  I work for a Borough Council IT Department, so it is quite safe to say that I know a fair bit on THIS and the side material things. We had an about 12 laptops Toshiba Satellite S500 delivered, 11 x S500 - 11 c and 1 x S500-10F.   I can see for this Satellite Pro model 2 drivers are available. The second is O2Micro controller version 1.1.4.207 card reader.

  BIOS update is for the 32 - bit version, and it will not work under 64-bit operating system. What you can do? Use recovery media and install the 32-bit version, do BIOS update and install the 64-bit version again. A lot of work but I don't see any other solution.

  Virtualization is not important unless you plan to use the VM specialized utilities that take advantage of it for the accommodation of additional performance operating systems. Otherwise, you can do without, this is not a requirement to run Windows 7.

  There is a known issue with Ubuntu & kernel 2.6.35 and freezing at startup, however the last BIOS 1.80 would have been remedied this. Currently I'm under 2.6.32 kernel to work around this problem, but I would like to upgrade.

  The password can be removed by the Toshiba service provider. They can do it in 15 minutes.
  Sorry, but buddy I'm afraid there is nothing you can do about it.

  Toshiba UE driver page provides only focused on the Win BIOS version.
  This means that the BIOS update can be run Windows System.
