Satellite M60-166: care of the defective AC adapter - I need to replace it?

I have a portable Satellite M60-166, which is powered by the PA1750-09 power adapter.
The end that plugs into the laptop is a bit faulty as it reload only in certain positions.
I can't, unfortunately, accompanied.

Replaces the ENTIRE BLOCK the only possibility for the extraordinary charge of around £30?
Thank you

Hmm, theoretically, you can replace the Witch of universal Charger AC adapter but this AC must support the same specifications as ampere, volt, watt values!

But believe me; You must use the adapter recommended by Toshiba due to the warranty policy. Maybe if you do NOT use the charger Toshiba and this 3rd sector adapter part may damage the motherboard specifications then the warranty does not cover the repair procedure.

Therefore, you are only on the safe using the specially designed original adapter side for your laptop!

Best regards

I think I know why you get a BSOD.
You said that you have installed the Win XP SP1a.

    You must Win XP SP2!

If you wish, you can create a CD Win XP SP2 clean! How? It's very easy. You need the tool freeware nLite (google for it and how to use it).

Using the nLite application you could create a new XP CD and could include SP2 in this CD. You can then use this disk to start!

  • Satellite M60 - controller keyboard may be defective

Hey all, first of all I apologize for my bad English.

I have a Satellite M60-149, and since 2 days no longer start.
It stops to load in the Bios Phoenix with 'Please wait' screen the fast flashing of the status bar.

So I think that the problem is the bios error. But if I hold down Fn + ESC when I turn on, the Bios boot, then windows also.
In windows, the mouse is OK, but keybord does not work.

I assume that the problem is as a broken hold down the key. So I physically removed the keyboard and I try with a keyboard external usb.
Nothing doesn't change, "Please wait" still on the screen of the bios or windows start pressing Fn + Esc to power.

In my view, keyboard controller is damaged. But I wan't to pay 300 euros for the new motherboard.
    Anyone have other tests/solutions?

    Hi Gianluca_1,

I m not a technician for computer laptop, but even the keyboard is removed and you get the same problem it seems that the keyboard itself isn't affected but he s strange that it starts when you press FN + ESC

I think that in this case you need an answer to an authorized service because they can give you an official statement so I recommend contacting the guys and ask for help.

An alternative, try to load the default settings in the BIOS and try a BIOS update.

    Hello

What happens if you install the operating system from the Toshiba Recovery CD?
This CD also contains the ATI graphics driver.
How about installation of the graphics driver on the site omegadrivers.net?

But I must say that it is very strange question. The driver from the Toshiba site should work.

  • Toshiba Satellite M60-154: what is the best way for a long service life of a battery?

    Hello Toshiba-users,

I bought the "Toshiba Satellite M60-154" but I want to use most of the time on the AC adapter.

I read the manual, but they say nothing about the battery life for people like me who will use the computer power adapter laptop most of the time.

I would like to know if:

    (1) it is best put the battery inside when I use the laptop on the power adapter for a long time (they say this is not good for the life of the battery when it is fully charged and when he is still in charge...)

    (2) it is best to take the battery when when I use the laptop on the power adapter for a long time and check the battery every week for example to see whether or not it is still loaded (they say it's good for the life of the battery when the battery is fresh off once a week)

Indeed, what should I do to make sure that the battery will have a long life, knowing that I always use the laptop on the power adapter instead.

    Thanks for the tips

    Hello

your info is just. Only put the battery in the laptop, if you want to load or work without mains, to make sure that your battery has a long service life relative.

  • Satellite M60: grey spots on the LCD screen

It seems that I have a problem with my Satellite M60. I noticed a few more dark spots on the LCD screen. Looks like the screen is dirty (grey size spots about 5-6 pixels), but it seems to be not in the surface of the screen, but on the inside (the surface is perfectly clean) and, certainly, is not the problem of dead pixels or subpixels.

Is it possible that there is little dust inside of screen? Is it possible to clean it somehow? Such a strange thing is covered by the standard warranty?

    Hi Fox

Possible it s not a BIOS issue. Of course, I read the other case, but perhaps it s not the same question.

But do not forget that you are using the good BIOS!
A lot of users here uses a bad BIOS or bad BIOS procedure.
In addition, the BIOS version performed from 14/09/06. That is why it s not very old updated.

    Hello

    > Laptop computer just turn off after a few minutes of work.
    > Then I format C with Windows XP Pro, but it turns off as before.

I think this sentence is the key description resembles your laptop could overheat and automatically stops.
Why is this happening? Well, the laptop could overheat temperature high inside the laptop. It will stop automatically to prevent the equipment from damage.

My long experience, a clogged cooling fans could be responsible for the bad cooling and the temperature high.

    So what to do?  :|
In my opinion, he must clean the fans to get rid of dust and debris.

The jet of compressed air is very useful tool and could help you to clean the fans.

Hope this helps to get the laptop running.

  • Satellite M60-184: name of the drive from DVD-RAM CD d: D: change

    Hello
I have a Satellite M60-184, I have problems with the DVD player, sometimes changing the icon, there name of DVD-RAM to CD drive D: drive, then it is not able to read any cd or dvd, until I have restart windows. Someone told me that I had to update the BIOS, but it didn't work.
    can someone help me?
    Thank you very much

    Hello

The name, I guess the route because of the media that has been placed in change.
If the DVD is inserted so that the player goes to DVD D: and the CD has been inserted so the disc change CD d:
If the player doesn't work properly, so try to remove it from the Device Manager.
After again starting the operating system should recognize the drive again. Maybe it helps.

  • Satellite A65-S126: I get error codes 7 and 4 - need to replace the internal RAM

I was making mistakes first when I boot.
Windows has a file missing or currupted (isapnp.sys).
So I try to make a startup disk XP repair and while it is endearing to copy files, I receive other errror ' blah blah error code is 7 or 4.

I did some research on all three errors and every difficulty unique potintial ram bad or bad Bios settings. I tried to reset the cmos and I've updated since the last version of toshiba. Always the same thing.

I also replaced the ram with two sticks, that I had. The same problem. I think there must be some on board the cause of ram that I can get out the chip from the bottom and the laptop will always start and says it has installed 256.

Where and how we replace RAM or what do you think?

    Thank you.

Have you tested the memory? You can use Memtest www.memtest.org which is a floppy disk or a CD.

Perhaps the error is just guessing what the problem is. File copy errors can also be caused by a scratched or damaged CD, bad CPU, defective HARD drive, faulty DVD drive or motherboard. If Memtest passes, then test the hard drive for bad sectors.

  • Satellite M60 - vertical lines on the screen

Can someone tell me what is the apperience on vertical lines screen (a first in the Middle, and then, months later on the sides) means?
    Thanks in advance sekreb

I can't say for sure, but it may be due to faulty display or may have a faulty graphics card. If possible, try to connect the external monitor to your laptop and use the FN + F5 key combination to switch to external monitor desktop.
If the image is perfect, the screen may be defective.

When the same problem occurs on external monitor, it is proved that the problem is caused by a faulty graphics card.

    Hello

May I ask if you have installed the LAN driver?
And if you have installed the network driver; have you tried to update the driver LAN?

To be honest, I do not know why this error, but I wonder why repair you the 1394 connection.

However, in my opinion the LAN driver should be updated and you should also check if the TCP/IP protocol is set to automatic.

You can google a little how to change TCP/IP settings.

By the way; The WLAN driver can be downloaded from the Toshiba driver page!

    Hello

My HARD drive crashed a few days ago on my Toshiba Satellite M40.
So I bought a new HDD IDE to use my Toshiba WinXP recovery DVDs. But my internal optical drive does not work.
My BIOS does not let me start on an external optical drive...

All I want is to try to find a way to use my restore DVD...
Can someone help me? or ideas?

    Concerning

    Hello!

I think that every resident has reason. You can restore t to factory settings on the recovery disk Toshiba no CD/DVD drive work.
If you want to use the Toshiba Recovery disk, you need to replace the CD/DVD drive!

But as resident suggested, you can install Windows XP with a disc of Microsoft. Therefore, you don't need a CD/DVD drive work.

It of your choice what you do! Either you replace the CD/DVD drive, or you use a disk of Microsoft.

    Good bye
