need a script to find vmware tools does not not on virtual machines

I need a script to find the virtual machines running without vmware tools?

Hello, nareshunik-

You can add an extra point to the filter to include only the virtual machines that are on, as:

## get names of powered-on VMs that either do not have Tools installed, or on which Tools are not currently runningGet-View -ViewType VirtualMachine -Property Name, Guest.ToolsStatus -Filter @{"Guest.ToolsStatus" = "toolsNotInstalled|toolsNotRunning"; "Runtime.PowerState" = "PoweredOn"} | Select Name, @{n="ToolsStatus"; e={$_.Guest.ToolsStatus}}

How does do for you?

    To add to what Andrew said... Download and unzip the Tools-windows - 9.2.2.exe.tar on the host and then run the file tools-windows - 9.2.2.exe on the host.  He then silently retrieves and installs files windows.iso and windows.iso.sig to VMware players Working Directory.  Then just try to install VMware Tools normally by selecting install VMware Tools in the Virtual Machine menu.  If this does not work then you will need to manually assign the ISO Image to VMware Tools (windows.iso) on CD/DVD to the virtual computer and then install from in the guest operating system by running setup.exe from the CD/DVD drive.

  • VI customer reports VMware Tools 'does not work '.

    Hello people,

    It becomes very annoying. He started to arrive since I upgrade ESX server with U2, U3 and Vcenter Server of U3 U4.

    The problem is: from time to time, VI client, the State of the VMware Tools on different virtual machines (distributed on both ESX hosts) indicates "does not work". Can I open a session on the VMS, restart the VMware Tools service, then VI Client displays "ok". I wonder what causes this problem and ready to solve this problem.

  • VMWare Tools does not

    Hi team,

    I cloned (copied the entire record of this virtual machine via scp copy) a virtual of Vcenter Vcenter 5.0 4.1 machine. But after turning on the machine (in Vcenter 5.0), is to show VMware tools are running up-to-date. Can someone please explain to me how I can install VMware tools for this virtual machine.

    Thanks in advance,

    Sisi.

    No,

    If you use standard options, vm will automatically update the tools and do a restart.

    If you do not wan´t to automatically restart the virtual machine, you may use the interactive update and open a console on the virtual machine.

    The CD of tools will be automatically mounted to your virtual machine and you could install the tool manual.

    Before running VMware Tools for the first time, you must

    Configure it to your kernel running on the

    following command: "/ usr/bin/vmware-config-tools.pl".

    Config tools... He'll try to compile tools for your kernel, make sure you have the kernel and GCC installed headers.  If the compilation fails, there should be a build any - any for the "vmware tools" somewhere on this site...

    Hi dear all virtualization expert

    are you know or have a solution for this?

    It's important I

    Hello

    You can try something like this...

    In vSphere client, choose display of virtual machines and templates.

    From there create a folder unless you already have one and move the virtual machines in question in this case. (you can also select a host, it must not be a folder).

    In the upper pane, select the virtual machines when you have selected the folder, or the host. You can select more than one virtual machine and right-click-> comments-> installation/upgrade to update VMware tools.

    I hope this helps.

  • VMWare Fusion 6 upgrade does not load virtual machines

    I downloaded the demo for VMWare 6, and when I run it, it shows the two virtual machines, I have version 5.0.3, but they say just 'loading... '. "next to them. I never started.

    I have Debian 6 and haiku. They work very well in Fusion 5.0.3. I close them before trying to run 6.

    When I tried to make a new virtual machine, or to open, I get this error message (see image). Note that I have installed Cubase, and it should use the file extension .vmx for some of its files.

    I can't enforce existing virtual machines or create new ones. 5.0.3 continues to operate correctly.

    I have reproduced a problem with Launch Services, leaving the .vmx extension registered for Cubase and not save it properly for the merger. This is a problem in some Apple document standard loading of code that uses the Fusion. I will continue research on the differences between the Fusion 5 and 6 to see how to solve this problem. In the meantime, could you please try the following workaround?

    1 unregister Cubase of launch Services:

    /System/Library/frameworks/CoreServices.framework/frameworks/LaunchServices.Framework/support/lsregister u ' Cubase 7.app/Applications / ".

    2. run merge and make sure that it is able to create and power on virtual machines.

    3 re - record Cubase with Launch Services:

    /System/Library/frameworks/CoreServices.framework/frameworks/LaunchServices.Framework/support/lsregister ' / applications/Cubase 7.app.

    If you have another version of Cubase, or it is installed in a different location, you may need to change the path of the application accordingly.

    What should I do?

    Looking at your mistakes, you seem to have an earlier version of the tools which are not uninstaled or tools are coming from another source when the installation program checks the files are already claimed. I first uninstall everything that claims these files and possibly clean/regen your db packace if necessary. Then, reinstall the tools and see if you still get errors with no alert clobber.

  • How to get address Virtual Machine MAC on which vmware tools is not installed

    Hello

    I'm putting the MAC address of a virtual machine in a string. At first, I was using this script:

    strMACAddress = objVM.guest.net [0] .macAddress;

    But as indicated in the title, the vmware tools are not installed on the virtual machine. I found a similar position in vSphere Web Services SDK:

    http://communities.VMware.com/thread/254204

    In this post, it is specified to use the script VcVirtualEthernetCard() object. I'm new to Orchestrator and I do not understand how to make a "myVcVirtualEthernetCard" link to my virtual computer object 'objVM '.

    Example:

    IN: objVM (VcVirtualMachine)

    OUT: macAddress

    var myVcVirtualEthernetCard = new VcVirtualEthernetCard();

    macAddress var = myVcVirtualEthernetCard.macAddress;

    Thank you for your help.

    Hello!

    You can browse the table config.hardware.device of the virtual machine:

    IN: vm (Vc:VirtualMachine)

    DEPARTURES: Macaddresses (Array/string)

    macAddresses = new Array();
    var deviceArray = vm.config.hardware.device;
    if (!deviceArray) throw "Error getting hardware config array of VM";
        System.debug("deviceArray: " + deviceArray);
    //loop through array, find NICs and retrieve there MACs
    for (var i in deviceArray) {
        var currentDevice = deviceArray.pop();
        if (currentDevice) {
            System.debug("currentDevice: " + currentDevice);
            if (currentDevice instanceof VcVirtualE1000 ||
                currentDevice instanceof VcVirtualPCNet32 ||
                currentDevice instanceof VcVirtualVmxnet ||
                currentDevice instanceof VcVirtualVmxnet2 ||
                currentDevice instanceof VcVirtualVmxnet) {
                    System.debug("found network card on " + currentDevice);
                    macAddresses.push(currentDevice.macAddress) ;
            }
        }

    Please let me know if it works for you, or if you need more information :-)

    Looks like you may have a virus or other malware. Get your updated antivirus program and boot into Safe Mode. Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan in Safe Mode. To enter in Safe Mode when you turn on first, press F8 on every seconds until you get the menu, and then select Safe Mode. Then run a complete system scan.

    If that suits him fine. If this is not the case, use system restore to go back to an earlier date at the beginning of the problem. To run system restore, click Start-> programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> system restore. Click on the box that says show more restore points.

    You can check the corrupted system files. Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above does not help. Click START, and then type CMD in the search box, right-click on CMD. EXE and click run as administrator. Then, from the command prompt type sfc/scannow.

    Finally if all else fails, you can look at the rather cryptic system event log. To make, click Start-> Control Panel-> administration-> event viewer tools. Once in Event Viewer system log-click and scroll entries looking for these "error" with indicator see if you can find guidance on where the problem may be.

  • How to get the MAC address of the virtual machine on which vmware tool is not installed

    Hello

    In our project, we communicate to vCenter/ESX and details of virtual machines using the VI - Java 4.0.0 SDK APIs

    I use PropertyCollector for details.

    But in the following cases

    1. a virtual machine is poweredOff.

    2 VMware tool is not installed on the virtual machine.

    I am not able to get the mac using the PropertyColector address.

    To get the macaddress property I use after crossing spec:

    rootFolder (folder)-> childEntity (data center)-> hostFolder (Folder)-> childEntity (ComputerResource)

    -> host (Hostsystem)-> vm-> guest (GuestInfo)-> net (GuestNicInfo)-> macaddress (in Virtualmachine)

    I know the vSphere client uses the VI SDK to perform all operations, and I am able to see the macAddress of VirtualMachine in cases using vSphere client.

    Is any body please help me get the macaddress of VM in the two cases.

    Thank you

    Deepak

    Take a look at the dashboard feature of the virtual machine and specifically "VirtualEthernetCard": http://www.vmware.com/support/developer/vc-sdk/visdk400pubs/ReferenceGuide/vim.vm.device.VirtualEthernetCard.html

    When you assign a new vNIC to each virtual machine, a unique MAC address generated is given by default. If you still want to map the actual interface of the guestOS, then you would take a look at guestInfo as you may have noticed IF you have the VMware Tools. Although the default is whence the MAC address
