Windows Mail stops

Windows Mail works fine, except when receive facebook notifications.  Opening of such transmissions, windows closed its doors.  I have vista home premium

This is a known problem due to incorrect messages (i.e. messages that do not conform to the standards of the internet), Facebook notifications.  What you can do is to read messages in plain text only (Tools |) Options | Read) and then it will not crash.  You can set up a message rule that if the message came from FB, then move the message to a folder to give (you can just create one for FB notifications).  Then when a message arrives, it will get diverted into this folder and before we go in this folder, you can set things to read in plain text only.

It's the only thing you can do to work around it.  You can try complaining to FB, but if they set is something else.

Do you have any background scanning enabled?  This could be what hangs WinMail.  I don't see what else would break WM when you select only the message in the preview pane, as the body of the message is not yet loaded then.  You could try to disable antivirus and highlight the message with invalid preview pane later, just to see if it stops.

I would offer to watch this message if you could it send me in attachment, but apparently you wouldn't be able to do it without crashing.

  • Windows Mail stops when I use the spellchecker

Windows Mail sometimes/often stops when I use the spellchecker.  There is no obvious reason or a consistent trigger I can find.  I lost the email I typed.  I would prefer not to have to record every email in my drafts before I check spelling it.  How can I fix?

    Hi Holnee,

Looks like you can have something in the background, interfere or that we would need to check the system for any problem files.

The first thing you can do is to check your system for any possible infection such as a virus or spyware. Do a full scan of the system and see if you find infections and if yes which solves the problem that you are experiencing.

The next thing to do would be to put yourself in a situation of clean boot to ensure that no background program interfere.

    1. Open the Start Menu
    2. Type msconfig in the Search box and press enter
    3. Click on continue in the UAC prompt
    4. On the general tab, click Selective startup.
    5. Under Selective startup, click on to clear the Load Startup items check box.
    6. Click on the Services tab, click to Select the hide all Microsoft Services check box and then click on disable all.
    7. Click OK.
    8. When you are prompted, click restart.
    9. After the computer starts, check if the problem is resolved.

If that still does not solve the problem then let's you run the System File Checker.  It will scan all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

    1. Open the Start Menu
    2. Type the command prompt in the box start the search
    3. Right click on command prompt and select run as administrator
    4. Click on continue in the UAC prompt
    5. Type the following command and press enter:
      sfc/scannow

Please let us know if this solves your problem, or if you have any questions.

  • Windows Mail stops in the middle of the composition of an e-mail message

We run Windows Mail on our Dell laptop with a Windows Vista 64-bit operating system. Several times recentlly, while composing a note of e-mail of the confectioners, the Windows Mail client inexplicably died. The only way to recover is to press the power button twice. The system returns to the account login on the home page, the message is lost and you must retype the message.

    Hello FHDuffer,

    ·         Only the Windows Mail fails when you try to attach files to email?

    ·         It just freezes or it crashes with an error message?

    ·         What is the antivirus installed on your computer protection software?

If it stops with an error, I suggest you check event viewer entries to find the defective module that could be causing the Windows mail crashing.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/open-Event-Viewer

You can see the link which will help you analyze the entries below Event Viewer:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/what-information-appears-in-event-logs-Event-Viewer

You can also try to configure a new e-mail account on Windows mail and check if it crashes that the question could be linked to the corrupted e-mail account.

Also try to disable the antivirus software on your computer and check if it works.

Note: Please make sure that you enable the antivirus software after the test to keep your computer protected.

    Thank you

Windows Mail can open other emails?  If so, delete and lose the questionable E-mail as you saved it elsewhere.  You can try to delete mode safe if you are unable to do it in Normal Mode.

  • Windows Mail stop the send and receive

I've had Windows Mail on my system for 2 years now and suddenly he began to have problems with the sending and receiving of mail. This isn't 100% of the time, but intermittent - it was OK for the whole day for example, but now it is unable to connect and comes up with the error 0x800CC13.

My iPhone is fortunately still downloading mail in the meantime so I don't think it's a server problem.

I use Windows Vista and maybe it's a coincidence, but I don't know that this only started happening since the latest version of Windows Update...

All / any advice would be welcome, I use Windows Mail to work, and this is really a scarecrow.

    Thank you very much!

  • Windows Mail (not Windows Live Mail) stops unexpectedly

    Hello

I am running Windows 7 and using Windows Mail as my email Client and it worked perfectly for years. IE11 installed Windows Update this morning and now Windows Mail stops after 15 seconds selection and reading or deletion of new emails.  I can do anything else including the opening of my old emails read and it will continue to work fine, but when I start to select new of any four accounts it stops after a few seconds.  I don't know if this has nothing to do with the update, maybe nothing.  Event Viewer logs the error in the mshtml.dll file.  I tried the SFC system, Microsoft Fix - it, reboot and execution of programs of virus without result. Memory I had to jump through some hoops a few a few years to get Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail not, installed on Windows 7 and I don't know how to reinstall it if necessary and save all my settings and message rules.

Can someone help me solve this problem?

    Axel

It is Windows Mail in Vista pirate in? Personally, I would get rid of IE11 for now. I don't know if this issue will never be resolved, but IE11 has other bugs. I'm back to IE10 for the foreseeable future.

  • I received an e-mail which I can't open or delete? When I try to remove it, a bulletin board is telling me that Windows Mail will restart. Why can't I delete an email on Windows Mail?

This is no e-mail spam but I know.  I click it and it will send a message that Windows Mail will restart and it does not start a 2nd time.  Then I try to access this e-mail again, Windows Mail stops and I have to restart Windows Mail all over again.  Does it only for that one e-mail I received 5 days ago and still impossible to remove.

    1. Check work offline.
    2. Turn off the preview pane.
    3. Click message header just to highlight.
    4. Shift + Delete.

If still no joy, try to compact and repair the database.

  • When I try to open Windows Mail, I get a message saying that it cannot be opened because it is already running.

original title: Windows Mail stop working

I have Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows Mail has stopped working. When I try to open it, I get a message saying that Windows Mail cannot be opened because another instance of it is already running.  (the same manager thought of tasks shows no mail running Windows).

I tried to restart my computer several times. I tried running Windows update that tries to install Internet Explorer but I get an error code 5.  My antivirus software is up-to-date.  Can anyone help? I miss my Windows Mail :(

Try to go to start | Search and type in msconfig and then disable the startup items and reboot and see if you get the same error.  It could be due to interference antivirus.  See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 you can also try compacting and repairing the database (see www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/), but I don't think that is the issue because another program seems to be from WinMail.  It could also be due to Windows Search indexing messages, so if you have it turned on, then go to control panel | Filtering options (I think it's location) and delete WinMail indexing courses.
