not work in the XE. you have to explicitly say SQL > conn sys as sysdba;

I saw a similar question for Apple computers, but it does not work under Linux and neither does Windows patches. It only started with the last udate to Firefox.
Unfortunately, like most people, I did the stupid thing and update, then went nuts loading of modules so it could be an add-on and not only the update.
The same problem occurs on thre PC (AMD and Intel) - one on the Mint and the rest on Ubuntu

  • Impossible to mount the drive external HARD under Ubuntu Linux - file system damaged and MFT

I get the following error when I try to mount my external hard drive on my Ubuntu.

    UNABLE TO MOUNT
    Error mounting/dev/sdc1/media/khalibloo/Khalibloo2: command-line ' mount t 'ntfs' o ' uhelper = udisks2, nodev, nosuid, uid is 1000, gid = 1000, ask dm = 0077, fmask = 0177 "" / dev/sdc1 "" / media/khalibloo/Khalibloo2 "' came out with the exit status no lame 13: ntfs_attr_pread_i: ntfs_pread failed: input/output error".
    Cannot read MFT, mft = 6 count = 1 br = - 1: input/output error
Could not open the FILE_Bitmap inode: input/output error
    Failed to mount ' / dev/sdc1 ': input/output error

NTFS is incompatible, or there is a hardware failure, or it's a SoftRAID(4)/FakeRAID hardware. In the first case run chkdsk /f on Windows, and then restart Windows twice. Using the /f parameter is very important! If the device is a SoftRAID(4)/FakeRAID then frst activate and mount a different device under the/dev/map/directory, (for example/dev/map/nvidia_eahaabcc1). See the documentation for 'dmraid' for more details.

It is not mount on windows either: "i/o device error".

This is a disk with a single partition hard ntfs

Of course, I tried chkdsk /f. reported several file segments as unreadable, he didn't say if he fixed them or not (apparently not). also tried with the indicator/b.

    ntfsfix reported as corrupted volume.

TestDisk was able to correct a small error with the partition table by adding the '80' for the active partition indicator (only). TestDisk also confirmed that the boot sector was very good and it corresponded to the backup. However, when you try to repair the MFT, he could not read the MFT. He could not also the list of files on the hard drive. It says file system may be damaged.

Active @ also shows that the MFT is missing or damaged.

I tried to replace the USB cable. Has not changed anything. I tried to update the driver. Windows reported that he was already up to date. Yes, the pilot has been activated.

So, how can I fix the file system? or MFT? or the I/o device error?
I used the HARD drive for months. This problem started 2 days ago. I also tried to mount it on other computers, without success.

    Hello

I'm sorry to read about problems with your drive.
Unfortunately, I think that the question is misplaced a bit as your case appears to be the health of your rather external HARD drive that a specific problem related to Linux.

To add clips, if the tools you use have failed to fix your drive, then I do not think that a user 'normal' forum will no longer.
I know it's a fine recommendation and probably just add salt in your wounds: If you really care for files, do a sector backup before doing any file system / partition own modifications.
The reason is very simple - if the tool you use has made a mistake when judging what actions are the right ones, and submit these changes, you move your goal - and fast!
Instead of repairing, the tool can simply corrupt data even further.
Any subsequent change aggravates the disorder exponentially.

Judging by the details in your message, I'm sorry to say that I think your drive is defective, or at least the data is lost.
Of course some companies will probably be able to restore it, but that normally costs a fortune.

Unless you are willing to spend astronomical amounts of money on data rescue, so I suggest to accept data loss and look at what you can do with the HARD drive.
Try to format. No problem, this indicates the drive is defective and must be replaced.

    Sorry for so little help.

  • Spectrum/Envy x 360: Ubuntu/Linux compatibility

    Hello

I plan to buy an HP laptop and you want to run as a dual boot Ubuntu/Win10. I would buy the spectrum HP x 360 13-4116na or HP ENVY 15-w101na 360 x.

I've seen discussions in this area and other forums that a dual boot is possible and that there are some problems with the sound, but there are solutions to these problems.

But I've seen threads complaining about problems with graphics cards and especially some people saying they chose deliberately NOT only a QHD screens as if Ubuntu would not be able to handle this higher resolution. Sounds unlikely to me, but could pose a problem for Ubuntu with these two models I mentioned?

Thank you for helping me choose the right computer.

    ToruOkada

Cannot talk specifically about these templates, but my personal laptop is a Lenovo X 1 carbon with a touchscreen of 2560 x 1440. Intel i7 4th gen with Intel HD video Intel wireless and a SATA M.2 WSSD. Very similar if not identical to the x 360 hardware. I ran Windows/Kubuntu (variation of Ubuntu) because it was new. First was 15.04 then 15.10 and just this weekend I've upgraded to the new LTS 16.04 version, which is also available on Ubuntu. These recent versions of Ubuntu variants have no problem with startup files or gpt systems secure. Indeed, the old limit of 4 primary partitions, which was a real problem to install Linux just does not apply on a gpt disk.

All material is supported and has been out of the box. I had to do a little tweak to a configuration file to activate wifi 5 GHz, but everything else works fine. The screen scaling was a bit rough on versions previous to 15.04 and 15,10 but is much better with 16.04. One thing that Windows 10 do very very well, it's scale HD Ultra poster. Way better than 8.1 or higher. Kubuntu 16.04 seems to have understood the message.

Post back with more questions. I ran Linux on any computer laptop that I have owned since about 2000, back when it was a fight. Now, not so much.

Simulators will not work on just * nix. You can try the wine, but your best bet is parallels or VMWare.

If you want to do everything and use only a device for the test, you still have a chance to be * nix only. I think he was talking about a plugin for linux, but I doubt he'll go anywhere if it isn't out yet. You can always use the BB Ant tools, make a maven plugin or build everything yourself via command line.

Basically, it is not supported, but it is also not impossible... just search around to pick up the pieces.
