Need a Grep Expression to change a space between braces.

Hey all -

I know that it must be ridiculously simple for someone who knows about Grep.

I have a string of text between braces, like this:

{namevalue = 'Firstname Lastname'}

And I would like to add a special character or a word between the first and last name, so I can make some additional changes to the structure via find/replace.

So, I would like to change to this example:

{namevalue = "first name last name$ $$"} or this: {namevalue = "FirstnameKAPOWLastname"} or this: {namevalue = "Firstname12434Lastname"}

You get the picture. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Like this:

({"Search: (\{namevalue=".+)? \s(?=.+? "\})

Replace with: $1 @.

(/ / start capture)

\{NameValue=' / / literal {namevalue ="

.+?                       followed by one or more of any character.

) / / end of capture

\s / /... until the first space...

(?=.+?" \}) {/ /... but only if followed by some characters ending by}

It might be simpler-

Search: (\{namevalue=".+?) \s

Replace with: $1 @.

Need coffee.

  • How to change the space between folder icon and the text on the personal toolbar?

I have some files in the personal toolbar with just a letter to indicate what they are, but on the theme that I use, the letter is too far from the record, it belongs to and partially falls under following folder icon. I don't want to increase the space between all the icons to show the full letter, as this decreases the amount of icons that you can have in the toolbar. Instead, I want to reduce the space between the file and the text belonging to him, so he is right next to him instead of 5 pixels away.

I found various entries to change the padding and margins in userChrome.css, but it's always around the icon, I don't know where to look to close the space between the icon and the corresponding text.

Did you check the value of the left margin of the text?

You can set if necessary negative margin values.

    #PlacesToolbarItems .toolbarbutton-text { margin-left: -2px !important; }

Add .bookmark-item [container] If this enough for the items in the folder

    #PlacesToolbarItems .bookmark-item[container] .toolbarbutton-text { margin-left: -2px !important; }
  • How to create a paragraph style that I can change the space between the paragraphs of return?

    Sample.jpg

Yes, and you can see the additional empty paragraphs. You must use find/replace to delete (there is an application integrated in the drop-down list in the dialog box).

If you need space between, you'll need to have styles of paragraph two, one for the name of the company and one for the address info and hours. Apply space before the name or space after the address.

N ° for the space around lists, make three models: bulletbegin, bulletmiddle, bulletend. The first style must have extra space above, the last style must have extra space below.

I've always wanted a characteristic of the interaction style like the one you describe, and I used to love the spacing to Ventura, who collapsed additional space contiguous to the highest number (if a paragraph has 6 points after the next paragraph has 3 pts before, Ventura gives you 6 points after), but I've never seen a program that would allow the space with some style interactions. What are the programs "have done this for years?

  • Need to GREP expression to find. MD, PhD, FAAC. etc but not the end of the sentence

I'm just starting to utiilize GREP a bit and tried to write an expression it would find two or more uppercase or upper case, lower case, upper case combination followed by a period such as. MD, PhD, FAAC. etc. I'm trying to find these instances and delete the period so that he says, M.D., Ph.d., FAAC etc.

I came up with (\u\u|\u\l\u+)\. that works well, except that he also finds something with 2-3 letters at the end of a sentence, which I did not ' hold.

I also used $1 in the change to box to capture phrases which seems to work very well as well.

I really just do not find anything at the end of a sentence.

Maybe something with the advanced search or postanalyse. Which confuses me as well.

Thanks for any help in advance.

  • In a paragraph style, is it possible to automatically change a space in the area of district using GREP sty

I create a menu template that will be used by my client. I'm using a font that has a very wide space between the two words. I can combined a quarter space instead of a regular space between words. This works for me, but won't work for the customer.

If I create a paragraph style, is it possible to use GREP to automatically change the space in the area of district? and if so, what this text GREP would look like?

Jump_Over, that did the trick! I'm just starting to learn more about the power of GREP in indesign and have still a long way to go.

    Thanks for your help!

  • How can I change the spacing between icons in the taskbar?

I have a small screen laptop.  Because I want a decent number of programs in my taskbar for easy access, I chose the small icons and no names, etc.  However, the icons of small programs (when not in use) are spaced so far that there is little room to spare.  New programs quickly cause Group and are difficult to manage.

Why is Microsoft put so much empty space between the small icons unopened?  It's wasted space.

More important still, how to shrink the space between icons?  On Vista and XP, you could drag the icons to manage your space.  How do I do this with Windows 7?

    Thank you!

Just after I posted that space is really needed, I found the answer who asked the original question.

You can change the space between icons (really the size of the buttons) by changing the size of "Buttons" in the window color and appearance. The default on my version of Windows (2008 R2) was 18 years old. When I set it down to the size buttons for the GET pinned icons smaller and thus the icons closer together.

I don't know if the path is the same in Win7, but in 2008 R2, you right-click on the desktop and select Personalize. Then click on the color button of the window (at the bottom of the window). The dialog box that appears should be titled 'window color and appearance '. In the drop-down list item, select the caption buttons and adjust the size to change the distance between the icons.

I've only tried a couple of sizes too so setting can cause problems. Once you apply, you will need to right click on the desktop and do a Refresh or even logoff and back on again.

How can I add white space between areas that contain text fields?

I use Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2015.

I'm trying to change an existing PDF. I need to add white space between areas that contain text fields to allow these areas to be developed and do not overlap the text and the text below fields.

    For example:

    1. 1.

    Progress/strategies:

    1. 2.

    Progress/strategies:

    1. 3.

    Progress/strategies:

    1. 4.

    Progress/strategies:

The space between each 'progress/strategies' increasing needs. A text field is under each of them. If it's a Word doc, I could just press on enter. What is the best way to do this with Adobe Acrobat Pro DC?

There is no easy way to do it. You need to move the text fields more apart and if there are static elements, then you will need to use the tool edit text & Images to move them, separately.

No need for GREP. If "TABLE 7.1:" is text, you can create a nested character style that extends through the colon, in the paragraph style. "

If "TABLE 7.1:" is created by a numbered list of automatic type paragraph style, you can specify a character style named for the part of automatic numbering in the drop-down menu Style of character, in the Style of numbering of the chips section and numbering of the dialog box Options of paragraph style. If the character style does not exist, you can stay in the operation of paragraph options by choosing 'New Style of character' in the menu. After you create the new style, you're back in the process of definition of the paragraph.

  • Need help with GREP expressions

I know - KNOW - there is a way to do it, but keep my GREP expressions.

I want to add an em dash before any sentence that is in a paragraph style. So I obviously want the em dash to be in the 'start of the paragraph' location. Lack of keep all my GREP searches. Can anyone help?

Adobe of the 'start of the subsection' implementation is just a little off the coast of standard GREP (which, in itself, is less a set of hard and fast rules but rather as "guidelines"). Yes - you can Search for beginning of paragraph using plain ^, but you cannot use it with a replace operation.

The trick is to give something to look for in InDesign. Search

    ^.

(it's just - a wildcard just after the start of a paragraph). You don't want to lose the character it finds, so replace it with

    ~_$0

where the first 2 codes is your dash and the last 2 is 'the text together. This is your original found generic character!

Don't forget to put your paragraph style in the box of formatting to find.

Of workaround works around the failure of implementation, because indeed, you want to add something to an existing text. Unfortunately, another pretty standard GREP to search for empty paragraphs-^ $-does not work, because then you have no room for a wildcard... (and Yes, you pouvez use a hard return instead of code \r is first or last, but then it will not work at the beginning or at the end of the story). It's one of those things that I wish to see corrected with CS5.

[Edit] HA! Peter beat me to it, but he has made a typo. In addition, my story is longer.

  • Insulate the space between the 2 sentences under a strict scenerio for GREP

    Hello!!

OK, I worked on creating this style sheet for descriptions of catalogue (with the help of many of you), which consist of GREP to find and change, GREP Styles, and Nested styles.

Everything goes well... but, in the image below, once in a blue moon, I have 2 sentence in a row (which casts my motive for nested Style)... If you look at the call letter F there is sentence 2, and the space between them is one of the most followed by the character styles that passes through the nested styles. This is the only time where my changes of model, is when there are 2 sentence 1 appeal letter.

    Picture 12.png

So, I came with a GREP find and change your mind, see below, who would find the space between these 2 words (one sentence following a call letter) and a sentence that does not begin with a letter of appeal. I want to isolate this space and apply a character with 0 follow-up style

I tried to isolate the space and put a 0 follow-up character style, but what I came with is also changing the follow-up after the call to this first sentacene letter. So not to go. Here's what I have so far.

    Picture 8.png

None of my friends GREP out there have a better way to isolate this space, only in this case and apply the character style without applying this style of character with the rest of the sentence. It is important to only replace the space, because even the registry and brands followed single amounts charged before them.

My best attempt was to create a subexpression to find the first sentence by finding a call letter, followed by a period and a space and then any character, one or more until he hit a period. (using the shortest match), then isolate the 1 space to a subexpression so I could get it back, then look at a sentence that did NOT start a call letter, a period and a space. But, as I said, now they all get 0 track, so I get not only the space, but I'm all in these 2 sentences?

    Any thoughts there?

In my view, I'm so close! It's the last thing that I need to understand and then he will be...

    Thank you

    Babs

    iBabs2 wrote:

So I think what I need to understand, how to apply a GREP style to just space before a letter of appeal, the space after the period of the letter of appeal.

Will be all your letters of appeal caught with a "\u" GREP match? If so, use this

    \s(?=\u\.\s)

to find the space 'before' and

    (?<>

for space 'after '. (You cannot include a space before in this one, because it might be the beginning of a paragraph.)

The region of the tree will now appear in the center of the region and the top margin, including the displayed item is pushed down. Here are the changes:
